Описание

You've just gotten a new job!

Yes, you're the new apprentice for Death. The Grim Reaper.

It's your job to help gather souls. Only thing is, you can't just go and kill people to get their souls, it has to look natural, like an accident! And you can make this job in a very fun way, using amazing powers to do things like flood places, turn machines on and off, create dangerous chemical reactions and much more. That means for example setting up bottles, knives, brooms, and other regular objects in such a way as to create deadly (as well as amusing) chain reactions.

The Death’s Life features a series of challenging puzzle in different daily situations. To advance in the game you must find and interact with the objects in the scene to solve the puzzle, triggering a sequence of events and causing the "accidental" death of your victims.

Try a day in Death's Life. Dying has never been more fun!

Meh.

Death's Life is a somewhat unusual game with a novel concept. You've got to kill people, but make it look like an accident. To that end, you're presented with a simple low poly/cel-shaded looking scene, and you must arrange various objects in the scene by tapping on them. You then trigger the "workflow" and the objects will bump into each other/fall onto each other etc, and if you get the arrangement right, it will kill your target. It's definitely a viable concept for a game, but you end up figuring out the puzzles in just a couple of minutes through trial and error, leaving the oh-so-edgy dark humour of watching a gruesome cartoon death.

This is one of those games where, if Valve gave us a "maybe" option, I'd choose that. It's overpriced for what you get, and the gameplay becomes a bit shallow almost immediately, so the only real point is to watch how each death happens. There's zero replayability and you can probably finish the game in less than 2 hours (and thus get a refund despite finishing the game, but I don't condone that kind of thing), and that's another problem here. Ultimately I feel this might have done a lot better on the mobile app stores and I was very surprised when I couldn't find it there.

From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

The game features low-polygon "retro" assets with a cel-shading type shader effects instead of doing their job properly and texturing the game assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. This visual style is a method that lazy devs often use when they have a lack of interest/capabilty to create highly detailed, high poly models and instead use shader effects to disguise that shortcoming under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. It's unclear why the developers weren't willing to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets and high resolution textures for the game. It's far below the state of the art visuals gamers expect as a result of their decisions.

The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.

This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all).

Regardless, for all intents and purposes Death's Life might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Death's Life has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for completing the tutorial, trivial to achieve, but less than 4 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.

Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, and isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 4 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother engaging with this game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game.

That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with little merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.

Death's Life is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. If you see it free on app stores some time in the future, maybe try it out there.

I thought DEATH'S LIFE was interesting, it just wasn't all that fun. Yeah, I liked the kinda gory cutscenes once you got the sequence of events right, some of the ways puzzles gave hints on what's next, and the references to some big name characters made me smile, but let's be honest, it was just a clickfest with no real skill involved. Other than that, nothing broke, it wasn't really clunky, and it did what it was suppose to.

Is it worth the $2.99 on Steam? Yeah. I got 2 hours of gameplay out of it. If I wasn't streaming and cutting it up into shorts $1.99 would be better. So if you catch it on sale, I wouldn't blame you if you had it in your shopping cart with a bunch of other stuff, just don't expect much replayability. Maybe something for speed runners?

The game is okay for in between. It took me about 1 hour to get through once. The game has many Easter Eggs from series or other games which I find really cool. The music I found after a short time unfortunately already extremely annoying and have this quickly turned off. I would have liked the "puzzles" would have been a bit more logical, was more a try and error because you can not foresee what will happen. But in itself, the game has already made fun, I would, however, if rather buy in a sale, since it is already a fairly short game.

Great value for the 38 cents I paid for it. People die in lots of funny ways here. You are Death's new assistant, and your mission is to collect new souls. However, you can't kill people directly. You have to kill them indirectly by arranging "accidents". Basically there are several items in the room which can moved to a different position, and you have to puzzle out which items go in which position in order to get the "accident" to happen properly. If you've ever played the board game Mouse Trap then you'll understand the setup.

Something like... A guy is grilling out in the backyard. The wind blows over the open can of lighter fluid on the picnic table, which knocks the sealed bottle of soda off the table and onto the ground. The bottle lands cap-first, and the carbonated pressure blows the cap off the bottle. The bottle cap shoots into the air and hits a flaming hotdog on the grill. The hotdog flies off the grill and lands in the puddle of lighter fluid, igniting it. Flames follow the trail of lighter fluid over to the man and catches him on fire, thus he dies. You've succeeded in your mission. On to the next victim!!

Graphics are cartoonish but decent. Doesn't seem to be any replayability. Nine of the ten achievements can be had just by playing through the game the first time. For the last achievement, you have to play through in one sitting, which can be a problem because for some people the game will glitch out on a mission and will not advance to the next mission, causing you to have to forcefully shut down the game either from Steam or from Task Manager. That, of course, ruins your "one sitting" requirement and makes you start over.

Hard to recommend.

I was going to state that these aren't puzzles, but since some reviewers mention their struggle, I stand corrected.
Your goal is to find a valid combination from a series of objects with 2 possible positions each.
The result, each time, is a Rube-Goldberg machine that ends in someone's gory death.
You can't solve visually, because every event is arbitrary (it's not physics-based,) and the poor graphics aren't up to the task anyway.
It should take you 1 to 2 hours of being methodical to see all possible murders.

That's it.
There's no much to it.
On the other hand, the game does exactly what it advertises.
It does it well, with a clean and complete interface.

I would definitely recommend if free.
So it's more a question of how much I think it's worth.
Not much, but a cheap time-killer that works well, I've got no reason to oppose it.

Shuffle 12-25 items around through 25 scenarios. Some scenarios offer multiple deaths options and others resemble characters from popular movies and shows.

Like others said, it only takes less than 2 hours to play through. no real dialog to read, just click and redo the level as many times as it takes you to combine all items to make a freak accident

Death's Life isn't as bad as it looks, and trust me it looks even uglier in motion than those still pictures.

If you take into consideration price of 0.39£ on sale, and getting out of it solid hour of figuring out how to kill people, that resemble many famous pop culture characters ... I would say it is a ok deal.
I didn't hate it, or had issues with it, besides the fact Death's Life might be the ugliest game I ever played. Weirdly enough I was hooked on its simplistic death trap mechanics, many smarter people could get it done maybe in thirty minutes, but I was able to find enjoyment here, no matter how small it was.

Do I recommend it? No.
There is plenty of better games in similar price range, that can bring speck of enjoyment as well, and also they will probably let you spend more time with them.

I didn't regret my purchase, but certainly I'll never come back for another round.

Poor graphics (Unity) and countless trial & error clicking of objects. 15 minutes of playing is enough for me. It's a great concept, just boring clicking objects to move them to predetermined places/positions. The game is just trial and error, no real thought process. The price isn't bad, but still I do not recommend. If you're looking for a puzzle game w/ gore/morbid theme get Slayaway Camp instead.

Death's Life is a casual/puzzle game undermined by its low production values. You simply click objects and try to create the right chain reactions to see a funny(?) death sequence.

Pros:
+ Some death scenes are funny
+ I somewhat found the music charming

Cons:
- Forced jokes
- Short (it will take you an hour max. to complete) and you need to idle the game for several hours to get cards after completion.
- Bad gfx, ui and animation (it looks uglier and uglier on higher res, this looks like a ported game but as the developer warned me, it is not.)

3/10 A below mediocre game. Gameplay is pure trial and error. Short and doesnt worth its full price. Its a pity on developers part, if they invested more time to develop it, and get some help on gfx/animation part, it could have been a much much better and enjoyable game. Idea was cool. In this state, its more like a free game... If you are still curious try it on sale (-75% min) or get it from a bundle.

P.S.: this review is updated after developer kindly warned me that this game is not a port and intended for pc. A bummer for me to think it should be a port.

This game is super fun, i loved the level design and the style. I'm playing with my girlfriend and we're having a blast. The only thing i think it could be better it's one of the musics. When you click to start the killing sequence the music should be more tense.

I'm taking longer than should be to finish the levels because i don't play a lot of puzzle games, but i'm in love with the game and it's definitely money well spent.

A really great premise!
This game plays out like a Puzzle/Hidden object game, but the end result is you get to murder people in hilariously absurd ways.

Death's Life. I can't really say much about it other than the feel comes from wanting to make a simple indie game for leisure.

The game itself is simply a domino'esque style puzzle game. You have to move objects in various ways to try and achieve an end result of a person's death. The characters used in it are humorous for only a small chuckle to say the least. The ending of the game - no spoilers - is sub par at best. But the overall feel of the game gives off the sense that it should have been an 'addicting games' sponsored game.

All in all, $6.00 compared to playing it for free is a no brainer. It would've been a better move to have it put on AddictingGames.com with how the gameplay is like a snack rather than a full game. It gets your brain to work itself out with a few warm-ups before you tackle a more higher tier puzzle game.

It goes with the ethics of trial and error as its intended mechanics. However, the game is short lived when it clocks under 1.4 hours. A game length of that sort would come off more as a $2.50 or for free.

The game is simple but is really fun and totally worth the price. You can finish it in 2,5 to 3,5 hours.

It has a bit of trial and error but you can deduce things without have to use brute force after a while. I recomend for gamers who like puzzle games but not for the ones that play FPS or games where the graphics are above everything.

If you played old games like The Incredible Machine or enjoy things with Rube Goldberg machines you will love it.

Again, the game has a lot of simple things, but the art is cool and the humor too. The deaths in the end of the levels are really cool.

The gameplay is simple, you move objects between 2-3 set positions in order to create a rube goldberg reaction leading to a funny death animation. Clicking on the objects can often be frustrating as there is a very small area to hover over. You have unlimited attempts so "solving" the puzzles is more just a matter of brute force. Although the gameplay isn't particularly compelling, each puzzle is cute and inventive enough to make it worth the $5 price tag.

Quick Review:
1 hour of gameplay, 2 hour for completionists, biggest win: Great style, biggest loss: failure to advance the gameplay through new mechanics.

Long Review:
Fun title IF you have all the money, way above a value buy.
The game revolves around settings up traps to kill someone.
When you start the game objects have 2 positions to choose between, the added steps give extra gameplay with multiple positions, time delays, power switches, break objects or not, multiple paths, and speed decisions.
What is such a shame is the game does not build upon these skills they appear in levels and then are pretty much forgotten. The final level only uses 2 of these extra features.
The sense of humour in the game is well worked in with the victims having funny deaths, youll even see a breaking bad reference adding extra to the game. But as no story is in the game the chance of laughs is limited but well worked in.
I cannot recommend this game at its length and that the developers forgot that when you give people skills its there job to have the imagination to weaves these into different levels and they just can not do it. If the game does interest you then follow and if about 5-10 more levels come out that offer different play then its worth it for now.... No
