I have a few feelings about Furi. Mostly positive. If you buy it on sale, like I did at $3.99 in April 2025, it's absolutely worth it. I probably wouldn't recommend it at full price. The game is a few hours long and it is very difficult. Some of the difficultly is satisfying to overcome and some of the "bullet hell" difficulty is just frustrating. Gameplay is where this game really shines. It's unique and satisfying. It's a "boss rush" style game, meaning there is ONLY bosses. Each level is a new boss to beat. The music is phenomenal. The story is pretty bad if I am honest, and the unskippable walking scenes between bosses can sometimes go on a bit too long. You'll be spending most of your time in the boss fights, learning the bosses attack patterns and how to beat navigate them. Overall, it's still a good game and a good time to play.
This game is amazing. The art, music, voice acting, and especially the bosses are all super memorable. Furi is the only game that has truly satisfied me — I was always excited to see what kind of boss I'd face next, what new mechanics they'd bring, and most importantly, what kind of art and music would accompany each stage. I was completely hooked and genuinely impressed.
Recommended !!
finished it under 4 hours, this game is SO FUN, has to be one of my top 10 fav indie games of all time, despite the short gameplay, the combat is so fun, satisfying parries, epic fights, cool bosses design, every bosses is unique and don't feel repetitive at all!! the ost is so nice, i can hear this all day while fighting these bosses in one run, underrated, i wish i could introduce this masterpiece to more people out there
good game, great music
Really fun game! I love myself a good boss fight, and all of the bosses were well designed and a lot of fun! It gives you a good blend of melee and bullet hell combat that you are frequently switching between.
The OST also goes crazy and I've been listening to it on Spotify even when I'm not playing the game. It's very good.
My biggest gripe is I wish there was a way to skip walking between the boss fights, or at least if the game gave you something else to do while moving to the next boss fight. The scenery was pretty though and that's when you get most of the story of the game told to you.
Overall it was a very fun game though! I may have to go back and do some of the extra content.
This game wants you to treat it as an art, something to perfect, and by the time you do you'll feel completely unstoppable. Every boss has the same weight as the last in any other game, the build up to each one makes you EAGER to see what they have to offer you.
The jailer is the key, kill them, and you'll be free.
Everything about this game, from the gameplay and soundtrack to the storyline, is amazing. A true masterpiece. The best indie game of all time imho.
It can be really short (like 2 hours at max) after ur first playthrough but it's worth playing it over and over just to master and learn the boss fights and experience the cutscenes and the soundtrack again. Gameplay is also very smooth and it never gets boring. It has a very unique kind of storytelling but it just works. Story is very open to interpretation, but nevertheless, it's beautiful and touching.
Amazing game, no notes, graphically just okay but a very nice style nonetheless
negative reviews have clear skill issues
recommended - yes but only on a sale, not worth $20
had been meaning to play this for years as it was a cult hit on the ps4, but it didn't go on a deep discount till recently for $4.
its a game of (mostly enjoyable) boss fights with weird walking simulator portions in between.
very strong audio-visual aesthetic and experience, gotta love japanese inspired french art!
don't plan on doing the "furier" difficulty but i do want to check out the bonus DLC boss
Beats to relax/slow walk/bully bosses to 🎧
Replayed this game 4 years after my first run. Super satisfying and enjoyable in all aspects and has one of the most bad🅰ss credits sequences I have experienced in a game. Absolute banger.
Good game but they managed to totally nosedive it in the end with the final boss. ''Yeah lets make the final boss all about bullet hell in a game with an isometric perspective'' said no one ever
There are many games like Furi, before and after its release, but when Furi came out it set a standard. If you were going to take a dive into this genre of hack and slash bullet hells and ask for the price of this game or more, this is the quality of game you better have been bringing to the table.
Coming back to it today, I feared that the market may have grown too over saturated with this kind of game, but it pleased me to feel refreshed and motivated to play through the rest from the moment I picked it up.
Whether you're a newcomer looking for the next great experience in these kinds of games or a returning player hoping to relive that first experience, Furi holds the test of time almost 10 years later.
It's quite good and not too long. Worth it for at least one playthrough or if you're looking for a game challenging to 100%
It's pretty good.
Fluid and fast the gameplay is fun. The voice that talks to you in between fights is soothing. The music is also very empowering. Though the game may feel a bit unintuitive at the start versus the tutorial boss, but after that it doesn't really get that much harder (talking only about the base game), which says something. The game is significantly less fun when it takes away the gameplay. The walking segment is interesting but gets boring after the first few times. 7/10
good music, bosses, everything. my favorite game.
One of my top 10 all time fav games Just beat the star tonight and will tackle hard mode next! Don't miss this absolute banger!
It was fun but there was a lot of bvII$hlt.
Banger music and banger gameplay
One of the best indie games I've ever played, incredibly gratifying combat that is hard to learn and harder to master but god is it satisfying when you do. An absolute recommend for players who love being challenged and mastering a game's mechanics to the peak of their ability.
Also paired with one of the best game soundtracks to date.
Every couple of years I come back and do another run on this game, the game play is so satisfying and there is no filler in here. The soundtrack is absurdly good.
Meh, the combat is ass and the classic walking slowly to where you have to go is really boring. Repetitive. Boring in general.
AMAZING game! super recommend to anyone who wants a neat combat.
Honestly I was expecting a lot of things with all the hype this game has gotten. But I cannot for the life of me fathom, how this is entertaining, let alone an amazing game to so many.
The bosses feature multiple health bars split between shooting and melee phases. Both of which feel very unsatisfying and lack sounds and hit feedback. Some of the gimmicks of these bosses are dreadful and are repeated way too often. You are also not allowed to attack whenever you can, but instead, whenever the boss permits you to, being invulnerable or jumping away a lot of the time. All of that with mediocre music and often seemingly mismatched or missing sound effects, feeling very jarring at times. And when you do finally take down a boss, you get to slowly walk (and do nothing else besides that) to the next one with a random guy spouting slow and mispaced exposition at you. The devs even put in an auto-walk feature because they know these sections suck. Why keep them in then?
If all of that has not convinced you, let me summarize the third boss for you:
He is presented as this old monk, meditating and wearing pink headphones for some reason, who constantly throughout the fight says things like "you are fighting yourself" to you. Keep that in mind.
for the first health bar, he is surrounded by three layers of walls, which reflect your projectiles back at you while you are damaging them. It takes a little while to get rid of them, but also every once in a while he shoots an untelegraphed wave of fire towards you, so you can't just sit there shooting. If you land one shot on the boss, the phase ends.
After that he becomes immune, surrounding you with rings of projectiles, you have to dodge at the perfect moment.
Then jumps onto a very tanky pillar you have to destroy with more waves of fire and projectles being thrown your way, some of them blocking your shots with a hitbox 3 times their size. He then fills the arena with more balls and waves, then runs at you at which point you have to be ready to parry. If you do, he then has 2 more melee phases and all of that for a single heath bar. If you did all that, then... get ready... YOU DO EVERYTHING AFTER THE WALLS ALL OVER AGAIN.
Like I said, I really don't know why this has been recieved as well as it has.
Do yourself a favor: If you want a difficult game, that actually is fun and rewarding, buy yourself a Fromsoft game, a platformer like Celeste or Hollow Knight, or any rhythm game.
Boring, frustrating, repetitive, annoying. Just not fun having to do the same sequences with the first ??boss over and over, and it just sits there tanking most of your damage for half the fight. There is no build up to it, just suck it and see if you can put up with what feels like a boss, right from the start. UNINSTALLED.
blue face lady is terrible other than that great game
El juego es divertidisimo me encantan las peleas y lo cinematico del juego
the music slaps, the controls are weird at first but once you get use to them you will have fun parrying the bosses in close combat. i would 100% recommend this game if you have a controller to play with.
Try Furi: Demake The Chain on steam, it’s free and a love letter to this game I believe but in like a 2D NES/Super Nintendo version style from the developer. It should help you figure out how you might feel about this game.
Absolute banger, never been more addicted
furi is one of the best games ive played. the game is a boss rush with amazing combat and one of the best combat i ever tried in my life. game got a good art style as well. 10/10 would recommend to anyone
I don't play it that often, but when I do come back to it, it reminds me that it's my favorite game of all time.
One of my favorite soundtracks that comes with a fantastic game.
It's an excellent combination of Shmup and Action, in a beautiful Synthwave package. It is, for all intents and purposes, a boss rush. There is nothing but walking between each boss, but the game uses this time to give you exposition about the upcoming boss and drip-feed you info about the world and your own character as you take in the beautiful, varied landscapes and excellent soundtrack.
Furi is one of those rare gems that you just want more people to experience.
The whole journey is a simple boss rush-type experience on the surface, which brings a lot more to the table at a closer look.
Some of the strongest suits of Furi definitely are its gameplay consisting of a few versatile abilities which a player can combine to achieve truly great fits, and music composed by several well- and not-so-well-known artists in the genre.
Visual style completes the trinity of standout features.
In conclusion, incredibly solid game for people who want to give themselves a fair challenge with a great twist at the end
Honestly an amazing game all around. The story is great, the fights are fun, the soundtrack is awesome. This is definitely worth picking up.
Yea its kinda hard, but cup head makes this game look like mariokart in terms of difficulty. The projectile spam gets kinda boring after a while. Really the game could be summarized by : tough but fair.
10/10 best game
amazing combat
amazing music
good difficulty
great art style
needs a sequel.
Furi is a great game! I find myself coming back to play it to completion every so often since buying it in 2018. I wish more games like this or a sequel existed. Only fighting bosses is a cool concept that I've only ever seen Furi pull off with this style and atmosphere
The game wouldn't be complete without it's soundtrack. The game would be lost without it. It's one of my favorites of all time
A delectable collection of brutal ass-beatings, both given and taken.
amazing game i love touhou i love sekiro i love this game
Furi is a fantastic hack and slash/top-down shooter mash-up that is entirely a boss rush. Not only is the game aesthetically pleasing, but it also tests the players’ reaction time with its fast-paced nature. I would give the game points in its gameplay since it is challenging but also satisfying conquering all the bosses with their own unique fighting styles.
The game is short, and the veteran at these types of games could definitely beat it even faster, but for the price point (especially when it is on sale), it’s worth it to just experience the gameplay that it offers.
Story wise, it can get pretty obscure, since you need to play through it multiple times to get the full story, but the developers do leave out hints here and there to get you intrigue in finding out more.
I wholeheartedly recommend this game for a short burst of fun and if you’re looking for something challenging to try out.
Cool soundtrack, cool art, cool story and cool combat. At first I was a little bothered by the final boss being a bullet hell with no melee combat, but then I found that freaking dummy Bernard, the true final boss.
very nice, sick sound track
Very unique combat, enjoyable gaming experience.
Very difficult but very fun
This game is absolutely fabulous. You'd be missing out to not play it.
Furi is incredibly fun with challenging combat that oozes style. It's a boss rush wherein you take control of a silent, deadly protagonist who has been imprisoned for reasons unknown. You travel through various biomes, defeating your Jailers as you make your way to the surface of a planet from your prison in space. Each fight is broken into several phases with two main components; a zoomed out bullet hell followed by a period of intense, close quarter combat. Abilities consist of full directional movement, a dash-based dodge, parry, melee and ranged blaster attacks (both of which can be charged). Encounters are enhanced by an overarching narrative that adds flavor and supplies intrigue. The bosses taunt you in their own ways - some are ambivalent to you, some HATE you, some just want you to stop - which provides a yummy bit of narrative tension alongside the gameplay. In between fights is a period of downtime wherein a partner character adds world-building dialog that feels both expository and tantalizing; only by the end did it all click into place for me.
Furi was easy to learn with an obvious mastery curve. I felt myself getting better and better; by the end of the game I felt like a god (am likely not that good in the grand scheme of things, but I was having a great time). You look really cool without having to do complicated inputs. Movement feels fantastic; fluid, responsive, dangerous. And the music is *chef's kiss*.
I strongly recommend it.
On a scale of 1 to 10, it's an 11.
Scope creep is a problem for many prospective indie developers. Including too many wayward ideas in a game can doom it to never release in a finished state, so many games wisely choose humility and simplicity, and the industry is better for it. Furi, however, is not one of those games. It tries as hard as it can, despite its tiny studio, despite its essentially nonexistent budget, to be the coolest thing you have ever seen. In some areas, it genuinely succeeds at this. It is a beautiful, gratifying, emotionally driven game with a simple, yet thought provoking narrative, featuring one of the greatest soundtracks to ever exist. All that being said, the PC version has some nasty technical issues. I would recommend this game to just about anybody, but I would recommend it on console. That does not stop it from being one of the best games ever made.
Short but state of art game, with a good plot, mechanics and just great music.
too easy for a guy like me
I wish I could recommend this game but I can't it's just too expensive. Not the physical amount of money you spend the mental and emotional toll, and possibly the cost of the new controller. The price comes with the fact that once you beat it to completion hard techno is now your favorite music. You are now addicted to killing bosses as fast as possible as flawlessly as possible striving for perfection that is nearly unachievable. The guilt of taking the bad ending and killing that child to shave time off the speedrun and get a better score. Things like that are the real price you pay playing this game, but if you can pay that toll and enjoy super fast paced combat filled with graphene katanas, fully automatic laser pistols, and bullet hell dodging teleports you probably will love this game.
