About the Game
RAM BOE is a witty puzzle game inspired by the classic Sokoban, but with a twist. Instead of having to position blocks in different marked places, here you have to combine them and place them all in the mystical well of revival to free the souls trapped inside. That idea set it up for some really mind-boggling puzzles.FEATURES
- a cute and fuzzy ram as the main character
- 70 levels of brain-bending puzzling action
- cartoonish graphics
- did I mention we have a cute ram? I did?
- achievements, badges and trading cards
- keyboard/gamepad friendly controls
- a level editor connected with steam workshop so you can build/share levels
- handpicked background songs from the famous Kevin Macleod
CHARACTER
Meet Boe the Ram, his full name is Beauregard Pete, but we use Boe out of commodity. He wasn't always a ram, he used to be an adventurer, he loved to climb mountains and hug trees. It all took a turn for the worse when he heard about this ice demon terrorizing the mountain tops. He went to slay it, but he was no match. His soul was forced into a rune stone by the jotun and after struggling for a while, he escaped and possessed a ram. That's how RAM BOE was born: one part man, one part wool, one part horns and a lot of parts cuddly.
THE TEAM
Greetings, we are a small group of friends that love video games. So we thought "hey, why not learn how to make video games" and so here we are. The team is composed of five people, hence the name of the team. This is our first attempt at a computer game and we are thrilled that we received so much attention and we promise to keep surpassing our limits in game-making.
THANK YOU
We thank each and every one of you, our voters, our commentators, our players, even you, the guy reading this right now! All that hard work and sweat can't compare with the moment you have the game finished and people are making a hype over it. We had a lot of fun making it and we hope you will enjoy playing it.

I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.

RAM BOE is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. The mobile app is, even as the developers admit themselves, a ripoff of Sokoban, but with some cartoony low poly graphics and instead of a pixel dude it's a sheep that pushes the boxes. So basically this is the same game that you can play for free in a web browser, only the "developers" want your money because they dumped a crap mobile app on Steam. The absolute state of amateur "indie" game developers, right here.
On the upside you can change the resolution for the game, but apart from that lofty technical high, it's all downhill, and sharply.
From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
The mobile app features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the mobile app (although the requirement for this to run on low end mobile phones is a factor), and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the mobile app unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the mobile app is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. RAM BOE has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the mobile app absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for for completing the tutorial, trivial to achieve, but less than 1 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the mobile app. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this mobile app was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the mobile app. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 1 percent of players bothered playing the mobile app for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this mobile app to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the mobile app? Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this mobile app for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the mobile app just has a couple of players every week running up the mobile app and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $2 USD, on app stores, it's $1. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay TWICE THE PRICE for a cheap mobile game just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this is a mobile app, is priced to insult and gouge PC gamers, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. Just who do they think we are?
NOTE: This is a review of the Linux version of this game. I have experienced problems with Unity games on Linux before; Windows gameplay may be different.
A nice 3D Sokoban-type game with interesting levels. However, be prepared to be frustrated (and not because the puzzles are difficult)...
The controls are slow and sometimes inconsistent. I've lost count of the number of time I've moved too far/not far enough and consequently moved the wrong block or moved in the wrong direction, and then had to waste time undoing the move. Pressing direction keys individually takes too long, and holding a key down results in the above.
The timer! Why? Given that the whole point of Sokoban-type games (IMO) is to think ahead and plan your moves, why have a timer? The control problem mentioned above only makes the timer even more frustrating. It is obviously made deliberately difficult because there is an achievement for timing out on a particular level 10 times.
The camera and 3D view: I don't think I have started a level without some part of the board being obscured by a tree or something. Moving the camera around to get a better view of the board works fine, but again it takes up precious seconds from the timer.
If the timer was removed, or at least had an option to turn it off, the game would be far less frustrating. If you want to be competitive, why not have a timer counting up from zero with no limit?
If these issues were addressed, this would be an enjoyable game.
would be a nice game without the timer, need relax-mode
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I was really hoping this would be a fun game and I would gladly give it a thumbs up IF THERE WAS A RELAXED OPTION (preferably no time or at the very least much more time than is currently given on each level). But the times are way to restrictive to get the levels done without hurrying to do it which is not fun for me. Sorry, devs!
I also didn't like that I had to restart the game to get the Steam achievements earned on the previous start.
UPDATE:
Timer was removed (+) but the mouse was also removed (-) which makes gameplay totally with the keyboard a pain! Sorry, still a negative review.
Cute puzzle game with nice animations and music. It's not too challenging but it makes you think. I'd love to recommend it but the camera angles and long animation times hamper what would otherwise be a great puzzle game.
This is a genuinely lovely game! If you like casual puzzle games, this is a nice way to pass the time. The music and graphics are well done, and Ram Boe himself is super cute! It has a sweet retro feel to it too; classic gameplay at heart.
Just watch the cliffs, I walked off so many times already!! A+
Good game! From level 1-20 I need some of 40 min
A very basic puzzle game with nice graphics and sound. I would have preferred a much simpler version that didn't require me to wait ages for the ram to move around. I think 90% of my time was spent just waiting for the bastard to move!
I just played the game. It's quite cool and catchy. It reminds me about a very old game played on my first computer, a 486, on windows 3.1 - Chips. A game from Wingames bundle. This time, well we have 3D, nice music and graphics and ingenious level designs.
Awesome!
I do recommend it.
Notes:
1) Pay attention to the Tip screens - you may find out useful tips.
2) The game may require some updates. I had to use my Enter key from the numeric keypad, instead of the "Return" one.
Question for develpers: can you please decrease the animation time on PC? The animation takes too long.. Sometimes I have the feeling that the animations are slowing me down and I feel like I loose precious seconds... Thank you!
