I played Darksiders long ago on PC when I was young and dumb, foolishly saying, "Ugh, this is just a God of War clone," and turned it off. Then I played it again years later, for real this time, and absolutely LOVED it. Now, fast-forwarding a few more years again, I am playing the Warmastered Edition. Does it still hold up? Heck yes!
In Darksiders, you follow the story of one of the four horsemen, War. There is a great battle happening on Earth between the forces of Heaven and Hell. The four horsemen are supposed to appear when seven seals are broken to bring balance between the factions. However, War notices something odd; he's here by himself. If that isn't worse enough, he keeps hearing from those around him that the seals were not broken and he shouldn't be here. His powers weaken, and he is killed by a powerful demon. He is brought before the Charred Council, and they say that he is to blame for all the humans being eradicated and for demons taking over. He is tasked with returning to Earth and slaying the one known as the Destroyer who leads the demon forces and to return balance. War's quest for revenge begins!
Darksiders is a Hack and Slash adventure game that blends God of War (PS2) and Legend of Zelda together. It replicates the gory and visceral combat of God of War as you fight demons, angels, bugs, and more through cityscapes, ruins, deserts, and more. At the same time, it is akin to Legend of Zelda in that War will pick up a ton of different gadgets to solve puzzles in dungeons. The combat is very simple to understand, and as you lower the enemy's health, you'll be able to execute them with the tap of a button.
I played the game on the Hard difficulty this time around and it was playable still. It forced me to play smarter and use my block and parry moves more often. Thankfully, the parry timing in this game is very forgiving,g and I never felt like I was cheated (much) on my many deaths in the game. The enemy variety starts to lessen a bit, but it makes it easier for you to learn attack patterns and when to swing, and when to block. There are plenty of spells and moves for you to learn in the shop with the different weapons you obtain throughout the game.
One of my favorite things was the backtracking and looking for secrets throughout the game. As you obtain more gear, you'll want to go back to previous areas to go through paths you couldn't before (very Metroidvania). There is a nice feeling of progression as you do feel yourself getting stronger and stronger. I also like that the enemy placement evolves as you progress the story. Stronger enemies will replace weaker ones in some of the starting areas, so it keeps you on your toes.
Boss fights were very memorable. Almost every boss is some big monstrosity, and it is a matter of figuring out their patterns and when to strike. Most times, just like Legend of Zelda, if you have obtained a new gadget, you'll have to use it during the boss fight to make sure you really know how and when to use it in combat. This is a double-edged sword, however, and I'll explain that in the gripes section. While it is nice to use new gadgets, some of them are a hassle to use in combat, especially on hard difficulty where one smack from the boss takes off CHUNKS of your health.
As for the gripes, where to start? Because this game is older, some players will feel it is a lot more clunky than current-day games of the same genre. I was fine with it, but be ready to adjust. For newer players, the further you get, the harder it will feel to keep track of all the weapons and gear that War has. It'll be tough to get used to switching gear simultaneously while solving some of the later puzzles. Though you can map your gear to the D-pad, when you get more than 4 gadgets, you'll start to feel the annoyance of having too much stuff. I mentioned the gadgets in boss fights being an issue sometimes earlier in the review. The ones that are annoying are the ones where you have to switch to an aiming view to hit particular targets on or around a boss. The aiming is stiff and clunky, as stated earlier, so it's hard to aim when you also have to focus on dodging when the timing window is small. It made for some annoying deaths at times.
Final verdict? I highly recommend this game if you're looking for a classic God of War type game to play. The story was VERY good, with great art style and direction, and the gameplay is pretty good, just aged. I clocked in at about 13-14 hours on the Hard difficulty and I didn't %100 it so there were still things for me to do. $20 is a fair asking price for the fun I had on this game, so grab it if you are interested in playing as War and slashing your way through hordes of enemies. Excited to jump in Darksiders 2 next! Thanks for reading!
This game is okay, at least, its not as good or challenges anything in the new ages of games. Maybe I should have played it back when it was coming out.
Gameplay is boring, nothing to keep you on the seat for hours - solid 5\10, because I do still enjoy slashers, but puzzles and movement(and controls in general) in this game made me wanna tear my hair out.
Story is a solid 8\10, unique and interesting idea. Great voice acting.
Everything else is a solid 8\10. Would recommend to play this game if you want to see how the games were back in the day, don't expect much, its very-very-very dated in many aspects
Greedy Vulgrum. Pretty Good Game.
Love the games so much great mash up of god of war zelda and devil may cry i have beat this game 100% on xbox playstation and now steam i highly reccomend it to everyone really wish darksiders 4 will come out but seems hopeless. Anyway if you get stuck a guide i use is kuddlesnot 100% walkthrough on youtube helped me in so many ways.
Great game!
Feels like a mix of PS2 God of War hack and slash with a fun combination of lite pre-Breath of the Wild Zelda dungeons.
Shorter linear "midware" games like these are gravely missing now a days.
It's on sale often, and you're missing out for not giving it a try.
good
Reminded me of old school god of war games.
Phá Tan Âm Mưu Đen Tối Của Hội Đồng Cùng Với Chiến Tranh
Best of all the 3. And really good game overall.
Pros:
- Great story from start to finish
- It's a great looking game visually
- The world is well designed with a great variety of locations to explore and fight in
- Lots of move sets when fighting (although I only used a handful)
- Most of the enemies, including bosses, are fun and challenging enough
Cons:
- Gets repetitive after a while
- It's probably five hours too long
- Too many puzzles. Mostly fun, but too many.
It's a good hack and slash style game. I was pretty surprised how well the game looks in 2024. It's just a bit too long IMO.
It's great! Fun Zelda-like with comic book story and aesthetics. Combat and exploration are fine, but the fun of running around as War demolishing enemies, finding and upgrading weapons, and interacting with the various characters of this bizarre world. Definitely a "just roll with it" game. Have fun!
The best GoW ripoff I've ever played.
God of Zelda is straight gas.
It's hot topic Zelda, but I like both of those things
100% Achievement Review: A review based on my experience completing all the (available) achievements.
Title: Darksiders Warmastered Edition
Summary: Hack n slash adventure game
Personal notes: Fun and edgy hack n slash game. Has some excellent fights, puzzles, and great world design.
I played through the first two Darksiders on the Xbox 360 and decided to give the remastered and new ones a go. I had a blast playing them as a kid on Easy but I was surprised at how much I missed (Armor, Abilities, Collectibles) and how Apocalyptic is a little less forgiving. The game itself is great, but some of the achievements are pretty frustrating. I spent about 3-4 hours on horseback and about 2 trying to level up my weapons fully. I clearly didn't mind completing this but be warned, some of the achievements such as environmental or horseback kills, not to mention the ones below are quite grindy. Overall, this game still holds up to this day, easily worth the 20$ not to mention it goes on sale often.
Time it took to complete: 40hrs
Most difficult achievement(s):
- Dark Rider (Ride for 100 miles)
- BFA (Unlocked EVERYTHING!)
- Battle Hardened (Max out all weapons and unlock all combat moves)
Difficulty rating: 7/10
Overall rating: 8/10
nice
classic hack n slash action, stands the test of time for sure.
I enjoyed this game in a different way than I expected.
I couldn't really remember much about it except it was about the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and it was a fighting game. Expected a bit more mindless button mashing, but to my surprise it was reminiscent of Zelda games in some ways. It was enjoyable finding new gear to unlock and new uses for them which unlocked access to new areas and items.
Combat got a bit repetitive, but the game wasn't long enough for that to be bad, I still enjoyed the combat and animations up until the end.
Overall would recommend
The most annoying part was that the achievement progress did not carry over across playthroughs which made a couple of them more annoying but would have happened much more naturally across the 2 playthroughs I did if it counted.
Cool game :D
Great game <3
Great adventure with iconic designs
REALLY GOOD STORY IN THE GAME
[h3]Too outdated. It's impossible to play in 2024.
I'm going to be brief.
Its good, but its not great. I can recommend it tho, to anyone who likes hack'n'slash style.
I won't count all the pros and cons here, but I will at least mention the best and the worst, based on my opinion.
What I like most on the game: you play as a Horseman of the Apocalypse (thats actually the reason I bought the game) and you unveil simple, yet interesting story.
The worst part: it doesn't fill up expectations of a hack and slash in terms of difficulty. Its simply too easy, be it combat or puzzles.
Abandoned the game a few hours in. Controls were clunky, and the game in general was pretty boring. A ton of areas were just a big empty room with nothing interesting in them, and a few copy and pasted enemies scattered about that weren't particularly fun to fight.
Maybe the game gets fun later on, but I don't really care to stick around and find out.
Great basic hack and slash.
The game is hack and slash, using combos to inflict more danger. As you progress the story, you get new tools so combat is constantly evolving (you need those tools to defeat the boss of the level) and never gets boring.
While the game is open world, the story must progress linearly, and some areas are inaccessible. Once you've cleared a level you can come back, one you get more tools, to access zones previously unavailable, but otherwise it's a fairly linear game.
Also, the game is filled with puzzles to solve. Very often you enter a room and have to figure out what switches activate, what portals, etc., to progress to the next room. It adds to the variety and I really enjoyed most of them, but you can get stuck pretty easy. The game plays a small music when you made a discovery or progress, so there's a feedback to let you know you're doing it right.
The story is good but nothing spectacular. Overall, I enjoyed it, except for one or two clichés here and there. It is one of betrayal, honor and revenge, and the ending literally leaves you wanting more. The bosses you fight are varied and usually demand you to use the weapon/tool you learned during the battle. They are very predictable, and you'll learn their moves pretty quick. As for your character, there's very little room for customization, as both weapons, powers and armour are fixed. This is not a bad thing unless your expecting an RPG-like game.
The sound and graphics are decent enough, but the performance is a bit lacking (I played on an Xbox One S). At some points during a dungeon, a "loading" screen would appear and I had to wait a bit. Nothing too serious though, fortunately it never happened during boss fights. The controllers felt a bit clunky though, some times pressing the jump button would not make my character jump, and fall to its death. The camera has a few issues as well, nothing too serious but there are places when it would move too fast you can't see what's going on.
It took me about 20 hours to finish the game. I enjoyed most of it, When done with it go for Darksiders II.
Update. Took exactly 18 hours to beat the game and thats with getting stuck on puzzles and and backtracking for loot. If I did everything right the first time, this is probably closer to a 14 hour game.
Overall I love the first half of the game. Perfect. The 2nd half gets carried away. Huge difficulty spike.
Classic. This is still one of the best games ever made. I played this many times on console and first time playing it on pc. I got the series during the black friday sale and been having a blast playing through it again. I am starting to think Gensis is probably the best one. Im playing the warmastered version and so far I havent noticed any huge between this and the original. I wouldnt mind another remaster though. I do like the later games combat system more. Not a perfect game but badass start to finish. Still one of my favorite first levels in any game ever. Highly recommend if you like combo action games.
art is amazing, controls are braindead, worst i have ever played tbh
it was so good the experience of classic darksiders gamepley give me nostalgia it was really challenging but the story wise 10/10
واااااااااو
Loved this game back in the day!
I prefer the visual style and voice work of the first one.
Definitely worth getting.
Plays ok on the Steamdeck but the movies don't play so you miss the story.
Поиграв во все части darksiders могу сказать что это самая короткая однако самая зaEбывaющaя часть так как каждые 2-3 двери файт. Боссы не такие сложные как эти файты
Absolute classic and the first game in an amazing series of games. cant go wrong
Found the games because of a video of the second game but i figured id start with the first. Really fun combat and a interesting all be it simple in retrospect story with well developed characters.
DARKSIDERS: WARMASTERED; AN UNDERRATED GEM
Going into Darksiders I had no expectations nor did I know anything about the series. My only real expectation was that it will be dark fantasy with edgy writing, cringe dialogue, but it may have a good gameplay loop. So, upon starting up the game and playing it, I realised how wrong I was with my initial assessment of the game. I fell in love with the world, the characters and the gameplay of the game. Reminded how much I miss the old style of game development where fun came before squeezing money out of the players.
STORY
The game begins with a bit of exposition setting up the world and the three Kingdoms: Kingdom of man, heaven and hell. The only thing keeping from heaven and hell from colliding between one another and letting mankind to grow were the seven seals. Once broken, it’d begin the end war and the Four Horsemen would ride, delivering justice and restoring the balance.
However, something went horribly wrong and War, one of the four horsemen, was summoned for the end war. The forces of heaven and hell were causing havoc in the kingdom of man and it was revealed that the seventh seal was never broken in the first place. The Charred Council, the ones that have the Horsemen on a leash, blamed War for the Kingdom of Man being wiped out and had him serve penance. War, obviously not guilty of the crime he was accused of, promises to the Council to find whoever made this happen. The Council accepted his gamble, but with a little twist, they imbedded a Watcher to War’s person. The Watcher would make sure that War didn’t stray from the path. And so, War sets out on his revenge quest, 100 years after the events that had the Council imprison him.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay loop of Darksiders is very much inspired by Metroidvanian puzzles and a mix of the Greek God of War games and Devil May Cry, which works incredibly well for the game.
The combat is fun and flows extremely well. Each strike from War feels like it has weight to it as he swings sword, Chaoseater. The combos have knock ups, aerial attacks, 360 cleave attacks, parries and more! Add that to the secondary weapons of the scythe and the tremor gauntlet and you have potential for very fun combos. The enemy variety also helps, of which there is a surprising amount of. They’ll keep you on your toes since every enemy has their own little gimmicks to them and falling into the autopilot loop might make see the game over screen real quick. Moving onto difficulty, the game isn’t overly difficult, per se, but it can definitely catch you off guard if you’re not paying attention on the enemy attacks.
The boss fights, while not too difficult, were all for the most part awesome, each having a different gimmick behind them that made the fight that much more entertaining. Favourite boss for me was Silitha. The way she teleports all over the place and does surprise attacks was very fun for me.
The before mentioned puzzles are pretty fun! Most of them involve using the gadgets that you unlock as you progress through the game. From using your grappling hook to thinking with portals™. There is a lot of fun to be had for those that enjoy that kind of thing.
Completion wise, my first run took me roughly 15 hours to complete while collecting all the powers up around the map. You could probably get all of the achievements done in one run if you play on the Apocalyptic difficulty from the get go, but I’d recommend starting on Normal. Just keep in mind, the only four missable achievements are Aerial Predator, Open Air Parking, Who’s Counting? and High Flier. With two runs (one on Normal and one on Apocalyptic) it took me around 37 hours to reach 100% completion. The only two annoying achievements to get are Battle Hardened and Dark Rider, outside of that a very pleasant and fun completion, would recommend.
THE WORLD
The world of the post-apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders is breathtaking in many ways; from how grim everything is or to how serene it may look. From the long-abandoned buildings on the brink of collapse to overgrown industrial areas that have a very vibrant look to them. Dungeons, cathedrals, fortresses, demon dens, spider lairs, deserts and more are one of many different locales you’ll be visiting, each with distinct vibes to them.
The characters in this world are just awesome. They add a lot to this game and make it that much more memorable. There aren’t really any characters that didn’t work for me. Personal favourites would have to be: War, for his stoic and strong personality (and of course the amazing delivery by Liam O’Brian); the Watcher being the snarky side-kick that always needs to add his two cents to every situation (performed by the amazing Mark Hammil); Samael, the demon, who manages to steal the show with each and every single one of his appearances with how the characters carries himself that allows for the character to have a tinge of mystery to him (voiced by Vernon Wells) and last but not least, Azrael, for being the most reasonable member of heaven in this story (Keith Szarabajka).
CONCLUSSION
Darksiders crushed all expectations I had for it. The story, characters, gameplay and the world all made impressed and made me fall in love with the world that Vigil built. It’s got a lot of soul and love put into it and it’s felt throughout the whole game.
My score for Darksiders is a very strong 8/10. Thank you for reading.
I like the game.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time meets God of War in a tale of one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse fighting in the middle of a battle of Heaven vs. Hell.
Note: If you decide to buy this game, you should play through the first cutscene and see if it crashes. If you don’t like to pay for games that crash on every cutscene and have to watch them on YouTube, then you should probably get the original or not buy it at all. It’s the only reason for my “Not Recommended” rating.
I have mixed feelings about this game. On one hand, it’s a beautiful game with a great story. On the other hand, between repetitive gameplay, annoying-to-traverse-multiple-times areas, and cutscene crashes that made me watch over an hour of game footage on YouTube instead of in the game, and I was so annoyed with this game and was glad when it ended.
The Positives:
-The visuals are beautiful: I don’t know if it’s due to the remaster or if the original game looked like this, but man are the set pieces phenomenal. Post-apocalyptic landscapes combining buildings and concrete with giant craters, lava, and varied themes like spider areas and subway/train tunnels. Playing at 4K with high settings was a visual treat.
-The story is engaging: Wow, the story is fun. Heaven vs. Hell with a group keeping the peace and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ready to bring down their wrath if the seals are broken is a cool setup. Only sending one, War (your character), to keep things under control only to get set up and have to find the perpetrator (which leads to the rest of the game) is a cool premise. Combined with the visuals, the game is very cinematic. Specifically, the ending cutscene is fantastic.
-The boss battles are interesting: I liked the larger fights, with many of them having a reason behind them and some sort of interesting game mechanic to figure out to complete it. It follows the Zelda formula of dodge, exploit a weakness, hit the boss three times, and the battle ends. This ensures that boss battles last a decent amount of time and don’t get too drawn out.
-The various weapons and items were fun: I liked how I had a gun for range, a sword for melee, a scythe for more rounded attacks, and an array of items to help with certain battles or obstacles.
-Exploring the environments was fun the first time: I felt like the game rewarded exploration with a combination of beautiful visuals and the little rewards sprinkled throughout without being too, too much. I managed to collect almost all of the collectibles through natural exploration without needing a guide or having to comb the areas too much.
The Negatives:
-As I mentioned, the crashing at every cutscene was a show-stopper (literally). I had to keep a YouTube video of all the cutscenes at the ready the whole game and button-press out of them in the game or it would inevitably crash over and over again. Strangely, the rest of the game was fine (and even the non-cancelable light cutscenes were fine). But it really ruins the game when you play and then have to stop and play a video on your laptop instead of it seamlessly playing in the game.
-There’s a lot of backtracking. I feel like I traversed the whole game’s areas (and once you kill everyone, there are only a handful of respawning enemies at each point) multiple times either looking for things or having to go back and use new items I gathered to get a chest that was previously inaccessible. This wouldn’t have been a big deal except that you can only use the horse intermittently, the fast-travel tunnels require you to walk through a 2-minute tunnel scene every time, and the game’s biggest puzzles are environmental, requiring you to remember how you traversed the area the first time when you go through it again or you’ll effectively have to solve the puzzle again (minus any ones that require you to manipulate the environment in some way). I got all but two armor pieces, so I had to go through the whole game with a fine-toothed comb to get the other two, and it took forever. I probably didn’t even need it (I beat the boss on Normal with well over half my health left), and I spent hours wandering around the world to get a couple of pieces because of how long it takes to get around.
-The gameplay—even with all the weapons and moves you have—is really just the same strategy over and over: dodge when the enemy signals an attack, turn around and run back, and then attack three times. Again and again and again for every enemy throughout the entire game, including the big fighting areas and even some mini-bosses and bosses. It is the definition of a mindless hack-and-slash game. Ironically, without healing outside of the chests you get every once in a while and the occasional healing-upon-death enemies, I’d still get hit a lot because I got more and more impatient and just wanted the enemies dead so I could get to the next thing. Some of the late-game enemies take an eternity to kill (up to 2-3 minutes per enemy sometimes), making it worse.
-The upgrades were hit-and-miss. First of all, I played the whole game and beat every enemy along with hundreds and hundreds of the respawning enemies and never came close to maxing out any of my weapons. I think there’s a new game +, but I like the idea of being close to max at the end of a single playthrough. I wasn’t even close to upgrading all of my abilities and barely used any of the wrath abilities until the end (shame because the stoneskin makes you borderline invincible even on the final boss—I should’ve used it more throughout).
-The controls weren’t optimized. I had to go reconfigure the controls because summoning the horse and even a couple of special moves weren’t useable with the default controls I had. It might be something with Steam because the default controls it gave me were for a Steam controller, but a game designed for controller should have all of the actions assigned to buttons by default, only requiring you to change it if you have a different preference of which button does which action. To have to go figure out how to add an action to a button is weird for a game designed with the controller in mind.
-The navigation is agonizing sometimes. Not difficult; just time-consuming and frustrating. For example, you can’t see where your objective is on the world map (just a compass symbol on the local map), so you don’t know where to fast travel to get to the closest place, which is what made me have to walk across the whole game once or twice because I forgot or didn’t know which area I was supposed to be going to. The environment was meant to require traversing, but it got excessive like if you missed a chest, you’d have to remember how to get through. Most games open up a shortcut after you complete each terrain-based puzzle, but this didn’t and so it was a nightmare remembering how to get through the spider and train areas (ironically, those weren’t the places I had to go back to for armor pieces).
All in all, I can’t recommend this game if it’s unplayable for a large percentage of gamers because of those cutscene crashes, but if it works for you then you should enjoy it. You could also try the original version (I didn’t test it, but I assume it can’t be as bad as this was with the crashes). My recommendation is to play on Normal and never backtrack (i.e., don’t go back for missed non-essential items and don’t forget where to go) to not run out of patience with this game. The story and visuals make it worth experiencing, but there was so much that annoyed me that I feel like didn’t have to be the case if the game would’ve had some quality-of-life features that were present in its contemporaries. I recommend the game without backtracking or grinding (it will overstay its welcome that way), but I don’t recommend this version of it if you will hate dealing with the cutscene crashes.
This game was a breath of fresh air when it ame out... a dark gritty game done in the zelda esque style. The story is just as good as its combat system... which is very good. The fact that took the idea of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse and flipped it on its head was really well done. And the three weapons that you can switch at any time even in the middle of a combo is really well done. An the three weapons feel completely different from each other. A once you get maxxed out your character does feel very poweful and can easily fell any foes in previous areas as you back track. Their are many areas to go through and each has there own enemies that are completely different from each other. All in all this game should be in any gamers library new or old.
yours truly god gamer
There is a lot to comment on but I've finished this ~2,5 years ago and what stuck with me the most is that in terms of combat fluidity it's doesn't go as far as hack n slash genre goes but pretty fun nonetheless and can seriously benefit from an ambitious remake.
Very Nice and Underrated Game, puzzles, boss fights, nice combats.
Recommended (with caveats)
It's the first time playing DarkSiders, and while it wasn't groundbreaking, it offered a straightforward experience for those new to hack-and-slash games. Here's my breakdown:
The Good:
This game is perfect for players unfamiliar with the genre. Its simplicity in combat and mechanics makes it accessible without overwhelming complexity.
Satisfying (if repetitive) Combat: There’s a certain charm in one-button mashing for casual gameplay sessions.
Atmosphere: The Heaven vs. Hell setting, while not original, had a decent aesthetic appeal.
Length: The game doesn’t overstay its welcome (though the second half felt like a drag).
The Meh:
~ Story: A basic Heaven-and-Hell revenge plot. Not great, but not terrible either. Think "God of War-lite with sequel bait."
~ Protagonist: War felt like a bulkier, slower Kratos. His lumbering movement made traversal feel like a chore.
The Bad:
Clunky Controls: Canceling moves to dodge? Forget it. You’re locked into animations, which can feel frustrating in tight situations.
Camera Mechanics: Getting stuck in a corner with the camera blocked by walls will test your patience.
Combat Depth: The lack of cross-weapon combos or movement variations makes the gameplay stale after a while.
The game really loses steam after the halfway point, becoming tedious rather than engaging.
The Ultra Bad ( on SteamDeck ):
⚠️ If you're playing on SteamDeck, brace yourself: Cutscenes don’t play by default.
This drove me up the wall, requiring me to manually fix it using a guide in the community. While the fix worked, SteamDeck's regular updates repeatedly broke the patch, forcing me to redo it, but didn't work in the end after several retries. It's an infuriating experience that seriously undercuts the enjoyment of playing on these platforms.
Final Thoughts:
Darksiders isn’t the most polished or innovative game, but it’s decent enough for hack-and-slash newcomers. Just don’t expect depth or replayability—one playthrough on Easy was enough for me.
Score: 6.5/10
Would I replay? Probably not. Would I recommend? Yes, for beginners who want a casual hack-and-slash experience.
Good
Guuud gaaaaame! Runs well and doesn't have any glaring issues. Some mechanics or controls can be a bit clunky at first, but that shows the age of this game. If you buy this game, you will get the Warmastered edition and the original if you prefer it. I recommend the Warmastered edition as it's a better experience.
The game is a fun 7/10.
Darksiders is a reminder of what games used to be a single player experience with no dlc or micro transaction hell and such a solid feel to its game play its fun in its purest form the puzzles were OK at best to how the f.u.c.k was i suppose to know that. (looking at you dark tower)
If your looking for a good time just to have some fun after work/school or in the weekend buy it
Works great with mouse and keyboard
its hard for a game to hold up after it had been played once already, but after a second playthrough, i respect this game more.
this is the most nerd-ridden fun game around its time, with devs inspired by a bunch of things, talented to create their own in-universe where they can make their badasses dudes in cool armor.
not without its flaws, that final act drags like a slug in salt, its painfully slow and it stretches itself to a halt, hell i understand when a metroidvania does that weird final backtracking thingie but i hated it when metroid prime did it, and i hate it just as much here, for all intents and purposes its one hell of a padding section, combat gets a bit dull, the more time you spend with it, the more you realize its shalowness for the sake of being weighty, i mean hell, the special attack has more invincible frames than your fucking dodge button ??, knowing that you buy a bunch of energy refils and save it for the more bullshit attack bosses.
but even without that, the game carries itself with an artstyle that is simply witchcraft, they made some fine things with the polycount and texturing, its crazy good and holds up incredibly well, one of the best 7\10 games ive played. won't finish it a third time tho
This is a fun single player game I highly recommend it.
Skip the long long puzzle part, and this game will become a masterpiece of all the ACT games
I was just a kid when this game came out I have so many found memories of this game with my kid brothers.
