This sounded like a really good premise but it is horribly done. This isn't football. It is a city builder that is terrible to be honest and in nearly an hour I never actually fielded a football team. I'll just write what my play experience was like and do my review that way.
So I start building a city. It's easy enough, simplistic in fact, as there aren't many different types of buildings. The only unintuitive thing I saw was that when you build a road with a curve, it doesn't automatically make the curve. It makes 2 unconnected roads and you have to go back over them to connect them. There also appears to be no way to rotate your view, so I had buildings that weren't connected to the road and had to make like double roads to connect them which looked terrible. But I wasn't expecting this part of the game to be Cities: Skylines so it was good enough.
Oh, what's this? I have a tutorial mission!
"Build a villa within 3 minutes!"
A villa costs $250,000.
I have $4,000.
I make $150 profit a day.
Three minutes later on high speed I had around $9,000 or so.
"Oh no! You missed the opportunity to build your villa rei;utgheqroutyh3148906790`8y76t93"
So you make money really slowly, and for some reason you need town approval to be able to build anything football related and that is based on a percentage. They can turn you down and every time you ask for approval, it costs you $1000. It took me 4 tries to get approval. And then I built a club management building for 10k so I was totally broke.
Oh, look. Another tutorial mission!
"Build a training ground so that talent will show up in your town."
A training ground costs $8,000 and I wasn't going to wait around to earn that, so I wandered off for a while and left the game on idle. After eating dinner I come back and see that 3 of my apartment complexes had burned down. They weren't even next to each other! And I had 2 firehouses covering an area that was one street wide and probably would have been half a mile long IRL. Were they cooking meth? I mean only 12 townspeople of 200 were employed so maybe that was a giveaway that they were up to something.
Anyway, I got my $8000 so the apartment buildings had served their purpose and I built a field. A few minutes went by and no-one showed up. Then another fire broke out that spread to 2 more of my apartment buildings and that was it, I was done. The football experience cannot possibly be good enough for me to deal with that.
You want to write something good about a game and say, well, I can see X player liking this and if you like this type of game you should give it a try. But this was absurd, I just can't recommend this at all.
There should be a actual easy mode where half the bloody city doesn't burn down or maybe some cheat codes because i just want a casual experience and even with it on easy mode it feels impossible and frustrating always going negative balance and negative earnings and no progress in football because everyone leaves due to unpreventable fires and bad training conditions which I cant fix because I dont have the grant because nobody wants to live in a city with the taxes so high because its the only way i can stay afloat so to summarize its just too complicated and it feels like an endless loop of suffering and please add in cheat codes
The game is good, I like the concept of the game. It has good balancing. Also, the game is very fun by it being a tycoon-type game.
This game is shit. The fundings are terrible and even on easy, you never have enough money to properly start the game. People don't move in, you don't get higher chances of a successful fund, you don't get approved for the funding, you don't progress. Also every single time I get a decent group of kids to play football, my whole fucking city burns down and the firemen stand around with their thumbs up their ass. Don't waste your money on this game.
Discovered this little indie pearl some time ago and I love it!
Could not believe it's made by only one guy! Wow!
The graphics are very cute! As being addictive to create graphics by myself I was able to see that some buildings were drawn with lower and some with better skills. But they look really pretty overall.
The game itself is very addictive. It's a challange getting kids with gold skills and keep them in your club so they will play in your first team. That might take a while but it's totally doable.
I've also read some negative review but most of them could be solved by reading the tutorial/quest system.
I totally recommend this game if you are in love with classical games like Sim City and if your are a football lover!
Nice and fun little game. Had some relaxing hours with the game - totally worth the money.
This is a very nice city builder with basic SimCity like functions and feel to it. Yet there's the twist that all you do is to have the best football team.
I find the isometric view and simple models quite comfortable and enjoyable. Didn't encounter any bugs and had a good time.
I'd say this is for everyone looking to spend some enjoyable retro city building time without spending half your life. Well worth the money.
Really basic and poor, dont waste your time. Game complete in 1 evening.
I hate to say it Christian but i can send you my save file. I have won the top league and built everything so you tell me what else there is to do in this BASIC AND POOR game?
The game lacks any depth, shows no league table to the football or anything to do with the team except for the kit and the standard on player.
The city building makes no sense, traffic randomly stops and you have to delete streets to get it to work again. Pitches deteriorate far to quickly and fires burn down buildings next to the fire stations. Logic of the game needs working on in general. A good idea but lacking in so many areas.
EDIT: So the below "review" reflected my experience at first. After the review the developer responded, quickly fixed the issue and I could play on. The issue is fixed for me and it just show a responsive and dedicated developer. If you like a fun mix of city builder and football, I would buy this title!
I hope the developer will continue to develop the title and add some content here and there, some more footy stats could also be fun, not that it should try to rival football manager in that area though! :)
Original post:
Okay, so I am about two hours into this game. I like it, but there is one thing that is bugging me, no pun intended. The traffic jam bug I like to call it. There is one road leading into the city, I have intersections here and there and a pretty typical grid layout. But what happens, the cars just stay there, not moving.
I wouldn't mind if it was just a graphic thing with no implications for my game, but it does have a rather large implication for my game. NO new inhabitants are moving to my city!!
I was stuck at 1,354 population for 20 minutes. Then I deleted the road where the cars were "stuck". Guess what, they started driving. But I had to place the road back or otherwise my city was cut off from the world. After that I had to remove the first intersection, it instead became a turn. Now half an hour later the cars stil stop permanently, though now at other intersections. How am I supposed to have a city without intersections?! I hope the developer sees this and fixes the issue.
Good Game, Still Plenty of work to be done it seems and wish progress was quicker but fun for a while
highly recommended! it was a joy as a brainteaser for like 3-4 days of play. after you conclude how things set up and how it works with upgrades its pretty straight forward. nice game for its kind!
Great start to the potential for this game. It was a fun angle having the football team being the center of city management. Game rewards do not seem to be fully worked out - but you can see the potential. Had fun playing, and look forward to seeing its development.
No population increase, money runs out, stuck. That is the game, load of cr@p. Literally, frustrating beyond belief and a complete waste of any sum of money, no matter how small.
Nice game but supper bugged. You either run out of money, all cars get stuck in traffic jam or all buildings burn down. There seems to be no logic behind it to solve those issues and therefore you cannot proceed in the game.
The game is very good however the map size is small and there is a lack of a housing buildings in the game. There needs to be more content in the game. The game also needs modding and steam support including workshop support.
I love the novel idea of building a city to build a football club, but it's essentially bad at both elements. As a citybuilder it falls short as it's all about overlapping areas of effect, and the constant bother of having to upgrade buildings and rebuild the burned buildings is just not fun. And speaking of burning buildings, my city can be covered by 2 fire stations and I basically have one building on fire at all times - these people need to learn fire safety more than they need soccer!
Soccer mechanics are odd, as they seem essentially to be about talents rising through the ranks of your team. In my game, everyone suddenly just stopped playing. Maybe I didn't have enough fields for juniors, maybe I needed to micro-change it so all 3 fields supported the same level of play, but in the end it seemed incredibly strange to me that I was promoted in my soccer division despite having only one player in my first team.
There's something in this game that could be great, but it has quite a distance to go before it gets there.
A great concept. Looks easy but it not so easy and that makes the game interesting I wish I could give the game a thumbs up I really do however, the crashing is very frustrating. So for the moment it is a thumbs down. The developer is working hard so I will come back to this game (should I live long enough) and hopefully give it a thumbs up

Review:
Surprisingly polished for a just-released early access game! Definitely one to watch if the premise sounds cool to you.
Overall the game has good visuals, a generally comforting atmosphere, and mostly intuitive game controls. I couldn't figure out how to rotate the view, which may not be implemented yet, resulting in some buildings being hidden (my fault entirely if I simply couldn't find it). You also have the ability to upgrade buildings and customize them a little which adds a sense of progression. You can also design your team's jersey. All of these things are great and I'd love to see them expanded upon for further customization.
As someone who doesn't follow soccer/football very much, I did find some of the goals confusing and can imagine a more expanded tutorial to be helpful, but in the end I was still able to muddle my way through with relative ease. One of the objectives that isn't particularly clear is how to guide your city to encourage more talent, though I think the answer there is you simply need to grow your city in a thriving way and talented youth will emerge to join your team due to people's optimal living conditions. I find that passive growth clever, I just wished I'd understood ahead of time.
At the moment, I think I was able to accomplish everything the game currently has to offer in about 5 hours, but I also ran into a money glitch that gave me a lot more money a lot faster, but the ending was the same: you create the best team on the planet while you also craft your city. I imagine more is still being added and I'm looking forward to checking it out.
Again, definitely one to watch if the premise sounds cool to you. Feel free to dive in early with the gameplay available or at the very least I'd say watch as it develops and maybe take the plunge later.
My opinion
The game is really good and the price is absolutely fair for what you get.
I'm not a football fan myself, but I enjoy it a lot. More than I thought.
The game is still in early access, it also has a few bugs, but not many and no bad bugs that affect the gameplay.
It is worth every cent and I would recommend it to anyone who likes games like Sim City. Football fans will get their money's worth but also people who have nothing to do with football will have a lot of fun.
The game was developed by a single person over several years in his spare time. If you buy the game it will help the developer a lot to develop it further.
Positiv
- It's a lot of fun.
- The graphic is very nice.
- It's fun for a long time and you stay motivated.
- Almost no bugs.
- Nice music.
Negative
- Doesn't have a real tutorial.
[*] The range of some buildings is too short.

Early Access Review – Deutsch/English (below)
Road to your City is not only the name of this new release but also the agenda of the game experience, because without a freeway access nothing will run. As recently elected major of the city which name lays in our hands we want to create a place for a football club which has the potential to become the champion of the first league. For that we hoist up resedential buildings, build supermarkets, cinemas and so on for the daily needs and set up the first football fields for our club. But be careful: If the satisfaction level of our people is sinking too low the plebs will burn down their own homes and you can forget to think about quality youth players for the club. Only if we simultaneously take care of our budget and the quality of our football players we can managed to get a prosperous city and a sucessful football club.
RtyC is a sweet little city building game with strengthened focus onto the football sport and therefore have niche role at the market. For an early access status the game is really stable and the only two bugs which came across my gaming experience are fixed two days after release. Do not forget that RtyC was programmed by one person as free time project and 5 years after coming to its readiness for marketing. In return about 10 hours of play fun are waiting to lead your club to the title.
Everybody searching for a game which can be started in the afternoon ending a stressful day for relaxing the nerves to have fun will be happy with RtyC. Everybody searching for a complex city simulation will be quite the opposite.
A clear pro/con-list will not be the most valid option for an early access title in this stadium, but following things should be mentioned:
- The developer is responsive to every idea, every thought and is very close to his community.
- The game is harder than the first look maybe showed. If you don't on guard you ruin the club or the budget of your city.
- At the moment both features (city, club) are standing a bit too much for themselves. Sometimes you are so busy with the city that you forget the club and one season passes without noticing. The identification with the club needs some work.
Conclusion: Nice game with a lot of potential. For the actual price a must-have due to the fact of good looking graphics, the cool soundtrack, the already implemented content and the stable version. More content will be connected mostly with its success. ;)
This is a very good startup game the only problems are there's a glitch with sirens always going of and way to many fires happen. and mabey make a few radius's larger cause too many stations being made. Also would be helpful to be able to move buildings if missclicked or get refund when demolished.
