DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!
It has unfortunately gone through the same fate as a game back in 2014 called StarForge, all of the photos you see on the steam store don't exist in the game as anything that might have been, has been stripped, and is now abandoned. The character model you see on the steam store here? yeah that not a thing, the pistol and assault rifle you see? yeah they aren't anywhere to be found... you do get a shotgun though, and on average 10 shells in total but that's not doing anything to a giant worm that sits hiding behind a stupid silo in the distance... oh and YOU CANT EVEN RIDE THE DAMN MECH!!!
Trailer misleading the game is Not what it looks like in steam trailer at all!!!
1. you have a robot not a player
2. eagle is flying sideways like a crab...
3. first gun you get and the only loot you find next to you when spawn doesn't shoot straight...
4. the only enemies are a snake who doesn't attack a huge robot pipe worm doesn't attack and a big ork on the top of the ugly stretched walls mountain at their tiny map who you cant reach but also will probably not attack you
4. the map is tiny with stretched mountains (crazy ugly) so you cant escape and fall probably.
5. you will die very fast from thirst since there is no Loot at all to find in the game expect a crate wen you start with a shotgun that fires backwards.
What a JOKE this should be removed from steam i will report the game and advise all of you to STAY AWAY!!!!!
Not Recommended, its a packaged asset flip with hardly any original work put into it. Bought this game a year ago, never experienced any improvements or work done. No objectives, nothing to do other than run around until you die from heat or thirst.
Edit: I feel that my review is too short. I wish to point out my problems with this game. The game itself is a direct clone of a template from UE4 marketplace. Other than adding the information in, nothing else was really changed. No options menu (which seems to have existed at one point if the patch notes are true, shame the devs abandoned the game), no saves (or at least was not working for me), I wont even try the multiplayer if the singleplayer is as broke as it is. And to finish it off, the last patch notes are from half a year ago, saying "Patch notes about the new update will be discussed soon!" This isnt a game in its current state.
There is no game here. What is offerend doesnt remotely resemble the video or the screenshots, aside from the AI robot. DO NOT BUY. Maybe one day if it is developed into a game.
The only reason I have 7.3 hours of Wrath of Anna logged (woefully making it impossible to try to get a refund..) is that I left the game alt-tabbed after it failed to boot up an online match (but seemed to freeze and never loaded the main menu again) and I left to go do something else, forgetting about it.
Look closely at the footage in this game's trailer. No interaction is shown with any enemy, object, or NPCs, instead the player character is mindlessly meandering through the environments, occassionally ducking and staring at something in the distance. You will get all of this and nothing more if you choose to spend your money on Wrath of Anna. Wrath of Anna is perhaps best summarized by one of the screenshots the dev has selected in the preview images, a stairway to nowhere, shrouded in fog. This game has a cool setting but is completely devoid of anything of substance.
I was skeptical of this game's detractors in the review section, hoping that I would find some enjoyment from its awesome-looking setting and ambience of a funky, futuristic, Steam Punk and Lost Planet esque environment, but I was also weary of all of the reviews stating that the game was broken, empty, or unplayable.
Wrath of Anna is broken, empty, and unplayable.
Upon booting up the game I found my character to be strolling around with his arms held outward in the form of holding a gun, though lacking any armament in his hands.

This made for an immediately comical but off-putting vibe which was only amplified in the brief amount of time I have spent with the game. I eventually wandered to a doorway which contained a storage box and a couple of guns on the ground next to it. I thought "Sweet! Finally, a gun I can use!" (against who, I had yet to find out as I hadn't seen any enemies or creatures for the preceding 5 minutes of wandering..) I then clicked the LMB to no avail (since the guns I picked up had no ammo, nor any ammo nearby..) as an AI character waltzed up to me (the same character model as myself albeit with a red palette for his hairdo..) This AI adversary shot at me a few times then locked into place as the skyline and surrounding 50 feet ahead of me all went black and the game began displaying the "hit lines" of his shots, also frozen in place.

I then apparently bled out from being attacked by this enemy, reloaded the game in a drab area with cool-looking but static, unmoving airships above and figured I would see if the online mode were any more functional. (Spoilers: It's not. ... Then again I wouldn't know as it never loaded.)
This game is one of the most broken I have played on Steam, and while its concept and setting seem appealing, it's simply an unplayable bore. I doubt anyone is present online (though it never loaded so who knows..) and the single player is an incredibly empty, underdeveloped scattering of assets. You see a range of giant gears, sandworms in the distance, and trees strewn about but when it comes to any player interaction with these the game provides no tutorial whatsoever. The Mech looks dope af in the preview images for the game, but then when I walk up to one and hit E or spacebar to interact with it, all that happens is a notification that I can't interact with the item and then another shining example of the refinement the game has accomplished appears via a coding string of "True" appearing in the upper-left of the screen.
I don't have much to say about Wrath of Anna because I don't feel like I was able to even experience any of it. If the creators intended for this to be a full product, it's insulting that the "game" (I use that term incredibly loosely) is at an astounding price of 19.99 in its current state. This thing is in shambles. It has an enticing environment and the animations (when there are animations..) don't seem terrible, but this is little more than a husk of what might have been a cool experience. I would not recommend this game to anyone in its current broken state.
I bought this on sale reading some what seemed to be decent reviews but this game is an unplayable alpha state. There is one default character stance, where they look like they are holding an invisible AR ... even if you have a hammer equipped. Like man , this game is pretty bad. I guess I'll check back in 3 years and see if the dev made progress or just said F it and moved on in life.
Right... This game needs work, I'll admit that; but I've been playing for a little bit and I love the challenege. It's definately not your normal survival game, it's got some grit to it. I struggle with it but I wanna make it work which makes me wanna play it more. It's no cake-walk but I kinda like it's grittyness (if that's a word).
Let's hope they keep up the development, curious to see what comes next!
I've tried this game at a friends house and I bought it while it's on sale. It's got a long way to go, but so have many other games. I don't really get time to play on my computer all that much, but I do enjoy a game that's quite hard, and to be honest, I rarely use steam. I'm that 'origin guy'.
This game took me like 10 minutes to get used to it but I like the idea of it, reminds me of rust and DayZ mixed in together. It's a little annoying at the start but i'm sure that'll change based on the reviews. I'm installing it now and i'll give an updated review when i get more playtime on it.
You know what... it's not as bad as I thought it would be, being an early access. I will say it's incredibly hard and I, like a few others, would like to see some changes implemented. I've had a lot of bad experiences with early access games but it was on sale and I wanted to give it a go, and to be honest, it's not too bad as a game that's fairly new to the game world.
There's some bugs but it's on sale right now and it didn't cost and arm and a leg to buy, so i'm not mad at it. I hope they continue to do work on this game because it has promise, we'll just have to see if they develops into something, or is left with someone to be desired.
The game is going in the right direction. I just hope they keep up with it so it doesn't end up stuck at the bottom of a pile like some other games.
I like the conecpt and enjoy the difficulty of the survival aspect. Cant wait to see what else they come out with!
First i'd like to say, i'm not usually one to write reviews for games but I really think the developers/game isn't getting the correct justice it deserves.
Yes the game has it's bugs, but this is also true for a lot of 'early access' games, and at least they're heading forward and not pretending that it's something that it's simply not.
I've been playing now for about 20 minutes and i'm just starting to understand the mechanics, and yes they need work, but at least you've not forked out $40 for an unfinished game, you've bought a game that you've acknowledged is still in an alpha to beta phase and being worked on. You've not purchased a fully finished game. And let's be honest, there's plenty of games that are held by massive corporate companies (not mentioning any names *cough* Ubisoft) but they're terrible, even though they're 'finished'.
Therefore I'm going to give this game the benefit of the doubt and give the developers a recommendation, giving them time to continue work on the game, and show that this game really has a lot of potential.
After this game has been in early access for almost a year now, I expected something more substantial. The game is more of a tech demo at best, and not a very good one. (see tl;dr below if you don't want to read this entire thing)
There's no options menu, so everything has to be set via ini files. For people unfamiliar with Unreal Engine games, this will be all but impossible, as there appears to be no guides anywhere in the WoA forum explaining how to do this. So you're basically stuck with the default settings, including motion blur, I still don't understand why anyone thinks motion blur looks good in any game. No control over volume, no way to rebind keys unless, again, you're familiar with UE games and know the console commands to do new keybinds. This is a massive oversight by the developers, in my opinion one of the first features that should be included in any public release of a game, EA or otherwise. Players should have easy access to, at the very least, the ability to rebind keys, change resolution and window mode, and change the game's volume via a menu.
Aside from those obvious issues, there's lots more when you actually get into the game. The default PoV is over the shoulder, which makes interacting with anything incredibly difficult because the targetting reticle is a tiny white dot that's often obscured by the overly bright bloom effect, so you have to wiggle your mouse around until you see the item on the ground highlighted. You can change your PoV to first person, but then you have to deal with the fact it looks like your arms are coming out of the side of your head, and they completely obscure your vision if you look down towards items on the ground. Which leads me to the next fundamental flaw, mouse sensitivity (again, something you are not easily able to change).
The vertical and horizontal mouse sensitivities are either based on screen aspect ratio, or they're independently set at different speeds, because in order to look up and down you need to move your mouse about twice as far as you do to look the same distance left or right.
The landscape was dull and uninteresting, with many of the same assets reused over and over, and I realise in my extremely limited play time, I haven't seen the entire world, but first impressions count for a lot. I would go from burning up to freezing cold, back to burning up in a matter of seconds just walking a few feet. My thirst stat seemed to drain so rapidly, the 6 bottles of water I found lying on the ground by my feet when I entered the game would have lasted me about 5 minutes longer then I was prepared to play this game, and I saw no way of getting water apart from finding bottles of it on the ground. I couldn't drink from the nearby pool of water.
Now let's talk about combat. It's awful. There's absolutely no feedback for hitting an enemy, or for an enemy hitting you. The enemies have a health indicator above their heads, in the form of a large number, so when you're close enough you can see that number go down, but when the enemy attacks you, there's absolutely zero indication of it apart from your health bar in the bottom left corner going down. There also appears to be no rhyme or reason to who will attack you. The first thing I attacked just stood there and took it without any reaction at all, then as I approached a second NPC of the same type (and I mean the exact same type, a human that looked exactly the same as the first one I killed, which by the way looked exactly the same as me), it started moving towards me and then I died. I didn't see any firing animation from the enemy, didn't get any visual feedback I was taking damage, I just died. The gunplay is horrible, the default ginfire sound asset are terrible, overall the combat is just bad, it reminds me a lot of the original Doom, except the original Doom did it better.
tl;dr:
It's clear this is a very early alpha, and has a really long way to go. I can't say I can see great potential in it, because it's so early in it's development. Way more issues than positives right now.
Pros:
- Honestly, I can't really think of any in it's current state, apart from maybe the Summer Sale price...?
Cons:
- It's not nice to look at.
- Lack of basic features, like an options menu.
- Terrible combat system
I didn't get around to playing with the crafting or base building system, so can't really comment on them.
As it stands, I seriously can't recommend this game unless you're a super diehard fan of survival/building games and want to be there at the beginning for bragging rights.
I played online with these devs a while back when this game was just starting- they've come a long way since then. Most of the poor reviews here look to be players that havent got a chance to play the new survival mode that just got released.
Still quite a few bugs to work out, but the third person / Tom Clancy style cameras (and you can still switch back to first person) are pretty smooth. The animations of the character are quite detailed as well.
Also..I'm loving the new area of Drumgore (the other planet in this game, Anna's planet) that was added in the past couple days with the update. There are some really remote areas of the world that are going to take me a while to get to.
Will continue to test out the new updates.
pros:
basebuilding, open world, steampunk weaponry, GFX, soundtrack, overall themes, trading cards
cons:
some areas of the open world need more optimisation, server issues at times, multiplayer bugs
I plan to keep testing out the survival mode.
Been following these devs for a while, they are dedicated. Still some bugs to work out, but overall this is an open world base building game with a lot of potential.
The environments are impressive, just needs a bit more optimisation.
Interesting themes. Still a bit rough around the edges - but has a lot of potential. Basically if you want to experience this game properly at the moment, you should get a few friends together and use PLAY ONLINE from the main menu. This will put you in a forest map where you can each start building your own bases using 'B' as default bind. Then you defend / battle (usually for an item). First team to 16 rounds wins.
PROS:
*Base building
*Great original artwork (Steampunk weapons / mech bot)
*Online capabilities / multiplayer
*Open world / sandbox environments
*Dedicated servers provided by developers
*Free soundtrack (very unique..i like it)
CONS:
*Certain areas FPS drop
*Needs proper bind options (have to use console for now)
*Grenade glitches / animations
*Water glitches
*Other gameplay bugs
This game is early access so, these things should be fixed by the time the campaign mode is out.
Unique combination of base building and combat. Looking forward to the full crafting update. A few of the maps still need a bit of optimization.
Some of the craziest environments ever. Very unique. Needs some additional debugging (like most early access games).
Love the huge maps & can't wait for the mech gameplay. There's a still a few minor glitches with online play, but exploring in this game is awesome (and seemingly endless).
Could be the next big open world game on Steam. Looking forward to more Steampunk elements & the first set of campaign missions.
