Walking simulator with an interesting concept. The story is kinda generic, but it's a neat, short experience.
One of the more intriguing concepts for a horror game I've ever seen. Definitely worth the low price and time investment.
A short but impactful horror game, I usually don't like horror but this is an exception. 4/5
It's a bit more like a tech demo with a lot of ambiance. But very cool and worth throwing a few dollars at.
Really cool idea, though sometimes there were framedrops due to ammount on dots.
Honestly a mid game the first 20m are good but after that they just completely forget its supposed to be a horror game exploring a cult and you just walk around a cave museum. And i just want to say the second the game said that spirits get trapped in the cave i called it i said we are dead and we are re living our final hours. Ending sucked.
Great atmosphere and aesthetic. Introduces new elements at just the right pace. Unique identity from any other walking simulator I've ever played. Found myself wondering if this technology could be viable in real life. Would be helpful when I need to go to the bathroom at 3:00 A.M.
A really great, atmospheric experience. Has the vibe of walking alone on a trail and just feeling something is "off" add in the great visual style with the LIDAR mechanic and this is just a great time. Highly recommended for any horror fans or just fans of atmospheric games narrative games like Firewatch
Short, but goddamit it's great. It takes your fobias twists it on max and makes you go further. The story is interesting and the end just makes it PERFECT. I will happily play it again after some time, but first feel is just best for this game.
a fun short story that has you more and more curious as to what is coming next. defenitly plays on the fear of the unknown, very well done. would personaly recomend it when its on discount.
Not bad! Get this one out of your wish-list and into your library. As relaxing as it is stressful. Nice and short and I recommend playing it in one sitting. Cool stuff!
Very, very spooky, a nice take on the lidar horror idea.
Not much really to say, it's short, creepy, and pretty worth it on sale.
1. Reading reviews will ruin the experience.
2. It's a polished game with a compelling story, unique gameplay, and a great atmosphere — just give it a try.
Must...scan...every...single...square...inch...of...walls
This game brings to the table a very interesting lens of horror through the projection of LIDAR. The whole game is a fantastic psychological thriller where you wonder if something is waiting just beyond the corner, or biding its cave-dwelling time to be pinged by some multi-colored dots. Overall, the game was a very splendid experience and the ending made the playthrough all the more worth it.
While the trailer shows what looks like smooth locomotion, there is none. You are stuck with a very short distance teleportation mechanic.
No way to crouch and no way to turn using the controller. You have to physically turn, which is obviously an issue when you don’t have a wireless headset.
After a short while I ended at the edge a ravine with a wall to my back and no way to turn back, at least none that I could see (maybe I clipped through the wall to get there). I had to load a checkpoint and take another path. I ended up at another ravine and when I tried to go back, I clipped through the floor and fell out of the map. I tried 3 times and fell each time. It seems there is a way across the ravine but I won’t bother trying anymore.
The options are bare bone. It is buggy and I really don’t feel the appeal other gamers have described.
fun but all in le head fr
its peak
over all i give it a 5 out of 5 great game play and a interesting story i am definitely replaying again. :)
good game, but idk if i would pay $6 for a game which is easily 3 hours long. I went out of my way to be absolutely beyond slow, and i got 6.6 hours. Might have some replay value, but not a super ton. Get it on sale for sure, but if there is a good sale, do get it.
play it
A captivating denial of experience.
Wow, wow, WOW!
I've seen many a games with creative design, but this one takes the cake. The scanning mechanic is so cool, its so awesome, I love it so much! The horror aspect I feel could have been left till the end, I do like the story, it's a good one.
I'm just feeling that if it was about a cave explorer using new experimental sonar technology mapping out a newly discovered cave system & finding weirder & creepier things, ending with a massive head that looked to them, it would have been scarier. I feel the horror came too early & then never got scary again.
The fact this game has no award for this astonishing feat of game design is why I disregard game awards. This deserves at least a nomination for most innovative. Great work, Introversion!
scary
Do not buy this for vr, does not have normal movement, only does teleport without turning.
Such a powerful game. I tried to write this entry three times and none of them captured what I was getting at. Every inch of this place was lit by my scanner by the end. Will be playing through again. Spent so long in certain areas looping around, taking it all in. 10/10 would reccomend
Its very good to play it once
Really fun game
This game was great and very unique. Kept me hooked and intrigued for the entirety of the play through.
scary and short, like a dwarf with a knife
Disclaimer: This review contains spoilers. TLDR The game is good and you should play it
Very atmospheric. The sound design is great. The concept behind the game makes the gameplay super unique, and makes it so certain details get revealed in ways other narrative games don't. The pacing is great, with upgrades being given at just the right times so the main mechanic never becomes tedious.
The only non-positive (not even that negative really) things I'd have to say are that I didn't personally find the story super engaging until around the end, and the lack of vr settings. Totally understand reducing motion sickness as much as possible by default, and when there are no settings, this is certainly the better way to go, but I'd much prefer being able to walk and jump around than only be able to do short teleports.
And to finish off the good-""bad""-good sandwich, I really like how the vr version gives you more control over the map and allows you to shoot the lidar around corners. I also appreciate that there aren't any active monsters, with the only real threat being in the lake area. I don't think I would have liked it as much if I were being chased, but the idea that something *might* be there was enough to keep the tension going.
This was fun. I wish there were more games like this.
Really fun game, great story. DEFINITELY worth it.
This is a game that is a true example of how a game can also be art. The visuals are beautiful and the mechanics behind it are immensely satisfying. The story that unfolds is good, but I won't speak more on it because spoilers. My only gripe with it is that on one or two occasions the movement felt a little clunky but besides that I have no complaints.
Also, this game is more or less a one and done deal. It's bite sized, very cheap, with eerie elements and an amazing soundtrack. I highly recommend you go into this game with as little prior knowledge as possible. Thank you Introversion Software for creating such a unique and enjoyable experience.
Great game. Severe goosebumps and creeps at a few points, but one area in particular. Makes you think, and appreciate what you have. Afterwards I called my family just because I could, and thoroughly enjoyed just standing on my balcony looking at the scenery.
Short Lidar horror game. Struggles from not having any hostile enemies, so it's basically just a walking simulator. Also there's a lot of stuff involving a cult that never gets fleshed out. It introduces upgrades frequently enough so that the main gameplay loop doesn't get stale for it's short runtime.
AMAZING!!! Pretty long game too!
Ever been on a cave tour and wanted to wander off the path and explore the infinite darkness? This game feels like that, except this cave is pretty linear and easy to navigate. Which is fortunate, because at first I was worried it would be a very realistic lost-in-a-cave simulation. It turns out to be a pleasant walking simulator with striking scenes and spooky moments. There's not much of a story; it's more about the atmosphere.
Most likely the best walking sim I ever played, and one of the most captivating, dreadful gaming experiences ever.
novel idea, really liked the gameplay
This game's atmosphere is phenomenal and terrifying. I am reminded of many different world's when I started to get into the game just a bit but none of them feel like they inspired it in any way, it is something so unique in of itself probably in it's utter simplicity. What a hidden gem of a game that is beautiful and eerie.
I have not played in depth because I got too scared to continue and need to have some other folks around to watch to understand how scary this game is. I swear, I will continue to play because I want to see how this ends.
A Short but great. A great concept for a game that was executed wonderfully.
very good game, an amazing atmosphere and great sound design. The scares work really well and are not overdone. I would give it a 9/10
It can be very loud but the loudness of the music adds to the experience except at times where it would be so loud it sounded muddy, which worked a little bit, but felt a little off.
For how minimal the tid bits of story you get are, this game is thoroughly engaging and emotive. There's fear, there's wonder. There's exploration and that feeling of being lost yet determined push forward. I love mechanically how this game works. The way the scanner forces you to interact with the environment all the way to how it handles you losing progress is so fluid and just, curious. I love it.
I genuinely have zero complaints other than it could have been longer. Yet even as I type that, it's more that I wish I could play it through again for the first time. Genuinely awesome work, I can not recommend it enough.
The game was an interesting concept. Unfortunately there was far too little game play and finished it in under 2 hours. I was hoping there would be more scary instances but most of it was just making sure you scan before a jump puzzle .
Very trippy and neat game. Also kind of disturbing. Would walk through this again someday.
It's a worthwhile experience.
Great environmental storytelling coupled with a cool concept and just the right amount of spook.
this game was very cool although shorter than expected. the story is cool it's pretty straightforward and it makes sense towards the end. somehow towards the end i was lagging, i think this game tries to load every single dot that you scan and it causes a little bit of lag. the concept is neat and the playthrough is very straightforward. you would think in an open world game like this it would be easy to get lost but i managed to not get lost at all. get it on sale if you wanna play it.
THE MUSIC AND AUDIO AND AMBIENCE IN THIS GAME IS REALLY COOL AND ITS PROBABLY THE BEST PART
Cool visuals and setting, intriguing snippets of lore throughout, great music and atmosphere. Very enjoyable and worth the money despite having a rather short play time to complete.
