Cool game.
Rock-N-Rogue: A Boo Bunny Plague Adventure 7/10
Heisen
While i loved the first Boo Bunny Blague, this is a piece of SHITT.
Starting with an uncalled for genre-change, continuing with stupid controls (both mouse clicks to move), power orbs not collectable, missing humour, and plectrums which use is not explained. Were the developers braindead upon creation?
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
A Boo Bunny Plague Adventure sounds nice.
Especially for those, who played the original.
I absolutely loved that first Boo Bunny game.
Music in there was great, story was so funny.
Even the boss fights and everything, so nice.
And therefore: I was hyped to try this sequel.
Sadly: The quality went a bit downhill in this.
The voice actors are still fun, dialogues okay.
I'd say that even the music is still quite good.
But the gameplay here was a big downgrade.
It seems a lot less polished and thought out.
Dying forces you to backtrack emptied level.
I have no idea why there aren't checkpoints.
Boss fights can be instakilled with power up.
Enemies are often copypasted in tight areas.
And the story itself is also just much weaker.
The first game was truly great, this just isn't.
For the low, low price of 1,59€, I did enjoy it.
Sadly, It for sure felt a bit disappointing, tho.
Most people probably won't enjoy the game.
I'd recommend playing that first one instead.
This one will get an honest, negative review.

The Review
This is worst than the first game. Not only do this have all the same problems as the first game but it has a whole host of new problems. This game has no Vsync and no way to change resolutions. The gameplay is tedious and combat feels like a waste of time. The story does not continue from Boo Bunny Plague very well and the dungeons are not fun. Terrible game.

You hate to see a sequel that's worse than the original. Rock and Rogue takes itself less seriously, the writers have less confidence in the jokes (i.e. they point out/explain most of them), and they made the gameplay (which consisted of hitting things a lot) even more repetitive. Even the songs aren't as good. What happened to getting like 4 or 5 bands to make tracks for the game? At least this isn't Curse of Nordic Cove.
Repeititve. The first game was a masterpiece, this not so much. I don't know why they chose the top down route.. If it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it..
I just cant... The original Boo Bunny Plague Game is a nice game with some decent comedy and alright gameplay for what it is. The Comic i got with it is really nice too. However this game is honestly just not as good as it could be. The controls are a clunky fucking nightmare matched with very boring gameplay. The audio is also super loud and the only option is to mute them. Im sad to say the game just isnt worth it
I enjoyed the first game very much so learning this existed got me excited. However with no option to reduce the already...nice graphics, I may never hear the ridiculous things Bunny has to share. So until an option to adjust the graphic options arrives I can't recommend this most likely entertaining experience.
I am writing this review in the hopes that the creators of Boo Bunny Plague will see it and improve this game or move on and make a true sequel to the original game.
I am also writing this review right after playing through the first level and second level as Bunny.
Pros:
- nice customization.
-Improved Graphics
-Nostalgic dungeon crawler beat em up type gameplay
- An other story with the lovable characters
Cons and Stuff to fix:
There is quite a lot wrong with this game that brings it down from being good to decent to bad and maybe even awful.
- The framerate and flow of the game is constantly dropping especially when only a couple of enemys are on screen. This is not my computer and I know this because I have one of the best graphics cards there is. My computer runs games like Steep, For Honor, Tekken 7, EA Battlefront 2 flawlessly.
- This game is also scaled terribly with no options to fix it, You have to use your computer commands to fix it. A lot of the game is cut off screen when launched making it impossible to see certain parts of the hud and making it off center. (btw if you have this problem then just press LALT + ENTER and it should fix it)
- The only option is just to turn off music.
- The mini map is now off screen because of this, making it hard to navigate.
- On top of that The camera is not the worst, but definitely could be way better such as having it controllable like in the first game.
- The controls are nice, but unresponsive due to the framerate issues everytime a few enemies enter the screen. Either bunny keeps on swinging or doesnt swing at all sometimes.
- I dislike the new design to the hud, I liked the first games health bar and shield bar. The problem with it is that I don't know when I am getting hit now. In the first game bunny would say something and you would hear a metal donk and it would say -1 or something, but in this game there's almost no indication.
- One thing I hate is when you die because the game starts you all the way back at the very beginning. No checkpoints in the levels. So if you are far into a level and die, you have to run all the way back to the point you were at.
- The boss fights in this game have lost the charm of the first game. There are still fun songs to accompany them, but the gameplay does not work as well as it did in the original.
- The enemies will often freeze in animation when you kill them instead of falling to the ground like they are supposed to
-It is very repetitive unlike the first game which had many different and unique levels, but I can overlook that if they fix the other major issues because most beat em ups and dungeon crawlers are.
Overall this game has much potential to be decent without these framerate and scaling issues. And it could be a good and enjoyable game without all the other issues, but it is unfoutnately almost unplayable and not enjoyable as it currently is. A shame because I really loved the first game and I really like the characters and humor. I would love for this game to be fixed and become as good as the original too. That or have a true sequel with Pestilence and Death as the main antagonist who captured Mom and now the new and improved golden Bunny must save Mom and go through a bunch more vikings or some other type of enemy and more wacky levels and bosses.
-Edit-
After using the command to fix the scaling and resolution issue, it actually is a pretty fun game. The above is just constructive criticism for the developers.

If You Like Dungeon Beat Em Ups and The wacky humor of boo bunny, I now recommend it :3
It's alright
Loved the first Boo Bunny, (Do recommend you get it)
However this one....not so much.
I did like it, just not as much as i hoped.
Although the game is short, it's is...lacking.
This might be from the fact it's very arcadish in design, however the game doesn't move fast enough to warrant this and becomes a slug as you go on. A multiplayer mode could have fixed this however there isn't one.
Where to start?
The Story:
Basic Plot: After 2 kids berate them, Boo Bunny and Co. enter a competition against other bands for a magic wish.
The story doesn't really have anything to it, it just rides along till it ends. Not developing or doing much un-like the last game. Except for the end where i was pleasently surprised before it did another 180 and just went somewhere else.
The boss's for the other bands sadly arn't much. If the story had each of the boss's as part of one band and you versed each member seperatly it could have been better.
The Meat:
A good part of the game is spent going through 2 levels between boss's killing or running past cannon fodder that has no real purpose. Levelling up, from finding items only, grants health and special usage but it's somewhat redundant when the specials do almost the same thing as basic hitting. So in a way, progress doesn't really exist in the game besides getting to the end of the level, by either running past everything or slowly clearing the floor.
And in a weird twist, the boss's go down easier than the cannon fodder. Theres also a good amount of nothing happening in the levels. If there where puzzles or quests or something just to fill the excuse for the long levels besides get from A to B with hordes of cannon fodder. But repitition is what you'll face.
A Multiplayer mode would have done the job as well breaking up the repitition or speeding it up.
There's also no real reset for failing in the game unless you pick the "rouge" option which limits you to one go. If you do fail on the normal difficulty, prepare to re-walk the level to where you failed. Filled with no cannon fodder now since you removed them.
Same goes for boss's, if you fail oddly enough the fight doesn't reset.
The Controls:
If you do get this, FOR BOO BUNNY'S SAKE, use a controller. If you use a mouse and keyboard you'll end up with your character attacking everything nearby. (Yes i know theres a button to stop that from happening but it never worked)
Other things i came across where the characters unresponsivness at times to move or attack. Also found the hud to be in the way when not using a controller and trying to walk around.
Other Characters:
This is a great addition and pretty cool. Sadly the lack of a multiplayer mode could of made this better.
Music:
It's good, but somewhat lacking from the first game.
Humor:
Felt more refrential this time around towards other things, Not saying it wasn't bad, but about more than half of it is refrencing to other things.
Other:
Camera Angle was not the best, stuff behind the walls closest to the camera couldn't be seen.
To sum it up, It's a mini condensed top down hack and slash, which if you have the patience for (lots of) repitition and want something to blast away the afternoon, will be a great blast for 3-5 hours.
I was a fan of the original and am really really happy with this follow up. The diablo-ish style is just a lot more fun for me. I play with a steam controller and the controls are intuitive and easy to get a handle on.
This is a fun and fast smash and loot style game with a rockin sound track but it still has a story. I am looking forward to seeing this iteration of the Boo Bunny title grow and hope that it gets DLC or follow up versions in the years to come.
This is a good offering by an indy label that is growing and learning and in my opinion has some good material ahead of them.
Disclaimer: I have been friends with (the art director) MotoDestructos wife for like 15 years.
if you haven't played the original Boo Bunny Plague, stop what you are doing and go buy that first. You'll know the story and you'll get to love the characters, and you'll see the huge growth from this indie company. There are of course some kinks but that'll be fixed in the first couple of weeks after release, once the devs finish whipping their QA's unmercilessly. This game is so much like the original Boo Bunny Plague because it has the same heart, the characters you love, the music, and the humor...BUT they made it ten times more playable! They listened to the complaints they got from Boo Bunny Plague and made this glorious gem! I like that you can play the different characters! That was my big complaint from the first one. I especially like Faye's special little demon she summons to help her out . The music is awesome, of course. HELLO MC CHRIS!? .
Update:
The falling off does indeed kill you ratherr than leave you in a void, that did however show another thing that's got me very torn...you get sent back to the start and there are no enemies around, you just run back to where you were.... (a bit boring but iwhen falling off world is fixed this will be a non-issue...)
Which put me back at the start and I decided to just stand around and a 30 sec. attack from an enemy took about10% of my health so I ran past him, killed 6+ others around me with a single strike, got the first two bigger minions attacking me and it still took them about three strikes to ill me when I was at half health and did nothing to protect myself or kill them.
Love the start music, it's great for any metal/punk type of a bloke, unfortunately it is also the only thing you'll get from the game in it's current state.....
So to start and to get the ugly out of the way, This is a spinoff/sequel to the last game, "Boo Bunny Plague." Which was a buggy, so-so, third person hack n slash game. If you looked at gameplay alone, it probably wouldn't gain too much of your interest.
BUT, the game was genuinely funny and really charming, with a lot of self-aware humor. On top of that, a really amusing soundtrack to boot. Like I said, it wasn't going to win awards but it was certainly entertaining. And this new installment much like that too.
Save for this time, they've taken a more traditional top-down dungeon crawler approach. If you go in expecting Diablo level quality, you'll be disappointed. But for a small indie developer? It's a really nice evolution from the last game and you know they want to improve. And their unique sense of humor is still present and amusingly goofy.
And if you did play the last game, you'll be happy to see other characters be playable and see more from them.
It does have its problems. In my short time with it so far, it has been a little buggy and sometimes things don't trigger like they should ( ihad a cutscene audio start up but I was still stuck in ganeplay.) So I won't say it doesn't have flaws.
But there's far worse out there that's made by people who care way less. There's a lot of heart put into these two games and I highly reccomend giving them a little support.
also, MC Chris makes an appearance as a boss character.
