Interesting idea, short 40 minute-ish puzzler. Basically you order given scenes into the correct sequence. Clunky controls.
Lovely claymation-looking graphics and kind of unique concept but I would prefer it with everything focused without the annoying blur on things without the mouse pointer over them
I would love to recommend it, since it follows an unique idea, but unfortunately the gameplay value of miniature is so little that I have a hard time to truly recommend it to any fellow player.
The 12 scenes are nice to look at, but figuring out the right order of the events is trivial, so you click through them in less than an hour. The game throws you back into the main menu then and there is 0 reason to go back and visit the same scenes again.
Maybe worth picking up in a sale if the scenes in the screenshot appeal to you and you would like to look at those by yourself. Could be interesting for young children since it is a bit like an interactive storybook, but there are 1-3 scenes that could be too creepy for youngsters, so maybe play through the game yourself first.
Interesting concept and attractive visuals. Finished the game in approx 30 minutes (including about 5 min trying to figure out the interface/controls). For $2 on sale I won't complain. I would recommend this game for a child 8-10 years old as a simple tool for training the mind in logic, sequence, and paying attention to details. For an adult, it's pretty much just a click through.
WAY too short. WAY too easy. Should have easy (what this game is now), normal (10 photos), and hard (15 photos). It's neat but i beat it in about 1 hour not really paying attention.
Great idea. Bad execution. No gameplay.
Not so much a game as a beautiful piece of art, expect no more than 1h of laid back experience without any challenge whatsoever. Alltogether a nice distraction, grab it if on Steam Sale and enjoy with a bottle of wine.
Miniature was a very interesting game. My rule of thumb is that for every dollar I pay for a game, I should get at least an hour of enjoyment out of it. Miniature ended up coming right to that boundary and I believe I took my time. If you are looking for a brain-busting puzzle game, this is not it at all. I found that most of the levels can be can finished within 2 minutes and within the first try. While there is much of a challenge present in this game, if you are looking for something calm, then this is it. If you would like to see some brief gameplay to get a feel for what this game has to offer, here is a link to one of my videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhPmOb92H44
Wow.. Can't really reccomend it, not because its just +20min long but it because the stories were to easy and not really entertaining or anything.
What it is
Miniature – The Story Puzzle is a short, gorgeous puzzle game built in Unreal Engine 4. Each “level” contains one scenario that you are supposed to reorganize in order to play out an entire scene. Every scenario is unique, from settings to characters to lighting to sound... and it's intriguing to see each of them play out and unlock the next little “sandbox”.
Cleary every one of the puzzles was crafted with much care, attention to detail and competence. It's interesting how some levels are more “realistic” (i.e. tell “real life” stories) and some are completely otherworldly! The amount of creativity funneled into this, as a whole, is a joy to behold.
Why do I recommend it?
♣ It has a premise I've never seen before and a very interesting and unique way to execute it;
♣ It is absolutely gorgeous;
♣ The music, in the levels, is good;
♣ The stories you form do play out in an interesting way;
♣ The sound effects are quite fantastic;
♣ It is a roller coaster ride in its themes and the next level is always a pleasant surprise;
♣ It performs well.¹
¹ Didn't lag or stutter with my GTX 750 Ti.
But you may not like it...
Sadly, Miniature suffers from slips that, to some, can be crucial downsides:
♣ The interface is confusing;²
♣ It's too short;³
♣ It's easy;
♣ The “win” music is repetitive;⁴
♣ The UI won't “go away” to allow what could have been gorgeous screenshots;
♣ The level select menu is misleading and should be improved;
♣ It lacks controller support;
♣ It doesn't contain achievements;
♣ It doesn't contain trading cards.
² As other reviewers pointed out, it is counter-intuitive.
³ Can easily be beaten in under one hour.
⁴ It reminded me of The Sims and how every time you clicked a new town or something this excessively jolly tune played. Some levels in Miniature have a gloomy tone and the jolly tune for beating them defenestrates any possibility of an atmosphere.
Conclusion
All in all, I got Miniature during the Steam Winter Sale at 75% off and I have no reason to complain. Even at a bit more, it would have still been a fair price for such fantastic aesthetics and mechanics. To buy it a full price, however, is a risk, seeing at patches are certainly needed to fix your occasional bug (I hardly saw any), improve the level select menus and work on that interface a bit.
Ironically, this game suffers from lack of exposure.

Game is quite simple and some levels are too easy or not designed well enough, but overall I enjoy it. Worth the price.
Sorry I can't recommand this game. The idea is good, but the level design waste it. Some of the stories are too easy and boring to play.
I really enjoyed this game. Graphics and sound effects are amazing for a game genre like this. Game play is relaxing, some levels are easy but others are really difficult. I really enyjoyed the existing levels but sadly I ran out of all so should wait for new ones to come. I was missing achievments and a leaderboard. Looking forward for the new levels each months and good luck with this great game in the future!
charming, thoughtful. looking forward for more levels :)
--- Update ---
Or as matter of facts the lack of any. I understand if the devs needed a week or two for R&R but it's been three months without any new miniatures. The biggest update was the removal of the "Vote for next months miniatures" feature. So right now i'm really disappointed and of course changing my reccomendation to hell no.
--- Original ---
Disc.: At least one of the devs is in the same local gaming blog as me – so i enjoy torturing him with nitpicking there.
Disc. 2: This is for the really early acces, 1 hour after being published
Nice little casual puzzle without much of a difficulty (at least for now). Similar to the small puzzles in The Vanishing of Ethan Carter you get 5 snapshots in a scene and need to find their correct order. Mostly by seeing the big picture, sometimes with attention to details. There is already 12 miniature scene in it if they keep up with the updates as they promised it can become a fun quick distraction game.
Of course there is some room for improvement in most areas but he seems eager to keep upgrading and enhancing the game so i have high hopes.
