A really fun game. Works with Mizuma on FreeBSD 14.2
childhood game 10/10
🐺❄️ Greetings, fellow gamers and furriends! Kiba Snowpaw here, a 36-year-old Ice Wolf hailing from a chilly ice world, gaming since my cub years. Brace yourselves for an epic, frosty, and furry review of "Battle Time." Let's embark on a journey that combines strategy, drama, action, and comedy all in one howling package! 🎮💥
🎖️ ABOUT THE GAME
Battle Time takes you into the paw-some role of a true general, leading your army through 400 FAST BREATHTAKING BATTLES!!! With eye-candy graphics and dynamic gameplay, it's time to unleash your inner wolf and conquer the land!
🎭 THE DRAMA UNFOLDS
The game starts simple and quickly evolves into a fur-ocious battle for dominance. Choose your general, upgrade your characters, collect artifacts, and become the alpha of the battlefield!
🤣 LET THE FUN BEGIN!
Remember when I accidentally sent my troops to the wrong castle? I howled in laughter! The game is filled with such comedic gold. Just make sure to avoid my rookie mistakes, or you might find yourself on the wrong end of a cat-astrophe!
🎯 PROS
- Diverse Maps: Each map has a unique tactical objective. Trust me; I've seen more castles than there are fleas on a stray cat!
- Stunning Graphics: As an Ice Wolf, I appreciate beauty, and these graphics are cooler than a glacier.
- Control Like a Pack Leader: Easily control your army like a true alpha.
- Tail Wagging Gameplay: It's engaging, fun, and has some teeth to it!
- Value for Price: Runs well on my Windows XP machine, reminding me of my good old cub days.
- Wolf-worthy Upgrades: Your army gets STRONGER. Enough said!
🧩 CONS
- Repetitive Howls: The game gets grindy after some time, making me feel like I'm chasing my tail.
- A Waiting Game: Ever tried hunting without a pack? That's how it feels when building up your army.
- Upgrades? Meh: More underwhelming than a wet fur day.
- Buggy Barks: Some bugs need squashing, like the double-clicking issue.
- Lack of Explanation: I've spent more time understanding some game aspects than I have grooming my fur!
🐾 COMPARISON & IMPACT
Battle Time reminds me of other strategy games but with a fresh take. The castles, troops, and upgrades add a new layer of complexity that kept my tail wagging. It's like Clash of Clans meets Risk but with a furry twist.
🎓 IN-DEPTH EVALUATION
I love the balance between strategy and chaos. As an Ice Wolf general, I must carefully choose when to attack, defend, or simply laugh at my missteps. The different building types, character upgrades, and the fast-paced nature make it a fur-tastic experience.
🐱 CRITIQUE & SUGGESTIONS
- #UnleashTheUpgrades: Make the upgrades more noticeable. Give me that alpha feeling!
- #TailTutorials: Clearer instructions would be more welcome than a belly rub.
- #BugBite: Squash those bugs like a pesky flea on my fur!
[*]#MoreVarietyPlease: More levels, more challenges, more tail-wagging fun!
😻 CONCLUSION
Battle Time is like a mixed bag of catnip. It's addictive, fun, and you never quite know what you're going to get. Yes, it has its flaws, but if you're looking for a game that will make you howl with joy, frustration, and excitement, this might just be the perfect game for you.

P.S. If you find any of my paw prints on the battlefield, let me know! 🐾
As a fan of strategy games, I was excited to try out Battle Time and I wasn't disappointed. The game provides a unique and enjoyable experience of leading your clan to victory through 400 breathtaking battles. The graphics are stunning and the controls are user-friendly, making it easy to control your army and capture your enemies' castles.
One of the standout features of Battle Time is the ability to choose from different generals, each with their own unique skills that are efficient for specific situations. Upgrading your characters' skills and collecting artifacts can improve the strength of your army and give you an edge in battles.
The game has plenty of maps, each with a unique tactical objective, ensuring that gameplay never gets dull. Additionally, the dynamic gameplay keeps you on your toes and engaged throughout the game.
Overall, I highly recommend Battle Time to anyone who enjoys action, adventure, and strategy games. It's a great addition to your Steam library and provides hours of entertainment.
good and easy tactics game
This is one of my favourite migration war games. Tons of levels and replayability.
I am ok with the level progression being too slow. This is a fun game for the first 20-30 minutes, and it gets extremely grindy after that. I still don't mind all that. The only part that makes this game really frustrating for me is the unfair AI. The enemy AI ALWAYS knows which castle I am about to attack and reinforces it way before my army gets there. Whereas when he is sending a large army towards me, I have no idea which of my castles he is planning to attack. Either make the AI guess also when we're attacking it, or give us an option to know which of our castles is being targeted when he's attacking us so we can reinforce it, that will level the playing field. Otherwise this game is not worth playing in the higher levels.
Its s an okay game. The graphics are pretty good the reaction time is impecable. Its fun till you get to level 20 and up due to the game getting harder. Shouldnt even be on steam in my opinion should be on the IOS
It is a great time killer. Unfortunately at levels around 23-24 you need to upgrade or "you shall not pass" which makes you kinda angry. other than that overall is good game.
I think the controls/UI is a bit rubbish, upgrades are shallow (+1% to atk,def,... each time you upgrade), but the game is great and will last you a long time. If you don't like galcon type of games you'll not like this. For example:
galcon 2 (free)
planet-wars (flash)
planets under attack)
This simple strategy game is incredibly repetitive, yet the gameplay keeps you hooked.. fun! Some elements are confusing at first, though your strategy becomes second nature after time. The main issue is the grinding required to progress, expect to do a lot of it.. rewards in this game come at a snail's pace.
Funny little game to pass time. The graphics are not excellent, but everything is easy to identify. The gameplay is not hard, but can be challenging on the later levels (or early levels on higher difficulty). The sound is funny (especially the battle cries of the troops) though I'd love to have a little more variety.
The main course is: you have one or more buildings, that are producing troops, with which you can attack enemy (or neutral) buildings to capture. It is possible to upgrade them to be able to house more troops (which makes them harder to capture for the enemy).
Overall: not that expensive at all, so you aren't risking much. Give it a try if you are into this kind of stuff.
Very nice principle so badly implemented. Fun the first hour, then so boring. Just avoid it.
The Difficulty curve in this game is RIDICULOUS and insanely frustrating at times. Still, a very fun game. Simple gameplay, yet still retains some complex strategy. well worth a dollar. Must grab on sale.
Not a bad little strategy game. A good game for the kids very easy to play. I found the difficult setting very difficult. A great time killer.
The concept is fun for the first 2 hours.
But then it is frustrated to win a match. The levels of difficulty are very unbalanced.
It takes ages to grind some coins and you have te repeat the same levels again with the same difficulty.
From level 24 it is even not possible to win on the lowest difficulty.
For the first 15 minutes I sort of admired the simplicity of the game. Then it became repetitive and pointless.
In so many games we insist on the implementation of rally points for moving newly created units towards the front lines. Now here's this game where we're supposed to find enjoyment in manually performing that same task of micromanaging masses of troops. On top of it, only half the units can be moved from a castle at a time. If you end up with more than 50 units in a castle, the cap will raise briefly and then you'll start losing the overage.
Go spend the money on a Snickers bar or something... it'll be more satisfying.
TL,DR - an inexpensive and simple but yet still interesting game where you try to defeat your opponents through strategising and clicking and has many elements that allow you to strategise. For most it is probably enjoyable for the first couple of hours before feeling draggy/grindy and this long review details all aspects of the gameplay, problems observed so far and suggestions because I see good potential in this game and hope that with my suggestions this could be a game can could entertain players for a very, very long time...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, I want to clarify that this isn't really a bad game (esp. considering the price) but at the moment it hasn't been enjoyable enough and there are some problems / bugs that, if resolved, would make this a MUCH more engaging game (and I would be happy to recommend the game if addressed). But before that, some info about the game.
The concept of the game is simple - there are 80 maps where you will need to defeat 1-3 opponents. On each map, each side starts with at least a building with a fixed number of troops and this number of troops will increase with time, up to the limit of the building (each building can go up to level 5). The growth rate for the opponents increases with the difficulty (there are 5 levels).
Playing the game is easy and pretty fun initially which is probably the reason why so far most have recommended the game - you click on your building(s) that you wish to send the troops from and then click on the building that you wish to attack (or by clicking on another of your own building you could also reinforce your defense). Each time you will send half of the amount of troops you have currently in your building (which is important as it leaves the other half to defend). At all times you will get to see the number of troops in all buildings (yours, neutral's, and opponent's) so you can plan accordingly the order of attack. Against weaker AI at lower difficulty levels you could at times wait for them to attack a neutral building sufficiently before sending your troops to capture the weakened enemy.
The strategic element to the game is further strengthened by 3 factors:
(1) There are 3 types of soldiers - regular, speedy, strong. The speedy and strong are useful against certain types of buildings.
(2) There are 5 types of buildings (I think) - the ones that produce each of the 3 types of soldiers, the tower (which helps to kill troops that come within a certain range but does not regenerate troops), the fort (which has stronger defense).
(3) There are 8 types of upgrades - 3 for the troops (armor, attack, speed), 3 for the buildings (defense, tower attack, growth rate), 2 for special powers that can be used after certain periods of time (war trophy, morale) or when you use a star (something that you can get by winning every battle or hitting certain milestones in the achievements). These upgrades can be further split into 2 - a passive one and the active one that is used when the special power is activated.
To buy the upgrades, you need to use the gold that can be obtained in 2 ways:
(1) winning battles (varies with map and difficulty - at level 1 difficulty 1st map 100 gold, 2nd map 110 gold, etc. and with increasing difficulty the amount multiplies by 2, 3, 4, or 5)
(2) hitting certain milestones in achievements (there are 58 types - corresponding to the 58 Steam achievements currently) e.g. obtained certain amount of stars, defeated certain number of troops, etc.
At this stage it sounds like a really interesting game (and to be fair it is) so it's about time for me to discuss the problems (for me at least) with the upgrade system and achievements (as well as other bugs) because it makes the difference between a game that you can't stop playing compared to one that got too tiring after a while and you don't feel motivated to play longer.
(1) The upgrades feel very "meh" - in contrast to upgrade systems in other games whereby there's a clear effect of your upgrade e.g. higher health points, cheaper cost of troops, faster rate of fire etc. I don't feel any significant increase because the upgrades are all by 1% / 1 second. I don't feel that I won a battle just because of the extra 1% attack that I bought and at later levels when you have to pay thousands of gold for that 1% you just feel that the game is grindy. If the % was increased or more importantly the usefulness of it was clear in the game that allows me to strategise then players could appreciate it better.
Also, the upgrade costs later on seem to be too high, which, in addition to what I said above, makes the pace of the game very slow because any further improvements (which isn't even obvious) would require a fair bit of grinding. Could the cost be reduced or the gold amounts gained be increased?
(2) For the in-game achievements, you don't get any satisfaction as you progress in the game because it's never made known to you whether you have reached the next milestone for any of the 58 achievements and I think that's a real pity because it seems like something that could be easily rectified that can improve the gamer experience. Just a simple pop-up congratulating you for hitting a certain milestone with the added visual of the bonus gold / stars added to your current tally would make it more satisfying. Just a side-note that the Steam achievements are probably the final milestones and would take many, many hours to fulfil (e.g. getting 800 stars)
Something much more important though is the fact that there are possibly many achievements (the battle-related ones) that are broken (I experimented because I felt something was wrong and confirmed at least one). I noted down my stats before and after a battle and I hit the milestone for an achievement but was not given the rewards. This bug drastically slows your progress because all these achievements give you significant amounts of gold and stars (especially over a few milestones for each achievement) and is an issue that needs to be rectified asap.
Another issue I have is with keeping track of all the in-game achievements. I need to mouse scroll ONE BY ONE the 58 achievements to see my current level and the next milestone and it's a real chore. I'm sure they can be shown together, at least in their categories (e.g. (1) buildings captured / lost (2) troops killed / lost (3) skills upgraded, etc) and perhaps keyboard input could be included so that it is much easier to check on one's progress.
(3) In general, many aspects and terms of the game are not explained clearly. For example, there are some "permanent" upgrades but it is not clear what they do. There are some achievements related to "crusades" and various buildings which I don't recall hearing about even in the earlier levels of the game. While there is an info button that explains some aspects of the game, there are others that are vague. It would be helpful to have a tutorial / glossary section to explain all the details and also help recap certain things that may have been mentioned in the first few levels of the game.
(4) Some mentioned about the bug of the game registering a double click instead of single and I think it happened to me on a few occasions too though I can't really confirm cos normally it's very fast and furious in the game but I was pretty sure I only single clicked.
That's it (finally) and I really hope to see improvements in the game but will take a break from the game because of the issues mentioned that's why I'm not recommending it (for now)...
Yeah, the building bug mentioned in my old review, when you get in to the game more, it basically kills the entire thing dead. I lose buildings constantly, and now entire games get lost because a building that has no highlighting at all, that I didnt click on, sends out half its troops in the middle of being attacked... Its a game breakingly stupid bug and until they fix it stay away.
----
Click on buildings you want to attack with, click on the enemy to attack them. You have special powers, purchasable bonuses, a few different unit types, 5 levels of difficulty, and a lot of levels to battle across.
The music is a bit repetative and basic, and there seems to be a bug in that sometimes buildings that dont appear selected will send men out (Sometimes at really bad times as well, its lost me buildings a few times.)
Overall though its astonishingly good value for a few hours of simple but addictive fun.
First impression: It's a nice casual strategy game
...that gets grindy at some point, but that point is 50 levels and 4+ hours in (which is how far I got without doing any upgrades at all, levels 56 and 58). Battles are quick, the principle is not new, but the maps are well crafted and require you to devise a tactic that will let you win them. If you can see yourself playing casual strategy games at all, you'll think the 0.49 well spent. Just don't expect to get all of the achievements quickly, even getting the first achievement is not done lightly. If I was making use of the temporary bonuses (powerups), I might advance further.
Very good value for the price.
Runs well on my old Windows XP machine. Runs both fullscreen and windowed.
BattleTime is a surprisingly fun fast paced clicking game. The goal is to capture buildings, most of which train units. There are 3 types of units with different bonuses and 5 types of buildings.
The game has 80 levels and 5 difficulties. Each level takes roughly 5-10 minutes to complete on easiest difficulty, once you have it figured out (higher difficulties will likely take much longer; my maximum so far is ~60 minutes on difficulty 3).
In each level you are matched against 1-3 oponents. Killing units charges up a bar that allows you to use a massive 8 second buff, which can easily turn the tide.
Each beaten level gives you some gold (which you can invest in upgrading units/buildings) and a star (which can be used during levels for a buff, if the bar hasn't charged up yet and you need it). You can replay beaten levels to get more gold/stars, if you wish. There are also various achievements which grant them.
Pros:
- fast paced
- nice looking
- cheap
- a lot of content
- unit/building description accessible at any time
- upgradeable units/buildings
Cons:
- it felt like some levels repeated (with player on a different starting location), but I could be wrong
- game occasionally registers single click as double click (single click selects your building and double click sends all units from selected buildings to target friendly building)
- at most difficulties (2+) with multiple AI you may get into a stalemate, since when you try to defeat one of them, the others will likely attack at the same location (if they can reach it) giving the hurt AI time to recover. Well used short time bonuses are often the only way of winning those.
Fun game. It's a light strategy game similar to Planets Under Attack.
