Haunting. No matter how long you've been playing it, it still gives you that unnerving feeling. I had a few bugs that made me restart a couple of chapters from scratch but, given how good it is, I don't mind at all.
What crap. Absolute crap.
It wasnt scary, it wasnt fun, it was filled with frustration and just nonsense.
I came back after many years to try it again and what a disaster. The whole premise is to walk around as a little girl who has the stamina of an olympic runner unless ghost are around, and then she is a morbidly obesse smoker. The entire game is trying to uncover the mystery of your dog and sister being gone. Its cute, its different but its just walking around getting killed by everything.
I hated the experience so much. Definitely not a great time. Finished the 100% though!

The game keeps crashing. I can walk round for a bit after the tutorial ends, but the game won't let me pass the first monster jump scare. I've tried all the threads and guides to help with the game and it doesn't help. I don't know if its my computer or something else.
Very disappointed because this game looks good.

this was my first solo-player horror game which definitely drove up the horror factor for me, the death screen never failed to make me jump
the puzzles were pretty fun and it had a decent story, but i was mainly here to be scared
i'm sure it'll be an enjoyable game to play, especially for the completionist gamers
Overall the gaming experience was good and I've had a quite some fun. There's a bit awkward difficulty spike towards the end, mostly involving slightly to big hitboxes and lack of appropriate space to maneuver, but it's within an acceptable margin.
The story is simple, but interesting enough.
It probably stems from the fact that they've kept in mind that our protagonist is indeed just a little girl.
She's scared, but not in the manner an adult would be. She wonders about the spirits, at times getting spooked and surprised, but she doesn't really feel the horror. She lacks the adult viewpoint and just doesn't want to be alone and lonely.
While I've had no issues myself it's certainly sad to see the amount of people which issues running the game.
But please don't get discouraged. The actual game itself is certainly worth of the "Mostly Positive" rating.

Also, fullscreen with a desktop resolution above 1920x1080 is horrid, please turn it off and use "Scaling - Stretch" which is the devs unique way of saying "borderless window/fullscreen mode". I'm not sure what would happen on older 4:3 or Ultra-wide monitors though.
A bit too many things have been left unexplained for my taste. Mind you, I'm not talking about the story. I'm fine with that. I'm talking about sub-events and mechanics. I would've liked a couple more of helpful remarks from the girl herself and more useful hints in the easier to find note/message type collectibles.
The most notable problem is that the statue quick save just functions as a re-spawn point and doesn't truly save progress unlike the save at home.
The other major thing that bothered me is the way the map only ever gets truly completed by performing a certain, late-game action, which makes thing awkward. Before that there's various spots on the map that unavoidably will make you worry about whether or not you've missed something, even though you've been through in your exploration efforts.
Talking about exploration. Most collectibles are reasonable easy to find as long as you thoroughly search the town and interact with the various spirits. However, after you've spent a couple of hours you might notice that there're are, probably three, items which really shouldn't make you feel too bad about taking a look at:

They're items based on sub-events with low chances. Getting them involves repeated actions aka farming. And it doesn't help that the game does NEVER straightforwardly tell you that you need to go home to properly reset things and get your next chance.
And if you're an achievement hunter let's not forget to talk about the ridiculous 50 hour achievement. I gave up looking for the above mentioned items around the 12 hours mark. Walking around in free roam quickly gets tedious, because there's no real variation. I would bet someone with better gaming sense could find everything in this amount of time and more ambitious people would struggle for another 12 hours and get it done by then. But there's just no way to realistically spent 50 hours in this world. So get ready to use a save game or idle in-game. If you're planning to idle be sure to stay out of the menus and save occasionally, because it's your save game that needs to log 50 hours and not steam.
Now one last little thing I would like to warn about, a tiny spoiler , is something that could possibly happen to you:
If you're in the factory there'll be an auto quick save after you've crossed the large pipe. At this point make sure you get the relatively close by "Rusty small key". Getting this key can be somewhat tough challenge and you might have to try multiple times. If you go explore in the wrong direction, find the statue and quick save you'll have doomed yourself to a long walk, tedious walk for each try.
The artstyles are as cute as they can also be horrifying. I'd play this game more, but I have skill issues, and can't beat Chapter 2.

I would really love to recommend this game because I really enjoyed playing it on the switch so I got it again for my computer. But now the game crashes once it shows the first official loading screen. I didn't even manage to reach the main menu.
Well that was one hell of a way to start a game.
Alright, so it's an upvote despite feeling quite annoyed with the game. You have a decent formula for a charming horror, but oh boy do I absolutely loathe the running sections in chapter 6 and 7. Why oh why would you make the chase sequences with randomized odds of success - cause honestly, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason to your winning strategy. You are required pixel-perfect precision while randomly dying to enemies' rapid turns, random stamina recovery and random amount of steps you are allowed to take, randomly outspeeding enemies by a pixel (or not) (or outspeeding them and dying anyway, cause their hitboxes are like a mile away from their body and the air will hit you and kill you at random either way. You are welcome).
I spent about 2 hours dying over and over and over again during the ending, which would take probably 10 min at max otherwise. Why do we need to suffer so, dear devs.
Though, if you forget random bull like that (and a few other bullshit sections, though those were minor) it's a fun game with decent atmosphere. I liked it, even when I hated it at times.
Fun and challenging at the same time. The jump scares are the best.
Game was ok. Story is meh no twist and turns.
The bad part is mouse and keyboard support. I don't know if the devs are playing dumb or just outright vile to mkb players. Instead of using you know the mobility of mouse to act as movement for flashlight they hardbound it to arrow keys.
Also the panic stamina the game just make it bad not hard. When your character is alone stamina depletion is fine and manageable but once a monster is in vicinity let alone chasing her the stamina depletes very fast meaning you can't outrun or outmaneuver the monster you just die A LOT.
Leading to more frustration that leads to scare being erased from the game which are about Japanese monsters.

The vibes are off the charts. it’s like if Ghibli made a horror game but threw in the kinda stuff that gives you nightmares. Quick saves don't save your game, they're checkpoints. If you don't go home to save your game and quit the game, you'll lose all your progress.
Make sure you keep walking.
This game has a bunch of oversights that don't seem to have been patched in almost 10 years. Hopefully somebody else can have a better time with it.
If you like Japanese folklore and monsters, you'll probably enjoy this.
It's alright when it comes to it's style, it handles its sounds quite well and exploring around is kinda nice. However, there are a couple cheap jumpscares, enemies teleporting on you to test your reflexes and very tedious boss sequences.
100% achievement completion boils down to a collectathon after you beat the story, followed by idling the game for another 40 hours. The collectathon is alright, but the idling does not add anything and kinda ruined the game for me, since it's the only thing I'll remember about this expierence.
Overall, it's just not quite there; but probably worth as part of a bundle.
darksouls reflect need
I platinum'd this game before on the PSVita and came back to it for nostalgia's sake.
And my god, a part of me says I wish I kind of didn't because I got so annoyed with some of the bosses and enemies in this game, but looking past that, it's still as charismatic, adorable, sweet and maybe even heartbreaking as I remember.
This game still touches me like how it does before with just how innocent it is, and how warm it makes me feel. I fell in love with the characters, the atmosphere and just the very feel of this game is. I first loved this game because I played it during a time I was addicted to Asian horror mythological creatures or whatever else, especially ones from Japan; and this game just ticked all in my "wish list" for my perfect horror game and I am absolutely joyous for how much fun I had with it, it's definitely the most memorable too, having to leave my PSVita just running while I sleep, and now I'm doing the exact same thing but with my computer. I can't say much other than the fact it's just a lovely game that when given a chance, you can't help but just feel attached to it. It's the perfect mixture of being dark, cute, innocent and scary.
This will forever have a place in my heart as "that one game" with even such a great soundtrack that's just so beautiful and for the millions of monsters and ghosts that I haven't even seen before and for the second time I've played it, I'd be meeting some new ones still. The vibe, theme and atmosphere of this game is absolutely perfect and I love how it's even more emphasized to put you in this child-like perspective to truly immerse you in the horrors that surrounds an adorable, sweet and innocent protagonist.
I can't wait to play Midnight Shadows and Lost in the Dark after this.
This positive review comes with several caveats.
1. This game can be frustrating and unforgiving.
2. One of the achievements (Long Night) is pretty obnoxious to get. It took me about 15 hours to complete this game, but I'll need to idle it up to 50 for that last achievement.
That said, visually this game is beautiful. The atmosphere is perfect. I liked the story and all the collectible quests.
Some sections were needlessly frustrating though. Several enemies move extremely quickly, and getting touched by any of them is an insta-kill. I followed a walkthrough guide, purely to limit the frustration. When the price for failure was so high (often requiring a long walk through multiple minor enemies to get back to where you were) I was not inclined to experiment or explore.
Overall, I enjoyed the game, but could have done without some of the more finicky sections.
Some bos can be anoying but overall is great game.Spooky but not scary.Also the story is simple yet interesting.
