i loved the atmosphere and story but the combat feels really dated, and the difficulty is kinda all over the place. medium was too hard, and easy was way too easy. this was my first time ever playing it and i know it's an old game, but i didn’t expect it to feel so janky. i still enjoyed it and i'm looking forward to playing the other games.

incredibly enjoyable if you're looking for a simple linear FPS like Half-Life with the vibes of Fallout. One of the most classic games of all time and definitely a hall-of-famer.

It’s been a long while since I played Bioshock. And since I’m rebuilding my PS3 collection, I bought the remastered version. I know Ken Levine has a new game coming out but after what happened with Infinite, I have no interest in it. So let’s if this game holds up today. But as for something different, this review (and B2 when I get around to replaying it) will be on the hardest difficulty with no checkpoints. Which shouldn’t be too much of a problem, I already did that once.

        Story:
There once was a man named Andrew Ryan who dreamed of a capitalist paradise where everyone can do their jobs without regulation. But like all capitalist societies, it has become a nightmare as the city has torn itself apart in a civil war and mutated people called Splicers roam the halls And you, a seemingly random person, must survive and find a way to escape.

I don’t have the highest opinion of Ken Levine, but Bioshock is a forgivingly simple plot. You arrive in a freshly ruined city that still has people in it. Andrew thinks you're a spy and wants you dead with a friendly man named Atlas helping you through the city, while a woman named Tenenbuam asks you to save these little girls out of the kindness of your heart. Even when crap hits the fan, it doesn’t get too complicated.

The audio logs, environments and what little information you get do help with the storytelling of this game. Like when you arrive and go through the medical section, you think everyone just went crazy one evening. Then you hear about this criminal named Fontaine who had a smuggler ring which pissed Ryan off. And it keeps giving you more information til the big reveal which I assume most people are aware off, and that reveal still holds up cause it’s not trying to be obnoxious with how clever it thinks it is like Infinite. They just point something out and when they do, you never not see it. I will agree that the game does lose a little steam after the reveal since it marks the end of act 2 and there’s not much left besides beating the bad guy for 4 levels. Maybe if the apartment levels were merged into one maybe that would help cause the last two levels were fine for me.

Though if there’s one character that deserved more, it would be Jasmine Jolene who was a stripper at a sex club who sold her baby to some scientists. A bit of a spoiler, turns out she contributed something very important to the plot and all she gets is one audio diary. Like someone who doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

        Gameplay:
Since I’m playing on the hardest settings this wouldn’t be the experience most people would be playing on, but is that experience like. Well, it was a pretty hard since enemies have more health and some stagries aren’t as useful then in normal play like electrocuting enemies in water only deals half damage instead of killing them, and the first boss and Big Daddy fights were honestly more brutal than I was expecting.

Thing is…It was only hard for the first two levels. Once I found the research camera to get those damage bonuses as well as some tonics to give me more healing from health items and increase my damage, I wouldn’t say it was easy but it was smooth enough sailing. Unless it was a boss fight or Big Daddy, I was maining the Wench, not only cause the special ammo were the only things doing damage to enemies, but some of the Tonics like Wench Jockey made the wench one of the few weapons that did decent damage, especially late game. I also liked using it. Melee combat isn’t bad. Of course Leadheads and Nitros were still tanky so I dealt with them with headshots from the crossbow.

I also didn't use my plasmids much in combat. I know they are a big part of the gameplay and are useful to get secrets and hidden items, but the opening level kind of deters you from that like I said on the hardest seting, and my trick for Nitros with throwing their projectiles back at them with telekinesis wasn’t as useful with their longer health bars. Though lighting up the oil spills was still useful like during the final boss. But the real MVP was Security Bullseye. Get a Big Daddy near a camera (preferably one that’s hard to hit) and watch as the drones tear the Daddy to shreds. Sure, it’s lengthy and may take some hunting and stalking to find the perfect Daddy, and even if it didn’t kill him he should have been softened enough to be dealt with some grenades.

As for my comments about hacking. It’s fine. More a you love it or hate it kind of thing and it’s not very long. I only have an issue with it if the board has already decided you lost before you started by blocking you off with alarms or overload tiles which is bullcrap. At least there are tonics to make things easier and hacking turrets and drones become a non issue after some photos.

        Presentation:
I don’t think I’ll be fair with the graphics since I set the quality settings too low so my laptop wouldn’t explode which I think gave me some texture pop-in. The levels are well designed as they are designed to be explored with recognisable landmarks or memorable rooms and clear visibility even in the darker sections. (plus the map is good). Sound design is also good with the voice cast doing an amazing job and the little things like the tingle of a turrent letting you know you f-ed up.

Though if I can complain about something in this pretty little alleyway, it’s the splicers. Not that there bad since each model is unique and their voice lines help characterise them like the fisherman who sings bible hymns and appears to be religious or the rich lady who thinks she’s better than everyone else. My issue comes from apart from animations, there’s not much differentiating the splicer types. Like you could hear some mobster complaining about football but you won’t know what you’re up against till you had a good look on what he’s holding. The only exception would be the statues in Fort Frolic which have a unique design for themselves, completely silent and are all spider splicers. Then again, with the exception of Cohen and Ryan, they reuse these generic splicers for most of the NPCs. Even Tennebuam didn’t get her own model til Bioshock 2.

        Verdict
Survivor mode has a brutal start but once you get going, it’s pretty manageable.

Bioshock is a classic that changed the game industry in 2007 & the Remaster cleans the polishing the game up.

The story is amazing. One of the best I have played, the story mystery is amazing & keeps you on your toes!
The Fighting is great the only thing I would say would there's some bug but there not too bad a lot of the times they were really funny.

Having achievements in here is great compared to the original. I Would suggest buying 100% the story, gameplay & The visuals were amazings & I suggest playing the game yourself!

        Rating:
        I Give a 5 AND A HALF stars (★★★★✭) | The game is a (9.5/10) Score

A classic shooter with RPG elements that still maintains its old shine! Glad to be replaying the remastered version and interacting with the dark, challenging world of Rapture once more.

If you're new to the series--welcome, and enjoy the rich plot, twists, turns, and grey characters of the world. This is the first game in a trilogy that helped define a gaming as a superb vehicle for telling stories. No PvP, no multiplayer, no online connectivity... Just you, in a fallen, art-deco Atlantis. So, would you kindly consider picking up this game and unveiling the tale? Checking all the corners of every level for loot, Easter eggs, and lore? If you enjoy gritty, story-driven games... Step right up. One could say this trilogy is a circus of value.

Love the game, hate the glitches in this remastered version. The crashing is frustrating and frequent.
I made it close to the end of the game and the game crashed which caused my save to be deleted.
I lost hours of my life, and I'm not likely not going to try again.

The story is very good and the plot twists make it even better, it gets deeper as you discover more about how evil some of the characters are if you read most diaries, decent gameplay that offers variety in combat using different plasmids and strategies, pretty good game.

This is pretty much the glitchiest game I have ever had to endure. Have tried everything my technically-apt, mind can think of. Even saving every 5 minutes does nothing. It crashes, takes me ALL the way back to whatever save point it wishes -- twice now destroying 45 mins of progress. REALLY wanted to love this game. Crappiest crap ever.

On my first play through a couple years ago the game crashed so many times that I gave up because I was tired of losing hours for nothing. Decided to give it one more chance as of recently and I haven't experienced a single crash playing on a docked steam deck. Not sure why, maybe to do with linux? Im just glad it hasnt crashed at all this time as I head towards the final level.

Whats there to say? Its Bioshock. While the gameplay can seem dated the world building is top notch going out of my way to find as many audio logs as possible because you can feel the VA's emotions as you gather more pieces of this worlds history compared to basic bitch logs like in most other games. The themes are as strong as ever. Maybe if they reboot it, you could explore a different kind of rapture after an orbeez pranks goes horribly, horribly wrong. Its time to go back to Rapture

Incredibly good action fps. It's not a horror game so don't go into it with those expectations, but it has very strong atmosphere and art direction. The writing is pretty solid and you have a lot of fun tools to play with throughout the whole game, with like half of the guns you get being comically OP. Would recommend playing on hard mode for a first playthrough

This is a very good game: the combat is fun and satisfying, movement is smooth, and the story is interesting but scary. Though its not perfect you'll have to do so many hacking mini games which aren't even different every time it gets a bit old after the first 40. Over all I would recommend buying this.

This game has decent story and gameplay mechanics (you can shoot and use magic at the same time).
The city of Rapture shows what egotistical maniacs are capable of when they see the opportunity. I am only glad that in the end the civil war and power they grapsed destroyed themselves, but unfortunately in real life it is often far from happy ending.
IMO this game is a legit 10/10.

Still one of the greatest to ever do it, even 18 years later.

Having not (re-re-re-re-re)played this in many years, probably since trying for a few hours on PS4 when this "remaster" came out in 2016, I had my suspicions that we've since surpassed BioShock. I knew all the twists, was very familiar with every weapon and upgrade, burned every location in my memory; quotes and enemy phrases still rang in my head as vividly as they did on my 360 in 2007. The whine of a security bot propeller, the warning beeps it gives when it spots you, the groan of a Big Daddy Bouncer... all still there.

It's been 18 years, but Rapture and the story it tells is still as poignant and fun as ever.

The gunplay isn't the greatest (albeit with some fantastic audios and weapon designs) and combat is a little wonky, with AI able to ping you from great distances with no real way to avoid damage, but in those 14 hours I was constantly reminded why this is an all-time great.

The exploration, the music, the sounds, the visuals, the voice acting, GOD the voice acting! This is one of the greatest casts in gaming history, filled with top tier talent from cartoons and classic animations, before Troy Baker took over every role. Characters are larger than life, spouting the most quotable lines over radio channels and guiding you through one of the best cities in gaming history.

In 2025 you start to see all the cracks in each characters philosophies, their crazed pursuit of holding power in name of their specific ideals. You can see how and why this city failed, even before the plasmids and Adam addiction took over. When you're broke and almost 32, you can't wait to put that golf club in Andrew Ryan's head, but you still hold onto his every word.

This version of the game was essentially a cash grab, back when grabbing cash could be done with the first two BioShock games, but it's still the best way to play it and is so old any PC could play this no problem. A fantastic way to spend 2-3 days and see why this stone-cold classic is still a classic.

The Game itself is Good but it has some bugs and glitches. Now I have one encountered one glitch but it is a severe glitch, infact it is so severe that I got SOFTLOCKED. For anyone that reads this, that glitch is connected to a later part of the game so if you wanna avoid Spoilers please stop reading otherwise please continue.

If anyone knows a fix for this, comments are turned on so feel free to offer me and others with the same Problem some help!

        [SPOILER INCOMING]
This Glitch occured shortly after the player character has become a Big Daddy, I was escorting a Little Sister/Gatherer and she was Harvesting ADAM from Test Subject #1, after she was done she didn't move on she just kept standing there and told me to move on with her but that's a bit hard to do if she doesn't also move on, so basically I got softlocked!

        TL;DR:

this game does not improve on the original enough to call itself a remaster, and has introduced bugs that are severely detrimental to your enjoyment. Overall it feels like low effort was made. In a world where we get some killer remasters, looking at you System Shock and the Destroy All Humans franchise, it's disappointing to see a classic like this have cheap lipstick smeared on its face, then be thrown out to the curb to turn tricks for a quick buck. FWIW buy and play the original if you can.

I'll preface this review with: Bioshock is a classic and one of those games everyone should play; under any other circumstance I would wholeheartedly recommend this but I do not recommend this version.

I bought the Bioshock Collection for the remasters of Bioshock and Bioshock 2 (as of review I have not booted B2 yet). I have gripes with the quality of this remaster but the main issue is the crashing. I am running a stable high-end system and the crashes are unbelievable - I am 10 hours into my play-through (Survivor, No Vita-Chambers) but nowhere near that part in the story due to the *incessant* crashing, of which there is little remedy. For me, these crashes seem to be random but I'm soldiering through under great duress to get this game completed, apparently I'm a flagellant.

This is obviously a huge problem for an immersive sim, when the game can barely keep itself together for 10 minutes you'll find that immersion breaking. It's a slog and it makes it boring. There is also a peculiar issue with the game recognizing gamepad inputs, despite my controller being turned off and disconnected. Much like the crashes this will switch seemingly at random and usually necessitates a restart as it makes the vending machines unusable. So when it's not crashing by itself you'll be finding yourself rebooting it. Not good.

        Now for my other gripes:

This remaster is.. lackluster.. as far as remasters go. It's not so much a remaster as it is a quick-and-dirty texture upgrade. The game looks very similar to the original, other than the slightly higher resolution textures, and I cannot tell if the atmospheric lighting has improved any, which says a lot in itself. Many of the environments remain boxy corridor connects to boxy corridor, which keeps it firmly dated to 2006. A lot of things that are ripe for improvement are the same, for instance the view outside the city could have been remastered - you know, the whole gimmick is the city being under water - but it's still a pretty low-resolution back lit texture like the original, showing a very low effort was made. This could have been fleshed out better to make the game seem worth buying over the original version.

Sound design bears no improvement on the original, the machine gun still sounds like a creaky stapler when you reload it, the sound effects and voice overs are generally fuzzy and low quality, and there is an odd bug where the sound will randomly switch to mono which makes using a headset very uncomfortable (not my headset causing the issue, you can replicate it). The HUD, splash graphics, and menu graphics all look horrid and pixelated; again showing that very little effort was made to revamp your experience.

Overall it feels like low effort was made. In a world where we get some killer remasters, looking at you System Shock and the Destroy All Humans franchise, it's disappointing to see a classic like this get lipstick smeared on its face then thrown out to the curb to turn tricks for a quick buck.

I beat this back in 2007 so I'm not sure if it holds up today. I'd imagine if you go in blind and you like some varied approaches to combat scenarios, you'll enjoy this. Incredibly unique atmosphere was the main draw for me, but the powers and inventive tactics are the bread and butter of this game.

I recall my very first encounter with the "BioShock" series on my Xbox 360. I randomly selected "BioShock Infinite" from my library and jumped into it. The experience was breathtaking, like nothing I'd ever felt before, but I never finished it. So now I finally got the opportunity to start the story from the beginning and dive deeply into the lore. Due to optimization issues on the modern systems, I was unable to play the original version, but the remaster worked pretty well. "BioShock Remastered" was a beauty, combining retro and futuristic genres with a wonderful story, art design, gameplay, superpowers, and armory. The biopunk vibe it gives off is just tremendous. I'm looking forward to experiencing the second and third installments of the franchise soon!

I first played Bioshock when it came out on D, and loved it then, The remaster is just as fun with some visual improvements, Story is the same, but also includes a museum level where you can see early ideas for the game along with 3 challenge maps similiar to Bioshock 2's protector trials. Some people have reported crashes, and whiel I have had a few, overall its running ok, I just spam the quick save key so I don't lose progress if it does decide to crash.

This has got to be one of the greatest games of all time. Exceptional story, fun gameplay mechanics, extremely interesting world, and the updated graphics bring it to the next level. Id recommend this game if it were 30+ dollars. Definitely get it.

I really enjoyed my time with BioShock, but it’s probably a one-and-done for me. The story is fantastic—well-written, with twists and atmosphere that really pull you in. The exploration is satisfying, and some of the mechanics were pretty innovative for their time.

That said, the combat felt clunky and hasn’t aged well in my opinion (but it is still enjoyable... just repetitive). I played on easy mode so that I could just focus on the story, which I’d recommend if you’re here for the narrative rather than the challenge. Definitely worth playing at least once if you’re into immersive worlds and good storytelling.

A spoiler-free story review: Your character's name is unknown, and he barely speaks, actually... he will say nothing. You are going to an underwater city called "Rapture," created by Andrew Ryan. Your goal is to escape this city. A man named Atlas will help you escape. That’s the very basic story. BUT that is not all... the story is incredibly interesting. Find all the Audio Diaries to know the truth about this city and many other things. I watched a YT video to get some help so that i would not miss any audio diary.

The gameplay is excellent, and have some good weapons. There’s also something called Plasmids, which can give you superhuman powers. You can use both them to progress through the game. You can hack turrets, security cameras, vending machines, and vaults. You'll also receive a camera to take photos of enemies and research them to increase the damage you deal to them.

        Tips:
        - You won’t need to worry about bullets/ammo if you use the correct ammo type for the relevant enemy (this does not apply to the hardest difficulty).
        - Use every weapon you have. I avoided using some weapons because I was worried about running out of ammo, but certain ammo types can deal significant damage to specific enemy types. (You’ll learn this as you research enemies.)
        - You can take more than one photo (at least three) of an enemy. Research everything that moves or can hurt you (like turrets and security cameras).
        - This tip is not a spoiler: try to rescue (do not harvest) Little Sisters so you can get the good ending. Don’t worry about ADAM—you’ll have enough to buy Plasmids and Tonics.
        - Explore every area on the map to avoid missing weapon upgrade stations and Audio Diaries.
        - You can also find enough ammo before the final mission.

A small spoiler, but it will save you from losing a weapon upgrade station and some achievements. Do not kill Sander Cohen when you meet him for the first time. You can ignore him (I didn’t know this and killed him, so I had to replay that part). You can kill him at the end of the game (do not forget to Take picture of him).

Enjoy the game. The background music is very good but also scary. My overall rating is 8/10.

Fun gameplay in a unique environment and a compelling story. A nice take on the RPG aspects: skills aren't earned through levels or a tree- they're purchased and swapped in & out of a limited number of slots. Weapons aren't upgraded by collecting materials and bringing to a vendor or using a crafting skill: instead, you have to find one of the very few upgrade stations and choose one aspect of one weapon to upgrade. Choose wisely!

I played this for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I can confidently say it's one of the best games I've ever played. I would even consider it better than a lot of games that have come out in recent years. The voice acting, story, and world building are amazing. It's an old game so it has a few bugs, luckily I've only run into one (grabbing something after you've used your telekinesis to pull it towards you). But other than that I think it's a really good game and deserves more recognition.

Would You Kindly stop scrolling and read this review

Bioshock was groundbreaking in the way it introduced many gamers to an obscure art style and a niché political philosophy; namely art deco and objectivism. Both of these are weaved into the games DNA and helped to create its iconic look, deeply immersive and memorable world, and its well written story and characters.

The opening few minutes are also iconic and almost perfect in the way they introduce the player to these two concepts, as well as to one of the game's antagonists, Andrew Ryan. It is mostly on the rails and involves lots of delightful visual storytelling as well as a recorded speech from Ryan. As the haunting music sores your 'ride' culminates in a sudden reveal of Bioshock's underwater city, Rapture, a place founded by Ryan in the hopes it would become an objectivist utopia.

"I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture"

On arriving in the city it quickly becomes clear that Rapture is far from a utopia and that something has gone very, very wrong.

Now I'm no political expert, but it's obvious from Andrew Ryan's opening monologue that this is a world built on objectivism. As I understand it, objectivism, a philosophy cooked up by Ayn Rand, is a form of right wing, hyper libertarianism, married to extreme capitalism. If selfish greed were a political philosophy, it would be objectivism. The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many, as a mirror universe version of Spock might say.

Bioshock isn't a celebration of Rand's politics though; as you explore Rapture you'll quickly realise through the narrative that this is a critique of Ayn Rand's political philosophy. It turns out that in an underwater city where everyone is working for themselves, nothing useful or necessary gets done and there's no-one to do the menial, less 'creative and fulfilling' jobs; those jobs that are vital to maintaining and running a vast underwater city. There is also no money to pay the people who are needed to do those jobs, and no supervision.

The citizens of Rapture also discovered a substance called Adam. When refined into a Plasmid, Adam rewrites a person's genetic material, giving them superhuman abilities. One of the downsides of plasmids use is their addictive qualities and they can also cause mental and physical degradation when over used. The second 'person' you see in Rapture is a victim of Adam abuse and has lost their mind, becoming a murder happy Splicer. You see them through a small window, gutting the first person you see. So Plasmid use isn't healthy; luckily as the player you will inject yourself with many many plasmids!

In a none objectivist society, regulation, ethical considerations and/or law enforcement of some kind could have led to better safeguards and more thorough testing of Adam. But in Rapture that would be hampering creative genius.

Then some sort of conflict began on new years eve 1958, between factions loyal to Ryan and those loyal to somebody named Atlas. With plasmids added to the mix things clearly didn't go so well, and this becomes apparent soon after you 'land'. Things are a fucked, to put it mildly.

You piece a lot of this together within the first hour or so through the visuals alone. Rapture's beautiful, clean, simple, symmetrical 1920's art deco face is cracking. The imposing bronze sculptures are tarnished and some are toppled; the gold plaques are grimy, and the green marble and ceramic tiles are pitted, shattered and broken. There are leaks everywhere too; maintenance having been largely abandoned. The city is flooding and large parts of it are without power. Machinery is malfunctioning and there are there are bodies all over the place. Many of the dead are in evening wear that is age worn and tattered. Some are wearing masks, like they died during a masked ball. The Splicers are similarly attired but those without masks are horrifyingly deformed. Mutated.

The atmosphere is unsettling and meloncholic, and sometimes, when the lights are flickering, casting strange shadows and the faint, nonsensical noises of one of Rapture's mad citizens are getting ever louder, and closer, the game is outright frightening.

This would be a decent way to tell a story but there are also audiologs made by the citizens before things went to shit, and NPCs that aren't currently trying to kill you. When taken together this is world building at its finest. Later on you'll start learning about the player character and their connection to Rapture, the two philosophies of Ryan and Atlas and the ultimate fate of the city. This is the game's story and it's wonderfully paced and told, and incredibly immersive.

I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about the gameplay, but it's only important as a part of the whole, nothing about the FPS mechanics is outstanding. None of the guns are particularly memorable but they sound meaty enough and can be upgraded, as well as fitted out with different ammo types. You can also hack cameras and sentry bots to help you in combat, and these skills, along with heath and energy can be levelled up. You need the energy to use plasmids. There are a large number of plasmids, some of which you find and others you have to buy. They too can be levelled up and range from basic magical attacks like incinerate, winter blast and electrobolt, which are pretty self explanatory, to more tactical ones such as telekinesis, a decoy and one that charms enemies to fight for you.

Enemy variety is a rather limited, there are only a few different types of Splicer, but each benefits from a slightly different approach to take down, and there are generally plasmids that are better at countering certain Splicers. Encounters can be hectic if there are multiple Splicer types and then there are the big baddies. Not Splicers themselves, these armoured giants stomp around Rapture often in the footsteps of small girls. These little sisters are Adam gatherers* and you need Adam to buy plasmids, but before you can deal with the little sisters you have to get rid of daddy. Now you can just leave these pairings be when you encounter them, and as long as you don't get too close to the child the big daddy won't attack. It's always worth it though, and these fights can be some of the best, and worst when they're messy, in the game, requiring lots of ammo and plasmid use.

This is where the game's morality system comes into play; you can 'harvest' the little sisters for a large amount of Adam, killing them, or release them from their drugged servitude, saving them but for very little material gain. It's one of those shit good/evil binary choices that video games do, that are never really choices because the good option is obviously the one to go for, especially if it effects the ending. You're not even really punished for choosing the good option because after you've saved enough little sisters they'll drop off presents stuffed with Adam. It's definitely one of the most poorly thought out aspects of Bioshock, along with the hacking mini game. Nothing's perfect though.

As to the remaster, the best thing it does is let you dual wield a plasmid and a single handed weapon. Otherwise it's rather poor, performing worse for me than the original release. The graphical improvements are basic but fortunately the art style was already a winner.

I've wasted enough of your time. Bioshock is a fantastic game worthy of its iconic status; it's beautiful, dark, deep,, smart, engrossing and unforgettable. Get it.

Now. Would You Kindly give me all your points.

First and foremost, I would just like to point out that I am not a fan of first-person shooters. That's why it took me very long to buy this game give it ago.

That being said, I only regret not getting the game sooner, because this is one of the most unique looking and story-driven games I've played.

I was originally drawn to how the game looked, and my God, did the game live up to the expectations I had!
The overall art-deco aesthetic, with such attention to detail, matched with the amazing soundtrack, really makes the player feel immersed into this world.

The fact that there is a very interesting story behind all of that gorgeous art, really give the game the substance which makes it so compelling.

So, if you, like myself, are not necessarily fond of first-person shooters, and are therefore a bit hesitant about whether you should the game or not - Give it a chance! This is, by all means, not a typical first-person shooter, and not a typical gaming experience either, for that matter.

        Cheers!

2007 was a turning point for gaming, and BioShock is the creme of the crop for that year full of great releases. It's probably a perfect game. So many of BioShock's design elements feel outdated today, and yet they're why the game still holds up. Good design is timeless and BioShock nails it. What you get out of this game depends a lot of what you put in, and if you enter with the expectation that it's gonna be a high adrenaline action shooter, you're probably gonna be disappointed because BioShock wants to give you more than just that. If you ever feel modern gaming is stale, this is one of the games to spice it up.
