I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
One of the most buggiest unpolished platformer games I've ever beaten with so many technical issues:
- Terrible awful hit detection to where many times I've either stuck on moving floating platforms or getting stuck in walls after getting hit by monsters.
- melee and magic is mostly useless(even after max upgrading from coin grinding) except for bosses as rushing through them in levels is the better option.
- Saves can be very buggy as at least once before beating it, the game mysteriously clears 2 levels I didn't beat in the lava world after reloading my save O_o
The one good positive thing I like about this game is it's retro art style but sadly its buggy gameplay ruins it & turns into a poor frustrating mess :(
game
Bruh what is that?
Bad controls. Glitchy hit detection (if you decide to play this game, make sure to always attack your enemies from below or from the right side, you hit much more often then). Some platforms just kill you if you step on them... sometimes. Sometimes you don't get to jump, sometimes you get stuck on invisible platforms in the air. You can't always get off ladders by going up. Sometimes you have to jump down the ladders and start over.
This is one of two games I own that I regret buying. Don't play it.
Edit: And what you should do, if you for some reason decide to play the game, grind up max health and weapons on the first few levels. It will help a bit in the beginning. Not so much towards the end though, because then everything will be insta-kill. Spikes, arrows, chains.
A cute little game that I'd like to recommend, but as it is at the moment, it is somewhat unpolished.
I've so far got to the first boss, but it doesn't seem to be possible to beat him as soon as you get to him, unless I'm missing some trick. Even if you've got one of the upgrades (and only one is possible to afford after a single runthrough of the four levels prior to him), he still kills you before you seem to be making any progress. You can damage him for sure, but there's no indication of how much damage he still needs to take, so your efforts feel unconvincing.
The only option then seems to be to grind the four prior levels for coins to afford more upgrades - and I didn't expect to have to grind in a simple platformer like this.
There's also a few small glitches which make the game a little underwhelming to play - jumping near a ceiling is a little jerky for some reason, pausing very briefly on the upwards part, and colliding with the front of a moving platform causes things to pause again, until it finally delivers you to the floor (or spikes), and the platform is then delayed, which can make jumping between them more difficult. And just hope you don't fall between two that are about to meet each other - you get stuck, and have to restart the level...!
There's also the small matter that once you break urns, you have to go a short distance away from the coins and then back again to be able to pick the coins up, which can be the difference between escaping enemies, and dying to them.
The artstyle is really nice however, and the "fallen city" concept interesting (if I could discover more of the story), and the simplistic take is refreshing - I hope it gets a few patches in the near future to address these issues, as otherwise this would be a pretty fun and relaxing game to play!
