Do you ever start a new game and you know/feel that this is THE game you will spend 1000+ hours in it? this is the one for me. For a competitive person like me this game will quickly become a drug trying to reach the top of the leaderboard

I LOVE "BAD GAME DESIGN BUT WORKS PAINFUL" GAMES!!!!
this game is hell eternal, i strongly urge you to join this cult like following. wallow in self pity as you try and fail over and over again to destroy these ravenous, unrelenting (and might i add ugly, pathetic, bitch-ass) creatures of the abyss. 20/10
Got it on sale for $3, but still not sure if it's worth it. I'm not understanding the high praise here. (to each their own)
This is an arcade-style arena shooter. 30-60 second rounds (longer if you're good). I played/restarted 8 times in 5 minutes of play time.
There's no progression, weapons, reloading, just survive as long as you can, as your score and timer goes up, there is a Score Board to help gauge your 'success'.
The playing field is a small 25x25m? flat "arena" surrounded by a pit. No environment, blackness. You can't jump.
I'm just not a fan of these 30-sec games. It very much reminds me of Post Void where they pack high-energy intense movement/gameplay in 30-second spurts. Die, repeat.

The endless legions of Hell have no mercy and expect none in return. I have really been enjoying this game and have decided that I am going to dedicate myself to getting the games only achievement: "Devil Daggers. Survive for 500 seconds." Once I have accomplished that task I shall finally rest.

A masterpiece
wow best game ever
Endless arcade game that gets harder and harder. Gameplay feels great. I love the unique spooky setting, although I can't endure it for prolonged time - too intense for me.
Seems simple but gets more complex the longer you survive. Get it on sale.

You might not know it yet, but this is probably better than most games in your library. It becomes a lot more fun once you get over the fact that you don't have a crosshair. Watching gameplay is impossible to appreciate without understanding the dance that is taking place. While chaotic, there are many moments the player is making conscious decisions that make all the difference in a run. I don't wish to spoil that though and I suck anyway. If curious, figure it out or look up a guide. It's deeper than "shoot fucking everything", while simultaneously being a game about shooting fucking everything

The best arcade arena FPS I've played.
Basically:-
- Brutally difficult gameplay with massive replay value. Easy to pick up, hard to master.
- Simple premise and mechanics that have a surprising amount of depth.
- Surreal graphics and surreal-er sound design that keeps you on edge.
- Variety in gameplay entities (demons), with enough practice you will "Gain Mastery and Power" over them.
I'm typing this review a few days after achieving my first 500+ run, the requirement for the sole steam achievement. In the 80 hours I've spent in-game, I have learned so many things. Tactics to slowly but surely make my way towards this milestone. I also learned how to play arena shooters in a way that doesn't destroy my wrists after half an hour of playing, so that's cool too. I struggled a lot, but always felt a high level of elation after hearing the "NEW HIGH SCORE!" sound effect.
If you are currently a player with aspirations to reach 500+, I implore you to check out:-

It was the final push I needed to commit to overcoming my self-imposed limits. I couldn't have done a better job of describing what Devil Daggers sets out to do as a video game and how it executes it so wonderfully.
Be warned, you will get addicted to this. There is definitely a lot of skill to this game, despite the apparent simplicity. You will have to think your way through it as much as reacting to what's going on.
