Good, but not great.
The setting is original - you play as a drawn pedestrian, rearranging and connecting boards to progress.
The ambiance is nice; however, the gameplay becomes repetitive relatively quickly. New mechanics are introduced a bit late and,in my opinion, are not used much.
Controller controls can quickly become extremely frustrating!
Awesome concept with really creative puzzles that confused the hell out of me multiple times.
a phenomenal premise, executed excellently. absolutely brimming with potential. this is one of those puzzle games where you could easily make a Pedestrian 2 just off of unused ideas.
Fantastic, innovative, and fun puzzle game. Wonderful serene landscapes accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack. Very creative level design. Perfect for a relaxing gaming session that still challenges you. Wonderful job to everyone involved :)
a delightful little game! great, understated sound design. beautiful visuals that don't distract from the puzzles but make the experience flow and prevent anything from feeling too static. mechanics change frequently and build upon what you learned before. doesn't overstay its welcome. i will say i didn't enjoy the mechanics for the very last batch of puzzles, but that section is mercifully short. i bought the game at 75% off and thought that was a good price for a short experience (one playthrough will get you all achievements) - but that being said, i'm excited to see what else these devs make and i think it's worth it to support them by paying full price! :)
Fun puzzles, beautiful and fluid backround design, a very cozy little puzzle game
Great puzzles and awesome graphics! Curious to see what will happen next!
-didn't expect to become an electrical and civil engineer
- played game
- degree just arrived in the mail
- why are the houses i build 2D right until the back-end with missing wires everywhere?
-also where did all these signs, graffiti and notes of peoples names come from?
Great soundtrack with beautiful scenery accompanying it. Puzzles are decently rackin on the noggin
Kind of repetitive, easy walk-thru puzzle simulator. Low challenge, low interest. Dull and uninspired. It's like the old game portal except without a plot or comic relief.
One of the best puzzle platformers ever made
Originally played a few years ago on Xbox and became one of my all time favourites.
I figured enough time had passed that i could buy this again on Steam and play on my Deck, and im so glad i did.
For me, this is one of those rare titles that just reminds me how much i love video games. It's highly polished, with such great attention to detail and the music is beautiful.
The Puzzles are [for me] a little challenging but not in any way that made me frustrated. They are well thought out, with enough of challenge that i would sit in deep thought for 5-10mins without ever wanting to go look up a guide on YouTube etc.
My first play through took me around 7 hours, which isn't too long, but this game is more about quality over quantity.
You can really feel the love that went into making this game. 10/10 Highly recommend.
It still amazes me, years after first completing this game, just how much the visual polish and puzzle design are both achieved to the highest degree.
Story: ★★★☆☆
Music: ★★★☆☆
Gameplay: ★★★★☆
Overall: ★★★☆☆
Uniquely creative
A wonderful puzzle platformer. The puzzles can get challenging in the later stages of the game. The final puzzle is also well designed with the idea of making the player to think out of the box.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and puzzles. Would support a sequel for more story
A nice brain-teaser, only got stuck on one set of rooms, so it's not too difficult either (I'm not very good at puzzles).
Very obviously a labor of love, and worth it for sure.
Just a crazy idea, which works amazing. I would love to play more of it. I even tried to speedrun it, just to play some more.
Man what a ride! This game is short but sweet. From the perfect level of complexity, the music tracks, the scenery. I would definitely look forward to a sequel, if there ever is one.
I found The Pedestrian to be a short but sweet spectacle. The gimmick of connecting and moving 'rooms' around is executed creatively and with decent variation. There is a nice sense of progression in puzzle design and difficulty. I think that the atmosphere is peaceful and aesthetically appealing.
With that being said, I often felt the need to take breaks while playing the game (and felt relieved when I finished sections). I cannot quite put a finger on it, but there is something repetitive in how the game progresses and explores new concepts. Perhaps, puzzles and their concepts could use more depth and exploration. The puzzles often feel like showcases and introductions of concepts.
Still, I recommend The Pedestrian to anyone who enjoys a pleasant atmosphere or a casual experience.
7/10
The Pedestrian is a beautiful short game full of medium level puzzles. The interactions between puzzles and the backgrounds added a motion to the game-play, which was executed smoothly. Like it didn't affect the puzzle itself (except the finale) but makes all the interlude more interesting to watch. I especially enjoyed the end scene, it gave hope to our never-ending puzzled life, just relaxation and chill (am I too sentimental?). Anyway, studio likes this deserved huge recognition and supports.
I enjoyed this very puzzling game. I don't like violent games so it's nice to find the one where you don't have to fight monsters! Thought some of these puzzles were monsterously tricky. I hope there is a sequel. Where DID we go at the end??? I recommend this if you like mind-bending puzzles.
Super unique puzzle game. Beautiful and creative as you are a little person finding the exit on signage. Great on steam deck.
great puzzles and amazing visually
Very chill, brief atmospheric puzzler. Looking forward to this studio's next game!
It's a great puzzle game, Please give access for building puzzle
Leaving the innovative and fun game-play aside, the atmosphere of this game is immaculate. The visuals in the back and foreground are beautiful, and the music compliments the game-play perfectly. The game-play is utterly mind-bending at times, and yet, never fails to impress. I have plated through this game multiple times, and each time I find myself enjoying the game, and being more relaxed when I stop play for the day.
11/10, one of the greats of all time.
10/10.
unique way to play. puzzle levels are in between. super fun & great vibes.
One of the best puzzle game I ever played.
Puzzles aren't super difficult, but most are challenging enough to be rewarding when solved! Would recommend!
Really enjoyed the vibes of the game!
A puzzle beautifully woven into everyday life, framed by the signposts of a concrete jungle.
일상을 배경으로 명징하게 직조해낸 퍼즐.
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Doesn't impede on your time, beautifully crafted puzzles, a great story that's open to interpretation, simply amazing.
While the number of variables in each puzzle felt a little frustrating at times, it's a novel and visually interesting puzzle game.
I would've liked to see a bit more of the mechanics introduced at the end, which totally broke my brain (in a good way), but overall a good, short experience.
Utter genius. Mind blown. Simple yet profound. Efficient game play, tasteful music, next level creativity.
Amazing game! major brainfuck but if you like puzzle games you should definitely sheck this game out
who needs esg when u got Exit Sign Gaming. i shouldve posted a review after playing it like how many years ago but it is a very frie gamma also the soundtracks
This has been one of my favorite games so far. The mechanic was unique and enjoyable throughout. The puzzles were just hard enough to be challenging without being rage-inducing. The last puzzle was a twist I did not see coming and left me wanting a bit more of that. The artwork was absolutely gorgeous. My only complaint: there wasn't enough. I wanted more.
I'm not usually one for puzzle games on a PC, but I'm glad the art style of The Pedestrian made me make an exception; it's really good.
It's a simple premise, as most puzzle games are. You're a stick figure trying to get to the exit. Of course things change, more and more elements are added and that's the challenge.
The rules are simple (you can not undo a path once travelled without a reset, etc) and the puzzles tick along nicely within them. Rules later get changed, or rather you're able to apply an exception to the rules and at this point my brain started to hurt and I stared blankly at some of the later puzzles, but I never gave up or used a guide.
I guess that's one of the best things about puzzle games, the feeling when you're absolutely stuck and can't see a way out or even forward, but then it *clicks* and you get it. It's a good feeling. Such care has been taken with the level design here that even after the click, there's a gotcha, but it never feels cheap, just that the designers were one step ahead of you and for a puzzle game, that's good.
The visuals on this are amazing, your stick figure goes through various well-observed street furniture which always nail the aesthetic, but what is truly amazing are the backgrounds. I could only think of the sheer amount of time and effort to put into the street scenes, or a factory just occasionally whizzing by in the background. You don't play within these scenes, but that such care and attention to detail has been paid to the background only speaks highly to the care that was taken with this game.
The soundtrack is perfect, pure background music and even though I heard a lot of it while stuck, it never grated and was always welcome.
Special mention goes to the finale, no spoilers here but it's worth working for. Only a few times in my many decades of video gaming have I felt what is quite a bold decision was so well judged and fit absolutely perfectly. It was quite a thing to finish this very fine game on. Don't look it up, just play this brilliant puzzle game.
Well done to all those involved.
The Pedestrian is a quaint little puzzle-platformer, that leans more to the puzzle side of that term. The concept and art style as well as the music are all exceptional and the way the game plays out was surprisingly unexpected. You could say that its pretty short runtime is a negative but in my opinion, that just means it's the perfect game for an afternoon gaming session. Overall, The Pedestrian was a fun puzzle game with a ton of charm and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre. Also shout out to Columbus game devs!
Quite a nice puzzle game with interesting challenges. I had a good time playing this during a very long flight.
7/10
beautiful game in every aspect. if you like puzzles at all do not skip this one
A very cool little puzzle game.
great casual puzzle game
The game's background looks nice and the basic idea is fine I guess, but ... for 95 % of the game that's it.
Most of the time it's just quite easy, repeating 2D platformer puzzle without any story, comedy, or whatever you'd might like. The "beautiful" 3D background is just that - background without any meaning for the player at all (or I haven't seen any; I think it might be of some inside importance to the developer, but it gives nothing to the player). You don't have any option to look around, zoom, focus, etc. to explore it.
I expected something similar to the ending twist from the beginning, and yes, it happened (predictable, but at least something fun). It's a shame though that it didn't come earlier, since it made the game much better, but just for like the last 10 minutes - I saw the potential, but it wasn't used fully, because the game ended right when it became interesting.
Good puzzle games have something more in them - they are either hard or inovative (Baba is you), have story (Portal 1+2), have humor (Portal 2), are cute (Cats organized neatly), or if it's easy, it's non-repeating, or whatever. This game achieved it only in the last 10 minutes - if the whole game was like that, it would be great (finally some challenge, something new), or it could have had some story happening in the background (imagine seeing people doing something, maybe even interacting with the signs, might be fun), the work spent on the background was in fact pointless.
I finished the game fully in 3 hours, the only thing I'll remember about it is that it was underwhelming, I had higher expectations of it.
Oh yeah, and the price: 3 hour ok-ish game for 20 euros/dollars? Or for 6 when it's on sale? If I knew how short it was, I'd expect less than half that price (less than 10 normally and less than 3 in sale). I know that it's hard, time- and money-consuming to develop a game, but I would place it among 1-5 bucks worth games, sorry.
one of the best puzzle games I've ever played
amazing quality, definitely recommended
The puzzles are genuinely good and enjoyable, but there's not nearly enough content to justify the price. From start to finish it took me less than four hours to complete. Not worth the 19,50 they're asking.
The Pedestrian is an excellent game with a highly innovative puzzle system, especially in the final level. The puzzles are well-crafted, requiring a lot of thought, and are accompanied by a relaxing soundtrack that enhances the overall experience.
snore bore
3/10
I got bored and never came back.
