A week ago I was diagnosed with MSD and the doctors have given me a year at best. I'm so glad I was able to play this before I go. I don't know how many people will see this; but I recommend to you to play this game if you do see it. Gameplay, atmosphere, graphics. everything is masterfully crafted. I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Lazy rip-off of Fruit Ninja, as if it weren't obvious.
The problems include
- Terrible game area scaling, making it so even the man with longest hands would be perplexed
- No design to how the candies are thrown, exect to be blasted from all sides unlike Fruit Ninja, which can be played without missing a fruit
- Despite being a small game with small resolution models, it runs sluggishly
- If you wanted to retaing any amount of immersion, good luck with that as you're cutting objects with a candy cane, a very much blunt weapon
- there is only one game mode, no leaderboards, no achievements, no anything
2/10, a waste of money even at such low price

Candy Smash VR is the most simplistic Fruit Ninja but for VR.
You start the game, hit some candy till the time is up and that's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
There is 1 level, no challenges, no upgrades, no difficulties or anything. A shame, it makes the game feel rather boring and repetitive after a few minutes of playing.
What does not help to make the game look better are some issues with the gameplay. Hit detection isn't always on spot resulting in your cane just phasing through candy while still not hitting it, or hitting candies you did no touch.
The game does have a nice cartoony candy style. The could have been okey if the devs would have put more effort in. At its current state it feels like they made and publish the game as quick as possible to catch some coin and leave.

Only owning this, for my Little Cousin to play, as where i live, there is a Store forcing 10€ for 5 Minutes of playing in VR, im glad my Cousin loves this game!

The game is upside down in glasses, there is no way to adjust the view, it's not my doing.

Candy Smash VR is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. It's important to also note the "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware.
Trinity Project/Wadup Games/Dnovel/Freeanimals_Software/Droid Riot (how many accounts does this guy use to mislead gamers and hide his identity?) have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:
- "69 Ways to Kill a Zombie" = Simple Apocalypse Cartoon Assets Pack developed by Synty Studios
- "Fox and Bunny" = Sunny Land developed by Ansimuz
[*] "Primitive Shooter" = Create a Game Source code developed by Sebastian Lague
So you can see this "developer" is insincere and is just dumping garbage like this onto Steam as a cash grab/scam.
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it's just Fruit Ninja, the mobile app, but presented badly in a 3D asset flipped VR environment. All you do is hit a button to slice the fruit that comes at you, but the scoring and depth is also more shallow than the Fruit Ninja mobile app this is ripping off. Oh, I sure do hope they take legal action.
It doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk.
Candy Smash VR is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
Ah, the dulcet tones of candy. How sweet they may appear on the surface, but as one is to discover, there is more substance than meets the eye. These sugary treats are more akin to the ones you would find on the ground rather than the ones you would find in the store. While some are sweet, the flavors are always tainted. The candy is a metaphor for the social hierarchy. Sweet on the surface, tainted when you dive deeper.
Those who engage with the candy are rewarded with an immediate sense of accomplishment and joy. However, these feelings are brief and fleeting, as the candy loses a significant amount of its flavor over time. Eventually, it becomes inedible and is discarded. One of the many themes portrayed here is a criticism of current social trends and the pursuit of hedonistic desires and instant gratification.
This game is a reminder that there is a duality of man. While some choose to bask in the alluring lights of opulence and hedonism, others revel in the tranquility of the humble life.
While there are many who will spend their finite time on this planet chasing after materialistic ideals, there is a large contingent of individuals who prefer to seek spiritual and emotional nourishment and seek to further enlighten themselves.
This game caters to both groups as it will either make you appreciate the simple things, or make you question their necessity.
One may assume that a game titled candy smash would appeal to those of young age, but what if you were able to peer into each participant’s mind. You would observe a cacophony of madness, as each individual is not simply smashing candy but are also fighting what seems to be a never-ending internal battle between what they want and what their conscience desires. The inner workings of the mind is but a minefield of potential peril for those who wish to uncover the mysterious allure of their dreams, wishes and aspirations.
For the candy is not simply a confecture of sugar, but a metaphor for life itself, for when we venture off into the unknown we are but a candy that is about to be crushed.

I played this on the Oculus Rift with Touch controllers .. and it works, sort of. But it's still not a fun game. It's not even a good Fruit Ninja clone (which is what I was hoping for). I wanted to like this game. It's just bad though, even at the sale price of .99 cents.
In case you're wondering, if you start game from Steam directly, it will work on Oculus. However, if you start game directly from Steam VR, it will start upside down.
When the game did work, the fruit/candy would come at me very slow, like slow motion. No challenge in cutting them up with candy canes. On top of that, there were hit detection issues. Randomly, I would hit the fruit right down the middle with my candy cane and nothing would register. This happened randomly about 10-20% of the time.
Rating 2/10. Good visuals, nice VR environment, but terrible gameplay, not even a good clone :( I can't recommend this game free or at .99 cents until it is fixed
not bad game
This game is very similar to fruit ninja, but its done candy instead. The game works well and its still very much fun. There is room for improvements to make this game better and different if people would offer some constructive critacism. Nothing wrong with competion, which might make these games better.
Basically a "fruit ninja" type of game in VR. However, it's ultimately ridiculously simple, and has almost no replayability. For the asking price ($9.99), you won't feel like you got your money's worth. If the price dropped to a couple bucks, I'd guess mostly people wouldn't mind playing it for 10 minutes every week or so and padding out their VR library.
