mind blowing cyberpunk goodness

It's early access and has minute bugs here & there but the devs care & are consistently fixing issues with every update. You can tell this is a passion project and it's their baby. And thank God! We've NEEDED this game to do the [cyberpunk] genre justice since VR's inception and to my opinion most all have missed the mark until Doll City.
I've had this game since May 2020 and wanted to wait until I had some valuable time in it to see what the devs would do over time before I wrote a review. And HOLY F**KING 'ISH! Doll City is my VR drug! It's 100%! immersive, trippy, psychedelic, sexy. grimy, industrial, and addictive. Great aesthetic, music, and style. Gameplay needs a little twerking but has majorly improved since I first strapped on back in May. I hope the guys at GaelDK keep building this and move on to bigger and better cyberpunk projects for this is not only the foundation of something amazing, this game is the foundation of what Cyberpunk in VR is and should be. Thank you GaelDK and Infiniverse! If you ever need anyone to test any of your projects, I'm more than willing. A+ guys! Cheers!

Ok, where to begin. How would I describe this game? If you take Tron, Blade Runner and add a metric ton of DMT, you get Doll City. I've been playing it for quite a while throughout it's development and I still have no idea whats going on. But that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the ride. The visuals are amazing, the scale is unbelievable and the whole dystopian cyberpunk vibe is brilliant. This game has enormous potential. While glitchy and a little confusing at these early development stages, my hopes are high for something truly epic, once it reaches a more complete stage. Definitely worth checking out and supporting if you're into the dark cyberpunk style vibe.

Hopefully the devs deliver on the update, because the game does need more story. But for the sale price this game is worth it.
YES! Finally a well deserved cyberpunk style game to the VR community. Let me just say folks that this is worthy of your attention. I've been keeping my eye on this on for a while now, and glad I took the chance to give it a try. The artistry and creativity of this game is top notch, a well as a fun style of game play. I can't wait for the full release. We NEED more games like this for VR gamers.

I don't see any other VR games out there with this kind of style. Especially since Steam is flooded with too many "VR experiences", and not enough full genuine games. Get ready to be blown away by this one. 10/10 personal score!
One of the most psychedelic VR experiences I've had, and I've tried them all! (including SoundSelf, MicrodoseVR, Space Dream VR, Rez Infinite, Thumper, etc.) There's so much to say. First off, this "game" isn't complete. It's less than Alpha status right now, meaning that gameplay mechanics aren't in place. That said, the developers are certainly working on a game... there's too much attention to detail for them not to be toiling away at building this world.
The art direction is *brilliant*. I haven't seen art direction this good since Metroid came out for Gamecube. I think it's an apt comparison because an indie title like this simply can't compete with the man-hours it takes to make something absolutely gorgeous, like God of War 4.
I picked this up on sale for $7.49, over a year ago. Only now is it worth the $7.49 I paid for it. Even if it never becomes a real game, just marveling at the world they've created is worth your $7.49 -- I'm hesitant to recommend $15 at this point, however. There's another VR game, Technolust, which only touches a fraction of the cyberpunk emotion that oozes throughout the half-constructed worlds of this game. Level 2 is like a roller coaster ride through a cell-shaded, neon lit, Blade Runner universe. A half-written Doll City is better than a finished Technolust, IMO.
I'm fascinated to see what becomes of this project. I worry the ambition and talent of the artists behind this might exceed their ability to make & finish a playable game. I hope I'm wrong to worry. Developers -- if you're reading this, and you ever think about abandoning the project, please, aggressively sell what you've done to an existing studio, who can finish the game portion of what you started. And then immediately begin working at an existing studio, who can funnel your immense artistic talent into a state-of-the-art workflow.
There's so much promise here. The world feels amazing. I hope these guys pull it off. Hell, if you're curious, just buy it, play level 2 in the touch/roomscale section (the game is divided into Gamepad and Touch modes) and if you don't feel it's worth it, return it within the 2 hr window. I suspect you'll end up sticking with your purchase, as I did, on the chance that your support helps this become a real game.
its great visual games and if you like cyberpunk enviroment then this is awesome game. Dev is adding more futuristic enviroment on next update. im only spent little bit but very impressive so far.
I played this game on my Vive and here are my observations:
PROS:
1. Immersive cyberpunk/surreal atmosphere.
2. Dedicated developer who from what I have noticed is still keen on improving and updating the game.
3. Acceptable controls.
4. I have not encountered any game-breaking bugs during my two hours of gameplay.
5- No stuttering and runs well on my vive.
CONS:
1. The story is bare-bones; you will not understand what is going on but after you reach the later chapters. Don't play this if you are looking for a deep story.
2. The graphics are not very impressive, which is strange considering that the game was made using unreal engine.
3. The minigames are quite tedious and playing them feel like a chore.
It's an okay game with a unique atmosphere, but 15 dollars is too much for this game. Wait and get it on a sale when it sells for 5 to ten bucks.
If you had a time machine and took a full VR development kit back to the late 1980s, and you turned it over to a bunch of Amiga demo scene coders and told them to make a Cyberpunk-themed VR game, and then you gave them a good supply of LSD to trip on while they work. . . Doll City Prologue would be the result. I suggest taking off your shirt when playing, so you can feel the cords trailing down the back of your neck. It's that kind of game.

This game looks so good, but it doesn't work with Oculus Touch. I expected to be able to play this based on the steam input support
This and Lord Darydikilkil are the only VR games I've ever uninstalled. They are also the only VR experiences I've ever played that induced stomach-churning, walking-with-a-20-degree-list-for-45-minutes-afterwards motion sickness.
I love the surreal and bizarre... whether it be books, movies, games or art in general (think Philip K. Dick, Dali, Burroughs, Lynch, Cronenberg, Magritte, etc.)... but these games are just bad. Bad-bad... not good-bad. Bad controls. Bad graphics. Bad sound. Bad.
I see there have been some updates since I first played, so maybe I'll give this another whirl and change my opinion, but... bad.
I really love the way this game looks.
played this game and loved it the emersion is great its a lot diffrent then any game you will ever play vr or otherwise
but for some reason i get stuck the game wont let me advance forward i keep jumping to get to next level in the what looks like a tower under construction with a bunch of rings you have to transport to to go up. But for some reason no matter how much i jump it wont let me jump on the next platform to complete level thought it was me but everyone who plays that level gets stuck plus been a while for updates still needs alot of work but has great potential.
A very cool not only game, but experience in VR. It's a very cerebral and emersive game that get's my approval. The developer seems to also be dedicated to imroving the experience as well which I truely appreciate. Final note the game also runs really well in VR with no drops in performance from what I've seen. If you have a rift I think it's a worthy buy if you like cyberpunk.
This is one of my favorite Vive games and a great showcase for VR having some of the best 3D design I've seen in a game yet along with great special effects. It's certainly unusual but refreshing as it's unlike any game I've played before.
Even better now it has the Vive controller enabled levels ... just waiting for the devs to add more. Great work guys, can't wait for the next update.

well. its weird and trippy AND CURRENTLY HAS NO ROOM SCALE SUPPORT!! yes, allow that to sink in for a sec.
to be fair, the game SAYS SO IN THE DESCRIPTION BOX.
the game itself is unapologetically (rightfullly so) CYBERPUNK!
the devs definitly got the immersion right on that score. the music is great and fits. the tutorial of sorts is interesting because you sort of just learn as you go at this point which makes gameplay seem comepletely disjointed.
the levels are blocked out as well in the main menu board with only level 0 out of 10 being selectable. i dont know if they only unlock in sequetial order or" ITS COMING" like roomscale VR? the games trippy i cant tell you a premise cause there doesnt seem to be one, but i WOULD RECOMMEND. that level 0 board however is a MAJOR FRAMRATE ISSUE AREA but when you walk up to the door to go to level 1 i believe it evens out coniderrably.
