it's the nice square turn based combat. no iffy flanking movements.
I picked this up during the sale at 70 % off and for that price, i don't think anyone will have an issue with the value for money and i recommend picking it up.
The full price is already low and definitely fair, although there are obscenely cheap (or even free) great games out there that this has to compete with, so whether or not it is worth it depends on your preferences and your disposable income.
If you want a fun little game that is quick to grasp (and reasonably sized to complete/100% it) this might be right for you, if you want factions or even custom empires with VASTLY different mechanics, a deep story-driven campaign or an intricate research tree it's not.
I first purchased this game on iOS, and quickly fell in love with it!
I agree with Sgt. Steiner's review, with only one thing to add. I cannot seem to create an online account. This is frustrating, as I completed all different forces (English, French and Vikings) with all difficulty levels. The only game I have done so, so far. Having said that, I honestly can not say that there is any real challenge with any of the game's increasing difficulty levels. Initially, I remember that I would try to access as many different soldier types, during my initial stages of play, when I first purchased it, before I purchased the Black Edition. However, it seemed to me that the best method to win the game, during all campaigns was to focus on creating a blacksmith, followed by creating the entry-level footsoldier of each nation. Then proceed to upgrade the blacksmith, until it is fully upgraded, whilst creating the entry-level footsoldier, every turn. After fully upgrading the blacksmith, depending on the campaign/scenario, go build various other buildings, as deemed fit. If you need more income, create a marketplace. If you need better armour, create the war school, upgrading the better armour upgrade. Keep upgrading, as you deem fit, You will then see the necessity to create some archers or other military personnel... as you deem fit.
Some soldier types require prerequisites. A Viking warlord will necessitate the blacksmith and war school. The French equivalent, "Templar" will necessitate a church to be built first. Possibly even an upgraded church, being the cathedral may be required... I do not recall 100%, unfortunately.
My only gripe with the game would be the lack of online player access. Otherwise, a fantastic game, and highly recommended!!!
If anyone can help with how to create an online player account, feel free to drop a line explaining how to do so below, please.

This used to be an android game. I play this on my small windows device when i am on the train. It's clearly a tablet game. Don't think i would play this on my pc though. The AI isn't a big challenge (at least if you know how to use combined arms with archers and knights). A good fun.
A good light wargame. Easy to learn, with a boardgame feel (kind of like the old 3M game Feudal if it had unit purchasing). Buy it when it's on sale -- definitely worth the two and a half bucks.
The style of the game is what attracted me and although the art and music are pretty decent the gameplay is just very simplistic. Every level just has a different layout but plays out the same way, you take the exact same steps every level to complete it. It seriously lacks any strategy and diversity since all factions are 95% the same. The multiplayer is very vague and unplayable. I do not recommend this game but if the developer were to bring out a new game and spent more time on the gameplay and forgot about the multiplayer it could be worth checking out.
A bland game, not recommended for experienced TBS players. As comparison, I would say it is far less complex than Heroes of Might and Magic (the one from 1995). Screen shots are relevant, but don't expect anything beyond them.
Got it for 5.6E, but it feels like it should be less, so I decided on a refund during the first map. Perhaps with some RPG elements would be worth it.
On the positive side, it is easy to understand, interface is acceptable and for the 30 minutes I played it runned smoothly without any problems. If you are new to turn based strategy, it may be a good start.
The description of the game is misleading.
The "campaign" is a series of standalone scenes. The game is more of a puzzle than turn-based strategy. Nothing in the game is persistent from map to map.
Its a fun little game and I have enjoyed playing it.
