Amazing game , one of the best in the series
Great addition to the Rusty Lake series! Same few complaints as with a few of them; the measurements on some of the puzzles don't add up, like the insect puzzle I ended up having to resort to a guide because I wasn't getting the dig marker lined up at all. I also wish there weren't so many instances of having to open up paint to paste a screen capture when it would be much better to have the patterns in a little log book or something you could quickly pull up when you're solving. All in all though, it's a great game.
dives even more into the crazy incredible lore of the rusty lake universe. the puzzles were great, the plot was thick and just when i thought i had finished the game i got even more puzzles and lore! 10/10

casual puzzle game with great story
Great game
No matter which order you play this game, every single one leaves you speechless with the incredible lore reveals of the rusty lake universe. Roots, however, delves so deep into the insanity of this family at the center of the lake mystery that it easily takes the top spot of the series. It's lengthy but keeps you hooked from start to finish and makes you piece the story together by yourself in a way that makes you feel complicit in the insanity. Incredible!
A nice little game. The puzzles are kind of "meh" but the overall feel is great and consistent. Almost lovecraftian.
I really enjoyed this dark little puzzle/horror game. Puzzles weren't so hard that I felt dumb, but not so easy to be boring. Got way darker than I thought, going in relatively blind. Definitely worth playing.
This is probably the most lore revealing game so far in the Cube Escape / Rusty Lake series. Though I haven't yet played Paradise so I'm not 100% sure. It has a lot of story stuff if you've been following the series, which is nice for people like me.
From a gameplay perspective, this one is just like the others. The simple puzzles and old flash style still persist. It's nothing horribly new, but nothing bad either. The two things I will say are that this game is very heavy on the drag feature. You have to drag your mouse along the screen a lot. Additionally, after several years, this game still cannot be full screened. This makes it a bit harder to immerse yourself into the experience.
If you've played the other games from the Rusty Lake series then definitely give this one a shot. If you haven't played those games, then go play them.
Very short puzzle solving game, story about a dysfunctional family with weird characters, it's ok if you got some time to kill, probably not fun if you are looking for some serious puzzles.
Another great spooky and spectacular time courtesy of Rusty Lake. Currently playing my way through every game in the RL universe :)
Some weird stuff in this game....
Anyway, if you like puzzles, I would definitely give this game a spin. It's strange as all get up, but the puzzles are very enjoyable.
There are a couple of puzzles that are off the hook ridiculous, but for the most part, they are logical and fun to solve. (one example is a puzzle with a frog, cricket, bug, etc that was Very Bad. Even after looking at 3 walkthroughs, and Knowing what had to be done, it took between 20 and 30 tries to solve it because the 'mechanics' of the programmers was a Joke!)
Even with some 'sloppy' programming and some weird deranged content, the game (overall) is great for folks that like puzzle solving. And for the price!<<

Rusty Lake PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR GRAPHICS. They are so ugly and amateurish. That was fine when you were doing silly little flash games but not when you're asking money for something that looks as horrid as this. I know that you're most likely just a two person team but I also know you make FUCKTON of money from these games. Or at the very least enough for you to hire a proffesional artist that can draw better than this middle school level stuff. And don't you dare try to say that "it's the artstyle". TLDR: GRAPHICS SUCK ASS, HIRE A PROFFESIONAL.
One of the best games from the Rusty Lake series.
As always, wonderful graphics and a grim but subtle storytelling that unveil as you progress through some surreal puzzles, drawing you in more as you proceed through the game.
Some puzzles are really confusing, perhaps, especially for the end game content, but it is indeed a great game.
If youre a casual puzzle person just play the first 80% of the game and then quit because the end puzzle solutions get so heinous youre gonna end up looking up the answers eventually. I enjoy almost everything about this game from the artwork to the music and little obsurdities but when im banging my head against the wall for some acute detail ive missed or the sheer lack of will to continue; that is when the puzzle fun immersion ends for me and its no longer fun.

Fun to play, good balance between entertainment and frustration
Rusty Lake certainly sets an atmosphere. This is typical Rusty lake game play. Some of the puzzles are obtuse and almost impossible. It's still a good time though.
