I was exited for the fly fishing but it doesn't work. It sais you need a smaller hook even when fishing with the smallest hook... Wow. Cant do false casting either, Farcry 5 has better fly fishing. The ice fishing rod bends the wrong way and the line looks like its clipping through solid ice when there's a fish on. Its immersion breaking. Ill change to positive if above issues get fixed.

PROS:

-- the basic fish-catching mechanic is engaging and done just right (it's not too hard, or too easy and repetitive, also, it's a little different for every fish and has a dose of realism to it)
-- the water looks great
-- the sounds of the game are relaxing, almost zen-like
-- there is a decent chunk of content in the base game
-- you can get all the DLCs for about $35 when they're not on sale
-- you need to know the basics of your fish, equipment, baits, and fishing spots in order to do the job
-- on the other hand, this is not a super-realistic fishing simulation, so you won't get stuck in the nitty-gritty stuff for hours
-- there is a decent amount of Steam achievements, and they are satisfying to look for in-game
-- if you have even a semi-decent rig, you can cast your rod, set some alarm bells for your next catch, then press Win+D and do something else, until the fish bites
-- there are custom tournaments you can organize and/or participate in, which can be so cool
-- UFS is quite a chill experience overall

CONS:

-- it can feel a little boring and uninspired, once you're out of the honeymoon period (20+ hours)
-- most of the best content is locked behind paid DLCs
-- the background trees, rocks, and other landscape pieces look low-quality
-- the boat-riding mechanics, graphics, and sounds are pretty bad
-- when they are close to extraction, the fish you catch don't differ too much in size, visually speaking
-- the game has some weird bugs (you'll see)

Overall, this is an easy recommendation (if you're into fishing games), albeit it's far from a perfect game.

of DLC (Optional places to fish and special lures etc. Actually I like the nature sound effects and time of day can
can be changed and with that the graphics change with the time also..
It's cool to watch the fish in "underwater view". I kind of like the reality of it AND I have caught fish.

reminds me of the old fishing games i played on ps2, really fun and a decent amount of unlockable gear and fishing spots, i wish some of the maps could be bigger but its a really fun game

Relaxing fishing game that comes with a very large variety of fishes and places to fish (if own all DLC'S) and a wide selection of gear (rods,lines,floats,lures,baits) and much more. Recommend buying the dlcs especially when sales are, so you can enjoy more places to fish in the world and discover and catch new types of fishes.

I sat on my PC and drank beer all day playing this game. Missed my kids piano recital and my wife left me. I didn't catch a single fish. 10/10 just like real life

As an avid fisherman, I appreciate this game for what it is. The visuals are decent enough and the mechanics are easy enough to grasp.

Where this game really shines for me is how it makes for a very relaxing decompression game. You can earn money to buy more gear and tackle, or earn EXP to increase your level and unlock new areas.

While this is not an arcade fishing game like Sega Bass Fishing, it does not have to be. The game is fair in the sense that you need the appropriate gear, tackle, and line to catch bigger, better, and badder fish.

What is even more neat is the fact this has online multiplayer so you don't have to solo in your fishing excursions if you don't want to. In fact, if you have friends to get into this game with you, it really brings a more personal element into the mix.

All in all, I would give this game a chance if you really enjoy fishing in your free time and want an angler's fix when you are you have an itch that need to be scratched. As a gamer I give this a 7.5/10, but as a fisherman i gladly give this game a 9/10 just due to the fact there are not that many fishing games out there that put this level of detail into their product.

yes very good, nice game and good with all the dlcs. i would recomend this game if u like too fish and then loose the fish and then punch your screen and then die of alchol posineing in the river.

Pretty good fishing game. More for the casual audience, but well developed nonetheless. I would highly recommend buying the Ultimate Fishing Simulator 2 instead. It has much more features and better UI to navigate. Something I don't like is that the lures/rods aren't realistic. Certain lures wouldn't work in real life; however, as an arcade fishing game, it's great! The hawk vision a time saver. Underwater cam is always fun to watch. Great game to relax to or fish while you watch a show on the side.

I love to fish but never have time to do it IRL. This game satisfies that need very well without being a money pit like some of the "free to play" games are. The graphics are lovely on my PC, but I am definitely looking forward to the remaster to see how much better they can be, The discord community is also pretty friendly, and people are generally there to help and have a good time.

It's still the best fishing game on the market based on the features it provides alone, and just about the only one that actually has fly fishing.

I'm not a fisherman but I saw this game on sale dirt cheap game makes me feel relax and at peace while fishing def recommend grabbing this game on sale and trying it out graphics are realy good and wide range of fish to catch

this game has a decent number of maps and so much variety in your gear options you will probably never use half of them but at least you will have a fun time finding out the perfect combination for every species. being able to add the fish you catch to custom aquariums is a nice touch.

I've enjoyed playing this SIM

Just completed a full collection of the non-DLC fish species. This game is so much fun, especially when I found the appropriate hook/lure size / float wire length for a specific fish. Fighting against a 340 kg marlin in ocean for 3 min is such an amazing experience. I've never tried fishing in real life before, and I got to learn a lot of technical details about different fishing approaches from this game. Can't wait to proceed to DLCs for more fishing.

Well after playing this game for a couple hours and not realising how old it was, I was like man this game looks rough. Then reading that it is a team of 4 making the game, I am pretty impressed. Although I read that they are revamping the game engine ie. graphics etc. I can't wait for that to come out as this game has potential. Kinda wish I didn't buy the DLC's though until then as I have been let down by indie developers before

I'm not a fisherman, never been fishing, nor been interested in it. That said, I bought this in the last sale and I am so glad I did. The scenery itself is relaxing enough, but fishing in this sim is a great way to spend an hour or two. I really like it.
The guy who refunded because no one was there to hold his hand and tell him the triggers on the controller cast and reel in/out, while the thumb sticks allow you to walk around, is obviously the type who should just stick to Minecraft. The simplicity of the controls is something any 5 year old could figure out within 5 minutes. The mental illness of young folk today is worrying - and refunding, when you paid $1 for this game in the sale? Seriously? Get a grip man.

Absolute waste of money.

When trying to use a controller the game is a total mess. The most basic consideration has not been given to controller usage. All tutorials tell you which mouse button or keyboard key to press. I could find no option to change this so I'm left constantly having to navigate through horrible menu screens to find the controller inputs page every time the game wants me to press anything.

The UI is a mess and really baffling to navigate with a controller. Highlighting a menu option is no guarantee that you will actually be selecting that option when you hit your X/A button; often you'll find the page scrolls up or down suddenly to show you which option the game thinks you were selecting, with no discernible reason to it.

Just a horrible attempt at a game. I requested a refund even though the game cost me less than 2 quid on sale. That's how much I hate this game.

Originally posted a good review until I hit level 14. You start going to different maps and using different gear looking for different fish and no fish bite. You can't catch anything. The rules make no sense. Guides make no sense. One of the worst things you find is that lures and spin/cast would work on pretty much any fish but not i n this game. Many realism and simulator issues in this game. Difficulty is way too high and unrealistic. Just nothing works and it just becomes not very fun or exciting.

crap game -

Screen turns black after fish cam and doesn't allow me to reel sometimes. I know games that are in way in early access in and way less buggy, try Call of Wild: The Angler if you want a good fishing game

its a pretty good game, a bit technical so it takes a while to get your head around but when you do its a lovely game

Great game to calm down and unwind. It's nice to have in-game internet radio, so I listen to 1FM Country all the time while fishing. It's easy to get going and reasonably self-explanatory. Graphics are good enough. DLCs are fun if bought on sale. Plenty to explore.
