TLDR: Unity engine grid-based 3D shape navigation game. Reach end tile to win. Insanely boring. Do not like the level design, and presentation of levels blocks floating in the middle of nowhere. Control of camera and issuing jumps and navigating change of gravity all felt like an unwanted, and unsatisfying chore to execute.
Advertised as a platformer but movement is entirely grid based. You navigate primitive 3D structures literally floating in mid-space. MEchanics seems to rely on the ability to rotate the gravity so that you can walk on sides or under the structure but after button mashing for a bit I found no way to execute this mechanic. I have no reason to believe that it is not in there and one could claim that I could not appreciate the true experience because of it. But I have played more than my share of object routing titles. This is just yet another uninventive unity engine interation of the same old tired concept.
It was fun for a little bit, but then it started to get repetitive and boring. If you want a game that is a puzzle based stategy game then get this, but if you have a short attention span then do not get this or if you dont like playing games that is repetitive.
Bingung sayah mau dapet badge aja
No thanks... Not even if you gave me the game although maybe, just maybe, if it didnt have STEAM Trading Cards I might have found something to like.
I initially thought this was going to be a bit like Kula World (a PS1 puzzle game where you play a ball traversing platforms in 3D with no favoured direction for "down") but it was not exactly like that. No matter. I liked the aesthetic and loved the idea of an astronaut exploring a platforming system in 3D where one has to change perspective to find the next correct place to jump, explore, and activate buttons - so as to activate the exit and head through it to complete the level. What I severely did not appreciate was the fact that the player is not given the chance at all to appreciate the level, because they placed a 30 second countdown to finish the level.
On the level I got stuck at, after several tries, I managed to figure out exactly where to go and jump and where all the traps , obstacles, bonuses, and buttons were, but to get one's bearings in a 3D arena with no "down" is a bit too difficult for me in 30 seconds. I never manage to clear the level I got stuck at. I was pushed into a state of horrid time urgency that made the game unenjoyable. If they had implemented a system where one got better bonuses the quicker one completed, I'd understand that and appreciate trying to get a better and better score as I improved in skill, but to rush around like bloody headless chicken trying to find the activator buttons and then get to the exit within 30seconds was too much. It was extremely frustrating and I thumb this down forcefully. Some others might have the skill to blaze through the level in 30seconds but for me personally, it was an unpleasant experience.
Remember Wonderland Adventures? This is the space version of it.2usd for ~26 hours of pain and satsification
Wonderful puzzles, craptons of content (210 levels), adorable little spaceman, what more do you want? an actual spaceship so he can escape this mortal danger? You serious?
Why the timer? The game requires you to pause and scope out your environment but then punishes you for taking too long. then you have to start over, go to the point where you died, and continue to figure it out. The timer just gets in the way. I can understand a Time trial mode though, or maybe a free-view mode where the timer stops.
Clever little puzzler, with some unique mechanics I haven't really seen in any other game. Relies on your memory and spatial reasoning to make sense of each level Good stuff.
Not bad, not good either. Kinda a neat idea, but super easy levels to begin with bored me out way to quickly.
Vertigo Void is probably the most charming puzzle game I've come across on Steam so far. The graphics are pixelated but still have a refined feel to them, something you don't get in many Unity games right now.
The game handles the combination of puzzles and platforming very well. It puts you into a situation I'm sure at least a few of us thought of as kids: What if we were isolated in space away from our ship, on The Sun? You must remember the layout of the level and use the odd rules of gravity in the game to press all the buttons and unlock the hatch before time runs out and The Sun expands and you disintegrate.
This sounds intense, but actually the game is very calming. The music is soothing and complements the game to create a finished product: A relaxing puzzle game to play to wind down at any time of the day.
For two dollars? This game is great.
For one dollar? If you like puzzles then you absolutely must get this game.
I'll be honest, I'm not as big on puzzle games as I was as a kid and I will probably not end up getting 3 Stars/Perfect on levels but I still love this game, mainly because it is basically a new version of the PS1 classic Kula World (or Roll Away for you Americans).
Simple mechanics of moving on each block and then the game puts you into the third dimension with walking around blocks and taking leaps of faith.
I had just began to play today but the game seems to have a great potential. The level creator is not so hard to master but, because it was made with unity, you must change you control key via a little menu that appear when you launch the game.
This game remember to me an other old game that was nammed "Kula world" so if this game tell you something go buy the game since he only cost less than 2 euros :).
