Holopoint is a skill based game where progression is based on player skill and training rather than unlocks. Like many arcade style games, personal progress and a high score is the goal. There are two game-modes: Original, and Time-Trial.
The original game mode offers sixty waves to progress through. Targets are introduced as groups of waves are completed. This mode quickly becomes difficult and requires an active mindset. Holopoint is designed so that only a few determined archers will reach the last wave.
Time-Trial allows player to define a subset of targets and a play-time, during which points are awarded for targets hit, and taken away when a target hits back. This game mode offers a more casual and controlled experience, and is used by many as a timed workout.
WARNING: THIS GAME GETS INTENSE. REMEMBER TO BREATH AND TAKE BREAKS.

Simple, but great fun, especially with wireless.
This is the game that got me hooked on VR! An incredible workout that truly feels like Ninja Training! Reminds me of the simulation sequence in hunger games
This game is fantastic for working out.
Blast some music & start some time trials.
Will improve dexterity, reaction times, balance and coordination.
Felt extremely unrealistic, coming from someone who owns a bow. Arrow physics are off, the grip on the bow feels horrible, like you're gripping the limb. In contrast, The Lab felt very realistic, and the two are so far apart I'd take any reviews comparing the two and saying they're the same in realism with a massive dose of salt.
That being said, the game really gets you moving, and it's pretty cheap. If you're just looking for that then go ahead and get it, if you're looking for realism or are familiar with archery pass on this one.
I like it BUT it needs a 180 degree game mode. Unfortunately, the only option is to play with enemies a full 360 around you, so expect to get tangled in your cord and get wonky sensors unless you have large play area and 3 sensors. It's fun, but as soon as I have to start spinning all the way around it's just not practical and I'd rather play something else.
If they add a 180 degree play mode, I'll happily play some more. I have a decent amount of room to move around for most games, but having to turn your body all the way around is always going to be a problem without a 3rd sensor, so I'm shelving it and moving on to other games that work fine with 2 sensors.
You do need a roomscale setup to play this game. You will be ducking, dodging, side stepping all while aiming a bow with enemies coming at you from 360. You also will need to be in good shape. I played two sessions of 10 minutes each because I just had to tap out, the game is very physically demanding for someone like me who is not in good shape. I was sweating on my HMD and just had to quit. Not only that, but I was tripping over my wired headset. If you have a wireless headset, then this game is perfect. If you don't, you'll have to setup your wires or just be very cognizant of this problem.
I had a lot of fun. This is like a shooting gallery / obstacle course. There is no story or beating the game. It's about challenging yourself (and if you're good at the game, challenging others). Shooting fast, accurately, and moving quickly. This game is really a workout. If you want fun in your cardio workout, this is it. I have no idea how some players scored so high that are on the leaderboards, but my hat is off to them.
There's basically two modes. One is a wave mode that saves every 5 waves I believe. Meaning, you can start from wave 1. And if you make it to wave 5 you can start from there instead of wave 1. I was only able to get to wave 6 on normal difficulty (level 4 difficulty - difficulty ranges from 1 to 8). There is also a timed mode where you can choose the enemies and go for the highest score. When I chose the Orange men who throw shuriken at you, I basically got hit over and over again even though I was firing as fast as I could. They were excellent in invading. So many times I just just inches away from where they were moving. The other two enemies were blue boxes that eventually turn orange and explode a projectile towards you if you don't shoot them fast. Even when you shoot and hit them, they explode and shoot a projectile towards you, so you have to know to evade after you hit the target. There's also these blue men that walk towards you. There's probably more enemy types, but I didn't get very far in the waves.
I don't think I have ever played a game that is more fun and challenging that is also this much of a workout. I know I could have tuned down the difficulty level, but I guess I just have too much pride. Anyways, my only real criticisms are that it felt like at times it was harder than it had to be to get out an arrow and put it on your bow to rapid fire. I eventually got used to it though. My other legitimate criticism is the music. There needs to be an option where I can play my own. Other than that, I strongly recommend this game. One of the best VR games out there.
Rate 8/10
I'm middle aged and overweight. I find repetitive exercise mind numbingly boring. I've lost 11 pounds since Christmas playing this game. It's addictive. I love it. The only reason I am typing up this review is because I'm too tired to stand up and play more.
Holopoint is a fast archery combat game which demands a lot physical movement, precision and quick re-orientation work of its players. Playing this right causes solid sweating after few minutes. The learning curve is quiet good and the fun playing it is going to increase with it.
Persanally this is one of my favorite VR games now. It has not much content but the thing it does are mostly right. It has high replay value if you see it like me as a game for workout.
The most impressiv thing which did this game for me was to break my „gamepad-lethargy“, how i call it now. Decades of playing just with keyboard & mouse or with a gamepad teached me to press a button or stick to move around and avoid to be hit by bullets. In VR games my reaction time was sooo sloooow and in many situation i just stood dump around and got hit and was frustrated. I could have moved a step right or left but somehow it didnt work. And then in Holopoint there was the moment then I jumped, yes JUMPED, to avoid a projectile. And now I constantly move around - using the little room I have in VR to it‘s full extend – to get the best angle to shoot or get to the savest spot in the room. I crouch, twist or bend my body to avoid projectiles. No other VR game demand this much movement from its players than Holopoint. The constant necessary flow of movement, re-orientation, aiming and shooting is exhilarating and chilling in the same time.
Sure there are a few downsides in this game. Biggest is the poor bow mechanic compared with games like QuiVR. In QuiVR shooting with the bow fast feels natural and it is possible to headshot enemies over large distances. Using the bow in Holopoint feels awkward in the first place but gets better after a short time. My advice for people who come from QuiVR: look in the option menu and try around different settings, this helped me to get better results. The main reason for the awkward feeling is that the grip is too much below the center of the bow. It feels like you dont hold the grip but the bow arm below it. I dont know why the developer did this. They might had a reason and in time i got used to it. Now 95% shots are hits. There are also other things which could be adressed with little effort and would make the game even better. I hope the developer is going to put more work in this jewel to create a true tressure :)
(Please excuse grammar failure and misspells. English is not my mother language.)
A fantastic VR title that sets itself apart from the rest
- Very accurate bow and arrow physics ( very similar to that of "The Lab" )
- Easier to run than most VR titles
- Plenty of replayability
- A solid choice if you want to work up a sweat while playing
and since the game music can be turned off, holopoint is great with a bit of your own prefered music
Please rate if this was helpful :)
This is now my exercise routine. It's a simple game, where you shoot box targets with a longbow and dodge the counter attack spike sent by most cubes at your vector. I find myself often bending backward, a la Neo, working my core pretty well. Honestly, in later waves you're heart rate is really moving and you may find yourself fighting to remain agile and focused. It's the most fun I've ever had "working out"... outside of the bedroom, anyway. It also looks quite impressive to your audience when you dodge and weave in a rotating dance of arrow slinging.
Honestly, as much as Holopoint is a lot of fun and a really solid way to get in shape, I can't recommend it because the developer does such a bad job supporting it. He seems to patch in two bugs for every bug he fixes, and recently has all but abandoned development for Holopoint (but not before doubling the price).
The second half of the game is too difficult to reach and has broken aiming, but with total silence from the dev for three months we can probably assume he's cut and run.
Pretty disappointed so far. The bow handling feels terrible compared to games like QuiVR and of course The Lab's Longbow.
Even when using the "two-handed" setting (and why isn't that the default?) it still feels awful. The motion is delayed and the endpoints don't align with the controllers properly.
The haptic feedback is all wrong, too. Again look at Longbow because how they do it makes sense. There should be vibration when you're pulling / slacking the string, but when you're holding it steady there shouldn't be vibration, obviously. This is another small thing that contributes to how "off" the whole handling feels.
Other than that, I like the shoot / dodge concept.
The humanoid enemies drop from the first floor in a very clunky animation.
The game just isn't polished, from the basic handling, to the menus, etc etc.
More than worth the $14.99! This is my favorite, and probably most played VR game thus far. This is the beginning of VR fitness gaming!
There are some tame waves but things can get pretty intense. This is a whole body interactive experience and not gonna be easy for the sedentary. But could be a gateway to become more active.
A warning though, if you are not adept at keeping conscious of the cable to the headset in other games, or want to immerse fully enough to not have to worry about it, you are going to want to find a method to secure it out of the way.

Absolutely recommded for this price!
Holopoint is an interactive Bow-Simulator which can be best described as the most real VR work out on the market.
The style is between Legolas and Matrix. You shoot with arrows on blue boxes that unfortunately shoot back which requires you to step aside or move your head aside in order not to get shot. Later you will fight again holographic moving enemies.
It is very difficult and to be honest in the beginning discouraging. Just try at bit more often. Do not fell the temptation to immediately refund the game.
Make sure to play in the morning or at least when you feel yourself fit enough. It is not the sunday hang-over game or the after-work tired lazy gaming experience.
Bringing PC gaming and sports together. That's what it is.
Highly recommended for the fitter gamers out there or those that want to be fit again after year of lazy seated gaming. Like me. hahah...

The pure physicality of jumping back in reaction to a samurai that got too close, killing him, tripping on the vive tether, falling on my back, hitting a target with an arrow upside down, jumping up to dodge its death volley and regaining my composure to continue to dodge, dip, dive, duck, and dodge makes this one of the most unique gaming experiences I've ever had.
This game is super dope.
Excellent game that could do with a couple of tweaks. I think depending on your room size and how good you are at cable management (you know what I mean) this could be improved with the addition of a few "options".
If you could choose whether the "bad guys" hit back at all, that would change the pace, and allow you to enjoy the game a little more if you dont want that work out.
A few other ideas could easily make it more enduring, like different shapes, enemies, etc.
The theme of the room is very Matrix, and that could be exploited, plus perhaps a room change or two, maybe user selected.
I like this game a lot, recommend it, but dont play it if I dont want to make the headband in my vive sweat, which is a shame as I would play it a lot more if I didnt HAVE to workout to play.
Space pirate trainer seems to suffer the same with pacing I find. Easy for ages then suddenly stupidly difficult. Makes me think the developers get bored of working out how to ramp up the difficulty slowly, and do enough to satisfy that initial demand and demo use.
This is not just the greatest workout GAME ever, Its the greatest WORKOUT ever...PERIOD!
10 Minutes in and I was sweating like a pig! Holopoint is simply amazing!
PROS:
Great way to exercise!
Tons of fun!
high amount of immersion!
Tracking is spot-on!
Brilliantly designed!
Visually apealing!
CONS:
You don't want to stop because of how fun it is!
Whatever workout rutine you are currently doing, quit it and buy Holopoint...NOW! You will never enjoy working out as much as you will playing Holopoint!
Oh my jesus. Do your self a favor and buy this game, ESPECIALLY if you want a good workout. I am sitting on my knees out of breath dripping sweat as I type this. Such an immersive and incredible wave based shooter. Just call me Katniss.
One of the first VR games I played on the Vive and oh my what a game.
I shot a box, the box shot me back. A few shouts of "I'm mufukin Legolas' later and I'm breathing hard, sweating and thoroughly entertained. Scores of enemies lay shattered at my feet. Arrows embedded in the walls, the ceiling and floor.
My wife thought I looked dumb shooting invisible arrows straight up at the ceiling while kneeling and swearing. I didn't. I felt like I looked awesome. You will be ducking, kneeling, spinning, nocking, shooting, nocking, shooting until you fall over.
Oh ya I did get the headset chord caught around my foot so watch out for that. Also there was bullet time when bullets and things get a little too close to your face (which is awesome)
This game, it's awesome.
I don't think I've ever written a review for a game before now.
However.
This game is that good, I feel like it would be a disapoint not to write a game review.
-It's the simplest games that are sometimes the best games. The whole mechanic is based around firing arrows at boxes while dodging shots fired at you, with every level becoming more challenging. More boxes. More shots fired at you. Closer boxes. Different enemies. Boss levels! It doesn't seem like there's much to the game play...but that's all you need for an intense 15-30 minute game.
-It is a work out. My thighs are killing me, my arms are tired, my core has been worked. I told a friend I felt like I was doing standing up sit ups. My waste has been bent forward and backward more times than I care to count in a ten minute game span.
-Videos do not do this game justice. Not...one...bit. If there was a game that needed a demo, it's this one. I almost quit in the first five mintues because I didn't even think the game was polished enough to justify keep playing. I'm glad I didn't quit.
-The samurai that attack you. They look real. Watch out for them.
10/10 would sweat again. This game is the most fun ive had in VR thus far. If you have the space and the athletic ability to duck, dodge and weave, I highly recommend this game. This game is a promising first step to cardio training in VR. Price is a steal for the fun and replayability.
One of the first games I tried was Valve's "The Lab". I found myself gravitating towards the Longbow minigame. I liked the act of firing a bow so much that I thought I'd search for more expansive bow and arrow experience. Thats where I came across Holopoint. The mechanics of the game are quite simple, but so enjoyable. Each time I hit a target, it fires back at me, causing me to have to dodge out of the way. This is what makes the action feel so cool. Each shot I take, I immediately move/lean/crouch out of the way and into position for another shot. When you begin to string together shots and position changes, its an incredible and oddly fluid/graceful feeling.
For the price, Holopoint is a pretty fun experience. I experienced no motion sickness, no tracking issues, and had no trouble enjoying the experience. Its a very active game, so prepare to sweat. If you're a fan of the bow and arrow mechanic, I definitely recommend.
