Wizard of Legend

This is a frantic action roguelite with a lot of content that's unfortunately a bit too short. Just when its getting good, it ends. It's still pretty satisfying for what it is, and it's wholly recommended. It has a lot of stuff to unlock for those that really like replaying over and over even if they cleared the game.

This game is so gamer.
I love the combat. Every move you make has to be made with confidence and timing. Get nervous and muck up a chance to dodge? That's big damage on you. But if you get into the flow, avoiding damage, and hitting enemies to unleash your signature is just- I could bust.
I love the pixel art as well. It's so simple yet it makes the action feel sharp and impactfull with the great visual effects. Some moves may look a little "Eh," but you can still tell there's a good chunk of effort put into it. It's all great.
Lore? Not much of it, but I love what's there. Virtuosos who paint and imbue magic onto cards, allowing wizards to create an assortment of combos for the Chaos Trials. The difference in skill with the Council of Magic not even requiring arcana, but being able to free cast.

I wanna say more, but no. Go play the dang game yourself.

Genuinely fun game, I think y'all would have tons of fun playing it. Worth the full price.

This, in my mind, is a perfect wizard game. It doesn't do EVERYTHING a wizard game could, but as a lover of rouge-likes and lites in all forms, this couldn't be better.

It has great style, great feel (probably use controller? idk i'm not your dad) and GREAT music. My favorite update to the game added a jukebox in the hub that you can use to switch the OST between 3 forms: The original, a saxophone-piano jazz duet, and a piano solo that's also pretty jazzy. They're all great.

Anyway, the actual wizard stuff - Wizard of Legend has you traversing the Chaos Trials in hopes of becoming the next, well, Wizard of Legend. You battle through three stages, chosen at odds between Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth, and Thunder, before facing the brutal Master Sura. Along your way, you pick up Arcana Cards, new moves and spells you get to employ using the very same five elements. The game has PLENTY of magic, and the vast majority is fun to use, and synergizes well with the other magics. Combat is fast, and the enemies are too, so it does take some getting use to in terms of quickly dashing around and onslaughting everything around you systematically. The game is quite hard at first, as most games of this genre are. If you're new to Rogue-likes or lites, this is a good place to start, but don't expect a LOT of hand holding.

You also find things like shops, cursed objects, and currency to unlock new things like relics to gain passive buffs, or new colored wizard outfits, each with their own small passive buff. If you can't guess by now, this game really wants you to build-craft, and oh boy, you will enjoy it.

This is not my all-time favorite game, but I love it so much that it is the ONLY game on Steam I have every achievement for. I highly recommend Wizard of Legend to anybody who likes Jazz, Wizards, Colorful stuff, Pinatas, Rogue-likes, Fast Action Games, and Fun.

This game actives your neurons, the art and the music are gorgeous, the sound makes you feel awesome and the gameplay is unparalleled, it makes you feel a badass and yet vunerable, most of your deaths are you own fault enphasis on the ''most'' and the fact that it has coop is amazing.

I found this game through a friend, and had a lot of fun. definitely will suggest to others, and I love roguelites and roguelikes in general, so I may be biased, but this one is awesome.

Great game. Lots of options for build variation, tiered difficulty as you progress, cool bossfights, tonnes of relic/outfit/spell combos and pretty charming graphics. Would recommend

Combat is incredibly addicting and intuitive, each boss (besides the wind fucker) feels very balanced and fair, (almost) every death is a genuine learning curve, and overall absolutely a 9/10

Deck building is amazing as there are a plethora of options however not every spell is made equal and the actual deck building part is anything but intuitive, stupidly difficult finding different combos that work after making one really good hand.
Also the hard mode is WAYYYY too steep of a difficulty spike, main game is pretty easy but the hard mode is just annoying and incredibly difficult to get used to.

What a game, what a game. Only way to make this game better is there to be more of it. Edge of your seat, all the time, endless action, SO many spell combinations. The fast pacing of the game is mastercraft. Truly just fantastic.

Wizard of Legend is a very charming top down dungeon crawler with tons of spells and styles of play. I actually have many more hours on this game than my profile shows since I played co-op on another friends steam account. But we absolutely loved this game in co-op. Unfortunately you would have to play local co-op like we did or use remote play. Game play is very tight and responsive and enemies and bosses are challenging. Definitely a recommend from me!

This game should run at sixty frames per second on my computer. It's a game with pixel graphics. But it doesn't. I hope that this game gets optimized at some point. If it does I might try it again. It looks very good but it has a technical problem that I easily notice

The gameplay is ok, but the music is on point for being AFK and playing in the background.

It has a creative concept for a roguelike that I find very pretty entertaining; fast pace combat, mixing/matching spells and stringing together combos. But there are downsides like with every game that held back my enjoyment for Wizard of Legend

- The enemies feel much stronger than player in both taking and dealing damage. Also enemies can combo you what feels like out of nowhere and there are a few enemies that can flash/teleport which is annoying
- Compared to other roguelikes the Items feel boring and as a result your runs lose that unique feel that you would get with Hades or binding of Isaac. Also items outside of the shop show no description for some reason
- This game is very clinical (more than it needs to be in my opinion) and if you're are not careful you will take significant amounts of damage, which isn't a position you want to be in as the heals in the game are light and sparse
- Outside of the Main bosses I feel the battle arenas are too small and don't always give room for manoeuvrability which is key for avoiding damage. Also the battle arenas have with pit falls are just the worst
- Dashing doesn't provide any I-frames which isn't that big of a problem to me but would be nice considering how hard you can get hit

Its a shame I cant recommend this game but its hard to enjoy with all the issues I've mentioned and I cant recommend a game I don't enjoy.

Good game for the price there is a small learning curve then the game gets fun

It's a hard game and we've barely beat the first boss - and that's take hours of play but my son likes it.

The game is just a satisfaction to play. It is fast paced and super fun with a buddy. I have 70 hours and i am still not bored.

Took me a couple of days to beat it, but my only question is...Why isn't magic this fun to play with in all the AAA RPG games. I've never played a game that had so many fun spells in the game. Other games have good spell systems but I don't think I have ever played one that was this fun. Well, I'm off to play the newly released part 2. Great Game. Can't believe I missed this jewel.

This game is amazing. With so many spells and cool artifacts, there is never a bull moment while playing. Warning, this game is very hard.

One of the very few games a 100% and loved every moment of it.

Most of the difficulty in the game comes from falling into spike pits because a good number of the platforms require close to TMNT on the NES level of perfection. Sometimes you get into a groove with it, and other times you lose 300 HP in a level, which is difficult to regain. It also doesn't feel great to be in a fast game with so many animation locking abilities.

If not for the imposed difficulty of kinda bad platforming and animation locks the game would be probably way too easy. Using these as the main source of difficulty though just doesn't feel good.

What a game, this game, maybe because it was my first roguelike, seems harder than souls games (sans sekiro and bloodborne) but I'm not sure. Regardless, I feel a tad lighter now that I completed the game. Magnificent.

Meh. Dead Cells, Hades and Skul do it better. Found all 3 very engaging and beat them all multiple times over. I wanted to like this game, and it's got creative aspects to it with the spells - awesome theme - but there isn't enough to it overall and the dungeons are boring. Could just be that it's not for me, but I'll give it a shot to see if it changes my mind.

EDIT: I figured my main gripes.

1 - Dodge doesn't give you i-frames
2 - You can get stunned by enemies to the point where they can combo the crap out of you sometimes.
3 - Mobility is key to make up for lack of iframes, yet to chain dodges quickly, you have to press dodge with a completely unnecessary and very specific timing kind of like in Hyper Light Drifter (which did not diminish the experience because you HAD i-frames). You need the dashes for the distance, not to dodge, so not being able to chain them without the annoying timing feels clunky.
4 - You're meant to stagger enemies and combo them with your spells. But enemies can just decide when they break out of hitstun and smash your head in before you can get full combos out. And they routinely turn on hyper armor that makes them unstaggerable, but at least that's overt.

This is just absolutely not my type of game. i-frames by default are indispensable to the flow of combat to me.

This game is just flat out fun. Nice variety of tools to use to create unique builds. Decent endgame to encourage you to continue to do runs. No real story to speak of, just perpetual rogue-likeing. Never encountered any bugs or crashing. The sound and graphics are good enough.

9/10 overall

A few minor gripes if any devs still read these.
- The run back after completing a run is annoying. Add a skip feature.
- I wish there was a stats screen so you can see the cumulative effect of items.
- Item sets in inventory, there doesn't seem to be a way to drill in and read the descriptions.
- I wish there was some indicator on store items if they belong to a set you already own.

really love how the gameplay feels in this game. IT IS SO DAMN FLUID AND RESPONSIVE!!!
Also there are so many different builds you can try, even when you already beat the game.

Awesome game. When I initially purchased the game I didn't know what to expect but it didn't click with me. I didn't try it again for years. This time it clicked and I couldn't stop playing it. The gameplay is awesome. I wish there was more progression than just unlocking spells and relics. I wish I could upgrade the spells or get more to enter the dungeon with. That would allow me to have more strategy rather than the random draw that rogue likes typically have. But thats an issue I have with rogue likes in general. Overall its super fun and a good challenge. The fact that dashing doesn't have invulnerable frames made it really hard to get used to for most of the time I have played. I know there are relics that add that but the one relic spot I have I had to use the vampire glasses. Which leads me to my biggest complaint. In a game with so many spells and items I really only found 1 build that worked. The one almost everyone uses. Its unfortunate. I hope that gets fixed in the sequel.
