Описание
UBOAT

As hard, or as easy as you want it to be. Turn down some of the simulation settings and crew management and it becomes easier. Still, chasing down a convoy in a Type IIA isn't easy. Its not supposed to be. Know when to stick at it, know when to run and hide.
I played Aces of the Deep way back in the day and this scratches an itch I haven't scratched for a long time.
As a child, I always thought submarines were cool; spaceships of the seas.
As a child, I played a game by Sierra called "Aces of the Deep" for countless hours.
UBoat is a much more in depth simulation that just hits right as a submarine simulator. It takes place at the !!!funnest!!! point to be in command of a submarine, not the most politically acceptable point in history. If you have issues with the historical realities used to create the narative you might not enjoy this game where you play as a _German U-Boat_ during the _Second World War_.
It scratches that certain itch, and it does an amazing job, better than anything since I was a child.
The Game is a complete waste of time... The newer version is all messed up... I have tried to play it numerous times but fall victim to GLITCHES in the Newer Release of the game... I have tried re-installing the game but to no avail... When transferring to Bergen Norway with my boat, the game will not let me dock and finish the mission... This one was the most frustrating.. So, I dumped the game off my computer... Maybe I can find a suitable SILENT HUNTER game... The older games seem to be more stable... This game has been nothing but frustrating...
Very nice Subs game, it's difficult but you can adjust your realism options.
There are some original missions and mechanics managing your crew that add some nice variations,
I really looking forward to have time to play this game more often.
An entertaining Sim. Pleasing graphics and with a good feel to playing it. Not too difficult. Some variety. Plenty of information and situations. Take care with crew selection scheduling and division of duties. Once you play above 98% real it rivals SH3 with greywolves expansion for immersion. Some ships and planes are relentless so get comfortable and pit your wits against them. Where/if possible when crossing heavily air patrolled routes take advantage of shallower depths in the range the pump can handle in case you take a hit from aircraft.
Great and somewhat unique game if you like submarines. It is either a really good warfare simulation or you can just play it on easy mode and enjoy the aspects of submarine warfare.
Definitely a recommendation for people who like submarines.
with all its minor problems, it is one of the best games you can play.
Very good game. If you like WW2 subs, this is the game for you. It has a bit of a steep learning curve. The tutorials are mostly good. The one on firing torpedoes is a bit lacking, however, this is a sim. If you want to be involved in nearly every aspect of the boat including things like moral and crew stess, this is def the game for you. I would not recommend it if you are looking for an arcade type sub shooter. Lots of work is required to master this one. Luckily, there are plenty of youtube vids to help out. Good luck Skippers! Happy hunting!
Great game, a little bit boring at times but none the less a great game.
So ill start this off by saying yes, this is 100 percent worth your money. it doesnt matter if you have never played a sim game in your life, or if you are a dedicated professional sim player. this game has it all.
This was my first simulation game, and it was very easy to get into, digest, and imediatley have fun in. you can choose to make it as casual and arcadey as you want, or go full on submarine caption sim levels here. the graphics look fantastic, in my experience there arent too many bugs, and its very good for immersion. the only gripe i think i would have to say about it is the gameplay loop can get kind of monotonous at times, but that will improve in the future with more support and updates already confirmed that are coming to the game. all in all, if you are considering it, buy it as soon as possible.
I fondly remember playing silent hunter when I was younger, UBOAT is able to recreate this awesome feel of subsim gameplay. It's also nice that you are able to control every single miniscule ship function, or you can delegate your officers and only do what's interesting for you.
Anybody who's into WWII history should appreciate the level of detail in this game. Honestly the perfect kind of game for the premise of a submarine simulator. Been having tons of fun with this game.
Played a single full campaign and had a lot of fun. Playing with low realism in a more arcade way suited me well although I think it also lead to the patrol loop getting a bit repetitive towards the end of the campaign. Encounter a couple of crash bugs that forced me to load an earlier save (losing 10 minutes or so of play time) so make sure to safe often.
Despite a few flaws an engaging and fun game!
Works and looks great on my PC.
I never was brave enough to dial up the realism to the hardest level, but detecting and intercepting is really an art form in this game. I enjoyed learning the way to manually calculate speed, distance and angle but was very happy a lot of that could be automated as well. The payoff when you finally slam a torpedo into your first target is a really rewarding experience.
Just when you've run enough patrols that things might get stale the game keeps you on your toes with encounters. I'd just finished a perfect patrol in the Atlantic and was unlucky enough to arrive back at port during a bombing raid. Not good.
There is something really satisfying about
setting up and managing a crew, diving into the open sea, search and hunt for targets to shoot torpedoes at,
maneuvering from pursuers.
Played few games before the achievements appeared ingame.
Kept the game installed.
Always had to urge to replay a game.
Unfortunately,
Optimization and Heating issue was a problem.
Afraid my system might catch fire with the skyrocketing heat in congested areas.
Unknown Speech and voices, presumed as German only.
Some might find it difficult to control and navigate, being lost at sea, understanding the factors of working under pressure of your crew as well as in a submarine.
Neutral recommendation but if you enjoy simulating as a captain,
its worthy a try.
good game, easy to learn mechanics, takes a few hours of thorough gameplay to get used to it
The game is perfect but does anyone know why my map is bugged. Like the clear sight thing dosent work please help me.
I want to like this game. It was clearly made with love. But it's unplayably buggy. I can't even get out of the tutorials without it bugging out and soft-locking.
Maybe come back in a year or two once the bugs have been patched out.
tried so hard to enjoy it , it is buggy as if iw was a pre alpha, auto navigation is the worst and the uboat will crash all the time even if you manually plotted a route where no issues should be encountered, got close to a convoy, i coudnt make the officer change objectives, it kept aiming to an already sunken ship. had to flee even if i wasnt spotted but as i couldnt attack it was useless. not recomended at all, sometiems the crew will not rest and then they are tired and keeo like that for days, there is a LOT to be fixed
As a sub sim player as far back as the original Silent Hunter game, this hits the spot in a number of different ways. Sadly there is only one full time dev left to do all the heavy lifting to improve the various potential features it could have and there are very a limited number of ships in the game.
The single dev does a great job so be patient... report the bugs, submit the feature requests... keep an eye open for mods- but like a sub under water on batteries forward motion is slow.
Just got a PC. This was the first game downloaded. I can see myself sinking many many hours into this game. Great missions, fun crew management, and scratches that sim itch.
As someone who loved games like 688(I) Hunter/Killer from the 90s and the Silent Hunter series, this game definitely scratches the itch for a good sub simulator. Immersive, in-depth, and immensely fun. 10/10.
Wonderful sub sim. Makes the silent hunter series look quite old and outdated. Great graphics and mod support! Whats not to like?
I like naval warfare games and this game is no different. i have played other sub based games but this is more in depth, so yeah , i like it
finally a realistic UBOAT sim. Love the immersion it brings to the plater.
i like the complexity of the game. it makes it more real and keeps you thinking of what to do next. its what i have been looking for in this type of game for decades. Yes there are some bugs in the game, but that comes with any fairly new game and i believe there will work them out. The best sub simulation game of the era so far.
This is the true Silent Hunter 4 we never got.
It's extremely accessible, if you're new to the genre you can play in EZ mode and feel good about yourself, or
if you want to scheme past Donitz you can. It's crazy to call this my favorite stealth game but the first time you slink in to an enemy port and torpedo a few of their cargo ships in port and then slink away like a thief in the night you feel invincible.
Even more so when you participate with friendly AI in a convoy raid. Holy shit have I never loved to see the sky glow red at night so much.
This game is immensely fun, you can easily spend hours getting lost in it and doing missions. It scratches so many interests between naval history, WWII, leadership and management, submarines, and more. If you have any vague interest relating to this game, I would say give it a try.
But maybe after a few updates/months. The game has horrible stability issues. It crashes so so much. I've been in situations where I'm wolfpack hunting a standard sized convoy, and it crashes every minute and a half. There are moments where I am simply sailing past a coast, and it crashes. Sailing past a convoy 30 or so KM out? Crash. I don't have a toaster computer, I run latest generation games with graphics high just fine. This game desperately needs optimization. There are weird troubleshooting and solution methods, in fact there is entire forums dedicated to it, but I don't want to spend 2-3 hours going through forums and links just to play this game.
It's a fun game, but just so frustrating when it doesn't work. It sucks to say, but this game isn't worth the effort to fix on the player's side, and it'll need to be fixed on the developer's side. Until then, I'm gonna put it down and play something else.
Bought the game convinced that they improved the bugs that where my main reason not to buy it earlier. Now i realize that not only the bugs are still there but they managed to make the game worse.
What disturbs me most:
- First Person view has become terribly clunky and very limited. Before it was fluid you had a good all around view when you turned your mouse.
- Same goes for the pulled out view.
- The whole Crew Management is just terrible. You should be able to assign men for the different posts, but this doesn`t work. Fx. every time i dive instead of having the Person on Radio doing the Listening Radar they simply leave the post.
- Shooting boats with your deck gun doesn`t seem to work anymore, although i got annoyed before fully testing this out...
Bug i encountered and made me ask for a refund:
- Boat ran out of Fuel.
- Unable to call for a refueling vessel the animation simply shows the boat running endlessly, on the same spot....
Steam refused the refund saying i played over 10 hours, yet i played those hours on a Steam Free Weekend 2 years ago.... Dissapointing at best, deleted it.
good game, fun mechanics. customizable difficulty really makes it as enjoyable as possible
the game strikes a nice balance between simulation and relism and is much better that modern alternatives. there are more accurate simulation games for WW2 submarines like silent hunter but these games are very old and have difficulties running on modern hardware. The price is also pretty good for the quality and quantity of the content
This is an absolutely fantastic game. There are some aspects of it that feel a bit lacking...like the port NPCs. It would be nice to see some cutsceens added when you give your sailors leave where it shows them partying in pubs or taking their R&R instead of a just staring at the port and a loading bar. However, the UI and overall gameplay while at sea is nothing short of addicting. Being able to customize how involved you want to be with the crew and overall ship command is done flawlessly in my opinion. You can play fast paced or nice and slow. You can controll almost every aspect imaginable if you want full emersion. I personally really enjoy taking the game slow. Playing with no more than 12× speed and listening to audio books based on WW2 naval warfare. PT Duetermann has fantastic books based no that subject that is written as historical fiction. Real events with made up characters. Combining this game with that genre of books is an awesome way to put yourself in the shoes of those who served their countries during WW2.
IF YOUR ON THE FENCE ABOUT THIS GAME...BUY. IT.
This game is extremely difficult to learn. The tutorial does not help out a lot neither. I am to send an officer to the Con Tower but he can not get in to position because of another individual, I can not get the man to move because of the tutorial paragraph is in the way. Very...very frustrating. The Uboatpedia does not help much more, just try to figure out how to used the periscope or binoculars.
I have never left a review before but after spending hours on this game I regret the waste of money. I will not be purchasing another game from Deep Water Studios again.
Game is fun would recommend but it has bad stuttering issues. Even in port just trying too look inside my sub the sailor AI rubberbands around and it runs near 1 fps despite telling me its running at 144. 10gb 3070ti, ryzen 5950x, and 64gb of ram, downloaded on an m.2, game still doesn't want too run well. Checks task manager too see 43gb of cached ram, restarts PC checks and its at 2gb, open game same problems right away, and instantly 30gb of cached ram. Still in development so you cant judge it however game really needs optimization.
This game is a fantastic concept however there are serious and sustained stability issues. If you enjoy playing games that don't continuously and unavoidably crash then this is not for you.
I love it, really immersive, able to set the difficulty in so many ways, and being a fan of 'Das Boot' film and series, this game really fits well.
Incredible submarine warfare simulator with the added bonus of being simplistic (if you let your crew do things). Allows you to do nearly everything manually to the point you actually have to move gauges on analog computers and valves to calculate torpedo trajectories with trigonometry. Of course, I'm not at all smart enough to do this, so I let my 1940's German 20 year olds with limited education do these complex calculations for me while I watch the fireworks from my periscope.
A huge amount of mod support too which really is the cherry on top.
Don't bother playing unless you have patience and time to sit and think. (Sorry zoomers)
Very addicting and good looking game, and you can increase how realistic and difficult you want the game to be. I hope the developers keep working on adding new submarines or new enemy vessels.
UBOAT is a great game, however it is still riddled with bugs and weird things that need to be changed within the game - in addition, there needs to be a choice of "Advanced Tutorials", which show you how to do more advanced things, such as Mapping and Interception.
I would reccomend it to other people, but I really do hope the devs fix the bugs.
It is very early in its creation however, it is a very fun game to play. The ability to choose your level of difficulty as well as realism keeps me very interested. The time compression is a must because the game uses real distances so going from Germany to a port in England to destroy ships would take you several days to get to. At the hardest difficulty you have to calculate your own torpedo course using nautical tools and observation equipment. I would Recommend this game to those who enjoy realism more than the basic games that keep the children interested.
Dont know if I'm being too judgemental about this game but honestly I have been playing for 10 hours, and having completed the training sessions have been left to patrol the seas almost unaided. I used to play Silent Hunter in its many iterations so was expecting a quality experience with this new game. Such a disappointment. Its a cross between playing Sims with sailors, but with hyper-realistic settings, and yet the game play feels stilted and the game narrative seems to have been ignored. As an example, my first mission, once out of the training school, was to patrol a section of the North Sea. After having twice travelled up the Kiel canal (for some reason the game didn't recognise that I had already spent 20 minutes navigating it out to the sea) I made my way to the highlighted patrol area. On the way I received a message to find a Uboat that was out of action - using my training, I submerged and used the hydrophones to locate it, which was a miracle really as the manual says that a stationary vessel is almost impossible to locate. Now here's my real issue with this game. I approach the Uboat and instead of a cut scene to my crew discussing what should be done, I just get a message on screen to send some crew aboard to investigate and another written description of the state of the Uboat. I feel the developers really missed an opportunity here - for a few brief moments the story could be told in graphic detail about the state of the sub and its crew. But no, I have to read about it. Is this a video game, or a novel? Where's the excitement? The last straw was trying to torpedo the dead Uboat from 500 metres away facing it at 90 degrees to provide the perfect shot. Guess what, all 6 torpedoes either missed or were duds. Now you may say its because I'm a novice - I grant you I have only just started playing this game, but I have spent hours reading the manual, retracing my steps on the training missions to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I even set up the TDC to calculate and program the torpedoes - both manually as the captain, and through one of the officers, an engineer. So if my crew can't hit a sitting duck from 700 metres out while both vessels are stationary in still waters, they are unlikely to accomplish anything in a battle setting. Previous submariner games I've played managed to provide hours of fun even during the boring runs to and from port, and you felt immersed in the battles. This game however has a clunky feel to it; maybe the interface is over-engineered? It looks great, but there's a repetitive element to it which starts to grate (the engineer telling you for the hundredth time that hes looking after each torpedo, for example) as you travel the seas.
I've decided to try another few hours to see if I should have sent the investigating crew aboard to scuttle the Uboat - and see if I can change the settings so that those annoying repetitive phrases can be switched off. And there must be a 'sandbox' style training area to find out why my torpedoes keep missing? I've checked out some of the guides on Steam, which still give me hope that there is a good game to be had here - fingers crossed I get through this as there are no other sub games out there with this amount of detail. Just wish it was more fun!
I genuinely hate how addicting this game is and good how it is. It's in a "full release" point, but there are still some bugs and kinks that need to be ironed out and it sounds like the dev(s) are committed to supporting the release post early-access.
Once you get the hang of the patrols and the mechanics this game gets close to an almost "Civilization" level of addiction but instead of "Just one more turn..." It's "Just one more patrol" or "Just one more hydroplane sweep." Finding an enemy convoy is one of the most rewarding and terrifying moments of playing and the first time I got destroyed by a convoy, I had a moment where I looked at my sub and saw the entire crew staring at gauges while the hull slowly filled with water. There was a serious sense of dread that came over me knowing that this 100% happened in real life and that feeling of helplessness comes over you. The only difference is I get to hit "load game" and pretend like it never happened.
As for why I said, "I genuinely hate how addicting this game is." I have had to reconcile with the fact that I am playing as WWII-era Germany. Father please forgive me as I send yet another torpedo at Empire class freighter and sneak toward another defenseless tanker chilling in safe harbor.
Has a show-stopper bug, unplayable if you don´t want to restart your campaign.
The idea is good, but it doesn't reach the release version, there are many shortcomings. especially with the crash of saves. I started the campaign 5 times and 5 times I encountered the problem when I can't load the game save, the game crashes. The idea is 10, the implementation is 3. If I knew that there would be such problems, I would have chosen another project. Neither Steam technical support nor the technical support of the game creators could explain, much less solve this problem.
TLDR: It's really fun, actually. Just wait until they fix the damage system to buy it.
A great mix of realism and game that can be tweaked to your liking, plus a crew management and leveling system. Reminiscent of Cold Waters, if you've played that. I have a few problems with it though, most minor but two major ones.
I'll cover my issues with the game from most serious to least.
-AI Detection sucks. I'm talking about your sub's vision. I'll have an officer on periscopes and on the tower's binoculars and they won't be able to spot a ship or plane I can clearly see in daylight. I'll be able to see the flag on a ship's mast and the AI won't have even spotted the smoke trail. I'm not going to sugarcoat this, it's annoying and it needs to be increased. It feels like a chore to scan over all the ships in a convoy which you can clearly see, have the game mark them on the map, only for the crew to lose sight of the clearly visible ship a minute later.
-Ship damage makes no sense. Torpedo mechanics are great even though I suck at them, what I mean is the gun damage. For reference you have a 20mm (I think, could be 22 or 13 or something but I'll call it 20) AA machine gun and an 88mm surface-firing cannon. Both have AP rounds that "Are more effective against hulls" and HE rounds that "Light fires and have a large damage area". I have no FLAKing clue how any of this works. NOTHING is consistent. You'd think that putting AP 88mm shells into the waterline of a ship in separate areas would flood compartments and sink it. Sometimes this works in a few shots, sometimes there are 10 holes in the side of the ship and it's at full health. Sometimes I've taken out the propeller in one shot above it, other times I've directly shot it and around it 5 times and it's still spinning. Expanding existing holes with more shots sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Shooting into holes you've already made sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Sometimes deck-level shots do damage, sometimes waterline shots do damage. Sometimes shooting the bridge does damage, sometimes not. Sometimes shooting a warship's guns does damage, sometimes not. Sometimes the 20mm AP rounds will do as much damage as the 88mm, sometimes you can put a thousand rounds into a ship with no damage. I've tried putting HE rounds in holes made by AP rounds, which sometimes does damage and other times doesn't. I've one-shot a ship to the bridge with an 88mm AP round once the crew had already evacuated. The game never explains how to damage ships with guns other than "shoot them" and I don't see anything online about people losing their minds about this like me so I'm convinced something is broken for me. The devlogs talk about an upcoming "Sinking physics update" which I hope will fix this, but it could just make ships tip up on their ends or split apart more. If someone knows how the damage model works, please tell me for the love of the 350 88mm shells I waste every patrol.
-Ship AI isn't perfect. In ports if I'm spotted I'm never mobbed by ships/planes like I should be. Granted most of my experience is early-war, but I was pretty much directly in a British port surrounded by warships and when one corvette spotted me only 2 opened fire - the rest that were too far to fire simply continued on patrol. I've also had escorts search for me miles behind a convoy (where I WAS spotted) while I am on the surface attacking the ships they left undefended. In addition, the sub will sometimes crash in ports, but I've minimized that by moving at a slow speed. It's not terrible in any case, so this is pretty minor.
-The voice direction is a bit mediocre. A lot of the voice lines are pretty good, especially in combat, but some of the idle chatter feels off and the accents... I'm not sure how to feel about the accents. On one hand, I can very easily pretend I'm not a Nazi, and am just wasting their torpedoes while engaging in the classic pass-time of killing the British. On the other hand, they could have chosen to represent the U.S. submarine fleet, but they didn't. I believe you can change the voices to German, but then you don't know what they're warning you about (warships, planes, merchants, shallow water, etc.) unless you speak German. This is very minor to me, but still annoying.
Overall it's a really strong core limited by a few issues. I'm not sure why these weren't caught in the extensive beta period, but the developers seem aware of them and are still improving the game. I would wait until the sinking physics update to buy the game unless it's on a major discount. I'll probably change or comment on this review if it's better at that point.
This is a great game if you are into strategy and development. Its not a first person shooter game.
I like the idea of starting at easy level then moving on to harder levels. Also the torpedo calculations will be a challenge.
I have 60 hours into this game and predict many more.
Was skeptical when I picked this game up, having grown up on Silent Hunter 2&3. 11 hours in, Im really liking it. You have the ability to adjust the settings to make it as hardcore/sim or gamelike as you like. It also adds in additional interactions that are historically accurate, like being able to board an enemy ship, or pick up survivors after you sink a ship. If you liked the Silent Hunter series, give this one a shot- it builds on that legacy and in some ways improves it.
game play is great. Crew management is a bit clunky but you get the hang of it. Grafix of the ships and sea are good. land based stuff could use a little work.
I got off to a bit of a rough start with this one but once I got a sense of what was important or fell into place and its a good time. A bit slow at times to be sure but when the action comes it is fast and furious !! Recommend to any WWII interested gamers !
A fantastic game with a challenging yet rewarding learning curve! Everything you could want and more from a sub sim.
