What if Bastion but worse
I love this game very much!
Its story about sadness and hope,
About nightmare and happiness,
About death and life...
Happy end is guaranteed!
Special thanks for very atmosphere graphical and level design, quite animation, good story and interesting journey that keep alive at lease one man at the end. The meaning of the game is revealed only towards the end of the game, but that was the idea!
I'll try Figment 2 too.
Highly recommend this work of art!
An absolutely wonderful heartwarming story that goes on within a person's mind. It's a creative approach to the things happening in our heads, interesting definitions of nightmares and thoughts. The thing I loved most is the identity reveal in the very last stage of the story. (No worries, I won't tell you who that is)
I played it on keyboard, but perhaps a controller would be a more suitable choice.
This one kept me afraid till the very end. Did he lost his wife or daughter? Does he have ANYTHING to wake up to?
So, no spoilers :)
Play it. It's good.
nice
Very fun to play with my daughter!
I think that there was enough love put into this game to where I'd want to recommend it. It's probably going to be overshadowed by other games, especially if you've played Supergiant's stuff. There is absolutely some janky elements to this game, and the gameplay and combat don't feel fantastic. Most of thee puzzles were good, some felt time consuming and annoying. But the art direction is so cool, and what they did with the music is really cool too. I really liked the world building and all the tiny details. I do not think this game is for everyone, but I'm glad I played it. The gameplay will put some people off though.
good
Not even done with the game, but I wanted to get a review out there asap. This is a somehow amazing game. In the intro, it sure doesn't feel like it. But you get hooked real quick. You wonder 'why pencils?' and discover you can knock on every door and 9/10 times get a unique voice line back. The corny jokes, the gruff-but-secretly-a-sweetheart character being forced to cohabit with the airhead-carefree character, the dreamlike environments -- none of it is new, per se, but it is all executed so well that it's honestly a shock that I got so invested. This game is a mix of styles and influences. It feels like the devs took the premise from Inside Out, the musical inspiration from Cuphead, the globes from Cocoon, and the aesthetics from My Friendly Neighborhood. It's juuuuust on the edge of being completely unhinged. Great stuff.
But the main reason why I love the game so much is the voice actors, the BANGER soundtracks, and the fun accents. Seriously. The voice actors sound like they had the time of their lives doing these characters.
The game is not complex, or very long. The game play is intuitive, and easy to pick up. And, I enjoyed the story. Absolutely worth the cost... when it's on sale or in a bundle. 7/10
5 hrs in and I’m so in love with it, its so much fun! Characters and overall concept is brilliant (and quite deep), the music is everything and the aesthetic is really serving James and the giant peach meets Coraline… some of the “remembranes” are lowkey sad af it’s like being in Dazzelem’s childhood mind I could cry… anyway love the game and I didn’t get this for free I’m a genuine fan and I do recommend.
Very short gameplay, when I was locked in it took me like maybe 4-5 hours total. Lovely story and morale. The songs were also very catchy! Despite what others may say there was a perfect amount of dialogue and the puzzles were not too hard and some made you really think. A great game to sit and relax with that has a little bit of action.
Too tedious, did not care for all the narration. Why can't you skip it, or at least fast forward through all the dialogue. It got very boring to me, but maybe you'll like it.
This game actually surprised me a lot. Figment delivers a beautiful tale (and I won't spoil it here) under its lighthearted and surrealist art style. My only complaint is the length, which I find the a bit too long.
★★★½ out of 5
Figment is a simple yet fun 8-12 hour puzzle adventure game that deals with the psychological and emotional aspects of life.
The characters look weird yet interesting and creative at the same time, which I quite liked. It has an interesting musical aspect as well especially with platform and puzzle solving.
It's a good game. Very whimsical, and nice puzzles.
I don't want to get into spoilers, but man, I felt that ending could've hit so much harder. It seemed to me like the devs could've had a different idea for it during development that they backed out on for something tamer. Could've had some nice symbolism and foreshadowing for Dusty looking like a children's toy and Piper, the innocent voice of hope that urges him on through his journey, could've represented the impact of certain people on his life and the reason to stay strong for them in a very different way.
good game! reccomended only on sale tho. great music too!
Yes
Decent game, took my time. Some puzzles, nothing too tough if you think logically. I like the art style, the caustic main character, and the music was pretty well done. Logic puzzle games like this are quite helpful for the kids to build those problem solving skills.
Only problem was the last achievement, Blademaster. It won't take when I hit three at the same time, even though I have dozens of times now. I read somewhere that if you hit four creatures at the same time, the achievement will proc on Steam, but after a couple of tries, I've given up the quest.
Everything was just so beautiful and the songs are just so catchy too!!
Love the music, although I will say the achievement for defeating all the spiders is a little glitchy.
"Figment" it game , which takes players on a surreal journey through the mind full of emotions, memories and fears. Released in 2017, the game is distinguished by its artistic style, interesting puzzles and an exciting story that appeals to players on a deeper, psychological level. This is a title that impresses not only with its visual side, but also with its narrative and music, which plays a key role in creating a unique atmosphere.
Really good games play with your kidz especialy with a ADHD
TLDR: Like Bastion meets Pixar’s Inside Out. It’s a fun and short game with good puzzles but a rather shallow experience. Its simplicity is its greatest strength and weakness.
PROS:
✅Well-written dialog
✅Picture book artstyle
✅Boss songs
CONS:
➖A bit slow
➖Backtracking
➖Shallow gameplay
Content (Game world/Narrative/Length) – [5/10]
Game World: Figment is an overhead sidescroller similar to Bastion. In fact, I’d be shocked if Bastion wasn’t a direct inspiration for Figment. As you play through Figment, you traverse narrow pathways and solve puzzles to progress. The world is modeled after parts of the human mind, so you’ll visit areas that relate to sound and hearing, and time coordination for example. Many of the collectables are memories of the person’s mind you are in. Generally Figment feels like a cross between Bastion and the Pixar movie Inside Out.
Overall, I felt the game world was adequate. Nothing really impressed me, but I felt that it fit within the game that Figment is. I feel it could have been a bit more creative - perhaps more references to mental functionality baked in. It would have been really cool if the levels were more impaired by psychological concepts for example.
Narrative: Figment starts out with what sounds like a family conversing in a car then immediately a car crash. The scene then shifts to Dusty, whom you control throughout the game. Dusty seems to be related to courage and is less than excited to be accompanied by his companion, Piper. The two then go on an adventure to stop the nightmare that stole Dusty’s memory book.
Plot spoilers:
As the game comes to a close, Dusty helps the mind heal and the father wakes up.
Overall, I felt the narrative was fine. I am not sure whom the target audience is though because as juvenile and whimsical as the plot can be, Dusty swears a lot and especially at the beginning doesn’t care about anything else but himself. Throughout the journey, the player gets to see Dusty grow and the actions he takes to do the right thing. It’s not really grand and relatively simple, but it's still a good message.
Length: I finished the game in a little over 4 hours.
Gameplay (Mechanics/Difficulty) – [6/10]
Mechanics: Figment’s mechanics constantly shift between combat and puzzle solving. I would say it’s about 70/30 in favor of puzzles.
Combat is simple, there’s a dodge role, a melee attack, and a charged melee with a circle AoE. Even the boss fights are very puzzle-oriented. You never engage directly with a boss, but rather must take them down through puzzles in the environment.
The puzzles are fairly creative and I rather enjoy how the puzzles relate to the game world insofar as the theme of the human psyche. You’ll often be collecting batteries, wheels, and platforms to be able to proceed forward with the levels. Aside from collection there’s things like moving blocks to shield you from waves of depression, and lighting up squares in a specific order to open pathways.
Overall, the mechanics are fairly simple, but nevertheless, creative and fit with the theme.
Difficulty: I did not find Figment very difficult. There doesn’t seem to be any death penalty other than just retrying again. I didn’t even die until towards the end. Combat is rather easy, but the damage you can take from the puzzles far outweighs the combat.
Graphics (Quality/Performance) – [5/10]
Quality: I found the graphics to be okay. It’s kind of PS3-era fidelity with a more crisp resolution. The main draw (pun intended) of the graphics is the hand-drawn art style. Since the game is from a far-away vantage point, a la Bastion, you never really get close enough to notice if the graphics are of lower quality.
Performance: No issues from the tech side, I played flawlessly at 60FPS. I opted to use my Xbox controller over KBM due to the type of game it is with no aiming.

Audio (Sound Effects/Music) – [6/10]
Sound Effects: Okay sound effects. There are noticeable sounds that occur for all expected ingame events - puzzles, combat, and movement. Voice acting is also present, and it is good.
Music: The music is probably one of the only things I would say that stands out in Figment in a good way. While none of the tracks are particularly memorable, each boss does have their own song that they sing which really adds to that “Nightmare Before Christmas” type of vibe where villains sing.
Replay Factor (Longevity) – [2/10]
Not great. The only reason to replay is achievements, but the game will be the exact same.
Final Verdict – [5/10]
Figment is a fun and short game, but it only scratches the surface of what could be possible. The combat is shallow, there are no RPG elements to entice progression, and the biggest collectable item, memories, are not exciting to bother with.
But yet, Figment does have a solid foundation of a more psychological-oriented Bastion or Psychonauts that I would like to see developed to a deeper level. Perhaps the sequel builds upon this.
Recommend? [Y/N]
Yes, but only on sale.
For $20, I would not recommend this, but I picked it up for a couple dollars.

If there was a "Meh" score, I would have picked that.
The game is... entertaining enough, the thing is that it´s also tedious and boring at times. I think this game desperately needs a "fast travel" option, I wanted to revisit other places but thinking of going at the slow pace the main character goes, and thinking I had to cross over ALL the place to go back to the first one and returning... yeah I was not going to do that.
Controls are ok, but bumpy. Concepts are really nice but some executions were just not there.
It´s a good game to kill time, but if you get bored easily (like me) give it a second thought and only play it if it really catches your attention.
A fun little puzzle game with a short but well thought out story.
boring and the gameplay is absolute كلبshit, I would have bared with it but half an hour is enough
a bit clunky, but i quite enjoy it
7.5/10
What a wonderful game full of 'unsophisticated violence' , deep thoughts, clever rhythmic gameplay and interactions, hilarious voice lines and an overall hilarious and deep/thoughtful script throughout the entire game!

The music and song lyrics are incredibly catchy and full of melody, and hilarious too.
I bought the soundtrack right away because its 100% worth supporting and listening to when ur in a weird mood, because thats what these songs are, funky punky weird but also so full of good tunes and omg that theme song is stuck in ur head afterwards, its so good!
You can tell this game is made by a group of talented music and art lovers! Its just so well made in everything from the instrument implementation in the art style, the melody and tunes u interact with both deliberatly and in the bkground, like hitting the trumpets with ur sword gives off different nodes that all fit in with the current music playing on that area!

Lots of small details and funny lines, did I mention it has a funny script? Ill mention it again because it was funny as hell sometimes, most of the time, all of the time.
'Why is 1/5 so stressed? Because he's two tenths!' hahahahahahaha omg I lol'd so hard from some of these houses inhabitants and their lines.

Og den der danske gibberish linje som kun en dansker ville ku genkende hvad han sagde, var simpelthen prikken over i'et xD (Danish reference, the game is made by a danish team)
The story as u progress is deep and the whole way the mind/ur left and right brain center was turned into the map and designs was so clever!
The only negative to mention is that ur character runs a bit slow and u end up dodge rolling all of thee time to move faster. And its a bit clunky movement/combat style but only a little, but this is not the focus of the game and it works just fine in this game compared to others that are far worse. There are also a few puzzles where u move those boxes that have u go a little 'argh bk and forth and bk again, and then up then down then bk again'.
But all in all its very minimal to mention and the point of the game is not hard combat or insanely complicated puzzles, its a story and visual journey with a fun script.
The games music, lyrics, scripts, art style and story far outweighs the rest.
Without the above mentioned, especially the constant temptation to dodge roll for more speed, it would definitly have gotten an 8/10.
'My minds reward system released a bunch of endorphines' after playing this game.
My mind can highly recommend it!

The art style is whimsical and I enjoyed the story progression. It doesn't take a huge time commitment to play to the end of the game, but there's plenty of puzzles and objectives to work toward so it feels rewarding. The voice acting and the soundtrack is PHENOMENAL.
The thing I struggled with the most was when I was trying to navigate the "waves of despair." The orientation of the waves were always diagonal and it was tricky to get a sense of where I needed to move and how to get past the obstacle. It was frustrating at first, but I was able to work through it without wanting to give up on the game. Looking forward to playing Figment 2!
Beautiful action game felt like a picture book with full voice casting.
Only drawback is main character walking speed is some slow
if there is some running movement it will be perfect.
Fun game combing puzzle solving with combat. I didn't know anything about the game when I started playing it and was pleasantly surprised by the story. It all takes place in the mind; similar to the movie Inside Out.
Soundtrack is awesome.
My top 3 best songs:
1) Song From Figment
2) Spider Queen's Song
3) The Fear of Loss, Pt 1
An incredible journey into the recesses of one's mind, great accompanying songs, fantastic gameplay... 100% in my book!
Although the gameplay was not very impressive. But the music is good.
