I'm going to write this review as I play.
4/19/25 - 2 hours - Not recommended - Oh my God the tutorial is awful.
1. You can't load up the tutorial campaign from a save because the tutorial messages won't pop up if you do.
2. You can't return to previous steps. 3. Some of the steps were unable to be completed--for example, on my first time I loaded the tutorial campaign, it took a while for my zooming actions to register and allow me to click "next." The next time I started the tutorial campaign and replayed the controls section because I had to restart the tutorial due to the aforementioned loading problem, it just wouldn't register at all and I had to quit and restart the campaign and just skip the rest of the controls section.
4. When I attempted to raise a rock above the cube as asked of me using left control, the default key, as it instructed you should be able to do in the tutorial messages, it just wouldn't work. In fact it wouldn't work on many objects--you would think it would place the rock at the very top of whatever object I was hovering over, but some objects have their axis at the bottom I guess. I had to just raise it using left shift, which required me to raise it to a manual height.
5. For some reason, employee paths have directions on them that are supposed to be automatically configured depending on what paths you connect to them, but I also apparently couldn't edit or delete the employee paths the developers had already put into the campaign. So, when I placed down more employee paths *in the spot the game highlighted for me*, they didn't connect to the pre-established paths and I kept getting messages that the employee couldn't reach the stall they connected to. It was so confusing to me that I looked up a video on *placing paths*, something you should never have to look up for a game.
6. When I first starting playing with the terrain tools, as the tutorial instructed, I accidentally immediately created a giant lake underneath a part of the park while trying to raise a single tile. Basically, if you drag too far down on what is supposed to be editing a 1x1 tile, you will destroy the entire planet. And, unfortunately, there is no undo button (a MASSIVE oversight that is going to bite me in the ass in the future, I know it), so I had to go and spend more money and time to return the terrain to what it was. So I will have to be *very* careful when using this tool in the future. And moving the terrain under a building doesn't raise or lower a building, it just buries it or creates a hovering building.
7. Finally, when I placed the last piece of rollercoaster track to finish the last of the tutorial, the game froze my entire computer and I had to do a hard power-button restart.
I really hope the rest of the game isn't like this.
not played much YET but This is very col and cute! i did not think i would like it like i did and im so ready to pout time into it. its def worth it. very cute but for adults!
Easily worth a buy for anyone who likes Rollercoaster Tycoon or amusement/theme park games.
As long as you don't come in expecting Planet Coaster (aka AAA+ graphics) you'll find a great game that is a proper Rollercoaster Tycoon spiritual successor, with more in-depth management then Planet Coaster has and a campaign actually worth playing, although the difficulty curve is a real mess. The modding community is great too with a wide variety of content, quite in-depth too including some pretty great custom campaigns and rollercoasters.
There are a few downsides such as that unfortunately a large amount of mods are out of date and they haven't got a great system of filtering out rides and mods that are bugged or broken. That and the team isn't massive so don't expect any massive expansion packs or anything, still the ones they have are way better then Planet Coasters overpriced DLCS with actually good content, custom scenarios and stuff that isn't just branded tie-ins.

Recently I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to play some RCT 2 - I opened the game and it was unplayable - the music was incredibly grating, the display didn't work with my screen, v dissapointing. So I downloaded Parkitect to give it a shot. I am so happy I did. I never used to spend so much time decorating my parks but now I absolutely love it. So much flexibility -- now the only limit is my own imagination. And I love how it actually matters in the game. It's a good time, music is usually pretty good, if you loved Rollercoaster Tycoon, you'll love this game.
This is the successor to Roller Coaster Tycoon in spirit. Fun and challenging campaigns map and scenarios with multiple building themes. I highly recommend.
Very well made and addictive.
Fantastic, relaxing. beautiful game - essentially modern RCT with great customization/decorating options. Management side of things can be in depth, but not necessary to pay too much attention to if you're looking to just zone out and build/decorate some cool shit
I suck at managing money in this game, but its pretty fun to have unlimited money and build the biggest theme park you can.
If you ever spent hours as a kid playing the old-school RollerCoaster Tycoon, get ready to relive the magic—on steroids. Parkitect is the ultimate evolution of theme park management games, offering players an unprecedented level of control and creativity.
In Parkitect, you're in charge of every aspect of your park, from designing thrilling rollercoaster twists and turns to setting the perfect price for your drink stand. The depth of customization is astounding, allowing you to craft a park that’s not just functional, but a stunning visual masterpiece. Decorations play a huge role in impressing your guests, giving you the tools to create immersive, jaw-dropping environments.
What really makes Parkitect special is its attention to detail and the nostalgic charm it brings to the table. It captures the joy of building, managing, and delighting guests while adding modern features and depth to the experience.
Whether you're a longtime fan of theme park games or a newcomer looking for a captivating simulation game, Parkitect delivers endless fun and creativity. It’s time to channel your inner theme park tycoon and build the park of your dreams!
Nothing short of a masterpiece. Parkitect is a more perfect balance of simulation and sandbox than many of its sandbox-focused contemporaries - hitting your goals feels like a genuine accomplishment and not just an inevitability. Good ride variety, a perfect artstyle that allows for exceptional flexibility and creative piece usage, and an excellent intuitive coaster builder that feels like a true modernization of the RollerCoaster Tycoon formula.
If I had to nitpick some negatives, there are occasional bugs (usually just graphical), a lot of z-fighting with scenery pieces, and I'm not totally jazzed on the music - no "bad" tracks, but nothing I thought knocks it out of the park either. As a coaster enthusiast, I'd always love more coaster types too. Luckily the DLC does add some more and you can play the main campaign with some of those options turned on, which is very nice, but even some "basic" coaster types that are very common these days like RMC Hybrids are missing from the game.
Texel Raptor is extremely open and communicative with the community too, and despite claiming they have been finished working on the game for quite some time, they continue to push out updates with new scenery pieces, recolorable objects, bug fixes, and more - not to mention the fun monthly build challenges and other ways they keep the community active and thriving. This is all the more impressive as other would-be competitors like Park Beyond and Planet Coaster 2 step onto the scene. Here's hoping they surprise us with something more substantial in the coming years.
If Planet Coaster is the spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, Parkitect is the spiritual successor to RCT 1 and 2. Parkitect is pure joy, and you owe it to yourself to experience this game.
I grew up with RCT and when Planet Coaster came out, I tried out that game. But it was too overwhelming for me. Too many options and too much freedom. Parkitect was the perfect in between for me. Easy to grasp concepts but still a lot of room for creativity. I also like the fact that it nudges you to use the decoration. You do not need to create youtube worthy design. You only need to fill it up with some trees, flowers and props. It also helps that there are blueprints available for inspiration.
Its like roller coaster tycoon but u can make banger coasters
Once you figure out how to play, this game offers no meaningful challenge at all. The art style also feels too bland and soulless.
So far it feels like a perfect combination of nostalgia and discovery. I'm enjoying laying out my staff's "backstage" areas and disguising them in scenery. Making money seems a little more challenging than the classic RCT games, but I'm looking forward to figuring all of that out, too. Overall, I'm pretty sure I'll be addicted to this game for a good long while!
Good game, spiritual successor to RCT2 (yes I know openRCT exists) Decent amount of content
Pros:
-Keeps true to many design elements of early rct games
-Greater variety of custom track pieces
-Greatly expands upon decoration as a feature
-Many other game play features implemented or expanded upon, but not changed in essence
Cons:
-Music is serviceable but does not fit the game as well as it could thematically. No music sticks out to me as 'iconic', 'amazing', or 'bad'
-You will probably need to purchase both DLC's
-Stats for your park are usually locked behind research in scenarios. IMO stats should always be available
-New supply system for stalls is well implemented but I would prefer this to not be included at all. Much better than Planet Coaster's staffing system
Amazing! I love it! Just like RCT2 with modern graphics.
My only beef is height markers are missing (I think) but otherwise really fun game and plenty of vanilla content.
If you're someone who spent hours building roller coasters and managing parks back in the day with games like Rollercoaster Tycoon, then this game is exactly what you need. It brought me right back to my childhood reminiscing the epic times I played this while my siblings watched me. This game isn’t just about nostalgia; it lets us play as adults and tackle challenges together. The co-op mode is everything I ever wanted. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a nostalgic experience with a modern, multiplayer twist. I want to shout out to the people who made this game possible, thank you! I had been waiting forever for a game like this one.
Really enjoy this game, easy controls. lots of options. smooth game play. option to be play with unlimited money.
BEACUSE
Good game.
good
Unassuming yet deceptively powerful building sim. This is a master class in good UI. I wish other games would emulate how the devs effectively anticipate what the player will need to create what they imagine. I also wish they would make a city building sim!
This game is one of my favorite games of all time. Not just as a simulator game, but against all genres. It's extremely in depth with the control you have over the park, and gives not only a fun sandbox where you control the difficulty, but also difficult challenges and an excelent campaign mode. I highly recommend this to any fans of simulator games, or somebody who is looking for a relaxing time building and managing their park.
good
good game but needs constant updataes
Hits that nostalgia just right for anyone growing up with roller coaster tycoon
I love this game and I think this developer did an incredible job. On the one hand, I feel like there is enough game in this installment for me to revisit and revisit again, especially with all of the incredible content folks have added to the workshop. On the other hand - by golly I want this dev to speed ahead to Parkitect 2 because I enjoyed this game so much!
Ok some actual reviewing - at first the game seems somewhat limited in its ride selection (again the workshop adds a lot) but you quickly realize that with decor and paint options, you can really pack a lot of variety in the park. The terrain tool has got to be the easiest terrain tool I've played with ever. On that note - the game doesn't do a great job at TEACHING you how to play, even though the features are all there under the hood as needed. For example - it seems lots of folks complain about underground pathing and such, but you can use the views menu to show the underground for those times when something in your underground path is in the way, and you need to see what it is and fix it. The games level of polish is very high, and you can lose a lot of time programming speakers, repainting terrain, watching ride animations and mixing firework shows for your guests (I say mixing because the firework tool reminds me of garageband haha).
And most of all, the little SIM NPCs that populate your parks are adorable and have some personality to them. Whether they're eating, drinking, puking, cramping, laughing, or walking - these NPCs really make you feel like the park is truly being enjoyed which is a big improvement on older theme park games where the NPCs who visit your park feel more like set dressing than actual visitors.
For Parkitect 2 I would suggest an assistant (think the old Sim Theme Park for PS1) who can help give pointers to new players but could be toggled off once you have the hang of it. I also think it would be great to have some pre-developed transport templates instead of having to always build the monorail or related transport options.
I want to give a big thanks to this dev/publisher for releasing most of the core content in a single game. The Sim/Management genre is like a tidal wave of titles that are shells of the intended gameplay experience, and expect customers to shell out tons of money on expansions and DLC to have a complete experience (I'm calling out titles like The Sims, Jurassic World, Cities Skylines, etc.) While I did get the additional materials on offer for this game, I feel that most folks could start with the core game and enjoy it greatly, unlike those other titles which force FOMO on the players by constantly advertising all of the missing game experiences directly in-game to the player.
TLDR: Just buy it and try it - it should be a great time! Remember to build restrooms and drink shops for your guests!
RCT vibes go hard, pretty chill game
Chill park builder, great for playing while chatting with friends, etc. Has a bit of a difficulty curve and the game reeeally doesn't hand-hold you, but eventually things will start to make sense if you stick with it.
TONS of user-created prefabs in the workshop you can find to place in your games pre-decorated, but it's disappointing there doesn't seem to be a way to filter out the ones which require paid DLC (nearly all of them).
Multiplayer is fun with friends when it works (we weren't able to join a game in-progress, but the pregame lobby worked fine), though it doesn't really add any new dimensions to the gameplay.
What a nice little game, it is very easy to get lost building a park!
The problem with games like this, is, they play like a game engine full of assets you can mess around with...like satisfactory...my worst "game" ever played.
No actual game or rules to play by.
I'd MUCH rather play roller coaster tycoon...which came out of a cereal box when I was a kid.
To this day, it's still light years ahead of any other park tycoon.
funny
A great modern take on a classic.
Parkitect takes the framework from the original Roller Coaster Tycoon games and expands upon it, adding guest immersion mechanics and behind-the-scenes park management, encouraging you to make a nice looking park without letting guests break their immersion by seeing the inner-workings of the park.
In addition, it also has great workshop support, allowing you to share your ride and decoration blueprints as well as create and download custom scenery and rides.
I highly recommend it if you like Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2.
Muscle memory for all RCT games that I played 200 years ago re-activated without a problem, which was great, could just dive back into the amazingness of RCT without having to deal with learning a new park sim and hating half of it. This game is so much fun for 'oldies' like myself, but also recommend for newcomers to the genre, because everyone with an interest should experience the genius of RCT, and this game allows this in a modern fashion.
However, camera controls are beyond atrocious and the game is, for me, absolutely unplayable without the mod Perspective Camera. This addon brings normal, standard camera controls that the game industry has been using for the past 25 years for genres such as this (for a reason). This addon is a matter of set and forget, so if you're like me, don't let the camera tilt you, just get that addon in the Workshop and you're sorted.
I hope the devs give the creator(s) of that mod some kudos because truthfully, without it I'd have refunded and from my quick searches I'm not alone in this sentiment. I don't know why the camera was the one aspect the devs decided to try and be 'innovative' on, when the rest is a delicious copypasta and/or direct improvement from the RCT line and they did such a tremendous job on that.
even though I found this game really hard, It is really fun park building game and i had a lot of hours building the park to my liking and the multiplayer is amazing with my friends but it is hard for two or more people to share the same amount of money
Spiritual successor to Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 & 2. Has workshop support, recently added custom campaigns, great with friends!
Build a park make some crazy rides make a prison ride called "you cant leave unless we say" and have people on it for 40 years until it breaks down
Fantastic sim theme park game, best one since RCT3. It often feels like i am playing a new roller coaster tycoon with a more stylized art direction. Everything works fantastically from the building to the terraforming, UI is snappy and clean, the tutorial is very streamlined and teaches you how to play in 2 minutes. Playing co-op in a tycoon style game, especially such a high quality one is a fantastic chill experience. The only complaint i have is that i wish the day/night cycle was more gradual rather than immediately changing over to day or night. Would add a lot to the atmosphere of the game.
Fantastic 3d take on the old Rollercoaster Tycoon style gameplay. Improvements on every front including aesthetics, UI, management/strategy, and of course coaster building. Extensive mod support ensures longevity. Worth every penny at full price.
I love this game it is very fun! :) I really Recommend!
This is a great game. This is what every other theme park sim should strive to be.
Easy to understand.
Great graphics.
And my favorite thing of this game is the underground distribution system that really makes you think about how you design your parks.
Just plain great!
There`s absolutely nothing to complain about.. GREAT themepark-sim!!!!
oh wait.. these f****** vandals again! ARRRRGH!
Like theme park only better! I am still on a learning curve with building the coasters, wish there were some pre-built ones though.
this is the greatest game of all time. no hyperbole
Honestly? It's like "Roller Coaster Tycoon", but BETTER!
Without the massive game-breaking glitches and a clever concept, it's a fair but challenging experience that challenges you to be SMARTER with your budget...try to avoid loans if possible, so you don't end up having financial problems in-game!
With lots of replay value and being able to design roller coasters and some other rides, it also has Steam Workshop to help INCREASE replay value...being a gem for those who need a good alternative to the "Roller Coaster Tycoon" franchise!
it's the massive upgrade that roller coaster tycoon fans have been waiting for
