very fun and easy to get into, the sountrack also slaps
I don't like games with time pressure. For me, gaming is relaxation, time pressure and stress I have enough at work.
6.0/10
Prepare to use these arrows keys!
Gameplay : 7/10 (Repetitive but hide some cute bonus content)
Story : 5/10 (None except some screen text for new enemies)
Music : 6/10 (Simple Fantasy Backgound Music) (+1 for sound effect when you capture enemies... ooff.. got you !)
Graphics : 5/10 (Drawing of each region is cute and immersive but that's it)
Replayability : 7/10 (After beating impossible mode you'll want to stay away from this game)
Pro
- The learning curve is not steap and if a good challenge if you want to do it at 100% Satisfaction guaranteed.
Con
- The powerup does help a bit but there's no way to make them last longer or upgrade them (That would make the game too easy, so it's OK then....)
Tips : Use the keyboard for quick come back on your line and do little steps at the time to conquer that dragon master...whatever it's name.
Fortix 2 is an accessible and enjoyable arcade game, perfect for casual players. It provides hours of replayability with numerous levels to conquer. However, it doesn't offer much innovation in terms of gameplay and strategies compared to the first Fortix. While it retains the charm and simplicity of its predecessor, it might feel familiar and lacking a fresh twist for those who've played the original. Despite this, for players looking for a classic arcade experience with updated visuals, Fortix 2 still offers solid entertainment and a chance to conquer territory in an enchanting fantasy world.
The game crashes after each victory (but it is saved so you can play after restarting the game).
Once they fix it, it will be as good as the first episode.
Simple yet catchy game, the whole game is about capturing territory while dodging turrets and enemies, not much action, but still pretty fun.
Playtime: 1 hour+
Achievements: Can get challenging*
Overall: Worth a try
*Thanks to save editing you can bypass most of the challenge, there is a Steam Guide that will help you with that.
I, unfortunately, found it after raging for several hours and completing the impossible perfect run legitimately, but then used it for the zombie mode to make my life a bit easier.
With the first Fortix iteration Nemesys Games gave Taito's original take on the arcadey "capture" puzzler a fantasy spin and took advantage of the setting in favor of a couple mechanics twists, like capturing catapults or using conquered territory as cover against watchtowers' fire--in a way adding a layer of tower-defensing to the long forgotten formula. It never achieves Qix's level of tension (much due to the original's unmatchable surreal sci-fi thematic), but it fares well enough in what it was intended to--even if the Flash indie aesthetics don't get to sell it well.
Fortix 2 builds upon every corner of its predecessor's foundation, and it's mostly for the better: the game's presentation (and overall mood) is still casual, but several notches up regarding art direction; new enemies/power-ups are introduced at a more fine-tuned pace, lending the game a solid feel to the experience as a whole; and the same can be said about levels design, with the handcrafted walls/keys mechanics--despite the fact those sacrifice some of the player's freedom in favor of a more heavy-handed gameplay flow.
On top of the meatier main game, the extra content is what really makes Fortix 2 unmissable for players interested in such a specific premise. Several difficulty settings (with specific related achievements), an extra hidden mode that changes the gameplay in meaniful ways, valuable Steam Trading Cards, plus the entire first game (reskinned with the modern assets) available as a post-game unlockable make Fortix 2's value hard to pass.
Information / Review English
Fortix 2 is an arcade fantasy game developed by Nemesys Games.
Gameplay / Story
Your task is to draw rectangles in the picture until you have reduced the original rectangle so much that you win the game and thus push back your enemies and thus gradually recapture the country. But this is not always easy, because when you draw, bats, fire arrows, cannonballs, death dragons and other nasty attacks attack - if the projectile or enemy touch the hero or his unfinished line, you lose a life. To make matters worse, different surfaces such as seas or forests affect the hero's running speed and some walls block his way. Then he first has to isolate keys so that gates open. Elsewhere, he can fence in guns that automatically fire at enemy towers. In the end, you don't have to occupy the majority of the map, but conquer certain, well-guarded points - a successful extension of the concept.
Pro
+ Child-friendly
+ Challenge comes first
+ various difficulties, not too easy and not too difficult
+ Bonus goals for point hunters
+ several control options
+ Achievements and trading cards
Contra
- Manageable number of levels
- entertains little more than a few minutes
Conclusion
Fortix 2 is again a successful, simple puzzle game for young and old, which is difficult to master.
Information / Review Deutsch
Pro
+ Kinderfreundlich
+ Herausforderung steht an erster Stelle
+ verschiedene Schwierigkeiten, nicht zu leicht und nicht zu schwer
+ Bonusziele für Punktejäger
+ mehrere Steuerungsmöglichkeiten
+ Errungenschaften und Trading Cards
Kontra
- überschaubare Anzahl an Levels
- unterhält kaum mehr als wenige Minuten
Fazit
Fortix 2 ist bietet dir wieder ein gelungenes einfaches Denkspiel für jung und alt, welches aber schwer zu meistern ist.
I always loved Qix and the many simular ones, so I was bound love it. I wouldn't call it a reverse tower defense tho. But let's leave it at that. Now about the game itself. The grafix are good if you like that style. I do admit it is rather adorable. A 30 level addictive challenge. I find this casual game highly enjoyable. If you played the first one than you can consider Fortix 2 the improved version. The gameplay stays the same, just like most levels. If you prefer the retro look then this one is nothing for you!
Simple, yet challenging. Addictive in an old school tetris kind of way. Definitely worth a couple bucks. Just don't click the High Scores page as it insta-crashes to desktop.
The painting of this game as "reverse tower defense" demonstrates an utter lack of understanding firstly of what tower defense means, and secondly, of the long and storied history of Qix and it's many many clones.
Make no mistake, this game has nothing to do with the tower defense genre, and everything to do with being a shameless re-imagining of the classic 8-bit game Qix. That sounds like it would be a bad thing, but the truth is that Qix was a rad game when it released in 1981, and Fortix 2 truly feels like what would happen if the developers of Qix had time-traveled 30 years into the future at the start of development.
Qix featured a simple mechanic, slickly implemented, with a presentation that was unremarkable but serviceable for its day. The exact same thing is true for Fortix 2. This is not a complicated game, but it is a great implementation of a simple mechanic. The difficulty curve is pitch-perfect, making finishing a level without losing any lives achievable but challenging.
Fortix 2 isn't going to blow anyone away, but it does an excellent job of filling that spot in your Steam library for a game that doesn't ask for much in the way of investment, and can be consumed in 5-minute increments while still feeling rewarding, and for $2 or less, you can't really ask for more.
Fortix 2 is a direct sequel to Fortix. The gameplay is essentially the same. Graphics are improved and the maps are more challenging. One nice addition is you now have to collect keys to open the next part of the map. This makes each map longer and more difficult. The game has a high amount of replayability as you will want to get a "perfect" rating for each map. Addictive and a lot of fun, for $1.99 you will easily get a bunch of hours sunk into this little gem.
I definetly recomment to try this game. Its very cheap and quite entertaning. If you like thinking on your feet. The games is for you. But dont get into getting perfect scores, because you will be in trouble if you know what I mean :)
This my video review of the game. I hope it will help to decide.

Addictive! Couldn't put down the 1st one and the little enhancements put into Fortix 2 were just right. Don't mess with a good thing. There's frustrations in this one - but it's a fun game that keeps your attention. A casual game to chip away at. Pick it up with ease. Controls are simple and accurate. Multiple difficulties and acheivements will keep the replay value high - perfect for a casual game.
Older gamers will recognize Taito's Qix... and this is a good thing. Add all that story icing, mild inverted tower defense and colorful graphics and you got a nice game for only 1.99$... sweet deal if you consider there are trading cards and achievements as well...
PROS
- Quality graphics style and illustration
- Very cheap at 2$
CONS
- Boring
REVIEW
Original gameplay, and certeinly so cheap that price is not an issue, but it remains too simple to be worth the time.
The main problem is that the more you advance in missions, the more the single tactic will be to inch forward towards your objective and any tactic or strategy becomes obsolete. Things will shoot at you and move towards you too fast to let you do anything clever, and the inching forward process is very boring, at least to me. This game is empty of any strategy whatsoever, no thinking required.
Not recommended. At least watch a let's play video before buying this.
For only 1,99 Euro this game is fun.
It can be played by anybody.
It's simple gameplay like it's older predecessors, but with better graphics and few more options.
It even has achievements and trading cards.
8/10.
This is a fantastic game. It's very fun and easy to learn but with a degree of difficulty that ramps up nicely. The graphics are much nicer than expected and really draw you into the game. I've spent a few hours in the game already and I'm still only on easy mode and there's just so much more of the game left to play.
Frustrating at times, but loads of fun. It takes a concept as old as gaming itself and revitalizes it with nice graphics, music, and unique gameplay. Definitely worth the $2.
This game is sooo enjoyable! its also srsly a good choice if you dont want to use your mouse! I play it on my toaster lap top, it works smoothly and its alot of fun. For those older gamers if you remember the game called "JezzBall", well this is the improved version of that one :) Its 1$ at the moment and its more than worth it!
A remarkably upgraded Fortix version. It has very good and improved graphics, some new mechanics and clever achievements. Also a Zombie Mode! C'mon, how can a game be without a zombie mode these days :D Well, it's pretty hard on further levels as those zombies spawn as hell. In overall good and pleasant area capturing game.
Excellent casual game. Really addictive. You're a knight who has to create shapes inside a giant rectangle. Once you see it in action, you know what sort of game this is. I'm sure everyone has played a clone of this game at least once in his/her life. In fact, know the old Snake game (no, not Metal Gear Solid, you fool) ? The gameplay is similar to this game, except this is a bit more feature packed. Excellent graphics, good music, addictive gameplay. We have a winner here !
