The absolute best of the Ravenhearst games.
As a very disappointed fan of the series it's hard for me to say it but don't buy this game - it crashes A LOT! Although a great story, really creepy and filled with great puzzles - it's simply broken and barely playable.
I remember playing this game as a kid and absolutely loving it so I decided to replay it. To be honest, the story still stands as one of my favorites in the series. I consider the level designs to be among the best, as they help the player understand the antagonist's gradual descent into madness by forcing the detective to relive the core memories that caused Charles's trauma.
One of the things I'd dare to call a flaw was the shift from the classic hidden objects to identifying changing objects instead, which led to most of the hate toward this game. ( understandable tho )
I'm giving it a positive because it was fun, but this is also a frustrating game on several levels. As HO games go, it's along the more contrived and arbitrary lines of logic, sometimes leading to angrily clicking on a locked box with a pickaxe going "IT'S WOOD, JUST BREAK IT" while the game patiently waits for you to locate the item it WANTS you to pry it open with.
I also had a lot of problems with the game crashing out when I moved too fast or did something unexpected, either red-screening or entering a state where it failed to register input and I had to restart it. On a couple of occasions I couldn't even exit out of the game and had to restart the computer completely!
But like. I got five hours of entertainment out of it, the puzzles are generally at least engaging, and I'll probably play it again in three years.

I loved it! Very spooky, good puzzles.
The story of this game is great, but with the constant freezing up and having to close the games well over 10 times just to continue on I cannot recommend this game as it makes the game play super frustrating. I don't know why this one is so bad compared the the previous 2 games as I had no issues with those.

Mystery Case Files: Escape from Ravenhearst, is of course a really great game and I had no problems playing it in Windows 11. There are some disturbing parts, even disturbing to adults, but remember, it's a game, not reality. This game was a real project to produce and the quality shows, a very thorough gaming experience that doesn't leave you disappointed or unsatisfied.
