A fairy good interactive fiction game. :)
another review I know wrote, that went missing,.. really really makes me wish I could reach out to who ever is pulling them and have a discussion.
SIGH, anyways this game is a lot nonsensical fun. It really is entertaining and gives you alot of different ways to go through it, with endings that match your choices. I have alot of fond memories of it, and still cant decide if my favorite LI is the one who gets transformed or myself ( yeah no spoilers there but omg its a funny funny situation if you follow up on that one, though it end rather sadly of course )
Anyway, I highly recommend this one for when you want some nonserious fluff to make you smile and laugh.
A short, (playtime is yet again me forgetting to close out these games) silly, enjoyable experience.
I was thoroughly displeased during the entire game, but managed to force myself to play the game till the end, in hopes that things would turn around...Well, I was wrong. Boring romance options--it is the first time I didn't care about who I would romance--boring world, and a boring story that jumped from one event to the other at the snap of a finger. It felt like several different stories sloppily put together rather than one coherent and well-written game.
Barely got 2 hours of gameplay. Not worth the high price it is asking.
So while the story did have some charm, I simply couldn't attach myself to it. Whenever the dialogue forces me repeatedly to act like a prissy child.... it doesn't sit right. I simply can't recommend this game as it is a very forced narrative. I'd give this a 3/10.
I don't mind love stories or Fantasy but this is a dumb one.
MOst importantly - it's hilarious. Well, maybe not that hilarious, but it is funny. And in my oinion, humor is the decisive factor in whether a story was good or not.
However, that's not the only good bit. The story was interesting, the characters were fun, the plot was nice, etc. etc.
10/10.
Really, the best one I've read so far. Too bad it's not cheap, because that would make it even better. Also, it's not very long. Yes, I know it says 190k words, but it took me 1:20 hours.
Still, that's one great hour.

The very best you can do with a textbased game. The story is funny,and sometimes touching depending on the choises.
Oh man I had a great time playing this. One of the better written Choice of Games game. Very entertaining, so funny. Tongue in cheek is definitely the right way to describe us. I was happy to just go with the flow with this one. What happens, happens. Either way I was entertained. So many great moments.
I liked this one more on its second play-through than the first. It is well-written and long enough to make it acceptable at its price. The writing is clever and tongue-in-cheek. Another reviewer compared it to Artemis Fowl and I think that's apt. I definitely felt that the major supporting characters each had enough distinquishing personality to make them interesting. The choices that I made seemed to effect the overall story which is something I really like in a CYOA novel. It isn't necessary to be familiar with Midsummer's Night Dream to enjoy it but I think it would definitely help and make a player more appreciative of the style and characters. I would not call this a parody nor a reboot of the play, just a cleverly inspired little game.

3-4 hours to finish only the first playthrough for $3.99 is a pretty good deal! One of the best COG games. If you like their other ones you'll most likely enjoy this one. Well-written and engaging as always.
I haven't read Midsummer Night's Dream (I'm an uncultured git), so I can't comment on how closely this is to the original play. But on it's own merits, I liked this game a lot. It had a lot of cool choices, and I felt like they actually made a difference in the story. It's a short game; I finished it in 3 hours. But it's really cheap, so I definitely feel I got my money's worth.
If I had to complain about anything, it would be the occasionally obtuse stat requirements. I'm not against stat systems in general, but there were times where I couldn't tell if a choice would use Wit or Charm or some other stat, which was frustrating. That being said, this flaw is present in most text-based games, so this is more of a complaint about the genre than this game in particular.
Overall I liked it, and recommend it to anyone who's a fan of text games.
I enjoyed A Midsummer's Night's Choice better than some of the other Choice of Games' selections. The writing is quick and jaunts along, much like the game's narrative. The plot itself wasn't necessarily unique, but it is imitating that sort of starcrossed romantic comedy thing and it didn't bother me. If you're looking for a serious story, you might want to turn away from this one. The characters were endearing and it felt like my choices did make a difference in how the story proceeded. I'd have to play another run through to be more sure of this, but there were definitely a few times my choices didn't go as planned because of how my stats changed.
A lot of the choices and selections don't feel as in depth as something like Choice of Robots, but it did not detract from the story immersion. There were some areas that could have been edited to flow better (redundant word usage was also a bit of an issue in certain places).
Overall, this was a really enjoyable CYOA and I'm looking forward to playing it again! If you're looking for some light-hearted comedy-romance, then this would be a fun game for you!
It's a pretty cheap game and I thoroughly enjoyed it for 2 hours straight, start to finish. I'll probably end up playing it a few more times just to see more dialogue options.
Sometimes anticipating twists does not ruin your enjoyment. If you are familiar with Midsummer Night's Dream, there isn't anything that will surprise you, but the setting is different enough that you aren't reading an exact translation. It's still a romp in the woods. You've got star-crossed lovers, magical enchantments, and nobles-in-disguise. The faeries read a little more like Artemis Fowl than Shakespeare. There's more tiny wings and petulance than innuedo and bickering. (Your reading of Artemis Fowl may vary.) Of interest, this game only has a Faerie Queen, and no Oberon or Puck. Even so, I enjoyed the game. There's some options for replayability. It's a nice way to spend a few hours.
I really enjoyed this one and think its one of the better CYOA out there.
