Pretty good minimalist puzzle game.
This is an interestingly different puzzle game. The basic mechanic - lines of light and redirectors - is both simple and, at times, a challenge. As such, yes, it's a good game.
But… Well, it could do with a few improvements to the interface to make it less annoying without detracting from the game-play. A way to trigger all the lines that need to be solved together [edit: turns out there is one - double click or space bar, not that it's documented), and those lines advancing significantly faster than they currently do. (Presently, the proof of solution is so languid as to have put me borderline as to whether I would recommend it.)
Additionally, it has a bug whereby in full screen - at least on my dual-screen setup - the mouse doesn't interact with the game. Getting it out of full screen mode was, in itself, a significant challenge.
On further play, it gets that bit too tedious, dropping it from recommend to not…
I really enjoyed this title and appreciate the thought that went into each individual puzzle. I felt incredibly intelligent for the first few levels and then was shown my place as they became more and more challenging. Great puzzler!
Neat puzzle game based around simple mechanics.
Such a chilled game, would love to carry this about with me, although it does run well on my laptop.
Under its very minimal look lies a very clever game that is hard to put down.
It has a nice difficulty curve and makes you feel great when you finally solve that puzzle that you were stuck on for a while.
It's great.
Very enjoyable puzzle game. Nice balance of challenge, some real headscratchers!
A tidy little puzzle game; suitably challenging, equally frustrating, but then I'm just bad at puzzles.
Operator Overload is a beautiful indie puzzle game by Benn Powell.
Operator Overload has that most desirable quality of puzzle games; after trying every possible combination on a level and thinking it is impossible, you feel a real rush of elation when you finally spot the solution! It's almost like beating a boss on Dark Souls.
The game has 100 levels to keep you solving puzzles all night long. New magnets are introduced at a good pace, to keep the worlds fresh, whilst not overwhelming the player with mechanics. The soundtrack is perfect to chill to and deserves a special mention.
Disclaimer: The creator of this game Benn Powell is my brother-in-law :) I stand by what I wrote above.
A lovely meditative puzzle game of the kind where I'll be stuck on a puzzle for ages then come back to it and know what to do straight away (except for that one level I'm still stuck on just now).
Plenty of puzzles to solve with nice clean presentation and non-linear progression that doesn't force you to solve everything to unlock later worlds.
HELP THE PUZZLES ARE IN MY HEAD.
Things I like:
- Each world (I've gotten up to world 4, has more levels than you need to finish to progress. Some are more complex than others. Means when I'm stumped by a level, I can go try another. Then when I've past that world, I can come back alter to complete more levels to unlock the bonus stages for that world. The game gives me options and I like that.
- Each world adds another operator, which increases the possibility space of the puzzles. Lends the game a nice curve.
[*] Good, chill music.
Honestly this is a very good game!
It's so easy and I breezed through all the levels, nah just kidding. All joking aside the levels are very clever and some I am still trying to work out. The game runs absolutly spot on like it should do and I am yet to come across any sort of bug.
One small (and i mean small) bit of advice I can add however would be to introduce text boxes to help players understand the new elements when they unlock the new worlds. Even though some are self explanatory I feel that this will slightly benefit the game.
OVERALL
This game pleasantly surprised me and I would definitely recommend this game if you want to challenge yourself. 10/10 it's awesome ! keep up the good work dev.
Absolutely in love with this game.
The puzzles are intuitive, but can get insidiously difficult - overall very well designed.
All wrapped up perfectly with an awesome soundtrack.
Great puzzle game with varying difficulty - some levels are nice'n'easy, others are very hard (at least for me), but thus satisfying when you solve them. The motivation keeps being high.
The art style is minimalistic and elegant, and the music a joy to listen to.
What I'd wish for would be some additional work on the UI - for example, it would be cool to be able to select the different magnets via mouse wheel. Also, different colors would help to make the levels more individual.
A big plus is the integrated level editor!
