vrAMP is the definitive music visualizer and player for virtual reality.
No need to move your music into yet another media player, vrAMP plays music from any program or web browser. You can even use the in-game Steam web-browser to play music. Simply pause the included catalog of music and begin playing your own.

Controls:
- Center - Play/Stop
- Left - Previous song
- Right - Next song
- Down - Toggles effect transitions
By default vrAMP will transition itself with changes to the music. You can press Down to freeze the transitions and keep the effect, pressing it again will resume default behavior.

I love this! Different designes dance to the beat of your music. I hope there will be morw content in the future?
at first I thought it's not polished enough
- You can't choose music in app (you have to go on desktop, not rly a problem tho but would be convenient to have a menu)
- You have to alt tab to deactivate ingame music which is a bit weird (but maybe I understood that wrong)
- You can't choose an animation for the effects around you (you have to deactivate the cycle and you can't force to cycle, you have to wait for effects you like and maybe then the music has ended already)
It got like 6 Pencils and two effects "smudge" and "eraser" self explanatory I guess.
I played it once it was nice, the second time I thought not much to do but still nice, I mean it's a small application and I knew that so..
but then I came up with the idea to paint my room, flat pencil for the walls, desks, tables, displays, bed etc, cubes as outline for these, round for the lamps and stands of the base stations, that was a nice experience.
So it would be cool to have an idea book for things one can draw (suggestions), definetly more tools, for example relatively easy to achieve..
there is a pencil that's different than the others, it has a rainfall effect, would be rly rly cool to have that but upwards
or in general a lot of other pencils
So that would be cool. :D

-Being able to choose the world animations
-color select maybe
-adjust setting like how strong the music got an influence
-so in general a menu with settings
-Idea book/suggestions
-other worlds or world effects, I would like a tunnel throught that you fly or a deep fall, but drawing should be disable in these maybe?
Would be great to actually be able to create stylised art, there are pixels you could use to make a retro gaming drawing, but not rly because it's not accurate enough I would say, but don't know how hard that would be to achieve, would just kinda widen the audience being not just an equalizer but also art program,
But yea a menu would be nice. 5€ are completly okay, it's the users thing to make it enjoyable for themselves, I bet there are lot of other ideas you can realize inside the game I haven't thought about yet.

Lots of potential, but not quite there yet (and it probably never will be).
vrAMP has all the building blocks for a really great VR experience. It's very pretty and some of the music visualization is excellent.
I also enjoy that I have brushes to paint with, even if the brush types are kind of weird looking. That said, let me point out my criticisms:
- Visualizations are pretty basic at the core. Currently it only seems to be a particle effect and some glowing shapes on the floor. They're cool but they're basic.
- You cannot pick your own media files to play in game. You have to alt-tab to play from your own media player and that's kind of a no-no in VR.
- The visualization doesn't seem to interact that well with custom music. Sometimes it'll hit it just right and make a really cool effect at the right time but other times it'll just be the "snowing" effect during the high point of a song.
- It seems to be generating visualizations on the fly rather than scanning tracks and creating them beforehand. As nice as it is to let people just play music off their browser, you lose some of the accuracy achieved by predetermining the high/low points and overall mood of a song. There's a reason I consider Audiosurf one of the best music visualization games out there, and it's because it generates the environment ahead of time.
- A lot of time feels like it's been wasted on the included tracks. This is purely speculation, but it feels like the included tracks have choreographed effects when compared to my own music. This feels unnecessary since, let's be honest here, nobody buys these games to play the tracks they come with. It's all about the user's own music.
- On a similar note, it appears that almost half of this game's filesize is taken up by the included music. Please don't waste space on my computer.
- The visualization seems to happen around a small area, so I can't lay down and watch effects go around me unless I stare at one specific spot.
[*]A nitpick, I couldn't get the "alt-tab to play your own music" message to go away and it breaks some of the immersion.
Overall, a basic game with lots of potential. Originally, I gave this game a thumbs up because I hoped it would reach that potential once finished, but the last update was in 2017 so it's safe to say this game is abandoned. Don't waste your time or money.
t will make the worst music fun to listen to for many seconds....... then you put on stuff you like and fun goes on so about 2 hours. Then you take a break. It's that good.
I like a lot about this. Something I would like added is a list of what kinds of music work well with this. Some songs I've listened to only light up the floor. Also more coloring options. The ability to choose songs from in the game. Being able to go to the next song on the pc without having to manually select the next song on the pc.
I downloaded my first .MP3 in 1999 from Napster and used WinAmp and its slick visualizers for YEARS. I was so stoked to find this available for VR, it is a MUST HAVE for any music lover!!! It's my favorite way to listen to music!
VrAmp has always been the best music visualizer. I also like Dimensional Intersection but that's a different experince being fractal based. But now with the reworking of the floor and the addition of a full spectrum of colors being added to the particles, it's better than ever. It also has some simple tools for drawing which react to your music as well, giving a chance for some interaction and to be creative. I like to put on my own music then do a mix of viualizers and games that work with my personal library of music and it would not be as good without VrAmp. Buy it.
Needs improvements like working with itunes, Winamp, Ect. and needs more effects a settings menu for quality control and overall, needs improvement. Sorry not to rip on this but, it just needs to be better.
For a "definite music visualizer and player for the HTC Vive" this has extremely few visualizations or effects in general. The one main visualization doesn't even respond to the music very interestingly, as far as I can tell it is just the brightness pulsating with the beat and nothing else.
For £10 I expect a hell of a lot more, even in early access. Yet another overpriced VR demo. This does very little that you can't already do with Tilt Brush's audio reactive mode.
Cool program for visualizing music, but was disappointed as I purchased it to play classical music and it seems to be having trouble making visulizations for the specific stuff I'm listening to. Tried stuff with more beat and worked fine.
I thought this was very cool but please do something about the skins for the remotes. I feel like they take some of the immersion out of it with them being so ugly. I think it would be more appropriate to have maybe some fancy tech like gloves or something.
This is the ultimate chill VR experience. Listening to my own tunes and experiencing a visualizer lightshow from the inside. VR style. What's not to love? I would love to see more content eventually but this was definitely worth the money.
I have a Rift CV1 and Touch isn't out yet but I still love this. I look forward to Touch and trying brushes. After a few songs, the particle effects seem the same and I hope for extreme variations in the future like Winamp effects. However, I grabbed this on sale and it's still early access so I'm confident this is only the beginning. :) Love it.
I love this thing. Yeah, it may not be perfect yet, but the dev is dedicated to improving it. Definitely the best experience of any visualizer out there. Also check out the beta. It is pretty great.
If you're looking for a more VR focused music visualization than the milkdrop plugin in virtual desktop, this is it. It is by no means perfect but it has a tonne of potential. The updates seem pretty regular and the devs engage with the user base. As long as this app gets the TLC it needs(which seems to be the case so far) then it could become one of the killer VR apps one day. Just know what you're getting into before you purchase, it's "Early Access" for a reason.

This is the best VR experience I've had yet. I'm a very visual person, so I've always had a hard time getting a deep experience of music. Laying down with ambient music like Maggie Rogers or John Frusciante dancing around me is one of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had.
I truly look forward to how this evolves over time. There is lots of room for improvement, but this is a great start.
If anyone feels too crowded by the effects, I'd recommend laying on the floor and at the edge of your play space. Having the center area a couple of feet ahead of you is much better than being inside of it.
Really cheap quality visualizations and definitely not worth the money. You'd expect them to want to maximize the power of the graphics card but it seems this could run on any crappy pc. Only reason to buy it is because it's the only thing out there of the kind right now but someone needs to make something better.
UPDATE: I still stand by my review...even more so now. These Devs are dedicated and actually listen to the community feedback, respond quickly, and most amazingly update often. How far this app has came from when it started have greatly surpassed my ideas and expectations.
Alot of people are over reacting about the price and amount of content of the application, but I believe its worth every cent, yes its sparse for early access but they want our feedback starting from the ground level. Here is basic functionality of what we want to make...What direction would you like to see it go, what features would you like to see added. Great job Devs it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to do these kind of things. Lets make this an awesome VR experience.
Great Room scale Music Visualisation, with HUGE potenial.
This thing BLEW MY MIND.
It is ONLY Early access and i cant wait to see all the layers of detail added to the visualisations in the near future. Including touch and control triggered effects (maybe transitions triggered by head moment etc., possibilites are exciting)!!!!
The beat detection has improved heaps since release and works great with my Spotify playlists. The effects wash around you and form in front of you in time with the music. There are waves and swirls and it is a sight to see.
I'm buying a copy for my friend and i cant wait to see the next update!!!!

I'm super excited about the idea of a VR music visualizer, but this is disappointing. You can't browse for music in-app (you have to use the VR web browser or desktop tab), and the visualizer is basically a few particle effects that seem to have almost nothing to do with the music. I know this is early access, but this is sparse even for an early access title.
