- Hang out in an Antarctic wonderland, complete with the Aurora Australis and a spaceship or two.
- Bop and spin 40 different frozen levels! Maybe wear mittens?
- Catch snowflakes! Really! But not in your mouth.
- Collect eggs! Penguins love eggs. They also love fish, but those are harder to hold with a Vive controller.
- Check out whales and dive underwater (Note: We are not responsible for thawing out your Vive headset).

The game is abandoned and crashes on launch. Do not Buy.
Like this. Fun and not too taxing. Probably great for kids too.
It's difficult to leave a 'not recommended' on what is a harmless, inexpensive (sale price), mostly entertaining, movie-length, sit-down VR game. However, a few rough levels, the tacky mobile game interface, and poor Oculus compatibility keep the game away from any serious recommendation.
Waddle Home doesn't really benefit from being in VR and choosing to develop for on a mobile platform would have seemed appropriate and more accessible. (There is actually a phone AR version that seems interesting)
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Very tough call here. I would like to give a neutral recommendation. Honestly, I just didn't like the puzzles. I finished 13 and sort of don't have it in me to keep going. I didn't find the puzzles difficult, just annoying. Especially in the later puzzles where they put enemy guards that you have to avoid.
The best way to describe these puzzles is that it's a maze you have the penguins navigate by changing the paths to get to the desired destination. Your penguins always turn right and the guards always turn left. You have switches to direct the path of the penguins. If you move the switch, a barricade erects and the penguin turns right earlier or gets over an obstacle, or whatever the case may be. So by doing this you can capture eggs or get to the exit. Your goal is to collect all 3 eggs and find the exit.
The animations are cute. The controls are intuitive. VR does add something to this as you can easily see the whole map to guide your penguin so the puzzles become 3 dimensional. Puzzles did get increasingly more difficult with each level. It just wasn't for me. It's not a bad game per se.
Sale price rating 5/10. I think the normal price is way too high for what it is. At the Steam summer sale, it may be worth it, if you really like these types of puzzles. The low sale price is the only reason I'm keeping this as positive, but it's really neutral.
It’s a puzzle platformer where you guide penguins to safety, avoiding aliens and robots. You know, normal day-to-day type stuff. It’s casual, it’s cute, and I like it enough to give it a solid thumbs: UP! Good for kids too!
This is surprisingly one of the best VR games currently on the market. It appropriately uses room scale, and does not have/need locomotion movement systems. The interactability of the penguins and their "boops" and "bops" makes for a truely immersive VR experience. There is no greater puzzle game currently for VR that has the gameplay, graphics, and mechanics of Waddle Home.
Guide the adorable penguins to the end of the puzzle. Adorable atmosphere and quite challenging at times. It's good clean fun.
This is a great little puzzle game! I added it to my library with the intention of just having another vanilla title for guests not interested in fighting robots or swinging swords to play. I was pleasantly surprised to find a combination of good puzzles and intuitive controls that got me hooked as well. This is a great title for kids, but still lots of fun for adults too.
Very fun puzzle game that gets increasingly challenging as you advance through the levels. This game is a perfect fit for VR as you have to look around at different angles to see everything, I can't imagine playing it without VR. Only complaint is that it's a little short, I beat all levels and collected all eggs in 2 hours. But it is one of the most polished games for VR right now and for $10 I think its worth it if you like puzzle games.
Your goal is to release cute penguins onto a level, who passively move through it: they only walk forward (you don't control them), and only turn right when they bonk on something. You look down on the entire level as though you were a kid standing over a playset (think one of those Thomas the Train tables). Because of this, the game feels smaller and involves no movement around your room. If you can only play standing up, this is the perfect VR game for you. Anyway, the penguins need to pick up eggs and then exit. To guide them, you can raise or lower blocks, thereby altering the penguins' paths. There are enemies along the way who can remove your penguins. That's it! Highly polished game, clean design, good fun. For an entry-level VR user who is looking to do something besides the tech demos and partial experences that lack progression, this fits the bill nicely. It not a visual feast, but it's charm factor is AAA.
Cute puzzle game. Doesn't really show off the Vive all that much, but worth picking up if you like Lemmings-ish puzzle games.
Has Penguins. Need I really say more here?
Fun puzzle game, cute graphics, has penguins. Worth the money.
Did I mention this game has penguins? Yeah? Well it's awesome.
Waddle Home is a fun puzzle game in the genre of ChuChuRocket (Dreamcast).
Release a penguin from it's cage and it will walk forward untill it hits an obstacle, then turns right and walks forward again. Get the penguin to the spaceship! Collect the eggs along the way. Sounds simple but the levels become more and more complex.
It's a great family game or if you want to cool down from actiongames. Looks good, sounds good, runs great, good price.
Specs: i7 6700k, 16GB RAM, R9 390.
Review updated after ending the game (around 2hrs for 40 levels). Very polished esperience, with very nice music too. Being a puzzle game, the overall level of difficulty is not very high (depending on your skills too) but it's not as easy as Water Bears that don't offer any challenge for 95% of levels (and the remaining 5% is extremely difficult!). The game is good if you've the space, so you can walk around your level, but can be played also with a small chaperone.
Suggested if you love puzzles, or simply want a polished vr game with a real start and a real ending.
Pretty cool game. I haven't played a puzzle game like this before so it was nice to play something fresh. I haven't gotten very far but I was happy to see in the trailer that it looks like the puzzles get much more complex. Good stuff.

This game is awesome! You can tell it was made for the Vive. Easily one of the prettiest games I have right now. The gameplay is a lot of fun, and there seems to be a good number of levels. It feels very polished, not buggy at all unlike a lot of other VR games out right now. I got this game for 30% off ($7), definitely worth the price! Even seems like a bargain for $10. Check it out!
If you are a fan of puzzle games you owe it to yourself to pick this up. Intuitive controls and a polished experience makes this game a must have.
Waddle home is is a a very cute game that does nothing to hide it's mobile app influences. From the start screen, to the puzzle level mechanics and simple interactions, this, at heart, screams app store.
I'm not sure that the casual game mechanic is a perfect one for the immersive experience of VR, as opposed to idling away a train trip, but I cannot deny, it was fun.
Standing in the freezing arctic water was a nice touch, but I really wanted to resize the island a bit, it looked a little small for my liking.
I am giving it the thumbs up as it is well made, cute, complete, well thought out and deserves to be seen.
My kids are eager to give it a go and I'm sure they'll love it - but just be aware, this is not a game that utilises VR to its full, it's a casual puzzler that could quite as easily been on my phone.
definitely a family friendly game. very sytlized art, and challenging puzzles. I like it!
Sort of like Monument Valley, but in VR and with penguins. Puzzles get increasingly complex and need to be viewed from different angles to complete each level fully. Clever enough for adults but also all ages friendly. 10/10 would bop penguins repeatedly over the head again
