An all but forgotten game with a measly 38 reviews, Hypersensitive Bob got the short end of the stick publicity wise. With little to no people experiencing this game, it makes sense it's been left in the past. This is a massive disappointment however, as the game has a lot of promise.
First off, the games pretty easy. I win at least 80% of my runs, so don't expect a difficulty level comparable to nuclear throne or Isaac. There isn't as much content as the previous two games either, with only 3 characters and two main bosses. The caveat is that the game is genuinely fun to play, once you get a hand of the controls. Your character feels a bit wonky to move, as if there was heavy momentum to it, which feels a bit better with more playtime. Besides that, there is a surprising amount of synergies and secrets. I have no clue what the story is really supposed to represent, besides bob having a lot of allergies. There's the occasional glitch and wonky hitbox, but I never lost a run to either of those issues.
It's a shame this game wasn't as popular as it could have been. A lot of the issues I stated could have been fixed if the game got more updates, but with no audience and no word from the developers for years I suspect it will never get another patch. However, for only 5$ I would recommend the game to any avid rogue lite fan, even if it's just to experience another game in the genre.
The controls get flipped.
Great Game.
Game finished until the last boss in 1,4 hour , no secret rooms , no mini bosses ,good variety of relics but not very interesting , no curses , no shops , no active items.. If i have paid like 5 euro I would probably feel robbed right now but for 60 cents you get what you paid for lol the visuals are nice , the music nice but repetitive (there is only one loop) and it was fun for the 1,4 hour that lasted :P
I love this game. After a couple playthroughs, you unlock enough purchasable powerups that most following playthroughs become easy, allowing more powerups to be unlocked, making future playthroughs easier, and so the cycle goes. However it's still luck based on which powerups appear for purchase between the levels, so you can still find yourself forced to get by on some challenging, odd combinations. Or you can use Billy. Or you can just not buy any. :)
But who can complain about getting all sorts of inhaler powerups, and finishing the boss of the game in two or three screen filling, rapid fire shots while thinking about the first battle and slowly chipping away at him with the little peashooter version of your inhaler?
It may not be for everyone, but it's certainly the small, quirky, artsy indie game that is right up my alley.
he has PERMA LIGMA
I get a little excited by the comparisons with Bind of Isac *really loved that one!
But.... unlikely... there is no story telling at all, The game starts without even a decent Main Menu...
Its really confusing...
Nothing is explained...
the itens you pick doesn't seen to have any use...
Even the health points doesn't make much sense...
Just confusing...
Normally I would sit down and spend a bit of time making an entertaining review even if the game is horrible. But in this instance I'm going to put as much effort into the review that the developers have put into this game. They didn't even bother with a main menu and the gameplay is as shallow a puddle. To call this a rogue-like is a joke since the only comparison is that you go to random platforms over and over, get random enemy spawns and choose power-ups after stage is completed. Go play something like Cargo Commander instead, at least they bothered to even
Super fun game! Very much like binding of isaac but more colourful. I would recomend a controller, but to each their own. Also it's more fun to say "hypersensitive boob" than "...bob." All in all, fun. 5/7, would play again.
So I completed this game after 4 tries. It's not particularly hard, and the successful run took about 30 mins.
I guess for $5 that's not bad. You can play a bit more to unlock other characters, who play a bit differently, but the levels are the same.
Overall, it's a pretty decent game. The pace is slower than a lot of similar games. You move slow and have to aim to fire. There is no bullet hell, though you do need to dodge.
Great little game (Y)
Good game have fun and have low cost $ +new update
Game is fun enough and has a nice art style, game plays similar to Binding of Isaac. I feel it does some aspects better, things like the items: their powers, getting them, having a choice at the end of a round if you can afford it, etc.
Pros:
+Easy on the eyes
+Quite easy to learn, yet difficult to master
+Seems to play well without issues
+Decent item variety
+Easy to understand stats (fire rate, damage, crit chance, movement speed, etc nothing cryptic like 'The Ring of Jeshire shall bring you great fortune!' and it really means you gain a little bit of crit chance, but it never says this so you always think you get more money. Or, 'The Hood of Dodongus will take you bowlink with your cousin on tuesdays' who the hell can even guess what stat something like that would bring? Nah, no need to deal with that bullshit here. Just SMART items such as 'Surgery: Gain double damage, but lose 1 HP at the start of every round' and (memory is failing me, this probably isn't exact) 'Fireworks: +20% fire rate'.
Cons:
-Game is either a walk in the park, or ball achingly hard. There is no in-between. Pray to RNGeesus and he might deliver unto you.
-Seems like there is never enough in game currency to go around, unless you get a certain item which takes your health down to 1 but gives you money at the start of each round.
-Game is fairly short
-Controls feel somewhat clunky and cumbersome or sluggish, sort of like having play in the steering wheel of your car. You turn it and it doesn't do anything for a half turn, but then eventually the car reacts and it starts to turn. Speed up items fix this feeling of slop, but the game still shouldn't feel so much like a run down $400 beater you bought for winter.
TL;DR: Game is pretty fun, just give it a chance.
I like the design and the theme. The game is fun. I think the controllers are a little bit counter intuitive. I would like to shoot where Bob is pointing
Honestly one of the most artsy addictive and simple games that has some replayability and every journey is different. 10/10 ign would marry bob
here is a review with as much meaningful content as the game being reviewed
I originally bought this because I saw a quote somewhere that said this is what Binding of Isaac would be like if Disney made it. Well, I have to say, while there are similarities between the games, this one certainly has created an identity for itself that is completely different from Isaac. I quickly realised that while it may seem bright and cheery on the surface (due to the cute graphics) there is definitely a darker undercurrent to the game.
When I first bought this, I played maybe 15mins and hated it. I found moving very difficult and felt like the whole game was lagging somewhat. I tossed it in a corner for a few months until recently I decided to give it another shot. I'm so glad I did.
I honestly don't know why people are complaining about the controls being clunky. Not only are the key bindings essentially the same as that of Isaac but the shooting and movement are fine for base stats seeing as there are actually items that affect these.
Pros:
- Easy to pick up
- Nice graphics
- I really like the Idea of using 'vaccine' to purchase items
- replayability (each playthrough is different)
- I also really like the vaccine machine and unlocking certain items through levelling it up
- I like how you can have the same level layout but get different enemies appear either when respawning in the same playthrough or in different playthroughs
What it still needs:
- More enemies
- More bosses so you don't fight the exact same bosses in every playthrough
- more levels: if you play it a few times you start to see the same level layouts over and over, more variability in these at each stage of the game would be great.
- more Items: because who doesn't think a game could use more items?
- Maybe more characters you can play as?
Overall, I'd give it an 8/10 and would definitely recommend it.
4.5/5 because I couldn't taste the salami. Otherwise, a pretty good game.
