Bad Sector HDD is a fun and challenging casual indie game that will test your skills as you immunize a data storage device from a vicious virus. The gameplay is fast-paced and requires quick thinking as the virus continually evolves and becomes more difficult to defeat. Short Qix-inspired game without much to it. While nothing to write home about, for the low price it's fun enough to play through it once, which should take like half an hour or so. If you've recently completed Fortix 2 and still have the hang of it, you'll probably complete this game in under 15 minutes. There are only 24 levels, where each level simply adds 1 more of one of the 4 minion types. Thumbs up for game style.

For those who want to complete a game quick and easy this is no challenge. You can probably beat this within an hour. For a dollar I don't expect much. This game is more fun depending on the style of game play you choose. If you play risky you can make some interesting and satisfying plays but if you play it safe it is easy to beat but a lot more boring.
Fun little time waster. Reminds me of a game I played on Neopets as a kid. This version actually has some added gameplay mechanics. The retro style is pretty immersive. You kinda feel like you are manually fighting a virus on your drive. It Has steam cards.
Honestly this kind of... sucks a bit in the normal mode. The Qix aspect is fine, but your controls are gimped. Your character constantly moves (unlike Qix and other similar games), and only stops at outer corners of territories. It doesn't stop at other intersections, which basically makes waiting for the right moment impossible... And waiting for the right moment is the entire point of Qix-likes. Instead, the game is replaced by hammering arrow keys, praying that you go through the right intersection instead of going in circles around the whole playfield.
As a result, the gameplay is frustrating and I never felt like I was in control of the dot.
Now, this is all subjective - you could say that this is the difficulty - but the following isn't. After you die, you IMMEDIATELY respawn with no delay or mercy invincibility. As a result, because deaths are so sudden, it's very likely you will not notice, and you will press the key you meant to press before dying... Which often will result in you shooting off into the empty field, easy prey for the enemies. Before you realize what just happened, you're probably already dead. And this can happen several times in a row, so a single mistake can compund into losing all lives in 5 seconds. Not pleasant.
And I would definitely recommend against this game... if it was more expensive. Let's face it, this game is cheap as chips... And there are good parts. The audio/visual layers are pretty good (it's simple but pleasant as a piece of graphic design, and it fits with the theme), and aside from the slights gameplay is solid. I especially appreciate the Survival mode, which is an interesting and innovative take on Qix formula, and doesn't have either of the aforementioned problems (territory you claim immediately vanishes and you always move around the outer edge, and you have no lives).
If you ask me, the Survival mode alone is worth the asking price.
So my recommendation - buy it for Survival mode, and if you're interested, give the campaign a go and see if you like it. If you get tired of it - just quit and keep playing Survival. But if you do enjoy it, hey, more bang for your buck (single buck, as in dollar, because again, game is cheap as heck).
However, I would most of all hold out for a sequel where you have more control over your character, and you have delay between deaths - I would buy something like that for much more than 1$, probably 5-10$ - again, if the gameplay was more polished.
EDIT: It appears that you do have lives in Survival mode. I didn't notice because at some point, you fail immediately. I think there is a time limit (which would make Survival more of a Time Attack) but it isn't shown on screen, which I guess adds another minor gripe. But if you keep that in mind, Survival is still fun.
Pros:
- Cheap
- Replayable (Survival Mode)
- Easy to run on any machine
Cons:
- A tad bit buggy from time to time, with some sprites staying on the screen after they've been eliminated
Personal Preference:
- Quite short (24 Levels)
- Presented in a retro aesthetic

Personal Opinion:
Personally, for $0.99, I think this game is a great deal. Classic retro arcade-like gameplay, a chiptune soundtrack, 24 levels ranging from very easy to quite challenging, and a replayable survival mode make this game one that I would recommend spending a dollar on for sure. If you have a buck, and you're in the mood for a couple hours of arcade play, I'd definitely suggest this game as a good option.

Clean your Disk from bugs and viruses
Somekind of retro game like a Qix clone. 24 levels. Sometimes the big pixels confuse about the hitboxes. But altogether a delightful playthrough.
It was good. a good couple of hours :)

this game reminded me of QIX.
It's alot like it in a way.
A nice and geeky version of quix, for 99 cents, it's a safe bet and a good choice.
Its a minimalistic game despite the 3D effects on the board's movements. And worth the €0,99 though you can scratch the idea of it having any real replay value or difficulty. On that note, the difficulty is more aimed at children, but the art-style probably won't appeal overly much to them. Still, not a bad time-waster, though the less than 10 seconds achievement is the hardest to get due to the levels being easy and the time-limits wide.
very very simple, finished it in a bit over half hour. Little variation in enemies (4 types: bouncer, wiggler, chaser and spawner). Every level changes only in the amount of each type of enemy.
Fun. Could have been more, but it's dirt cheap so that's ok.
Probably will never go back to it, but had fun.
Your time is probably best spent elsewhere though.
A very barebones approach to QIX
Though I'd say that it is worth the asking price.
I've played and enjoyed Fortix. What I do enjoy in
Bad Sector is that is a more relaxing approach.
In fact you can finish the game in half an hour.
That's a point for you decide, if that is enough.
There is a survival mode I have only dabbled in.
I'll have to dive in it a bit more.
I would recommend Bad Sector, if you're
looking for stressfree take on QIX, maybe
something relaxing, in-between other games.
You can definitely get the full grasp of the
game within the two hour refund limit.
If you're on the verge, just give it a
try and decide for yourself.
For the low, low price of almost a euro, I had a surprising ammount of fun, and nostalgia. The game kinda reminded me of my childhood experiences with games.
The music is a bit repetitive after a while, but the challenge of properly eliminating bad sectors keeps you going for quite a bit of time.
TL;DR:
A pretty good game, for a very reasonable price.
It's a nice simple game for one dollar.
Finished it in an hour, really quick and casual game that isn't stressful. Nice music.
It's a bit short. It only took me 36 minutes to complete the game including all achievements.
If you do like these sort of games, also take a look at fortix.
The game is good but there is only 60-70 minutes of playtime.
