Very good
I never felt like shooting ducks so much in my life
Jokes aside, this game is really fun, it is well polished and the shotgun reloading is so satisfying.
Taking the idea of a classic game like Duck Hunt and revamping the gameplay into what this game is, was genius.
When I was in the living room I truly felt like a kid again(but in the 80s), when I played silly games with silly controllers on the TV screen. When I was in the game/shooting area, even though there is no actual weight to the weapon(course), having to do the movement of reloading made me actually feel like I was loading a gun(never actually loaded a real gun).
Gameplay aside, the story is interesting too, you start in a theatre telling the story of a child receiving Duck Season as a one-day rental from his Mom. To prevent spoilers I will just add that there are multiple endings all revolving a certain dog >:^(
Don't like to repeat but I have to give praise again, taking the idea of a classic game with no apparent lore and making it into Horror, was truly genius.
This game is a must play if you have VR, i certainly recommend it.

10/10 story
Just finished all achievements of the game and I must say what blast, taking a classic's game content such as duck hunt and giving it a twist that makes it fresh and engaging, making you want to engage with every corner to find its secrets. The game play can become repetitive when you are looking into getting all the endings but it wont take you that long and its solid and fun. Its admitedly an old ghme 9 years old now, but it really doesnt feel it besides the people character models everything feels modern and in a style that still looks better to must quest games. I played it in a quest 3 with no problems, besides getting used to the controls as you dont press a button to grab the weapon to clear the bullet chamber, so its not that intuitive in the tutorial, and I see a lot of people just giving up to these control scheme, but if you give it some time you will see you can get used to it, and for me has been a better experience than the usual vr gun shooting. Looking forward to continuing with these games universe with boneworks and the bonelabs, and this is trully a strong start
Duck Season is a really well polished title. The shotgun is very fun to use, the reloading is smooth, you can even look down the crosshair for more accurate shots. Nearly everything in the living room is interactable. The magazines in particular are oddly impressive as you can hold one with both hands and bend it as if you were actually holding a magazine instead of a solid rectangle. I haven't gotten too far into the endings and secrets, but the main gameplay is super fun! They should've just made an entire hunting game!
Only complaints are that when I first started, and still now, the reload mechanic is finnicky. You have to press the trigger to summon a shotgun shell, hold it up to the loading mechanism, and then grab the forearm to reload the chamber. But the game is kinda iffy on whether you're trying to grab the barrel of the gun or wanting to force grab a shell to reload, leading to situations where there are tons of ducks flying by and I'm helpless to shoot any of them because I'm busy fighting the reload mechanic to let me load the shotgun to fire again. Could've easily been fixed by setting a hitbox around the barrel or the magazine loading port so you could tell the game to specifically force grab a shell when within or not within the hitbox.
Additionally, though this is probably just something people deal with in hunting in general, but I constantly find my non-dominant arm incredibly strained and aching from holding the gun in the aiming position for even a few minutes. It becomes a workout just to fire the gun and feels like a chore to play the game after awhile. But the engaging gameplay keeps me fighting my arm to keep going.
Otherwise incredibly title! Rivals even that of Half-life Alyx imo in terms of interactability and fun gun mechanics. Highly recommend!
Can't get past tutorial for "align controllers" and my hand keeps flying off the pump.
You also can't walk around at all so if you're working with a limited space then go fuck yourself, I guess???
I have a MQ3 so if you have one too, don't even bother. You'll get stuck at the tutorial and if you suffer through it, you'll be rewarded with your hand constantly flying away.
Simply a wonderful game!
Duck Season is more than just a game. It brought my father back to his childhood with the Dendy and Duck Hunt, while giving me a whole spectrum of emotions. It’s both nostalgia and an incredible adventure.
The game amazes with its atmosphere and deep story. The universe of Duck Season is a true mystery that captivates from the very beginning. Mr. X, the black clock-cat, the monkey toy, and many other details create the feeling that there’s something much bigger hidden behind the simple gameplay. As you progress through the game, you feel how the pieces of the puzzle come together, leaving room for thought and interpretation.
I couldn’t stop until I completed all the endings and earned every achievement. Each one unveils a new side of the story and leaves even more questions. To uncover the remaining mysteries of this game’s universe, I’ll be diving into another masterpiece from Stress Level Zero called Boneworks.
Rating (from 1 to 10)
Graphics: 9/10
The visual style perfectly captures the 80s atmosphere, with detailed environments and smooth animations.
Story: 10/10
An engaging and multi-layered narrative full of mysteries and unexpected twists. Solving it entirely is a real pleasure.
Atmosphere: 10/10
The game immerses you in a nostalgic mood while creating a sense of mystery and subtle tension.
Gameplay: 8/10
Shooting ducks with the hunting rifle is fun but may feel slightly repetitive over time. However, other mechanics keep the experience fresh and interesting.
A treasure trove of nostalgic vibes. Play this if you were a kid in the 80s and/or 90s.
The shotgun pumping/reloading is physically uncomfortable and janky. Be prepared to switch down to easy mode at some point if you have any bones in your body.
Duck Season review
SPOILERS! In a nutshell, the game is shooting ducks until the big dog comes and tries to kill you. it's really relaxing for those who enjoy just sitting by a picture esque lake and shoots ducks and it's thrilling for those who like horror games as the spooky stuff comes right when you start lowering your gaurd.
The Story
SPOILERS! The story from what I could gather is that your mom in the game rents Duck Season (no corelation to Duck Hunt) after a while you shoot the dog in game and anger the dog, news will play talkign about families that have been disapearing in the area and couple games later the dog seems to have escaped the game, once you come to the final showdown you shoot the dog in the game and then escape to the real world with him and have to have duel with the dog, you win the fight, bury your mom, pack you bags, call the police and then leave and go on the run.
100% completion
100% Completion is really fun and it isn't tedious at all, the most tedious achivement is probobly Home Run or Pro Gamer, Home Run because the physics are a little bit jank and Pro Gamer since it's quite boring but both take less than like 10 minutes to do so it's ok, the game is fun to 100% complete and if you're looking for a game to finish to completion this could defo be one of them

What can I say? I shot some ducks, shot some dogs, my mom isn't moving. Great game honestly.
This is one of those games that I think you should play through at least once. The core gameplay is -incredibly- repetitive and I would have loved some more modes, but it's a nostalgia bomb wrapped in weirdness and overall I thought it was cool.
I'm not sure if your supposed to be able to move with the joystick, but you cant. This is annoying because sometimes you have to reach out in front of you and grab things on the ground. I couldn't get past the tutorial. I was unable to load the shotgun at all and from what I've heard the reloading is very broken. The PC flat-screen version of this game is probably a better idea. Lakatrazz made a mod for bonelab that's supposed to recreate duck season, but it broke during patch 6 and will be re-uploaded after patch 9 for bonelab comes out.
!! SPOILERS !!
Duck Season is one of the best indie horror games I have ever played, and to this day I believe is the most underrated out of the indie horror we have now.
The way it disguises itself is perfect, being a VR version of Duck Hunt, a popular Nintendo title from the 80s. It's fairly faithfully adapted, and to me atleast, never felt too tiresome. I've noticed people in the reviews complaining about how the shooting segments were repetitive but given the game it's taking inspiration off, it shouldn't be too judged. You even have your dog companion dancing about.
Then, maybe out of annoyance or maybe out of sadism, you shoot him. And nothing changes. Right away, at least.
Until it starts coming after you in your own home with a bloodier suit than before, kitchen knife in hand.
The way the horror is hidden is BRILLIANT. And it definitely startled a lot of people their first playthrough.
The soundtrack, too, is so well done, with the minigames' songs specifically really showcasing that retro vibe. The song in the Duck Season game itself is never a tire to listen too, and serves as nice ambiance while you're shootin' ducks. The final boss songs (Meaning of Fear and Dogzilla, specifically), really immerse you into the game, making the urgency feel heightened. The Season, which features vocals similar to Meaning of Fear, showcases the bittersweet nature of the game's Canon Ending, specifically. I really recommend either streaming it on Spotify or buying it. It's great idle music, and I've even begun using them in my video essays.
Did I mention there were minigames aside from Duck Season itself? You can play seven minigames that are NES styled (and one secret non-NES styled one ;)). They're short, but really fun, made me really feel like I was younger.
With the amount of endings, secrets, immersion, minigames and just overall replayability from Duck Season's shooting segment itself (which you can access from the Practice Mode if you don't wanna play through the story again), I don't see why you wouldn't purchase this, imo it's a 20 dollars wellspent. Also inspired me to buy the PC version which, while removing some of the immersion by no longer being in VR, is still such a good playthrough!
Heavy recommend!
Really Good Story But The Gun Is Annoying To Use And The Reloading Is Buggy
Would Be a 10/10 or 9/10 if The Gun is Not Buggy
reminds me of that one looney tunes cartoon.

What a cool game. The tiny details are really great. They do a great job really capturing the nostalgia and fun I remember as a child. Oh yeah, then there is the whole dead mom mystery thing.
a solid game, shot gun needs fixing on the pump action (didn't feel like i had a grip) good depth in lore and tons of stuff to interact with. i highly recommend
Interesting idea. Shit controls
"Hm, what does that gripping button on controller do? Don't know, let's make player grip with messed up aligning his hands with a gun"
great game but for oculus it keeps crashing
Must get for VR
To be honest, I spent 30 minutes goofing off watch the tapes and the other games
The balls of SLZ for adding kazoo kid and Frank Sinatra

"Wow I sure am having a great day! nothing can ever sour this mood!"
That dumbass dog:

I waited 6 years to play this game. IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!
Get this game if you can, First ever VR Horror game that i play and try out over 2 years ago but still watch new reactions to the game, The story is very good with easter eggs and different endings, and scary ofc I recommend this game so much!! (to the quest players, you can still play the game but may have some problems when holding the gun, it wont ruining the game but it just something for you to know!)
игра прикольная но сложная
Duck Season is terrifying, sometimes funny, and fun to play. My only real complaint is that it was difficult to get used to loading the gun
Goated game
this is so FUN
Go in as blind as you can.
it has good replay-ability.
mechanics are solid
