If you're just looking for a casual time killer, then this may be up you alley. If you're a completionist, AVOID.

Game was enjoyable for a large part of it, and then became a MASSIVE grind to be able to 100% That can be said for many games, and I can appreciate the difference between finishing a game and FINISHING a game.

Some of the levels you have to complete in this game to get 100% though, are so HEAVILY dependant on random luck it's insane. Levels have to be played OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER. just hoping things will break your way.

Title: "Deep Sea Divers: Atlantis Adventure"

[Scene: The Krusty Krab, where SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs, Pearl, Squidward, Patrick, Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian are gathered around a table, each holding a controller.]

SpongeBob: Ahoy, mates! 🦀 Today's the day we dive deep into the mysteries of Atlantis with "Pearls of the Deep"! 🌊

Mr. Krabs: Aye, me hearties! 💰 And remember, the real treasure is how much we enjoy this game. Oh, and maybe some pearls for me pockets.

Pearl: Daddy, this is so retro. I hope there's a level where we can redecorate Atlantis. 💖

Squidward: (sighs) Can't I just play my clarinet instead? 🎵

Patrick: Is mayonnaise a power-up? 🍔

Ariel: Well, it's my first time playing a video game, but Flounder and Sebastian said it's fun! 🎮

[They all start playing, with SpongeBob and Patrick furiously pressing buttons, Mr. Krabs eyeing the screen for potential loot, and Pearl already planning Atlantis' interior design. Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian join the chaos, trying to figure out the controllers.]

Sebastian: (in his Jamaican accent) Under da sea, we got a whole new way to play! 🎶

Flounder: Look, Ariel, the pearls are falling like rain! ☔

Ariel: It's like a treasure hunt! Flounder, go get the pearls! 🐠

[As the characters progress through the levels, the room is filled with a mix of laughter, excitement, and the occasional frustrated groan from Squidward. Ariel's curiosity piques as she notices the quirky aspects of Bikini Bottom.]

Ariel: (giggling) Your sea creatures are so different from mine. SpongeBob, I know what a jellyfish is! They're those creatures with the stingers, right? 🌺

SpongeBob: That's right, Ariel! They're like our playful little buddies. Wanna meet one after the game? 🤝

Ariel: Absolutely! And Flounder, don't those giant snails look like something from a dream? 🐌

Flounder: (nervously) More like a nightmare. 😬

[A particularly challenging level brings the characters together as they strategize and cheer each other on.]

Squidward: (grumbling) Well, if this game were an art form, it would be abstract nonsense. 🎨

Pearl: (excitedly) Dad, we should totally redecorate Bikini Bottom too! I can see it now—pearl-themed everything! 💖

[The characters exchange banter and tips, creating a blend of both underwater worlds.]

Patrick: Ariel, do you have mayonnaise under the sea? 🤔

Ariel: (confused) Um, no, Patrick. We have seaweed and... oh, never mind. 🌿

[As they reach the end of a challenging level, cheers erupt from the players, creating a harmonious blend of voices from Bikini Bottom and Atlantica.]

SpongeBob: Victory screech! (imitates victory screech) 🎉

Mr. Krabs: Well done, me crew! Now, back to work. We've got real treasure to find. 💼

[They continue playing, bonding over pearls, power-ups, and the joy of underwater adventures. Sebastian's Jamaican tunes mix with SpongeBob's sea shanties, creating a unique melody that echoes through the Krusty Krab.]

Sebastian: (singing) Under da sea, we play and be free, with pearls so shiny, just like a... 🐚

SpongeBob: ...pineapple under the sea! 🍍

[The characters laugh together, immersed in the joy of gaming and the camaraderie of underwater pals, as they discover that, whether from Bikini Bottom or Atlantica, the love for pearls and adventure is universal.]

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

*[Verse 1]*
Load up on pearls, join the spree,
It's fun to match and to splash with glee,
The ocean's vast, the orbs are sure,
Oh no, I've found a hidden shore.

Hello, hello, hello, so bright,
Hello, hello, hello, pure delight,
Hello, hello, hello, take flight,
Hello, hello, hello.

*[Chorus]*
With the pearls out, it's less mundane,
Here we dive now, entertain the brain,
I feel strategic and contagious,
Here we dive now, match outrageous.
A coral reef, a sunken ship,
A seahorse, let's take a trip.

Yeah, hey, yay.

*[Verse 2]*
I'm worse at matching, but I'm keen,
And for this game, I feel serene,
Our little puzzle has always been,
And always will, beneath the sea.

Hello, hello, hello, waves flow,
Hello, hello, hello, where currents go,
Hello, hello, hello, in the glow,
Hello, hello, hello.

*[Chorus]*
With the pearls out, it's less mundane,
Here we dive now, entertain the brain,
I feel strategic and contagious,
Here we dive now, match outrageous.
A coral reef, a sunken ship,
A seahorse, let's take a trip.

Yeah, hey, yay.

*[Bridge]*
And I forget just why I play,
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me sway,
I find it soothing, it's hard to part,
Oh well, whatever, dive and start.

Hello, hello, hello, waves flow,
Hello, hello, hello, where currents go,
Hello, hello, hello, in the glow,
Hello, hello, hello.

*[Chorus]*
With the pearls out, it's less mundane,
Here we dive now, entertain the brain,
I feel strategic and contagious,
Here we dive now, match outrageous.
A coral reef, a sunken ship,
A seahorse, let's take a trip.

A match-up, a power-up,
A puzzle, with joy fill my cup.

Fun interesting game. Easy to recommend.
At its base it is a match three, but with a new (to me) mechanism where the new colored pieces (pearls in this case) are dropped from above, and trying to get the piece where you want it can be tricky.
They roll, and bounce off of a variety of surfaces, with wheels and such occasionally in the way.
The game does allow you, over time, to get some special pearls to help you on your way, but there are more rare than I am used to.
Still the balance is good, and while some levels get frustrating in general it is fun.
The only real issue I have with things is that for me the orange and yellow pearls are often hard for me to distinguish.
The controls work fine, and I enjoy the music.
In addition to the core levels, there are challenge levels, and Zen levels.
There are also two different kinds of levels, one where you need to get your pearls to touch all the stars, bouncing down pegs , the other involves finding hidden objects, but unlike typical hidden object games, these objects actually fade from view and reappear and you need to spot them when they appear, while also popping rising bubbles that act as a distraction.
There is an underlying story, collecting pearls for the queen to save Atlantis, but it doesn't get in the way of game play.
All together it is a fun game. I am over half-way thru the main story line at only three hours, so don't expect a long game, but I feel like it will have some replayability.
Thumbs up!
ADDENDUM: Had a few more levels that I expected. I didn't strive for all the achievements, but I finally beat all the levels and played about two hundred of the zen levels, about to put this to bed with a little over seventeen hours of play time. Pretty good.

Very relaxing and casual game.
Interesting mix of match-3 and physics-based puzzles.
Zen mode is very chill, no timers, no pressure. Low payout of in-game currency needed to buy power-ups, but if you aren't looking to fly through the levels for achievements, Zen mode is very useful for just building up coin to buy every power-up, to make the regular and challenging levels easier to clear with 3 stars.

Good progression of difficulty, increasing skill needed on the regular levels.
Zen levels progress at about the same pace, without the pressure of timers or "clear all of the xyz"goals.

Not a quick and easy achievement hunter game- there will be grind, but if you just want it as a time-killer, the grind is fairly relaxing.
Just over 5 hours in at the time of this review, so I may feel like I need to come back and update it once I get into some of the expected difficulty in higher levels, but I am not expecting things to get rage-inducing. I am more expecting things to get a bit boring, with a good bit of repetition. This is likely to just be a time-killer game for me, no rush to 100% it.

Graphics are pretty, if a bit boring. Music is repetitive, but not obnoxious, appropriate background music for the game.
Not many settings to customize the game, people who have any form of colorblindness may have problems with the pearls being too close in color (the yellow and orange pearls are sometimes hard to tell apart), or in general, with red-green or blue-green pearls sitting side by side. No colorblind mode available. Music and interaction sounds are pretty much just for ambiance, the game is playable, no issues, with no sound, so a good casual game for Deaf and HoH players.

some thinking required to work out the physics (which can be a little wonky at times) to solve some of the puzzles, but nothing too tough, and you can replay levels at any time t try to clear all with 3 stars.

Good at a discount, full price may be a bit much, though if you do want to unlock all achievements, the price/hr even at full price isn't bad. Looking at global achievements though, it shows that most players seem to lose interest before clearing about half of the achievements. If you are looking for fast action, this isn't going to be for you. Looking for a chill time-killer to start your day, sure, get it.

ONE-THOUSAND LEVELS ON ZEN - One-thousand levels to get the last achievement. If you are the even a little bit OCD, do not buy this game. One thousand levels, and there's only a couple of tens of different screens to get through. By the time I was five-hundred screens in, it was too late to give up. I had to keep ploughing onward.

It was alright up until the zen bit. The main levels are fun, the challenge levels are nicely thought out. Maxis Marble Drop was a better game in almost every way, but this does its best. The game feels as if some designer sat in a room and said "How about we take Columns and cross it with Pachinko and then make it really slow" - currently I resent every second I spent on this game, but it's not that bad to be honest ... but a thousand levels, really?

Well I've played over 50 hours of this game, I think it's past time for a review.

It's kind of match 3 with physics! You have to drop the (pearls, as they call them but you can call them balls or orbs, whatever) orbs and hope it hits two or more of the same color so they match and disappear. With the physics, though, the orbs move around and aiming can be tricky sometimes. There are still two levels I have not been able to get all 3 stars on, so what does that tell you! Some of those levels are devious! I think half of my playtime was getting all the 3 stars, along with some zen mode play (easy). Each level has 3 objects that you must achieve to get the stars. They change depending on the design of the level. Sometimes it's "finish within 3 minutes". Stuff like that.

The designs are ingeniously made to be difficult, which is a good thing for people like me who love a challenge like this. If you are an achievement hunter looking for an easy 100% then look elsewhere cuz this game has one achievement where you have to play zen mode 1,000 times! That will take awhile. I havn'et even hit the halfway mark, though I bet I'm close. If you could care less about achievement and want a brilliant puzzle game then look no further!

Story: Story? What story? Oh, yeah, something something about getting pearls to rebuild the bubble shield around Atlantis on the bottom of the sea. Something cracked the shield and water is getting inside, oh no! That's about it. Sorry for those of you who love a story along with the puzzle gaming. THis is about the barest story I've ever seen. There's more holes in this story than swiss cheese!

Bonuses: What would be a match 3 game without some form of bonus you unlock as you play?! In this game you rack up stars by finishing levels (1,2,or 3) based on difficulty, and once you get twenty you can unlock one of the bonuses. And they can be very helpful indeed. Once unlocked they randomly appear in certain levels and in the zen mode. So getting 3 stars on a certain level will be easy if you have the bomb bonus. The bonuses will appear inside an orb and when you match it then the it overrides the next color orb and instead puts the bonus (bomb, etc.) to drop.

Let me list the bonuses: The BOMB obviously blows up, but you have no control over when it blows. It will blow a second after hitting any orb. The LIGHTNING one is another of my favorites. Once dropped it will activate as soon as it hits another orb and send out lighting all over and any orb it touches will disapper. The RAINBOW orb will make all the orbs of one color disappear as soon as it touches one of that color. (I forget what they call this next one) The LINE orb will zap a horizontal line as soon as it touches any orb. Can be helpful if used strategically. The BOUNCY orb will bounce around and sometimes bounce out of the playfield and fall off into the black nothingness. So be careful when using the bouncy one! The SWITCH one I don't find helpful. When it hits an orb it will swap that orb with the bottommost orb. Gee so helpful, thanks. Another one I don't find all that helpful zaps a vertical line when it hits and orb. And the line it zaps is only one orb wide, so it doesn't really zap as many as it looks like from the graphical display.

Music: soothing, I still like it even after 50 hours of listening to it repeat. My mind gets focused on the puzzle and I tend to ignore music. I mean, it's not the greatest zen music of all time but it fits the game and is decent. Special effect sounds are also okay, not annoying.

One feature I found in this game that I have not found in some others is the ability to have more than one player's saved data. You can have up to five people who are playing the game, not all at once but have their data saved. When you first start it shows you five icons (fishy things) that represent the saved data files and asks you to choose which one you want.

What else? Post a comment if I missed something. Oh, and I bought this on Steam when it was on sale.

Drop pearls to combine in to three, based on an old arcade game thats like an upside down puzzle bobble.

Nice idea, Ive been waiting for someone to ressurect the concept... now I maybe wish they hadnt.
To list a bunch of the issues:

- Windowed mode was one of the first features of PC games, so it is genuinely astonishing to me how many people still screw it up or exclude it. In this case it doesnt lock your cursor in, nor does it let you set the size. So after a few levels I used the game to keep my hands busy while watching some streams, but the cursor is flying over the screen and periodically pausing the video or clicking something else.

- Levels are purposefully built to make it essentially impossible to know where your pearls will end up. Multiple ricochets, no way of ditching balls out of the level on some of them so if you get the wrong inputs you just end up with an unavoidable mess etc.

- Pearls will sometimes land with a spin applied. Was this built it? I cant imagine why it would be, but then I cant imagine why youd build levels deliberately making random chance a bigger part of your gameplay. Pearls will always tend to bounce, and often bounce really far turning shots in to a crap shoot.

- Obstacles are so poorly designed I am again genuinely not sure if they are mistakes or deliberate, eg. corridors for the balls that are actually too narrow so balls will get stuck, wheels that can get locked up with balls stuck in the mechanism.

- Some of the power ups are almost useless, some are devestatingly powerful, one of them that swaps a needed piece from the bottom to the top actually works against you: In order to 3 star levels you very often have to leave one of the needed pearls till the end and swaps entire purpose is to make that harder to do. Oh, and the power ups turn up entirely randomly too, so sometimes a level will be effortless, sometimes actually harder to finish based on a dice roll.

- Speaking of three star goals, if youve made every other level reliant on pure blind luck throwing on a timer as well _is not fun_. Its as if they looked at the original arcade game, saw a timer, and figured they should put it in there too without any good reason. There is way, waaaaay more game than is required to have a timer on levels you sometimes literally can not finish in time. Im not putting coins in an arcade machine here, you dont get any more money from me for making me arbitrarily lose, stop trying to burn off my plays.

- More than that the leaving pearls to the end goal turns up on every other level and compounds all the other issues, trying to specifically narrow down to the right pearls or the level will end immediately when you need to clear the whole thing out is just a chore.

Ultimately any enjoyment is utterly crippled by RNG, does it take time? Certainly. Is it addictive at times? Sure can be. Is it fun? Good lord, no. Not even a little bit.

The Zen mode is probably the best part but even this is marred by bad level design which can leave one pearl trapped somewhere and any attempt to free it leaves another pearl trapped in the same place, (For that matter, any area of the game that has a flat bottom to it is made an immediate pain to work with because of how things spread out.) and the random nature of it means that levels can end in under 5 seconds up to a few minutes of play. Either way 1000 of them to get the last achievement is a pretty absurd amount, the idea that long playtime = good game probably says a lot about where the design of this went so badly wrong. Perhaps if I have a lot more TV to watch Ill get those last achievements one day...

Game Information

"Atlantis: Pearls of the Deep" is a Marble Popper game. The game was developed by Alder Games and published by Legacy Games.

The Game Review

Game Visuals

I want to mention that the visuals for this game are well done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu.

Game Audio

I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well.

Gameplay

There are no game difficulty modes to choose from. But all levels have their own difficulty.

This is a marble popper game. It is similar to a match 3 game. The goal for this game is to clear the marbles from the level with as few moves as possible. All the levels that have objectives assigned to them. There is a timer in-game but the time on the timer is generous for most parts.

There are hidden object levels in the game as well. The items to find are often repeated throughout the game.

There are stars to be earned from playing the game. The star's coins pay out when the level is complete with the objectives has been met. You can still earn star coins if only one or two level objectives have been met. Replaying the levels will improve the amount of stars earned. You can earn up to three stars.

The star coins are used to purchase in-game power ups to use in the marble popper levels. Each power ups require a certain amount of star coins. There are seven different power ups to obtain in the game. The power ups help completing the marble popper levels much quicker before the timer runs out.

There are fourteen different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked.

Miscellaneous

There are six different trading cards to collect. The game only drops three of those trading cards. There are several ways to get the rest of the trading cards: Purchased from the Steam's Community Market; Trade with friends; Booster Packs and its Booster Pack Creator.

Final thoughts: I do not think that this marble popper game has much replay value. If you are into marble popper games. Then you might find this game enjoyable to a certain extent. But do not get the game at its' full price value.

Atlantis: Pearls of the Deep is a match 3 game which uses physics. Much like in another game by the same studio, League of Mermaids, you clear boards by dropping coloured pearls on top of existing pearls. A match of 3 (or more) will clear it and gradually empty the board.

Boards are not just rectangular pits but are of very different sizes and include obstacles such as gears, rotatable platforms, or balls which must be unlocked first. There are multiple upgrades, which have to be earned by clearing boards with 1 to 3 stars, 3 being best. You earn stars by doing optional objectives on each board which range from clearing it within a specific time, clearing all pearls instead of just the ones containing items, or collecting additional star objectives.

Every five levels the gameplay is broken up by a simple hidden object game where you need to find shells, sea-horses, gems and the like.

There is a story, which is told by static images. It didn't interest me at all but it doesn't hurt either.

Copying from my review for League of Mermaids here:
If you're still not sure what this game is like, think of a cross between Bubble Bobble, Peggle, and a basic match 3 game. Add some relaxing music and cute graphics, and you have Atlantis.

If I were to have to pick between the two, Atlantis currently gets my selection since it has more variation in gameplay than Pearls.

An OK Match 3 game, that starts out like a simple bubble shooter, but ends being a straight up puzzle game.
Plenty of challenge levels and and endless zen mode as well.

This game was just what I was looking for! I love bubble games, and this one is unique with the upside-down, gravity-reliant approach and marble-like feel of the pearls. It's a very soothing game that you could play for hours, and come back to again and again. Definitely worth the $6.99 I spent.

Atlantis:Pearls of the Deep

This is a Wonderful very relaxing & addictive match 3 game using differant coloured pearls as drops. This game is very much like "League of Mermaids" but with a differant story & extra added hidden object levels.

Game runs well on windows 10, & I'm enjoying my casual free time playing it. Collect & earn as many stars as possible to earn achievements. Also game has trading cards and so on.

Wait for a nice sale if you think the price is out of your price range. None the less for me its a very nice game & I wanted it :P , now I will continue to play and enjoy my time with this game till I 100% complete it ;D .
