On Arch Linux on Valve Index on ValveVR 2.8.6 on an Nvidia 2080, this is... good. I found the second level a huge increase in difficulty but perhaps there are other easier levels I can skip to - I didn't try yet and just wanted a quick archery game to show the kids.
I think the arrows move too slowly, by maybe 50%, and I didn't even notice the tower defense options. But this is the first archery game I got working and it is nicely programmed. I will definitely persevere with it and recommend it.
This is a very simple bow and arrow game for VR. The enemies are quite simple, the maps are quite simple, the gameplay is simple. You shoot arrows at enemies, and you can build a few (very simple) units to guard or attack. This is a great example of being able to judge a book by its cover, lol. That said, it's a lot of fun, for what it is.
However, the game is monotonous at a certain point. To 100% the game you need to beat every level on every difficulty, which is dumb, when every other game lets you get all achievements for winning on the highest difficulty. It's a pointless grind.
The worst part of the game BY FAR is how this makes your arms feel. You must keep shooting constantly in order to win. The aiming is kind of subpar compared to other games, but even if it was good, you'd still need to spam out arrows as quickly as possible. This means that, if you want to win a level, you're keeping your arms outstretched for like 10-15 minute chunks. I feel physically terrible each time I finish playing this game.
All that said, this is still a good little indie game, and it's a fun bow and arrow type game, and I'm having fun with it.

I'll keep it installed for others to play around with, I enjoyed the 5 or so hours it gave me. Worth $5, even more worth it if it goes on sale.
Wasn't expecting much when I got it. However, I was surprised by how good it was... is! It is definitely difficult which I'm sure will give me hours of something to work towards practicing my bow skills. Veryyyyy good for the price, nice simple game that works well. Highly recommend it. My arms are so dead after two separate sessions of an hour each as well. good little work out.
I bought it on sale for 1.19 and totally worth it. Very simple, you have a bow and you pewpew , and you can buy some defenders to help you.
Surprisingly fun little game that manages to keep me more interested in than most other games. I wish there were more VR games like this one out there. As the price tag is more than fair, I say: give it try!
It's the game i demo VR to people with. Simple enough to pick up right away, deep enough to want to keep improving your score. A surprisingly good workout too
I got with a 70% discount and i am happy with it. Graphics obviously arent great but they are bareable, the bow is fun.
But read how to play first otherwise you wont know what to do like me.
I didn't realize how much of this was being an archer when I bought it. I don't think I would have bought it if I knew, but I'm glad I made that mistake. This game has been a lot of fun and I enjoy the levels a lot. I have beat all but the last level on easy, and am looking forward to playing more and raising the difficulty on all the levels. The docks is my favorite! Definitely worth full price. If you get it at a discount its a steal.
[Edited] I am retracting my complaint about the menus, everything is fine.
The game seems decent, interesting idea, the bow physics look good and simple to use (once you figure out you need to spawn the arrow away from the bow).
The game seems a bit short, since there seems to be 10-15 levels at most and I finished two of them within 10 minutes. Another problem of the game is the long periods with nothing to do. I expect it to be better in the later levels, but on the second level, once I setup some defense, I had nothing to do at all for the next 5 minutes, I was just flipping arrows in the air to pass time.
Overall, I think it will be a fun time playing it for whatever how long it lasts for.
As I write this, I'm only 1.5 hours in. I have explored a few VR archery games and, "Keep Defending" is one of my favorites, so far. The gameplay is fun and I love the aspect of a little bit of tower defense. The realism is so good that when you shoot your own minions/towers, THEY DIE. I screamed when I did that.
I bought it for $2.39, on sale.
Pros -
•Relatively cheap
•Fairly Smooth
•Lots of enemies, but not too overwhelming (so far)
Cons-
•Teleports, but like many other archery games, it is a pain to use. It would be easier to have a button rather than to shoot the teleport site.
Well, as a person who is quite new to VR gaming I find this game really well done.
There are literally tons of games on the market, who use bow based combat and only few of those deliver something unique.
Keep Defending is one of those unique ones.
First of all - great level design. First level is misleading, as you start on regular plain. But later on - you're on a cliff, or on a high wall - defending gates.
The cool thing about it is that you can buy units to support you (and place them to particular limited spots). And those units can be killed by baddies (or you - losing some precious score points).
You can change your position by buying teleportation points. Hitting one of those with an arrow will teleport you to it.
I've completed first three levels on my first playthrough and was covered with sweat and full of excitement.
Great responsive controls, nice voxel graphics, variety of enemies and levels. Totally worth it.

I have only p[layed the first 3 levels of this game. I like it, but there are a few agonising factors that i hope the devs fix somehow.
As most other reviews have said, the aiming of the arrows you fire does not feel very accurate. So its really hard to hit the enemies. This wouldn;t be so bad, except you can kill your allies with a bad luck shot.
Also, the range on the arrows might need to be increased. I understand a real bow hasd to have a trajectory, But this is a game, not an archery simulator, so the bow feels a little lackluster. I read a comment below about maybe adding a crossbow or similar. Maybe that could be an option?
Also, i find i keep going to grab another arrow, but cant because my hands were too close together, which is a bit annoying, especially with how inaccurate the aiming seems to be. And the teleport mechanic is annoying as with Quivr. "i need to move, shoot the portal, miss, try again, miss, again miss, over and over, and you are overrun... This is partially due to the aim and lack of power with the bow. It feels like a kids bow with a sucker on the end of the arrow.
I have put this as reccommended, in hope the devs fix these minor, but annoying mechanics. Its a really great game! Just needs a couple of minor tweaks.
If these tweaks don;t come, I may have to lower my rating, But i like to give devs a change.
This is one of those games that you wish for then it happens and it fulfills all your wishes.
I loved the archery game in the Lab but wanted more simple but harder with the ability to upgrade and move around.
This game gives me all that and a great work out.
Seriously if you like to shoot bows and arrows this is the game for you.
Pretty good game. A great kalastetics workout for your shoulder. Most of the other reviews wrap it up but Multiplayer would be allot of fun and being able to place more NPC friends would be nice. How about being able to purchase more fighting areas that you can place yourself around the map? I hope they keep working on this game. It is fun but could use a few more options. Keep It Up and KEEP DEFENDING!

Awesome fun! You really need to have room scale set up properly otherwise you might have issues with the bow and arrow disappearing or spazzing out.

Really refreshing to have an actual game making use of all the vive features rather than being a walking simulator.
I had no motion sickness at all playing this game, probably due to there being little to no 3d movement.
Gameplay 7/10 (Some issues with aiming, though that could be my room scale set up)
Graphics 8/10 (I love this art style)
Story 1/10 (It's not that type of game)

I literally just played it for my first time. I have to say I was going to give up on it and get a refund. But then I played the fourth level "Hightower", I think that's what it was called. Defending the castle at night (second half of level). When you have wizards casting magic against your enemies in the dark, it feels like being a kid watching fireworks for the first time. I was going to give up on it but I'm glad I didn't.

Cons and work-ons (updates please)
Teleporting - it needs to be a one button thing, you shouldn't be penalized for not having a good shot while moving. 2nd level is an example.
Tutorial on setting up defenses - like step by step tutorial!
Easier mechanic to switch hands with bow, I still can't do it.
Hands feel a bit off for holding the bow. It seems like the bottom of the bow is closer to the body and the top of the bow is further away from the body - for a while I thought it was my hands, its not.
Aiming is a bit more off to the left than it should be.
Add a cross bow option, the mechanics can't be that far off.
I loved it, otherwise. Just beat level 4 before I had to quit, gotta do some wife time.
This is definitely one of the clearest crisp game i ever played in VR, with a simple low poly environment and good ambiant sound you will forget you are in VR as the game transform you to its wounderland very quickly. I loved the arrow mechanic as its simple and effective .I highly recommend this game as such game is unique in the market as most of the developers now just try to get easy money with some dull zombie shooter but this game deserve the price since you get a game that you will spend many hours on it .
Just finished playing my first hour of this game and I can truly say this is extremely enjoyable.
This is no short of genius, extremely entertaining but of course improvements could be made.
Online multiplayer would be extremely fun, graphics could be improved.
Would love to be able to purchase a more powerful arrow.
If I could go down and start shooting enemies would also make the game a lot of fun.
For the price I paid this is the highest value I have a recieved on HTC Vive.
Developer please keep up the good work, and add some more levels
Cool game. probably one of my favorite first person archery defense so far because you can buy other characters to help you defend your objective in an RPG world.
