The Street Fighter 4 series is what really got me into competitive fighting games outside of the Super Smash Bros. scene for the first time. During the vanilla Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4 days, I mostly played casually, both online and at arcades.
When Ultra came out and finally had every character available on disc with no DLC nonsense, I started to really look back and appreciate what Street Fighter 4 did, while also noticing some of the flaws in the series.
At its core, it’s classic Street Fighter—six buttons, neutral-heavy gameplay, different character archetypes, all that good stuff. The main gimmicks of SF4 are kind of hit-or-miss for me, though. The Focus Attack is a fair and balanced way to deal with projectiles, and honestly, it’s better than how SF5 and SF6 handle anti-projectile mechanics. That said, having Ultras separate from Supers feels like a mistake. It leads to spammy gameplay. I get that Ultras are supposed to be comeback mechanics, but after playing SF5 and SF6, I feel like characters having multiple Supers just flows better.
For better or worse, this was the last Street Fighter game to have a more traditional arcade mode for telling character stories. Sure, it’s kind of limited—only two or three cutscenes per character—but looking back, it’s refreshing to have that classic console fighting game story experience all wrapped up in one package for every character. Especially when you consider how hit-or-miss the story and arcade modes have been in SF5 and SF6.
One thing I’ve been messing around with more is Ultra Street Fighter 4’s Omega Mode. I already thought the ability to play characters based on specific patches—vanilla SF4, Super, and Ultra—was a cool feature, but Omega Mode takes it further. It feels like a test bed for what they could get away with in SF5, and it’s fun. Especially considering how SF5 phased out invincible reversals, I’ve come to appreciate Omega Mode as a way to still enjoy fun gimmicks without losing core mechanics like uppercuts or DPs, which are a huge part of Street Fighter characters.
Overall, it’s a shame that Ultra Street Fighter 4 doesn’t have rollback netcode, especially since basically every other mainline entry does now. But it’s still one of the most content-rich Street Fighter games (without DLC) ever. It stays true to the traditional formula while sprinkling in just a few gimmicks—unlike SF5 and SF6, which feel like they’ve gone off the rails by changing so much about major characters and leaning hard into the modern rushdown-only meta.
Oh wow. Its ugly and i don't understand the combos. I dont feel for comitting.
difficult control
Five Words: Tats-mak-sen-puu-kyak!
man i have had this for a little bit but have not played it i don't thinki ever will casue it is an old game soo yea any one now how to refund it
In 2025, USFIV is still the best Street Fighter title.
best street fighter game of all time..
1f links, plinking, and cody
JURI'S FEET. 10/10 game
A modern classic, are there things I wish were updated to improve quality of life?.. hell yes but overall i keep coming back to this game with friends to push our skills and reactions. Timeless fun.
fun for hours with friends
This game bring me back.
Ultimate Street Fighter 4 is the definitive love letter to fighting game fans, delivering smooth mechanics, a deep roster of 44 characters, and just the right amount of "Hadouken!" chaos. Mini stories and cut-scenes for each character. Skill based Mini games, and so much more!
I don't play it often anymore. But I MILKED this game HARD when it first launched on other platforms. As for this version specifically, its amazing. Runs on ROG ally And Steamdeck with no Stutters, or Slowdown. Everything is pretty optimized and intact from what I can remember.
it's fair to note the the multiplayer has been dead for quite some time. (heck, "Multiplayer" is not even a store tag). But this game is an amazing once in awhile Nostalgic trip, as well as a great couch co-op choice!
maybe not full price, but i def recommend at sale price
problaby the most important game of my life, one of the best fighting games of all time, it's the one that reinnovated the fighting games bringing the fighting games to the "3D world" (it's a 2.5D game but whatever), this game is tough, don't think it's an easy game, it's not for everyone, but it is a must play game for every fighting game fan
It's a lovely game.
My favorite street fighter.
seth keeps comboing me in ranked and the cpu's are too easy just play magicka 2

Best SF game ever created. Don't buy this game if you want to learn to do a combo in 2 minutes. This game is the most execution heavy game in the street fighter series. No stupid neutral skip mechanic. You must play street fighter.
Sf6 drive rush ruined the game.
It's Ultra 4, what more else needed to be said about this classic fighting game?
is it too late to ask for a balance patch? Cause i absolutely suck at this
y eh mentira
This game is so ass bruh
i wanna do things to Sakura
it still entertains
W Capcom for still keeping the servers up 10 years later. Not that they are active...
Now, we're entering the new era of gaming, transitioning from good ol' pixels to polygonal 3D models.
Every fighters you knew and loved are still here. With more additionals and special ones that exclusively made their appearances in this version.
Ultra SFIV is greatly excellent! Though the looks are more cartoony with cel shading galore and bleedingly overbright colourful, but still fun to play it. Either solo or versus (local co-op only, since everyone already move on a long time ago to the newest entry of Street Fighter series).
For those of you who often play using Steam Deck, and recently bought this awesome fighting game. You must activate the Compatibility Mode and use Proton (specifically Proton-6.21-GE-2.). Other protons may not working or mostly the cutscenes has no audio.
If you don't know how to, look it up. There are plenty of complete infos plus tutorials about it on Youtube, or simply go to ProtonDB site.
So far this is still my favorite among many of Street Fighter franchise, old and new ones. Though I often play the pixels era version of Street Fighter more, sometimes I chose this and play it with my buddies.
Most of the famous ones gather here from different series, all in one game. With 44 fighters in total by the time I wrote this, and for sure Capcom won't add more. From Decapre to Poison with Blanka and Oni etc. So many other great ones are here for you to fight on.
And I liked the anime style for each of the fighters prologue and epilogue.
So if you just want to walk on memory lane, simply nostalgic of playing a classic game with a touch of modern era, where every single of fighters from the old Street Fighter series you knew has gather together for a fun and friendly couch match, then look no further. Because this one will definitely keeps you coming back for more, just when you think you had enough.

How did I never review this game? This is one of the best Street Fighter games out there. The roster is incredible, the arcade mode is what you want, and the characters are huge. There's a lot to love here, and in 2024 the fighting game community is now starting to really feel fond about this version of the game.
In my opinion, the best Street Fighter games are
SF3: Third Strike, SF6, and then USF4
The game is affordable enough, if you spend one hour with it, you'll be happy
Adoro jogos de luta, e esse além de muito divertido é lindo visualmente. Tbm curto o modo online mesmo que esteja meio mal movimentado
it has hugo
Neat
Wanna play this game? Shor-You-CAN! kill me please
I grew up playing all kinds of games, and yet fighting games were never the genre I'd never take time to actually learn mechanics to a level where they became enjoyable. SF4 was the first game that made me fall in love with the genre, made me go back to other titles, made me have fighting games as one of favourite genres alongside JRPGS.
USFIV is still my favourite SF entry and I'll never get bored from playing it.
Target acquired
Beginning mission
Mission complete
classic
I simply STREET FIGHTER
Makoto is awesome please bring her back for SF6
I don't know what to say, but here's a quote from Shrek The Third.
"I'm a buzzing bee, buzz buzz buzz."
A High-quality, Classic fighting game that works well on lower end devices.
