idk how i got this game. it kinda just appeared.
Family-friendly battle type game. Runs smooth. Think it will be good to introduce some friends to VR who aren't in to the gun/gore stuff or can't handle too much flashly lights or chaos. I'm sure it would be fun to battle friends in as well.
Suggestion: Would recommend different buttons for fort block control vs snowballs, because I keep grabbing the blocks when I'm trying to make/throw snowballs.
e.g. for Vive, I like trigger for building/throwing snowball ; but would prefer if grip was used to handle the fortress blocks.
Family fun with just 3 issues...
1) Cannot change the camera position, so you will need to accommodate the annoying positioning issue.
2) Too easy to lose the catapult and sore shoulders are inevitable when throwing.
3) Throwing mechanics are terrible and inconsistent (think they're encouraging gentles throws & makes it harder)
Other than these three things this game is AWESOME FUN!
Basic game is this;
Build a fort out of snow and Ice. then snowball fight with snowmen until you win or lose.
The blocks are either provided or delivered through a portal. There are small single blocks, double blocks, long four single blocks, huge square 8 blocks and a variety of tetris shaped blocks too. The blocks are either snow or ice, and the only rule is that ice on ice will slip (which is cool). Breaking Ice takes longer than snow & is see-through.
You can obtain a number of tools (catapult, shield & water bottle to which repairs your blocks)...there may be others i have yet to find.
Your opponents base can have multiple ? boxes and these do various things like explode (very handy) repair your catapult or current tool, and also give you health back (you have 3 hearts each round).
Most rounds it is 1v1, but later levels are much harder with 4 v 1 and possibly more???
The game has MP, but I have never found anyone to play with, best bet is vs a friend.
Excellent game, despite my criticism it is well worth a buy for some family friendly Xmas fun!

If you want to feel like you're in a real snobal fight, you can throw using normal motion, or, later, if you're lazy, there's a slingshot.
So much fun. Get it!
Snow Fortress is a lot of fun to play!
I enjoyed the game a lot. To be honest i really thought this would be a very easy game
but it wasn't. It was challenging and has a great play style.

This would be a great multiplayer game.
And you are gonna want to get kneepads, cause it gets intense in the winter of battle.
Seems like the only thing really missing is some of the audio.

Love survival mode.
This game seemed like a no brainer for turning into a VR game, but it's unexpectly difficult. It's hard to throw accurate, more than 2 people attacking you is overwhelming, and achieving 3 star seems impossible since you dont know what the grading system is based on. So unless they improve on dodging or make a online multiplayer, like 1v1 or teams, I can't recommend this to anyone.
This is one of my favorite games on the Vive. It uses Room Scale perfectly and is quite exciting. Dodging snowballs and such is a blast. Hiding and firing around obstacles makes me REALLY want a paintball game.
I live in an area that does not get alot of snow, so this game felt like it would be fun, it wasn't.
You die way to easily and cant hide behind any fort you make in the minute it gives you. I would not spend money on this game.
Overall a really good game, lots of fun. It runs smoothly, takes advantage of VR, the throw mechanic feels really natural. I highly recommend you to try it. However, I do have some issues/proposals:
- The game ramps up in difficulty really fast. It took me 4 attempts to beat Level 3, the AI's aim is just too good too early on. Survival mode felt better, it allowed for more time to get used to the mechanics before it got harder.
- Setting up your snowfort at the beginning of each level can be tedious. I'd like to be able to save templates and just load those, or at least reset the snowfort to your previous one for each level when you fail.
- I wouldn't recommend this game if you have a standing-only placespace. Mine is rather small (1.6x2.2m) and the blocks to build the fort were at the edge of it. At one point I had to pull a lever that was placed outside my chaperone bounds by default.
[*] So far, the game is lacking music. While it's appropriate if you want to simulate a snowfight, I feel like the game would benefit from quiet music in the background.
I liked it. Please don't make me build the fort over and over. In fact an autobuild would work for folks who want to spend more time in action. All in all this was fun.
Ive not played a great deal yet, but I havent found a Vive game that made me laugh or sweat quite as much as this. Well worth parting with 10 shiny dollars for.
The mechanics are quite simple and it's very much WYSIWYG. But in its simplicity hides a legitimate fear of being smacked in the head by a ball of ice. The styling is lovely and the feel of throwing snowballs and manipulating the blocks to create forts is spot on.
Some balancing probably required (v0.503 played) as it's quite difficult straight off the bat.
Look forward to seeing where the developers take it.
This is a really cute little game with nice graphics. Like others, I'd like to see a few more levels / challenges. Also, I wish there was a way to automatically generate your fort. Perhaps there could be an option to use the fort you built from the previous stage? It actually gets a little annoying to have to build a new fort each time. Otherwise, a great game (especially for kids) with a very small learning curve.

Great game so far. Immersive, intuitive, challenging and fun. Needs more content and balancing, in the best case MP, but the foundation is very promissing!

Very immersive, and very fun. At times i would be on the floor trying to hide behind any part of my snow fort that i had left. It gets progressively much harder throughout the levels, but still fun. I cant wait to see whats going to be added because right now it feels like a very polished game. For the price i would highly recommend.
Snow Fortress was suprisingly challenging and a lot of fun to play! I'll be excited to see where they go with this game.

There is a multitude of Fun to be had with Virtual Snow: Blocks that fit together nicely, Snowballs that do not freeze your hands, the ability to Sling the balls, plus quickly formed Snowballs & Blocks.
Experiences such as this one, give me that feeling of Play & Excitement, that the Youth in me enjoys, as well as a Challenge that Invigorates the body (I look forward to trying to best, the best Survival Scores)
Some of the Audio Levels could use a little tweaking, or tweak-ability
There were a couple of points where my Computer Setup had trouble processing what comes next, but I assume that those are bugs which can be taken care of
A few of the Levels were a little easy (especially when the Snowman runs away scared, from its Fort... haha) I have saved Level 12 for later, I am sure I can take it... maybe?
Those Snowpeople sure can Throw potently sometimes, so much so, that it feels a little off, or that they may have Slingshots as well?
The Voice Acting was excellent There is defiantly something here, and many Possibilities, I hope this Game can continue to advance, and receive some helpful Feedback from the Steam Community, to grow the Fun & Enjoyment this Title brings

I can Imagine the toughness of the new Levels, and it is Test of my Ability that I welcome
Thank you for giving me that Snow Play, without the Cold or Exhaustion of creating Forts, Tools and Projectiles
