Everything is fine with the gameplay but its impossible to play in coop using xbox one/s gamepads + xbox 360 gamepads at the same time. The control constantly bugging - the game recognizes some buttons pressed when they are not. Can u fix the control pls...
Very Fun, it is hard but the soundtrack low key slaps
I feel like I'm playing something from the late 90's / early 00's that was unfairly ignored at the time. This is a fun action experience with that spice of digging tunnels that means the map is something you contribute to.
Is this game underrated or what?
Unsung successor to Crimsonland and Sigma's Alien/Zombie shooter, probably the only roguelike that appeals to a sane person, and not the kind that would grind for 300 hours in Binding of Isaac or what-else.
Despite being a pretty "bad" roguelite (not having a lot of content), it makes up for being a REALLY fun arena shooter with a spin, you have to dig through your own arena, which is already a good gameplay alternative to having an open field or backwardly running out of a tunnel, Serious Sam convention style. Sometimes you can run straight to the exit portal, sometimes the game asks you to perform a special task of shooting the red beacons, or pressing the panel first. There are even extra tasks in each room, and two special rooms in total of 2 worlds, that ask you to survive the horde, in which you can stay indefinitely, as waves progressively get harder and harder. You can get extra experience, based on how long you stay . On top of your regular "speed", "health" and "damage" stats, you now have digging speed, which varies from character to character.
Did i mention this game has 4 characters? Now, the basic one that you start with is nothing special, decent damage, basic upgrades, questionable and tricky flamethrower perks, an ability to dig faster or blow packs of enemies with C4, a dodge roll ability that sets bomberman charges and changes how often you can roll. It's fine! Nothing to write home about, pretty straightforward and overall decent.
Then there is a fighter... ironically, a big brained character that takes practice, patience, luck and a real use out of those unlocked equipments you have, this guy generates extra armor, providing you complete safety from direct hits, he can clean a room full of baddies as a perpetual spinning machine (an attack that takes chunks out of boss's hp), and stun enemies to get away or squeeze some more dps. It's a character for those, who has collected everything and want to feel like a powerhouse.
A priest, basically, easy mode for any type of players, carrying automatic shotgun, ability to charge at enemies, that which can result in them falling off into a pit (it's a sight to behold), a panic AOE attack, and grenade launcher (which feels more like a sniper rifle in late game).
There is one more class, but I will keep his perks a secret, you'll just have to see for yourself (hint: he teleports like a freak)
Each class is unique and balanced, they perform based on your skill and knowledge, but there are also mixtures of perks and classes that work and don't work, which is an important tip for co-op! (another tip for co-op: turn the friendly fire off, unless that's your point, in which case, hope you at least prepare a safe word). This game supports up to 4 players, customized XP and money share, alongside basic difficulty and random enemy waves, provided.
Despite having 2 bosses and 2 mini bosses total, which can be shocking to roguelite enthusiasts out there, it's a really balanced, rewarding, customizable and incredibly polished experience, that thoroughly feels whole. You can even do a bunch of small pre-set challenges for a reward, instead of grinding whole-runs!
P.S: Has Roguelike mode tick, provided you are an escaped patient of a mental institution

Overlooked, challenging, top-down, twin-stick rogue-lite shooter gem, mixing Aliens "Bug hunt" style gameplay with a compelling path-digging and gems-gathering mechanic in fully destructible mines. Four classes with powerful weapons and abilities that are enhanced by deep and powerful Perks and Passives systems. Massive, but fair bosses. Good, gory fun. :)

Line-of-sight system for enemies -- you won't see them unless your character has line of sight on them -- helps create suspense and surprises. But you can see the wider map and I don't feel the top-down view is as restricting as it often is in games with this view point (Hotline Miami et al).
Fog-of-war in the environment adds a sense of discovery, while available passive abilities allow you to see everything on the over head map if you prefer. You can both dig your own paths and use your weapons to obliterate the environment to create new pathways quickly, though this can damage the gems that you need to mind as currency for upgrades.

Devious mix of well-animated, mostly alien monsters, with some heavily armed humanoid enemies and turrets to liven things up.
Four player local co-op and limited online co-op via Steam Remote Play Together Supported.
Cons? Most maps boil down to finding a teleporter or Surviving enemy waves, I would've liked a bit more variety in mission objecftives. A true online co-op mode probably would've likely help build more of a long-term community for the game.
I have had some stability issues with the game, and certain classes seem to crash the game more than others.
The game released in late 2019 after 5 years development to not much attention - only 20 player reviews on Steam as of mid-February 2021. It doesn't appear that the dev is actively working on or updating the game anymore, which is a shame.
I was not really impressed by its playable demo when i tried it in 2020 and ignored it since.
Got it during a steep discount sale in February 2021. Much, much more impressed with the full game. :) The Preacher (shotgun, bombs) is, I think, an easier character for new players to do well with - more durable and better able to handle the game's alien masses - and might've been a better choice for the demo character.
nice and simple. I like it
menu could be a little less complicated, however
At its full price, you might be disinclined to buy it for its perfunctory viuals and uninspired theme. But it's well-worth it for the gameplay, and at its current 75% discount there's really no question about it: Recommended.
A nice attempt, but the gameplay isn't engaging enough and the controls are a bit clunky.
While easily overlooked because of its graphics, Gerty is a hidden gem of the roguelite genre. It's not Bindings of Isaac or Nuclear Throne, but I'd take this over Enter the Gungeon any day. Distinct enemies and unique characters combined with a unique risk and reward resource gathering approach add replayability on top of a broad selection of unlockable gameplay modifiers.
I played this with my brother while he was in town because he said that he wanted to play a game with upgrades. That it was, but when I got the achievement for beating the game after the end of world TWO, we both lost a couple seconds of our lives in astonishment. "What? That's it?!?" was our mutual reaction. We spent more time analyzing our upgrades (equipment, perks, etc.) than we did playing the actual game. It sucks, too, because we were both really enjoying the game, but once our characters became formidable, the game was over! :(
This is a fun game. Not very long and you might find yourself dying a lot right at beginning. Found Commando to be the best, but really didn't play with other characters much. The challenge system is a nice concept, though I didn't really use it. It is worth it to stick around the teleporter for a bit to try and farm some xp (and juice if you have the right item) early on, but be careful. I do HATE the survive levels, they are annoying. If you are looking to get the secret/complete ending you will need the mallet to break through the special walls on 2nd world.
Probably wouldn't pay full price for this one, but the 80% isolation discount makes this one well worth it. A bit unpolished but still a good deal of fun =D
I'm loving this game. I really like the unique digging mechanic and hidden enemies. Its hard, its randomized, and its got strategy, just like an action should be. Its only made better by the fact that it has four player couch co-op, something not enough games have in my opinion. Sure its not perfect, but I don't think there's a single game out there that I ever thought was perfect.
TLDR: Duke Nukem, Doom, Crimsonland, had a top down mining RPG baby with perks upon inventory, upon defense, offense, and general usage items, your $fame of planetary conquests will net you your future performances, in the story-roguelite, Bosses are like the UUUGGE Dungeon Siege kind- fill the screen and annihilate you. There are like 4 types of shops to use in-game with the things you mine, each shops have available based on the level, and your Fame-currency unlocks post-death.
The shops are: -utility :-stat :-offence :-defence :
Version 1.0 Release: Rogue mode: Incredible, Local co-op incredible, feels like crimson land in doom levels, the bosses feel super large with powers the size of their health bars, and after your levels, you use your fame to unlock upgrades available at the three types of perk shops in-game.
Your inventory can only hold like 10 upgrades max though, and then you start also paying for upgrades in a different currency after you have consumed certain tier of purple-crystal credits.
Very cool to chill and play alone, or rampage the whole planet with friends,
Different characters to unlock after you beat the levels must still be completed by this noob
Incredibly fun. Alien. Universal. Randomly Generated, Challenging as hell, Painkiller, CrimsonLand,
Addictive,
View: top-down
Takes two attempts to get used to the game- WASD< Spacebar, middle mouse, left and right clicks. 4 abilities. Upgradeable EVERYTHING>
There is a tutorial, but i just looked at in-game key-bindings - you feel the flow eventually.
Many types of enemies. From bombers that attack you when you're in a concave, to outright robotic beasts that will pound you out of existence.
Rogue-Mode still to be tested-
Loved the fluidity and ability to have fun in multiple directions in the game. Perks come 1 in ever 5 levels, so what you choose here depends on your next unlocks. Very exciting. Still unlocks in the menu that will aid your in-game adventures. So much to explore.
Upgrades: WIth Juice shards
Open Lootboxes
You dig through the snowy planet, and mountain rocks, upgrade while you're leveling up, you basically upgrade whatever you are doing, and gain HP, shields, whether temporary, and then you get unlockable weapon upgrades, so as you play you gather Fame with what you do , like overall Experience points, to spend on a line of traits in the menu, to make your in-game experience, faster, or more tactile, or more explosion-oriented, or stealth-oriented
& You are able to test all lines with the Fame system - as it will let you reset it if you want to try a different Lineage of Fame investments -
Menu has rogue mode also!@ but either way, you can keep playing and upgrade one line of character., THEN _ finally - when you get maybe close to bored, you should have unlocked more characters :) [there are 4 others, and they look awesome. ]
TLDR: VERY COOL GAME< Full of life. Like Risk of Rain/2 - but top-down version ;) and you have a lot more CHOICE::::::::::)
The longevity of this game is way to short for $15.
I heard a description of this game as Risk of Rain underground... which kinda fits, but there aren't random item drops. Lots of stuff to unlock, but I'm worried how long that will last. No real story... More content will come. Unless you are getting this on sale wait till the full release.
I would like to see more: playable characters, stages, items.
Some good digging combat to be found here, sometimes you want to dig out tunnels to run away, sometimes you'd rather keep spots blocked so enemies can't get to you.
I think $16.99 is a little too much to ask for this game in its current state, but I would say that it's probably worth it if you've tried the demo, and want to support the development of the game as a whole.
Currently there are only like 6 or 7 levels that you can play through until you reach a final boss. After beating the boss, you basically get a screen saying that you've reached the end of the content for the current Early Access release, and to try playing on a harder level.
I really do like where this game is headed -- my kids and I had a blast playing through the content in about an hour or so.
Quite good! Really fun topdown shooter... With 4 characters with 4 skills each, each skill with branching upgrades, you're likely talking bare minimum 16 runs before you're out of totally novel builds to do a 20-40+ minute full clear. It's not a bad amount of gameplay at all... and that's before you talk about some 40ish support items, a good sized list of achievements, and 10 or so challenge modes specific to each character. The core gameplay was more than fun enough to hold my interest through quite a lot so far, and I've still got energy to do more when I've time. Very worth your time. There's also a free demo, which is what left me waiting excitedly for it months back, so if you're not sure, I reccomend trying that (it's a solid example of the gameplay). I'll be honest that it could use the second level the devs have said is coming (there's also some sort of artifact system not yet fully implemented I'm interested to see), some vareity would just be nice in terms of scenery (and enemies?)... But for the price, I'm plenty happy with the core content released so far to a point I'm excited for the rest as icing on the cake, rather than tapping my foot with impatience.
Great little game, well made, lots going on, with some nice innovations. I dont like controllers and so too hard on my kb fingers, but otherwise a real beauty.
