SKIPCHASERS are a secretive group of gunmen scattered throughout the known universe. Combat ready and rapidly deployable, they have a reputation as ruthless paramilitary soldiers. Little is known about their origins, and less about their employer, the corporation know as M.O.T.H.E.R.
Contracts will send you all over the planet from salted wastelands to the bowels of the element mines long since abandoned. Here you will encounter all manner of human, alien and robotic brutes, making sure to keep your trigger finger ready at all times. With procedurally generated enemies it could be hours before you encounter the same one twice.
A SKIPCHASER's best friend is his weapon, so it should be completely customizable. With hundreds of possible combinations you can use the smithing system to create just the right ordnance for any enemy or situation.
SKIPCHASERs and enemies deal damage in three different types: fire, bio and cryo. Choosing the right gun to clear out a room adds the right amount strategy to this action experience.

Nobody will read my review so I Will FInd 1 Friend For Every Like this gets.
Would be a "Maybe" if I could. Close to being a neat little gem, but it lacks variety in game play and the story is a bit bare bones. Pick up on sale if you're interested.
+ Very atmospheric soundtrack
+ Clean art with a neat aesthetic
~ Xbox button prompts always on even when using a keyboard is odd
~ Gun customization is a cool idea, but doesn't really do anything interesting with it
- Vending machine power ups being both very short and having no visual indicator on length outside a text box saying its done make them not desirable and awkward to utilize
- Damage/difficulty scaling could be re-tuned and/or toned down as the game seems to get harder way faster than it takes for the game to scale back down. It also affects all levels so enemies are scaled just as hard in previous levels. The first level rats start with doing 5 damage per hit, but after beating the game and returning they did around 75. Then trying to lower the scaling takes way too many deaths and would be easier to just reset the entire game.

I got a 50% Off Coupon for this game and used it, got it for pretty cheap. This game looked somewhat good from the thumbnail, similar "20 Minutes Til Dawn", but I've only played 12 minutes and this is very disappointing. Free sound effects, repetitiveness, not great soundtrack, and a lack of graphics. I would not recommend.
Another game that had potential, but failed at providing good game play. Enemies have like 2 attacks. They either charge you like bulls or shoot while kiting.
After playing the game for a bit longer than my first review i think im willing to give it a positive instead of a negative. Because despite some issues like the weapons system not being like what i expected from the trailer, and the fact that a large portion of waves on the final stage are able to be impossible. I still enjoyed 90% of the gameplay and loved the animations and unique style. I also loved how every single mechanic in this game has a reasonable use to it. I think peole looking at this game should get it for sure but they have to listen to reviews and not the trailer to make that choice.
Got this as part of a bundle and had a great time. The randomly generated levels were a nice way to keep the game rolling after the main content is finished :D
I saw this cool looking game on itch a while back, and probably should have bought it there to support their storefront and give the developer a better cut.. but I ended up getting it here on steam because of the convenience of my existing library. I guess that's what the extra margin is for, higher conversion rate of browsers to purchasers.
But forget about all that, you don't care. You just want to know if the game is good. It is great! the art style is a lot of fun, the gun assembly is great and lets you customize your play style and easily swap between three different fully customized weapons depending on what you're fighting.
The arcade action feels pretty good. Challenging but not impossible. I'm not very good at that sort of thing so you might find it easy if you're really good at top-down shooters.
Now, be warned, there are a few bugs. I had a crash once and the screen went black another time, but the missions are short and it wasn't a big deal to restart.
The problem is that the game is too rough and has bugs for it to be recommended. While the shooting & levels are pretty standard the gun customization is cool! Swapping out gun parts that you find in the levels is great, especially since there are three different guns to play with. However, it could be explained a lot better. It's a little unclear what a part is going to change besides the numbers on the screen. Which isn't the full story.
The story is completely nonsensical but does that even matter? It's about the shooting.
What really sums it up is that at the end boss I died and respawned in the same room. But the screen didn't come back from the transition, it stayed a solid grey color. Well I died and tried again, OK back in the mix. Then it happened all over again. Well that's just too much crap to go through to try and finish this game. It's also not the first bug I encountered. I know bugs are difficult to get rid of and I'm typically very lenient but after death screen transition!?
Overall, SKIPCHASER is fine. If somehow you have more patience than me (you probably do) then I might consider this. I'm pretty sure I was about to make it to the end and I had a decent time getting there. There's no way I could thumbs up this now though :(

There is so little content in this game, bought it during EA and now more than a year later, there are nothing new to the gameplay loop that i can see.
Play the game for about 30-60 min and you have experienced all the weapon crafting system have to offer, and i did not find the combat engaging.
Really not a clone of HLD
Gameplay : Classic Top-Down shooter by stages no puzzles just gun-play, i like it.
Graphics : Simplistic and minimalist but not bad.

Controls :
- In the beginning it was a big problem for me and i almost did a negative review because of this.
- You can play with Gamepad or K/M but with Gamepad the aim is not really good and i prefer the Mouse for it but for the movements i prefer the joystick instead of W/A/S/D so i tried Key binding the movements to the joystick and the shooting to the mouse and it works great.
So what i did was selecting K/M changing the movements R/L - UP/DOWN into the joystick, the dash (X) into the left trigger (L2) and the action (A) on (L1) and kept the mouse settings and now the gameplay is so much better.
Recommended price : 6.99€ (3.99€ is good too).
Devs. activity : Yes they are on forum and fix any bug you can find.
Conclusion
First time i saw this game i thought it was a clone of Hyper Light Drifter but NO the only thing the same is the top down view.
With the controls i use the game is really good, without it maybe i would not like it so much, so thank you devs. to support Gamepad and Mouse simultaneously.
I can recommend this Top-Down Shooter to any fan.
In short, it's pretty good, basically.
The combat system feels sharp and gun customization is fun. The game is neither very hard nor long (it's quite short actually), but what's there has quality and some interresting mechanics. Coupled with a very reasonable price (€3.99 at the time of writing this) makes Skipchaser well worth picking up.
The game design is pretty lacking. What the games has in aesthetics it does not make up for in gameplay.
Although heart may have gone into it, I'm left with just... wow levels of disappointment.
Did they upload the right version of the game..? Am I missing something?? I think I had the same theme playing the whole time, which may have started pretty decent but got old quick. Combined with a small miriad of other bugs, samey enemies (although apperently they're all different), shallow combat, story, dungeons, and basically no loot or use for in-game currency, the game reeeally didn't meet my expectations. :(
Also, apperently there was elemental stuff? The game had no tutorial and no graphics to clearly discern weapon effectiveness. Apperently I played the whole 4 hours of the game and just spent the whole time wondering what was so special about the samey weapon mods... ):
Oh, by scrolling between my weapons I found their >shared< heat bar could be instantly reduced to zero.
I feel like this game has a lot of potential, however I was so frustrated by the controls that I had to step away. I tried both the gamepad and mouse controls, and with both control schemes it feels like about 10-20% of my aim commands are either not getting registered or not working in the correct direction. This is really frustrating since a lot of the starting enemies have no AI apart from "run up and glue themselves to your butt" and your only dodge tactic is a short-range teleport move that is just as beholden to the dodgy directional controls as the guns.
I also feel like the visual feedback for the grenade is not very informative. Presumably when you are aiming a grenade you want to keep an eye on your target, so why make a concentric circle around the player serve as the only visual feedback?
I do like the art style and I think there's a ton of potential around the core concept, but a game with uncooperative controls just falls at the first hurdle. I'll keep an eye on the updates and change my review if these issues are addressed.
Suprisingly easy game, straight forward and simple. Feels a bit lacking here and there, but for 37 NOK i'd say go for it.
In the first hours of the game, my game decided to crash sometimes when going into the next level. Also one time when going into a building to start a mission, one of the people in the building gives you 100 credits (the in game currency) and I though "Hey wait a miniute, everytime I leave the building and come back everyting resets". So I then left the building and reentered it to get 100 more credits..so and exploit..Well the game allowed It so why not go for gold. I then got like 10000 credits. Also your weapons have a cool down bar instead of ammo and if you cycle your list of weapons, it basicly resets your bar. Im not that much into the game but I think it needs more content personally and fixes. But I still recommend this game for its potential and fun gameplay. Not sure about the story thing yet but I just got it :P
Somehow interesting with a lot to polish, it is in Early Access so i wouldn't complaint but at the moment it is not worth the cash i spent, however graphically even if uncomplete it is catchy, especially for the colors, i'd recommend to fix a bit combat dynamics, (movement of the mobs), grenades (for example by showing the projectile line) and polish a bit the graphic, but overall the gameplay seems stable. I recommend this just because in E.A but i'm looking forward for updates. Stylish

I like that instead of ammo their is heat, I would say that making the gun glow as it gets hotter would be cool!
Would love to see the awsome soundtrack as a DLC to download!
DEV. NOTE: PLEASE MAKE IT SO THAT IF YOU HIT THE NEW GAME BUTTON THERE IS A COMFIRMATION POP-UP ITS BEEN 2 TIMES THAT I RESTARTED THE GAME MULTIPLE HOURS IN!
After a quick 15mins into SKIPCHASER, I encountered my first bug which resulted in me redoing the first misson.
Other than the bug, I enjoyed the gameplay, simplistic art graphics, and smooth controls.
However, there are a few things that they can improve obvisouly since this is a early access.
No audio options besides muting, and bugs (duh)...I can't say too much since I only have 15mins clocked in but I'll give it another go once this gets updated.
I recommend waiting until this product becomes more stable & playable.

The gunplay, soundtrack and art style are nice however there is so little of the game that it isn't worth checking out at the moment.
I found no bugs or weird issues.
No audio sliders.
Early access, still incredible style and drive. Can't wait to see more of this game!
Dungeon levels transition animations are amazing!
