There are still no satisfactory explanations as to what they are, how they were built, and who constructed them. A detailed, and spellbinding, story is woven through the very fabric of Barrow Hill, offering possible explanations, further mysteries and a chance to get beneath the surface of archaeology like no other game before it.
Dig deeper: Use real archaeological techniques, and practice, to unearth forgotten artefacts and delve into the Celtic legends which haunt the green lanes of the hill. Cornwall boasts itself as the home of many sorcerers, ancient kings and mythological characters. From the piskie folk of the hedgerows and clifftops to the beasts of Bodmin Moor. I played this game back when I had the CD-ROM in the early 2000s. Still holds up as my favorite October game. Its quick, spooky, and weird but good weird.

An excellent point & click horror detective game for true puzzle fans. I play it every few years when the puzzles fade from memory, and it's enjoyable every time. The game does not hold your hand, and the world - with numerous, diverse, and interconnected locations dripping with atmosphere - can be explored openly, collecting clues to various puzzles along the way. Settle in with pen and paper for taking notes (and a phone for taking photos), and understand that you will wander around aimlessly for some time before things start falling into place. It's perfectly solvable without a guide, but the scope and complexity of the world, and the non-linear nature of gameplay, will often leave you feeling lost as to what to do next.
