A breath-taking space exploration experience in Virtual Reality
Compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus CV1 and DK2.
Discovering Space 2 is all about exploration. There’s no action, shooting or explosions, just sightseeing, discovery and relaxation on an epic scale.
Calming, wondrous and adventurous.
- Take control of your ship, or follow a tour, and immerse yourself in a journey through the Solar System.
- Feel the awesomeness and remoteness of deep space.
- Experience the mood and atmosphere of worlds far away from home.
- Explore at your own pace, and learn about what you see.
- Come back with a new sense of amazement of what is out there.
Built from the ground up for VR, you have a small space ship and the entire Solar System to explore.
The end result is an experience that conveys the scale, awe and feeling of planetary exploration, in a fully immersive way. You really feel like you are there, and it is at times breath-taking. You can travel vast distances, view the planets (and their moons) from afar, execute some close fly-bys and plunge through their atmosphere down to the surface. Along the way you can listen to on-board commentary that adjusts its content depending on whether you take your time, or just dive straight in.
Key Features
- Vast expanse of the Solar System to explore.
- Easy to use tour mode.
- Easy to use flight controls and navigation.
- Seamless and continuous travel from deep space down to the planetary surfaces.

The tours are well done.... The complaints on the Planets not showing up on various headsets can be fixed by going here.. This Open Source utility (PseudoVive) can be used for your headset to be identified as a regular Vive to SteamVR applications. It works great on my Valve Index.

Awsomne,my favourite has to be earth, its moon and saturn,i love saturns rings and being close to saturns suface, fills you with awe 5 stars( maybe a slightly higher resolution on quest 2 of the suface of the planets would be nice),beutifull *****,thank you app developers❤️
Spaceships are easy to use and learn which is great too, used with the help of cloud gaming pc ( paperspace) highly recomended, great for education
I am very impressed with this product, not really a game but a space simulator ? very good renditions of the planets. Plenty of choice to alter settings such as graphics, audio, passengers, to make it more personal. To an astronomy enthusiast such as myself I find Discovering Space to be a real treat, actually able to visit and orbit the planets, even land on the moon ! and if you wish ? can be accompanied by music for each planet, turn it on or of ? it gives a you an understanding of the true size of our solar system and distance between planets. I consider this product to be an excellent addition to my Oculus quest, and hope there will be updates to follow.
I truly loved this game so much when it first came out. It was by far one of the best VR games for space exploration, but then one day no planets or stars would render. They were all gone, including even earth! So sad, no updates, just a great game that died too early for no reason.
Disappointing that there are no planets to see. (some kind of bug and apparently there is no fix coming for this). I really liked the sense of presence when sitting in and navigating the ship (this could have been one of my favorites!). Unfortunately, I can only navigate through space and can never see any planets because the bug prevents them from being visible, which renders this completely pointless. Apparently there is a 3rd party fix (see discussion area) that has worked for some but I am not willing to download something from an "untrusted site" for this. I am using the Reverb G2 with Geforce RTX 2070 Super. I don't know the technical reasons for this but apparently some can see the planets when they arrive to their destination but some like myself cannot see them.
No planets or moons are visible on Valve Index. When touring there are several narrators talking over each other. Once you've selected tour mode there appears to be no way to get back to the main menu and select free flight instead.
I had high hopes for this game based on the reviews, unfortunately I had to request a refund as all I can do is sit in a spaceship and look at a starry background.
Quite possibly everything I expected with what was advertised. Amazing graphics and realistic speed. Only complaint is that the controls are a bit messed up on the rift when it comes to pushing the control panel. 8/10
I tried both guided tour and free modes, there was no planet or any other space stuff except the space background and the ship. It doesn't seem as a simple loading error. In guided tour mode, A narrator explains about a planet which seems to be I am orbiting around, but no visual except an empty space. There is something serious bug with this game.
I very much enjoyed this title when I first got it a couple years ago when I first got my HTC Vive. Unfortunately, it seems the dev team have abandoned this title since there are many complaints in this game's forums mentioning that the moons and planets do not appear when in tour mode, I agree, I just got a Samsung Odyssey Plus (Windows Mixed Reality) and I'm having that problem too. In the forums, I haven't seen any comment from the Dev team about possibly fixing this title. This is so unfortunate for a pretty cool title.
DO NOT waste your money on this title, chances are it will not work for you, Vive Pro, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality users are all complaining about this problem.
Great space game which can be slightly scary. Especially when you're flying into the storms of Jupiter. You can actually watch the storms on planets and land on them.
Does not work with the Vive-ProWorked (ok with Vive Original). No Planetary bodies are visible in Tour Mode.
Can't recommend unless fixed.
For me, easily the most underrated VR game to date. This is the most accessable and exciting space-sim I've played. It might not have the depth of Elite: Dangerous, but that's really a good thing because it makes for a much better showcase to others, and you can just relax and float in space in amazing realism. Few VR games continue to give me that Wow! feeling as this game. This is the reason you buy VR. Amazing, A+++. Can't recommend it enough.
Absolutely the best VR experience for Occulus out there at the moment. Cant wait to see DS3.
A totally emersive experience, works fine with Touch, once you get used to it learn how to select the various modes. Ship control is the best I have seen yet....well done, keep it up.
Wow. Just wow. This is one of, if not the best VR experience I've had yet. Being able to easily explore the solar system in what is supposed to be a scale version is absolutly epic. Even better sometimes is to just take the tours and sit back to enjoy the show. I find myself heard racing as you venture towards unknown destinations or burn up passing through an atmosphere. The space gates are not only a great idea, but well implemented as well. The only thing that could make this experience better would be continuous new content. Fingers crossed!
This is the title that will give you the understanding on how vast space is. You literally pilot a space ship around the solar system. You are able to visit many planets, dwarf planets, moons and asteroids. When visiting a celestial body you can enable a narrative that will give you facts and known information about it. I'm a huge fan of space and this is the type of media that will undeniably provide the coming generations with a concrete concept of what our solar system is really like.
Very informative. Astronomically accurate. Proportions and sizes of planets and moons are well maintained. A must have VR experience. A dream come true for amateur astronomers.
Very good orbiting tours of even the moons of the planets. You can stand on top of the spaceship for a real scary lonely tour of the outer space.
I landed on Europa last night and watched a Jupiter-rise. Isn't this the very heart of space travel? This experience rises above the arcade or RPG. The devs fugured out an aspect that is missing from all of the Star Trek games out there. To explore. A true VR experience.
Please expand this experience to other worlds within the realm of science and education.
Well done.
It's superbly implemented software like this that makes the investment in the Vive so worthwhile! Lots of kudos to the developer for producing a remarkable 'tour de force' of our solar system.
The graphics are first class and, combined with the work that has gone into producing the tours, it truly provides an astoundingly immersive and beautiful experience. The addition of procedurally generated planetary topography, some modelled actual features and atmospheric transitions really adds to the experience along with the 'fly it yourself' option! The dialog for the tours is nicely done too and informative. The comet tour was astonishing, thank you so much!
The optimization is good too, I am able to run it at 2.0x super sampled resolution whilst still retaining the full 90fps on my 1080 card. Using a base Steam VR super sampled setting of 2.0x I'm able to up it to 2.2x in the app with a good 80+ fps and amazing detail and clarity, any higher and I run into memory issues. I run with just asynchronous reprojection enabled.
I have experienced some issues with the settings menu where selecting the desired settings can be difficult at times but I'm sure this will be improved given time.
All in all highly recommended to anyone with an interest in space and its virtual exploration.
well done guide to the solar system. The obvious comparison is to the slightly cheaper Titans of Space 2.0 which does a better job of conveying the awesome scale of stars and planets but is pretty much a guided tour. This gives you the option to either go along for the ride or take control.
Pros:
- Good gfx, particularly the internals of the 2 ships you can pilot. Nice touches like being able to see your breath (like in Onward) and the moments when the light of the sun catches your canopy are magic.
- being able to enter the atmosphere of planets. the terrain i checked looked the same but I haven't seem every planet and vids indicate there's variety. The control system is responsive enough to fly through canyons.
- Controls are great. Never used the controller as a virtual joystick like that and after a while didn't miss not having a HOTAS.
Cons:
- Menus look amateurish and are a mix of gaze and pointer selection. The tiny visual that explains the ship controls is just about illegible. This is the sort of thing i'd want to demo to new users so the lack of any sort of tutorial is frustrating.
8.5 / 10 Different enough to Titans to warrant owning both if you love space. Cruise the solar system in your own spaceship for the cost of a cheap lunch.
Wow. This is quite an experience. It's a subject I love anyway but the whole thing has been put together very well indeed.
I'd recommend pulling up a cosy chair and enjoying each of the tours one after the other. It's surprisingly relaxing.
Now that I've finished the tours I'm free-flying through space and visiting the sites again without the guide. I'm trying to figure out how to switch the green overlay off from the planet/satellite surfaces which is interfering with the surface landscapes....
