The parasitarias cerebrum cancer, or the Dance Dance Party Hat as it was originally marketed, was the No.1 selling party accessory of 2082 on our world. Attach the hat to one of those white wine spritzer drinking wallflowers and watch as they dance like nobody's watching (and occasionally lose control of their bladder). In 2092, the scientific community had discovered thousands of medical uses for the party hats, or brain crabs as they were now referred. These ranged from a remedy for ADHD for small children to curing erectile dysfunction in the elderly. No one knew where they originally came from but, wow, they made us feel sexy!
Over time the brain crab became our friend, our family, and our go-to guy.
Nobody expected what happened 2096 reports started to emerge that users of the brain crab were unable or unwilling to remove their purple-headed friends. Over the following months, the crabs started to slowly burrow into the host's skulls and this triggered some sort of transformation in the host's DNA - mutating them into grotesque monsters, beasts, and croc wearers. Not even the sweet release of death was enough for these cheeky symbiotic crustaceans to let their hosts go; die and they would have you back up within an hour, chatting about the latest fad diet to hit the crabby world - and we are so tired of dieting. Please help us - kill us, kill us allllll!!!
The dimension ship USS Ulysses' crew has been infected with a deadly inter-dimensional biomechanical parasite.
The ship's crew has activated all of the dimension gates allowing the virus to spread throughout time and space causing anomalies and destruction across the ship.
It's your mission to:
- Destroy the infected crew.
- Close all of the dimensional gates
- Hunt and exterminate any infected in other dimensions
- Destroy the Ulysses before it destroys every dimension!
We know what you're thinking, not another skinless zombie shooter mission, well don't be a Pessimistic Pete. Our scans show lots of species and Dimensions have been infected so before you know it you will be slaughtering aliens, werewolves, cyborgs, dinosaurs, demons, and weird fish men that we don't even have a name for yet...let's call them Jeff...death to all JEFFS!!!! MFING JEFFS KILLED MY WIFE…. JJJJEEEFFFFF!!!!... ETC!!!
We will send you weapon upgrades and care packages as and when we can but it's not Christmas, so don't expect a lot.
We have also fitted you with our patent pending anti-brain crab helmet, it's our only prototype so please give it a polish before returning home. Your helmet will afford you some protection but it's not going to stop them from trying to get to your grey matter. As my mother always used to say, “A clean, crab-free helmet is close to godliness”...... my mother was insane, obviously, but still great advice.

Fun arcade game, but obviously, there are a few things that really need to be addressed.
1. Sound
For some reason, the audio in the game wasn't optimized and balanced very well. Your companion was a cool character, but I couldn't hear her voice unless I turned my volume up, but that made the rest of the game way too loud. Overall, the audio has some issues even during gameplay. Enemies making noises at random, and the music getting muted just to hear a dinosaur growl.
2. Game crashes
This game crashed at random times, but would stall in SteamVR during the loading screens. Meanwhile, the game was still running and waiting for player input on my monitor. This was pretty frustrating because I kept having to restart the game.
3. Annoying final boss
I didn't really know what I was supposed to do in the final boss, but I figured it out, and I was bit annoyed at the lack of instruction. Also, I haven't beaten him yet because when you get close to beating him, he spams A LOT of monsters that you need to hit with headshots to actually survive, because if you run out of ammo before they reach you, the reload time is too slow before three or four of them overwhelm you. You're not allowed to move during boss fights, so this normally wouldn't be an issue, but you have to stand there and manage 30 bullets on about 15 enemies, and even at full health, they can easily kill you if you don't kill them all.
4. REALLY ANNOYING BONUS GAMES
If there's one thing I HATE about arcade shooters, it's a random bonus game that you can't skip. Every 2 missions, you're placed in a survival game that they don't give you an option to skip. So I restarted the game several times just to continue my playthrough. I skipped them for the same reason why the final boss is so difficult: YOU CAN'T MOVE. I hate games where you just have to stand there and eventually get overrun just for some lousy scoreboard. Again, this wouldn't be an issue if it was able to be skipped or opted out of.
Other than these 4 issues, the game is simple, fun, and definitely has a good arcade feel to it. Not too bad for the cheap price, but it does get really annoying at times.
I haven't had VR long... But of all the games I've played, this one is the best so far. The cell shaded style works great for VR and the gameplay is awesome. You can dodge bullets and it's satisfying af.
99 cents? Good grief, just buy it.
This game is mediocre fun. It's not a good game by many standards, but that doesn't mean it isn't stupidly enjoyable. It's a very simple game. You're given the option for either freely roam the stages, or go on-rails for a more streamlined experience. You're given 2 pistols to go toe-to-toe with a hoard of enemies. Each stage has a different premise and, therefore, different enemies. While they ARE just mainly model swaps, they can still offer a different approach. I recommend this game, since it's price tag is so low.
this game brings me back to when I was a kid in an arcade playing house of the dead. Sure the locomotion needs working on, for example, I cannot use the snap rotation. I seem to be put out of the game and back in sometimes while in VR. I think it may just be game lag cause my pc can handle it. Its not a game for everyone, but it is surely a game for me.
Thank you very, very, very much for not letting the fans and myself down by fixing the issue of crashing when you first play the game... This is a great game and is still one of my favorites considering its age in the V.R. world.... Thanks again and cant wait for the next game you release!
At the moment this game is unplayable for many people. There is a bug that causes the game to freeze within the first few minutes of gameplay.
Otherwise it looks like a great game from the 2-3 minutes I have been able to play.
Ai is dumb, i also tried faster mode but they're still dumb, I played in free movement mode and not on rails.
Graphics are a mixed bag, inside parts are ok'ish, but outside parts are bad.
Final showdown bosses, dumb.
The only thing I liked was the music.
Are gamers becoming dumb and really think this is good???
Refunded
I like VR FPS a lot, and when I saw that Dimension Hunter was on offer, I checked out the trailer and dug the idea of the comic book style presentation and the fact that it had free locomotion.
Alas, it quickly became evident that the free locomotion was nothing more than an absolute afterthought, in a game designed to be a narrow "on rails" shooter with forced locomotion.
I played the first hour (more than half the campaign) with free locomotion, but the gameplay is so simple and bland I thought that maybe forced locomotion would push me into situations I would've otherwise backpedalled out of. I reckon for a few moments it DID make it less dull, but it's still just brain dead opponents running from their spawn point towards you, or a fixed spot and stand there until they die or kill you.
You only have akimbo pistols, but you DO get some augmented ammo/abilities like time slowdown (but I wanted the game to end quickly), sticky bomb shots, bouncing shots, penetrating shots. Might sound cool enough, but it all felt weak and lame.
The comic book style visuals also fell apart once in VR - it just comes across as a developers attempt to mask poor assets to be honest.
I really cannot recommend this game with so many other great shooters out there. If you haven't already, pick up Doom 3 BFG on offer and try out the excellent user made VR mod from Samson. 10+ hours of great VR FPS for peanuts.

Was Pleasantly Surprised, This is Awesome!

- Beautiful Graphics!
- Fun Game Play!
- Unique Locomotion!
- Freedom to move Around!
- Price! Note: I Purchased while on Sale!
- Has Replay Value!
Cons:
- I didn't Find Any...oh wait, it takes practice too get far it isn't easy! but, Maybe, that's because I Suck? hehehe...
Overall: This Game is Awesome! Well worth the money spent! Alot of Fun and Very Unique! Thumbs Up!
A fun shooter! I like the soundtrack, the graphical style and the humor of the game.
One piece of advice for newcomers:
Turn off the rail mode. It seems like a cool idea to keep players attention on the action, but the rails put you in some bad spots strategically. There's at least one really bad moment that comes to mind in level one where the player comes to a T junction, walks right out in the middle of 2 small groups of enemies and stops there. Similar situations occur later as well, but not as bad. Even on easy mode I was getting killed pretty quickly when I let the rails move me from room to room. Moving on my own made the game significantly easier and less frustrating.
Once you've done that, it's a neat little shooter. The soundtrack rocks and I like the comic book effects on the action. The feel of the game is like a dark scifi movie. The helper bot is charming and funny too. I look forward to playing through. I may have more to say when I get around to playing more of it. But as far as a first impression is concerned, I give it a thumbs up.
This game is an amazing on rail style game. There are not many games like this for VR that i know of but its definitely needed.
Only played for a very short time so far but this game is fucking awesome, art style is great, gameplay is great and looks stunning in VR. Another must have VR game for those who like shooters with this kind of artstyle or who just like polished VR games that are fucking fun to play.
Although im new to VR (reformed Console peasent) this is Great game! VR FPS reminds me of House of the dead and Time Crisis meets Sin city!. (although i prefer the free locomotion) really worth the price ( I bought with the launch discount )
I completed in a few hours so im really looking forward to the new content!!
This game looked pretty good in the trailer, but after playing it I can’t say I would recommend it for the current price. It’s fun for about an hour, but then you realize that it is the exact same thing over and over again. Every level is get from point A to point B and shoot the same exact enemies. If the enemies have a gun, they stand in place. If they are melee enemies they run at you in a straight line. The guns also have a laser on them so you don’t have to look down the sights at all. You could keep the controller at your hip and still get headshots for days. One thing that really bugged me was the audio. The music was good, but if there was any dialogue the music would fade out almost completely. And noises like guns right next to you or a roaring T-Rex, you would expect a loud noise with deep rumbling bass. Neither of those were present. And when the T-Rex would roar, all other audio would dim way down so all you would hear is this quiet, flat roar. Honestly sounded like the alligator from “Rainforest café” if you’ve ever been there back in the day. So, I would only buy it if it were on sale for $5. It was fun, but not $20 fun.
Really like the design, polish and graphical style. The music's decent enough too.
BUT this is just not fun. I only played it for 40 mins but tried all of the loco options and found them all hard work.
The targetting seems to be off and I just couldn't seem to get a consistent decent hit ratio..unlike Space Pirate Trainer.
I've read a few people saying it's hard and due to this, it's a decent game...but the difficulty for me comes with the loco, the dodgy firing and dull enemies.
I just didn't like this and requested a refund :(
Let me get this straight, THIS GAME SUCKS!!
I didn't want to say this, since this game had so much pontitional. It's an on-rail shooter taking place in a comic book styled world where you can choose it to not be on-rails, and you know, i love on-rail shooter arcades! And the fact that you can play on VR? AMAZING!!! But that's where the good stuff ends. This game was so bad that i totally relized what makes On-rail shooters really great! For one, no mater what controls you pick, you will have a bad experence. If you move manually, it will be tedious, boring, and exploitable since you move way too slow and shooters stand in only one spot, so they never chase you almost like they have the brains of a plank of wood. If you have the game move you on-rail style, you will be exposed to bullcrap waves of enemies causing lots of cheap deaths! The levels themselves are just boring hallways with nothing special about them no mater what theme they have and no set peices that an on-rail shooter should have! Then there is the bad bad hit-deaction for when you shoot at your enemies! There are way too many times where i point my gun right at them, fire, but nothing happens, almost like i have no real control over it's accuracy! That makes it a massive chore to fight some enemies and cannot be afforded during massive waves! Then we have the damage output. It's just as RNG as whatever you hit an enemy or not. Sometimes it does little damage, sometimes it's a complete insta-kill! Even on easy, they still have a chance of doing way too much damage. It's bad when the game rarly gives you health orbs when it feels like it! Even the enemy verity is utter poop. There are only 2 or 3 enemy times:
The shooters
The airborne shooters
and the chargers
And that's it. And no, I'm not counting the countless reskins, since they are the excat same no mater what! Don't even get me started on the lazy bosses! They range from:
Kill boss within hidden time limit
shoot on orbs on portal while fighting infintally spawning enemies then throw stuff at bullet sponge before insta-kill
the non-existent bosses where you fight a huge wave of enemies
I don't know if there is any more types since i ragequit at stage 4 but i know without a doubt that these are some of the worst bosses i had faced! And now the worst problem, checkpoint placement as bad as.... they are just bad. No mater how far you get in a tedious level, you do not get any checkpoints until it's done! Get through a room that is unfair and bogus like for example the large room in stage 2? Too bad! No checkpoints until you're done! Make it too the boss? STILL NO CHECKPOINTS!! So in other terms, you only have one life! This is a major example of artifical difficultity! So yeah, this is the worst VR game i had played so far and eaisly get's into my games that suck category! But still, it's just my opinion, and i respect that if you find the game good.
Definitely one of the must haves in VR, if you have any respect for arcade games you must buy. The music is great, certainly adds a massive amount of intensity and makes you get into it, I felt like a badass not gonna lie. And you can choose between multiple different sound genres, i.e. Alternative, Rock, Epic, etc. For the price it's worth it, I would get it on sale while you have the chance
This game is almost two different games in one. There's the free locomotion (joystick or trackpad) experience and there's the on rails experience. They are obviously, both very different. With free locomotion, you're able to dodge bullets and get in and out of cover really quickly. With the on rails experience, I died very fast. So yeah, I can't say more on the on rails experience :D
Each level is well done. There's not much of a story that I can tell (except in the store description ... lol nice job dev). But you have a robot assistant giving you directions on what to do and when powerups are ready and color commentary at times. You have two almost identical handguns on each arm and each gun usually has a special ability that you can use. You have the gravity gun which can grab some objects and then it can be used as a shield or as a deadly weapon when thrown at your enemies. You also have several other powerups to your other handgun, including a powershot or chainsaw throw, etc. You also have a "bullet time" ability based on a long timer to help you out in tight situations. You can also shoot health targets along the way to regain health, although they can be very rare at times.
At the end of each level, there is a boss fight. The frustrating thing is that each time you die, you will be starting at the very start of each level. That frustration is mitigated in part by the fact that the levels are not very long. And the boss fights usually have a trick to them to beat the boss. Besides different bosses, each level has a different look and feel with different enemies, terrain, and/or gun abilities. And as far as the comic book, sin city inspired, art style, you'll either like or not (I liked it myself, made the game stand out). The guns seemed pretty accurate and on target with me, although since I'm right handed, I found it much easier on my right but you will have to shoot with both hands as accurately as possible.
You can switch the in-game music between Dance, Alternative, Rock, Epic, or 8-bit (arcade). You can also set many options on your controls and turning and movement speed. You can start easy, normal, hard, or nightmare. I played this is on normal and I am finding it quite the challenge, even with free locomotion.
For the current sale price of $11.39, I easily recommend this game. It's a lot of fun to play. This "VR shooter" definitely has a lot more character than most others. So you're getting a good value for your money.
Rating 7/10
TLDR : I was stoked for this, yes the art style is cool, thats it. Didnt get much fun factor other than very bland. Will return if added content comes.
If you liked RecRoom's quests, you gonna like this game. Its like a more polished version of those. Playtime varies. It took me 1.7h to beat the game with locomotion on and normal difficulty. On rails its much harder cause it leaves you to "no cover zones".
