Spot-On Gameplay
Sure there's fire, ice, and super-bouncy-ball power-ups, but at it's core PyroSlam is a rock-solid Table Tennis simulator. You'll forget you're in VR... until the ball spontaneously combusts. Topspin, Backspin, Sidespin, Knucklespin... you get the picture. It's all there and you'll need to master it to climb the leaderboards.
Power-Up & Level-Up
Screw-Balls, InvisiBalls, Bouncy-Balls, Mini-Paddles, and Super-Bumpers are just a few of the wacky ways to out-play your opponent. Nothing beats watching your friend whiff a perfectly executed Freeze-Ball. Earn XP by winning matches and landing trick shots to level up and unlock new paddles, power-ups, avatars, and arenas.
Global Matchmaking
Challenge your friends directly or climb the ranked matchmaking ladder. Whether you're crafty and consistent or a slam happy wildcard, all that matters is you bring home the win.
Fun with Fire
Slam the ball hard enough and it'll burst into flames. Land one of these pyro-shots for extra XP and bonuses.

I wouldn't bother unless they come back to it with some updates.
Very solid physics, feels like real ping-pong,
Right now there is a very solid game that works and feels as expected, bots feel good and challenging.
You can unlock some custom paddles by getting EXP from individual matches with a few different contenders at 4 difficulty levels and online matches...
Powerups are entertaining and work well, a tutorial how to use them would be nice (you can use them before serving)
A few more environments or enemies, or a tournament/career more would make this even better And It does need a way to pass time when waiting for an online match.
Recommended for anyone wanting a solid table tennis experience.
This could be one of the top VR games in my library. Only thing that I would love to add this game would be an ajustable table height.
Warry funny
The table is just to darn low to play this game. There is no option for table height....so..... yeah.
It might be a good game if you are less than 4 feet tall...... I am 6'1 tho.
This was the most intense game of ping pong in my life
i bot this game on sale and its worth the money or atleast for me it was worth the money there is just one thing there are barely any people online or it was just me cause i first first loaded this game up at 1:00 am and thats all bye
I cant even play this game im just stuck in the loading screen.
Game is fun, though lags in online play against friends from the same region.
Solid 1 second delay from when opponent hits ball to when you see the ball coming at you.
Otherwise, offline play is much more bearable though bots are insanely good past normal difficulty.
It's a high quality game. It's ok for early access. Needs more work though. The physics are good very similar to Eleven.
It's been a while since I played Elven so I just tested them back to back. As far as realistic table tennis games go I would rather play this.
This game is more polished. Especially the menus. Feels like a professionally made game where Eleven still feels a bit amateur.
This game is faster to get into and start playing. No convoluted menus to wade through. It's just very clean.
The downside here is definitely the environments. They need way more detail. Some of the environments, even though they look clean almost seem lazy like an afterthought.
On the plus side, the power-ups are cool and adds variety would be nice if you could turn them off though.
Needs more unlockables. Maybe even more powers as unlock able. As it stands it's pretty bare bones but it's good for quickly playing a few rounds of table tennis with good physics.
EDIT May 30th, 2023: I'm updating my review to a maybe, or only if it's discounted. The devs have gone quiet for the past 3 months, and although there's a good foundation here, it's not a complete game yet. If it has been abandoned, I can't recommend it. I'll be back in another 3 months to update my review again if that's the case.
I've only played for about a half hour, but since I've played pretty much every VR ping pong game in existence, I think I'm qualified to form an opinion already.
My first impression of this game is that the physics are really good. I'll have to really give the game a test drive for a bit longer to be certain, but it already feels as good as or better than Eleven Table Tennis. It's not quite as polished visually as Eleven, with most of the levels and opponents being a bit bland, but for an Early Access game that's totally acceptable.
Here are a few things I'd like to see in the future. Some may already exist that I just haven't come across yet.
- Bouncier balls and paddles. I've found in almost every table tennis game it feels like you're playing with dollar store paddles and balls. I play with a pretty bouncy paddle in real life and it always seems like I need to use more force in VR games to get the ball over the net. I also only play with 3 star balls in real life, which have a lot more bounce to them, and VR balls always feel very cheap and almost dead. Making these things customizable or having the option to unlock better gear that's not just cosmetic would be awesome.
- When I start any VR game, I'm not always situated exactly where I need to be in the game. This is pretty important for a game like this, so being able to reset the camera or change the height of the table is crucial. I can do it outside of the game by taking the headset off, but that's a bit of a pain.
- Turning off powerups. There's a solid base for a table tennis game here, and it would be great to just play it without the extras as well. I do like the addition of the powerups, I just think I'd probably want to spend more time just playing a great table tennis game, which this already is.
There were a few minor issues that I'd love to see get fixed as well. I'm playing in WMR, and the controls weren't fully configured by default. I had to manually set the grab ball and pause buttons in the SteamVR settings before I could play.
I also noticed that quite often my AI opponent would defy physics and return a ball to me that it clearly missed by a lot. This isn't gamebreaking or anything, just a little immersion breaking. Maybe it's just that the animations are behind where the difficulty should be, and I'm having balls returned that the AI character can't get to in time.
All in all, a very solid start here, and the right price for an Early Access game, which too many developers get wrong. Can't wait to see how this one develops in the future.
I have been looking for a vr table tennis game for a while now on steam. I know that may sounds very specific, well it was. My problem with the games available was either their price or reviews given. As a big fan of the developers game shell shock I also caught wind of this game. So, I was of course bias into buying it.
However, I can honestly say, for what its worth, its a very cool and simple game. We have an intuitive user interface that is easy to navigate around in, amazing general feeling when actually playing against a friend or the AI and of course the AI to play against. What is of worth noting with this AI is its wide range of different play styles and general difficulty levels the game provides to the player. This, even when playing alone, adds great variation to the overall experience.
Personally, I love playing this game with a friend, slamming the ball on the other side of the table and having a blast. The only thing I really hope for in future updates is a wider variety in the power-ups. Those that are implemented are great, either changing the play area with additional surfaces to shoot against, giving the one who hit the power-up an advantage for a short time or impacting both players (for example changing the ball size).
Overall - very recommended! Looking forward to see you in the lobby ;)
This game is a hidden gem under all smaller VR titles that are out there. It mixes table tennis with power-ups so perfectly well, it's (shell)shocking. I believe there would be many more people playing this game if they knew it existed. Sadly, reaching the VR playerbase is neither cheap nor easy.
Overall, being in an early access state this game lacks a bit in polishing/content but being aware of the developer's dedication, I am assured there is much more to come - and I can't wait for it!
The online feature needs a bot to entertain you while you are waiting in a queue.
Power ups add a nice touch, the game feels very good when working properly but server/desync issues get in the way of what this game has to offer, I got it on sale and the game is a blast with friends but there are way too many instances when the servers will just not register hits or player movements. I think this game has potential especially for the price tag and would improve vastly with better server performance.
Expect to play prime LeBron James if he was a table tennis player when going against the bots
Perhaps this game is more enjoyable playing online with friends. However, I can't recommend it as a single player experience as it stands right now. It's early access and there is very little content, so it's appropriately priced. There are no graphic settings at all and there are also some strange effects that cannot be disabled such as a smoke trail behind the ping pong balls, balls exploding, and circular bubbles that appear above the table that often shrink the ball into the size of a marble. Physics in this game can also be sort of janky with some shots going too far off the table and others dropping too close. You are also restricted when serving to a narrow space and the game will not allow you to serve outside this space. In my opinion, Racket Fury VR is far superior in every way and remains the best table tennis VR experience. I'll just stick with that game.
Table tennis, with power-ups!
PyroSlam: VR Table Tennis is a VR table tennis game at its core. The physics are very solid and the overall feel is smooth, natural and polished overall. In addition the power-ups obtainable during the match bring a fresh twist to the flow of the game, whether it be putting side or ceiling panels around the table, or applying different modifiers to the ball, such as changing its size, or making it freeze for a short time after each hit.
As of currently in its very early early state there is singleplayer with 5 different environments, each with 4 bot difficulties (easy, normal, hard and insane), and multiplayer with customizable lobby settings. The bot in the single-player performs pretty well. With my own (relatively low) table tennis skills I have only been able to beat normal difficulty so far, with hard and up giving me a tough time. I have not been able to get around playing multiplayer as of yet, but I imagine that with having the power ups it will provide a lot of fun moments to be had.
In terms of customization there are unlockable skins for both the paddle and the ball. Fairly basic, but is nice nonetheless. Settings include your typical volume settings, and in addition some other settings such as changing the distance from the paddle from your controller, which can be handy for those wanting to fine-tune it to their liking.
Overall, a very solid base of a game with good polish in visuals and gameplay. In terms of content there is not that much as of yet, but I would imagine this will change as early access progresses and some of the modes listed in the plan get implemented. If you are a fan of table tennis, I recommend giving this one a shot!
