Fast start up in Zasa https://youtu.be/VhXBQOR-KmA
No windowed mode.
Im so fed up of this, every other game fails to include features that have been around since GUIs were invented.
If you cant not get _the most basic_ functionality working in a game then maybe pick a different career.

Zasa - An AI Story is a spatial puzzle game where you have to put a 2D image onto a 3D cube so that when the cube is opened it is the image that is shown. I finished the game in about 10 hours (this includes the time I took to get three stars for all the puzzles).
Overall, I enjoyed the game. It was simple, but it is also pretty challenging if you are going for the three stars. It really makes you think outside of the box. Bah-Dum-Tssh
This game has a small story to go along with it, but it primarily focuses on the puzzles and gameplay. There were times where I was absolutely stumped on how to do the puzzle for three stars, so I used the hints a few times. I wish that it would allow you to refresh your undos when you refreshed the puzzle (it only allows you about 3 or 4 undos per level), and I wish the hints didn't just give you a step by step for the answer, but these are things that I could live with when it came to playing.
If I could give this game a neutral review, I would, because it wasn't bad, but it wasn't exactly fresh or unique in a way that would be memorable. I would recommend this to those who are just looking for more challenging puzzle games and aren't expecting much else.
loved it :)
QUICK SUMMARY:
Zasa - An AI Story is a simple puzzle game that is a little rough around the edges, but is appropriately priced. If you typically enjoy challenging spatially-themed puzzle games, you probably won't regret purchasing this. I give this game a soft thumbs up. Enjoyed the challenge, but won't be playing it through again.
GAMEPLAY:
The gameplay consists of connecting dots on the surface of a 3d cube in order to replicate a picture represented on a flattened version of the cube. As you progress through the levels, you'll be given the ability to rotate the cube along the y-axis, which significantly increases the challenge of the puzzles. Your goal is to draw the image on the flattened cube in the minimum number of cube rotations possible, to achieve a 3-star ranking. You have the ability to take back up to three previous moves before you are forced to reset the level and try again. There are a total of 94 levels, and an Online Mode that unlocks after completing 20 puzzles. You have three "tips" available in the top right corner to use if you're completely stumped, and they will show you the complete solution for that specific level. Once these tips are used, they're gone, so use them strategically if you want to complete all 94 levels. I was awared one extra tip upon completing ALL levels at 3 stars. Woven through the gameplay is a badly translated sci-fi storyline displayed as text shown between levels - it doesn't really add a lot to the game, but serves as good comic relief between challenges.
GRAPHICS:
Not bad for a puzzle game, but quite simple. Did not have any issues shifting focus from the game window to my second screen, and the game ran fine without crashing on my R9 280X. Has the look and feel of a flash-based game.
SOUND:
The game is accompanied by an upbeat orchestral score, which eventually becomes tiring to listen to. It isn't bad, but there isn't enough variety for me to leave it enabled for the entire game. Thankfully, the game has the ability to turn audio off completely.
PROS:
- gameplay is challenging and exactly what you'd expect
- excellent test of spatial reasoning abilities
- price is fair, even better if on sale
- I was able to get a whole day's worth of playtime out of the game going for 100% completion
CONS:
- a minor bug: if you take back three moves but then restart the level, you don't get your take-backs back unless you exit to the level select screen and re-enter
- some of the later puzzles are ridiculously difficult. I had to use clues for levels 45, 84, and 87 to achieve the full 3-star ranking
- translation makes the story funny but confusing (I don't think that was the author's intention)
- no cards, no achievements, no multiplayer
Go forth and spin some cubes around!
A pretty relaxing and creative game for a small amount of money.
This game is just the kind of puzzle games that I like: demand you to think until you get an headache :D. I'm generally very bad in 3d so I find this game very challenging but the feeling: yea I finally did it right is more then enough to keep me playing :).
While the idea is really simple the play is fun, interesting and at some drawings are really challenging too, how to obtain the least steps for the 3 stars.
This, along with the witness, is one the best puzzle game I played this year. Simply rules but really difficult challenges. I'm still at level 45 but i already had to solve some levels using analytic geometry. I know this is like cheating, but I'm weak (Don't be like me, avoid maths)
This triggered a Norton Internet Security alert; SONAR.Heur.RGC!g186.
It removed the executable for me. Nice.
I was about to ask for a refund, then thought; what the heck, let's at least try validating my game files. Steam re-installed the missing file, and thereafter it ran fine. Hueristic scan? Schmuristic scan more probably.
Anyhow, Only a short way in, and it's already quite brain-melting. I suspect the 'idea' will get easier the more it's played. But I also expect the levels will get harder much more quickly.
Well worth the price if you like new kinds of puzzlers (well; I'd not seen anything like this before anyhow.)
Major gripe? That horrible sound effect used for drawing lines and (especially) when starting a level. It's like 10 seconds of fingernails on a blackboard all compressed down to 0.5s. Ouchy.
Zasa uses an incredibly simple concept to produce some surprisingly difficult puzzles.
You may have tried to do these puzzles before, where you must draw something on a grid without goign back over your lines, without raising your pen off the paper. This builds on it by getting you to visualize how things work on a 3-dimensional piece of paper, that you can freely rotate while keeping your pen still. This makes for some easy, and some very tricky puzzles, of which this game contains plenty.
There some dialogue/story going along with it, but I wasn't really following it too well. Play it for the puzzles.
This game is extremely difficult as you progress in.
At first, you're like: NO PROBLEM, EZ PEEZE
Then you're like: WHAT THE FUCK, IM NOT A COMPUTER MR DEVELOPER, HOW DO I FIGURE THIS SHIT OUT?
8/10 would scream again
87 cents and I already can tell that this is going to take a lot of processing power of my brain to finish all the puzzles in 3 stars.
Game rates you based on the number of rotations and moves you have done. and if you think 2D paper architect puzzles are hard, wait until you try this game where it tricks you do the tracing on a 3D rotatable cube but the image you are trying to solve is a 2D picture
Zasa takes two interesting puzzle concepts and blends them together for a pretty clever experience.
The main concept behind the puzzles is that you're inscribing lines between the nodes on a perspective-less cube so that when the cube is opened up the inscribed lines will match the pattern in the corner diagram. You can draw on whichever 3 faces are closest to the camera, but you can also rotate the cube (and the already-drawn lines with it) to access the other faces.
The first trick is thinking about how the finished image should look when wrapped around the cube. The second trick is that you can't "pick up" your pen. This in itself adds two factors of difficulty:
- You have to think about whether the shape has to begin at a certain node in order to be completed (you can't trace the same path twice)
[*]When you rotate the cube, the cursor doesn't move along with it. So if there's a linebreak in the puzzle, you have to plan the position of the cursor as part of your rotation.
There is some text-only narration between levels, and the dialogue is a bit stiff at times. I'm only a few dozen stages in, but it's solid so far.
