Dive right into the stunning graphics and mesmerizing adventure story by customizing your character to match your unique style. Inspired by the childhood practice of crafting paper and cardboard toys, you can enjoy nearly unlimited flexibility in the graphic version, too! Set the gender, fashion the coolest outfit, pick out your backpack, and stock up on weapons to get you started in the game. Once you’re ready, your Squareface character is launched into the dangerous world with a little bit of cash, an intriguing story, and a few weapons for defense.

As the action unfolds and the adventures direct your journey, your character will pick up a variety of items, tools, and friends to help you win the war. Grenades, mines, guns, canons, and a variety of other artillery line your paper pockets to blast away your enemies and fight through challenges while you reach important check points. You will discover that there are nearly as many weapons to discover and use as there are enemies! Choose your favorite way to shoot, blast, and explode your way to victory.

In a universe that makes everything look and feel huge, comes a paper character set to prove itself. Lifestyle being very important, the persona can be very customizable. The way your character looks gives you two main features: pocket size for all the cash and, of course, coolness as a skill. What your character does is entirely up to your imagination.
Small crafted or living creatures can be the user’s companions in the paper adventure in which they will never leave the character’s side. They have some characteristics: pocket size, damage and speed. They can receive an attack order and will carry the extra money the user will be making. The pets can find shelter in the Barracks.
Paper and cardboard can be surprising and they have never offered so much choice until now via the customization options. The player’s character is adjustable to any preference. It takes you back to your early childhood. One can choose the gender, the weapons, the clothes for every part of its body, most of them independent of the previous gender selection, and various backpacks. One can dress or equip to be able to, technically, go to any world event, festival or war. All the costumes will be available as unlocks, giving the user the extra choice to actually print their own blueprints and craft them manually. The real life models can then be used as tokens for the Squareface: Board Game.
Make an everlasting souvenir aka trophy-like paper toy exactly as your favourite character. Among the many costumes the game offers, you can choose to print one or more, that are already available in-game. Bring your character to life and it will be with you for the rest of your life, or until you drop it in the water. Here's an example blueprint to play with:
The user can choose from melee, primary and secondary weapons, lots of grenades and mines. It’s simply fun to choose the method one’s enemies die.
Build your own base of operations by learning how to craft paper structures that will offer you protection, expanded carrying capacity, troops recruiting, vehicles management and more.
Vehicles provide transportation and safety. Depending on the garage the user has, he or she can significantly upgrade the car, truck, etc. One can, of course, race.

This game lacks polish, but makes up for it with a lot of heart. Game is prone to be buggy, controls are wonky, AI is basic, dialog boxes don't always pop up properly, and there is a weightlessness to everything (they are made of paper after all) however, there are a lot of cool elements here. Level, scale, concept, and character designs are so imaginative that it made me stick with it to the end. Think of it as a paper-craft Toy Story game with guns, vehicles, war, and base building. I had a good time and would say its worth the price. Give this one a try.
Great little game, camera is a bit annoying and AI should better. But for $5 its good!
I had previousdly recommended agaisnt this game but after getting 100% of the achievements my opinion has changed. Sure, the game is buggy sometimes but it has alot of character.

Pros:
Zombies flip you off.
Interesting unlock-able abilities.
Interesting use of scale having the player be really small in regular environments.
Variety of mission objectives.
Cons:
Shield Zombies are stronger than towers...
Can't skip dialogue.

I'd recommend giving this a shot on sale. It's well worth it just to experience the concept of the game. You might even find yourself playing through all 4 chapters. Good luck have fun.
Before anything, be aware that the game was kind of abandoned, and I'll explain how later in this review.
+ Interesting concept
+ A decent number of cosmetic options as well as weapons
+ Gameplay might take a bit getting used to but it's decent enough
+ Level design is interesting, fitting the premise really well
- You spend A LOT of time playing the same map with different objectives
- Controls are difficult to get used to if playing with a controller (not "full" support at all, so don't expect controller glyphs and ease to navigate menus)
- Dialogue with other characters is rather annoying, especially if you're supposed to defeat zombies while they mumble
- The story isn't particularly engaging anyway, so whatever
- Game has been abandoned
And I know a fully released game being abandoned sounds weird. To be fair Squareface feels complete (for the most part if you don't play with a controller, cuz otherwise you'll feel it's missing some tweaking). Problem is, the developers took it upon themselves to expand the game *for free* with a open world mode. This open world mode has been in beta since 2017. No new updates have been made since its introduction, nor have the devs given signs of life. This open world mode is OK as it is, but it's not complete. So while the rest of the game might be worth fiddling with from time to time, that mode in particularly lacks polish (which the game also lacks to a degree, but it feels far more complete than the open world mode).
Plus, the website for the game isn't being hosted anymore, meaning you can't print your custom character. It isn't anything big, but it'd be cool to have that little piece of memorabilia. And them abandoning the website definitely means they have no plans to ever return to this game. Like, ever again.
It's a really cheap game to begin with but just to be sure, purchase it when it's on sale. I got it for less than R$10 a while back and for the price I got it for, I definitely don't regret the purchase. It's been fun to play it every now and again when I'm bored. But if you're expecting anything more than an unfinished game that doesn't play too well with a controller, maybe pass this or get it when it gets a huge discount.
Thumbs up if you take all of that into consideration. Not an awful game at all. Not great either. Shame that it's been abandoned, though.
As much as I want to recommend this game, I can't.
The Good:
* Unique setting and artstyle, everything is paper and carboard. You're a small paper figure in a human sized environment.
* Okay story (as far as I have progressed)
* Customizing the looks of your character, you even could print them out (!)
* An array of weapons to choose from
* Pets
* Light tower defence elements
The Bad:
* Clunky mechanics
* Weird aiming
* Both above make the game more frustrating than hard
* You run out of ammo way too fast
* As other reviews have said, the ally and pet AI is very bad.
The Ugly:
* Rare game breaking bugs (stuck UI, allies dieing due to being stuck and stupid AI)
Overall it's decent, but heavily lacks polish. Looking at the age of the game, there probably won't be any more bugfixes/changes.
If you still want to buy it, grab it only on a sale with at least 50% discount.
This game is fun. For the price its definitely worth it. Honestly, it took me a while to get used to it, you've gotta play it like a tower defence/offense game, switching between the two as the situation changes. More importantly running about with a minigun and a tomahawk, shooting zombies, can finally be ticked off my bucket list!
Cannot invert Y axis.
Has option to invert BOTH X and Y axis but no one wants to invert the X axis...
Y axis inversion is a standard option in almost all games, indie devs need to get with the program and include this simple feature.
This game seems like a small indie game but it actually has many contents that might surprise you
First off, It is not a regular linear game where there is nothing more to do after you beat the game, it has some other interesting modes like racing(yes, racing, thats unexpected isnt it?), survival(How long can you survive when youre up against limitless zombies) and Open world(this one really surprised me).
You can customize your character freely and there are lots of options for you including colors, faces, and clothes If i recall correctly LOL.
There are many weapons and pets for you to choose, you can pick a pet and bring it with you anywhere. Overall, it's a good game, and it's worth your money.
Why does it run in very Low FPS? dunno why my laptop is GTX 950M but its Capping at 15FPS? :|
I'd say the dollar to hour ratio is perfect. If you enjoy small characters in a giant world then this is right up your alley. The game reminded me a little bit of old Army Men Games for the PS2.
The controls are a little wonky if you play with a controller. But for the price you are paying for this full fledged cutesy sandbox, it's worth it.
This game is probably one of the most uniquely fun zombie survival games I've played in a while. Considering there is literally so much to actually do in the game, and the environment your set in is very unique and amazingly detailed, you might want to check out this game. Not to mention you can drive cars, personalize your character, buy new weapons, complete survival missions in different survival modes, and much more! And if the author is reading this: PLEASE ADD MULTIPLAYER. I cannot even imagine how much more fun and addicting this game would be! (PS: it's already VERY fun and addicting, it would just be funner!)
The ONLY complaint I really have is for small and very minor bugs, like getting stuck in certain map areas by zombies, and that's really it,....all I can really say is this game is definitely worth the money, and VERY addicting, and amazingly fun. Fantastic game, 9/10, I took 1 point off only because of the minor bugs. Hope this review helped!
great game! have not every played a game quite like this, just a few bugs i encountered that was kind of frusterating like were in the main menu when you try to switch wepons,clothes,or pets it wont let you exit or go back and thats about it. great game overall a few tweaks here and there and i think it will become an epic game overall. thanks so much for the fun expirence -jeff
It plays like a bad port of an IOS game. The controls are clunky, and the aiming doesn't line up with the crosshairs. The "voice acting", if you could call it that, sounds like some SIMS characters. There are grammar errors and spelling errors within the text in the game, and the camera moves very poorly compared to your character.
The style is nice, and I'm sure that, with a bit of work, this could be a very good game. When that happens, I'll change my review. But, as of now, I can't recommend this game, it's just not worth it.
Game Grumps sent me. Would not have heard of the game otherwise, but just watched an episode where they ran through the first couple missions and figured I would look into it. Once I noticed it was only 5 (on sale) bucks I couldn't help but buy it.
Fun Third Person Shooter / loose RPG
The NPCs like to get stuck on things, any the only real gripe I have is the system doesn't switch it's help system over if you decide to play it on controller.
Definitely would suggest grabbing for a decent amount of content especially at the discounted price.
Its like microvolts/ little big planet/ paint the town red, had a child. A fun and affordable gem in the works.
There is quite a bit of fun and potential in this game. Simply put, you are eased into the zombie experience and story with helpful and comic-esque instructions. Gamplay is smooth and controls are what you expect.
It will be nice to see:
*a fully open room, split screen or co-op horde survival mode with many zombies and mini quests
*traps that might catch the player (not just zombies) off guard
*more unlockables (as usual with games in dev)
*platforming obsticles would be fun
*focus or motion blur fixed durring some cutscenes
*ability to stay on melee weapon fixed (rather than auto-snap you to trigger fire) (ability to use mouse wheel to select weapons)
*in the skills screen, adding a highlight or halo around what you drag your mouse over

They did implement Controller support, which has made this game far more enjoyable. The game has it's unique design and character implementation, which is a big plus. Being from a team of only 2 people, I truly enjoy this game. Sadly if you look at my time, i havent had too much time to really put too much time into it. Still has some quirks but like I said, enjoyable.

I'm happy with my purchase, the game is fun, yet I hope they implement more features in the future (Co-op, more npcs, puzzles, more weapon/clothing choices, more facial options, something to feel the odd void you feel in the game). Can't wait to sink more time into them. To the creators, keep up the work :D

- Depth of Field gives me headaches (But you can turn it off ;) )
- Camera is very awkward ( Devs are very reactive and try to improve this)

I like the progess the way you build up to the defense aspect. It feels a little empty though. I wish things were a bit more easy to scale walk around etc. Zombies are kinda stupid..as they should be..but the AI needs improving both following pets and bad guys. Haven't really gotten into any crafting yet.
Pretty cool unique game so far, I enjoy it and recommends it!
