Some of these are okay. Some are rubbish. Some won't even launch. It's a case of you get what you pay for.
I was torn between "yes" and "no" for recommending, but decided to think positive today. Only buy it on sale, and don't expect too much.
Mild fun. However, several games will stall if objects are not discovered in a particular order. Not interesting enough to play again to stuck point.
Wait for a Sale
I had quite a bit of fun with the ones that I did enjoy and could easily recommend this. There are a few stinkers in the pack, but at least half of them were pretty good and enjoyable and I could easily recommend this to somebody who enjoys HOGs and/or puzzles. There's nothing here that reinvents the wheel and most of them are pretty dated, but it's still an enjoyable time nonetheless.
My biggest issue is that two games broke and I would've had to redo an hour or more on each to get my progress back. Also, one or two of them were just boring, too dragged out, or had too many blurry background items to where the fun was gone quick. Not each of the games in this pack are straight bangers, but there are some really enjoyable stories throughout.
The biggest issue that somebody may have with this pack is the repetitiveness. Most of these titles are nearly the same with different coats of paint on them. You'll be doing match-3s, get "x" object out of blockade, and click "X" to get points over and over again throughout all of them. However, the varying stories and hidden object scenes make each one feel different enough to where it didn't bother me.
The weakest ones were Bonnie & Clyde and FBI Paranormal 2.
A nice if unremarkable bundle of hidden object games. None of them are either particularly good or particularly bad. There are times when you know what needs to be done, but you can't figure out the EXACT pixel you need to activate an object over, which can spoil your fun for the afternoon.
They're cheap and it's a good value package, just don't expect anything amazing.
Story lines not great, repetitive hidden object screens, poor graphics make some impossible to find without using a hint but most frustrating of all is the mini games. lots of sliding puzzles that are impossible to complete as they don't work properly even though i could see the solution the pieces wouldn't move or would only move one way then get stuck again then work again. have to wait 5 mins to skip the mini games too. not worth it.
I did complete all twelve games. I gave it time to try and pick up, but some of the games are downright mysoginistic (Frankenstein: The Disembodied Bride) and some were out of the way complicated (Bonnie and Clyde). There were a few good laughs here and there, but overall the styles of the games didn't do it for me and the graphics were a bit outdated and hard to view.
This game is either written by someone for whom English isn't a first language, or who is illiterate. Puzzles with no idea of what is required, items mis-named (a nut is not a bolt, a piton is not a pistol), tiny pictures with limited zoom.
This is a puzzle for someone who is either a masochist or really, really bored.
I'm on the third game and the same issue has caused me to abandon each, well before completion. I'm not new to Hidden Object games with story lines. But these are outright glitches. In the community chat I see the same thing happened to others. I'm required to complete an action (light a fuse on a cannon), but no matter how many times nor in what position I hold the matches to the fuse, nothing happens. The matches fly back into inventory. The only "Help" is "Use the cannon to get out of the cave." Hey, thanks for THAT.
In another, I'm required to assemble pieces of a torn up newspaper. I love these kinds of puzzles and they're not uncommon in these games. I finished the puzzle and moved on the first time. (I had started over with a new account to see if I could get past the cannon in the cave glitch.) The second time I got to this puzzle, It was completed except for one piece. That piece was NOT on the screen. I moved the "completed" puzzle completely out of view and there was nothing. I unplugged and plugged back in. (No, really.) Nope. Now I'm on a third game, with the kind of puzzle I'm not good at and usually skip. I'm not finding a "skip" function. When I clicked on "Help," the "Help" said to do the thing I needed to do to move on. NO SH*T!. My problem is I need HELP doing that!
Yeah these were ch3ap and now I know why. I tried for a refund but missed the two-day (or two hour?) refund period. No big deal. But seriously, don't waste your time or funds.
I love these sorts of games, but I was very disappointed by this one. Overall it was too dark and small for me to see clearly. Even when I zoomed in it was very tiny. But the overall darkness made it difficult and not enjoyable to play. Maybe the one I choose was supposed to have a dark theme, but there should be a way to brighten it a bit for people. Also having it where things can be zoomed in even more for people who are nearsighted would be helpful.
As I have played a lot of these games in the past, I haven't had these sorts of issues before. I was disappointed. I could see other people liking this game, and my experience is my own. I do think it was a good value for the money as you get a lot of games at a reasonable rate.
The stories associated with these hidden object games may be a bit corny, but I still found the game play to be quite enjoyable. If I recall correctly it didn't take more than a few hours to complete any of these at a leisurely pace, and I happily filled several evenings playing them.
I've only played one of the games so far, but that one was about three hours of game time, so it seems likely that total will be a healthy chuck.
It was a nice mix of hidden object puzzles and other kinds of puzzle. The game wasn't perfect however.
The hidden object games only let you 'find' the three or four objects listed, meaning you will often find objects you know will be needed, but you can't collect then yet. There were also times when the objects just looked like the background and the clue function was needed for me to spot them.
That said, it did have a nice zoom function, and some puzzles use a parrallax (sp?) view, so you can move the from part around to see the back better.
These maps do not play well with the zoom however, as you can turn off the shift to move the zoom around, but for no good reason it keeps turning itself back on.
The puzzles were a fun collection, and some required a bit if though. A few were odd, and a bit of luck was required to figure out exactly what the game wanted. Some were slider-puzzles, and the controls were wonky, which was frustrating at time.
I found it humorous that an FBI agent was travelling around the world, more of a CIA thing, but no biggie. It was also funny that the game used the British 'torch' for flashlight, then late in the game it uses flashlight to mean torches, which I don't think is a British thing.
All in all however it was a fun game, easy to give a thumbs up too. I got it on a great sale, under a buck! If you see it on sale and like HOG, I would say grab it.
ADDENDUM: I am working my way thru the fifth game, and I do have to say the quality here is mixed. I also have run into a few puzzles where the controls don't work, and a few where it doesn't really tell you what to do. Still a thumbs up, because you can skip over them, but it isn't as fun as it could be.
HEADS UP! Half of the games in this bundle won't run on many systems (I'm running windows 7) just read reviews. Very disappointed in Steam for not supporting or helping with this issue. They don't answer any disputes in the discussion threads. There must be a solution, but they are not answering any of the complaints or questions. Even if on sale, it is theft on some level.I wish they would fix or change the computer requirements to address what's needed to make these games run! Update: After trying on different operating systems (compatibility doesn't work) I got the games to work with Windows 10 only... using a different computer.
Several of the games don't work; they either don't launch, they crash and erase all of my saved progress, and some objects that are necessary to move to the next stage have game-breaking bugs that don't allow me to interact with them.
first I should mention that I ended up getting this on the latest steam sale for around .65 cents so it's hard to not like something that was so cheap.
So far I've played all the way through two of the games and I found both of them to be fun and the story that they wove around the hidden object and other puzzles was at least entertaining, I actually found myself reading a lot of the story instead of just skipping it to get to the next puzzle like I did when I first started playing them. So given how much I've enjoyed the Asylum and the Frankenstein castle ones I'd recommend this bundle, it's a fun little diversion when you've got some free time and want to play a quick game that you can quit at any time.
I for sure did not expect that kind of amazing story telling in a Hidden Object game but this bundle definitely delivered! Everything from conspiracy theories to brutal murder to Rocky Horror Picture Show variations.
I had great fun playing them all.
They are rather "simple" at times and they are not as polished as others are but whoever coded and designed them enjoyed their work greatly and that helps looking past the few short comings.
Got this 12-game bundle for $5.00 and figured I'd get at least some entertainment out of them.
Yes, they are dated, old-school, and don't recognize today's ginormous monitors. The graphics quality is low. If you have a wide-screen monitor, prepare yourself to either accept stretched graphics or be very annoyed. I tried to get my monitor to use a more square mode but it cuts off part of the game instead and creates visual bugs on the main page. Really annoying that I can't fix this.
Otherwise I've really enjoyed myself. I'll put reviews for each title if I have the time.
FBI : Paranormal Case: the first game I played through and it's what you'd expect for an old HOG. But what I didn't expect was the neat mini games as you go along. I'm used to really dumb games but most of these were quite clever and lots of fun. Totally worth the price of the entire bundle, in my opinion! After you finish the game, you have the option of playing these fun games over again if you like.
The one problem I found was incorrect translation of some of the object names, so be prepared...and be gentle, it's old and sensitive! :D
Deadly Association: This one was very macabre with dead bodies to examine and a tone I didn't really like. Talking about rape like it's just another crime rubbed me the wrong way. More of the same sort of fun puzzles, though these were simpler and not quite as fun. Still very enjoyable.
As with the the first game I played, the graphics quality is low and HOG items are sometimes mislabeled.
Hidden Files: Echoes of JFK:
This game has serious crash bugs. If you tab out of the game, it crashes. Eventually it broke and now, where I'm supposed to get a phone call, it doesn't ring so I can't play any more of it. I would also say this game seems to be the oldest of the three I've played. The moving mouths to go with the text is really bad...heh...in any event, be warned: CRASH CENTRAL!
Some of them are good, some of them stink. If you like hidden type games get it on sale. Will update as I go. 1st game, Dept of Justice was pretty good. 2nd game, JFK was interesting with nice graphics. Be sure to click on files located in various places when you see them. Those are where the true history is in all of the games. The icons change based on the game. 3rd game I did not play; it is a sex crime. my choice. 4th game,Petrodollars, badly stinks. 5th game, The Statue of Liberty, was so far the most challenging & longest game. Had an interesting story about Tesla. Be sure to click on the statue head icon's located around various places for historical background on the statue. # 6, Medford Asylum has a good solid Paranormal story line with a twist. You will find historical data on asylums all over the world by clicking around while you explore. I will say the puzzles are HARD with no help. Looking up door codes is useless as they change for each game. #7 is Haunted House Mysteries. I actually liked the storyline & the puzzles weren't too bad. Be sure to look for "an eye" symbol to get paranormal history stories from around the world. # 8 is Secret Case: Paranormal files. I will be honest, I quit. I can't stand a search & find that goes 3-2-1 go with a fast timer! No thank you. Plenty of hidden item games out there without dealing with having to hunt in a hurry & try to get a quick score at the same time! # 9 is Dr Jekyl & Mr Hyde. The story is short & predictable. The puzzles easy. The biggest flaw is be sure your pc is upgraded with video & windows before clicking on this game or it will crash your pc all the way back to restart! # 10 is setup like #9. I really didn't care for either one. Most of these games up to 9 had real information in each area about the different scenario stories; so I was disappointed when I encountered these 2 which were non-historical storylines based on the names of historical figures. I found 10 hard to find items within the background & the way the reporter kept getting arrested made the game boring but that's just my opinion. #11...
I love HOGs, and I play a lot of them, so I bought this pack when I was running low on new adventures in this genre and wanted some more. Each of the games in this collection takes about an hour and a half, although they range in quality. Some of the games have far better interface than others and there are certainly some 'duds' in the writing department.
If you find this pack on-sale and love HOGs, it can certainly be worth the money. Most of games aren't as interesting as many of the other HOGs around Steam, but for the most part they were rather enjoyable.
Major technical issues with the text display render these games unplayable for me. Might be different on other systems (I'm running XP SP3 32-bit, and XP is listed in the system requirements on the store page), but I have no clues on what's causing the issue. Trying to search for a fix elsewhere online just led me to various other forum threads of the developers ignoring customers' requests for technical support.
Overview
These are mostly older style HOG games that usually sport outdated graphics where you'll be straining your eyes to spot a certain object. I'm not exactly a fan of HOGs that only allow you look for 1-4 items at a time, but the price is hard to beat at $.5/game. No replayability so far except for that annoying competitive one.
No option to skip text. FBI 2 crashed once. Not a fan of the faint white symbols everywhere determining what you can do when you can just barely see them - would've gone w/ something more visible such as a white interior & black/red outline. FBI 2 fixes this problem with the green-square symbols, but it's too visible/blocky now, so it gets in the way of surveying the area not that you do anymore in FBI 2 since it's just HOS/Puzzle one after the other. The extra info system should've been made more visible for more casual players that don't want to spend time trawling through pixel by pixel in order to find them.
It seems like these may have been in a different language/translated wrong. There are a bunch of objects not being called correctly, or directly named causing confusion. If you're going to include sequels in the pack then why aren't they lined up properly? FBI 1 w/ FBI 2.

Only ~7 locations with each one revisited twice.
One of their newer games with improved graphics, but it's worst one on this list. They try to add a competitive edge to a NON-COMPETITIVE gaming genre by timing/scoring you also once you reach the limit they make you restart, or continue through. Absolutely disrespectful of players given that no option to remove such stupidity was added. The enforced mouse speed is back with this game - not cool. Game crashed weirdly with one profile but the next did not. I don't know why you play HOGs, but it certainly isn't for a competitive edge...I play FPS for that.
#9 - Jekyl & Hyde - 50 minutes long
Simple, but there are alot of find x10-20 scenes.
#10 - Jack The Ripper - 1 Hr long
Pretty simple game throughout except for those annoying jail-sending questions, find differences in letters puzzles, and 1 very hard to find paper.
#11 - Bonnie & Clyde - 2 Hrs long
There are a bunch of objects in this one where even if you strain your eyes you won't be able to see them. Annoying Map Puzzle that doesn't make much sense eventually figured out by trial & error.
#12 - Frankenstein - 1.5 Hrs long
Frankenstein has mutilated[& quite possibly had intercourse w/] your girlfriend, but you can put her back together assembling the machine Frankenstein has created.
Quirky little story that's interesting, but too short to matter much. You revisit each scene[about 15 rooms] atleast 2-3 times. I did enjoy how emotions were conveyed and how a you could somehow communicate with a brain. Would've been more interesting if the GF turned out to be Frankenstein as a small twist.
very nice hidden object bundle. the games do have mini puzzles in them, but if you can't figure them out you are able to skip them after about 3 minutes which is a good. I enjoy not having to wait for your energy to refill or having to spend money to use hints. I have really enjoyed playing these hidden object games. I have only had to skip 2 puzzples.
