Vikings - Wolves of Midgard

I played the game with a friend and we enjoyed the game immensely. My friend was the host and we played all the way through campaign 1 (Dawn of Winter) together. When we wanted to continue playing today, I accidently loaded my character into singleplayer. I noticed right away that my character hadn't progressed in the story at all, even though my character is level 10. I exited to main menu and didn't think too much about it. I accepted invite to join friend's game as always... and nothing happened. We tried numerous times but we could never connect again.
I realized then what was wrong. It's because my character entered singleplayer for the first time and my current quest was updated to Dangerous Neighbors (the first real quest). This prevented me from synchronizing with my friend!
So I rushed through the game to the point (Flotnar) where I got with my friend, thinking it might help with syncing progress - but it didn't help!
So if your character was created for online co-op play, that character can never ever enter singleplayer, otherwise your co-op progress is screwed! Permanently. Just because of a small accident. What ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is this?! It's an unacceptable way to implement multiplayer, and had I known it was like that, I would have refunded the game immediately.
For everyone who wants to play the game for the online co-op, I warn you to stay far away!!!

The idea behind this game is great, but it is lacking.

I'm about 4 hours in, and I still only have 3 skills to use. A kick, scatter shot, and a piercing shot. That's it. All of the preview videos are showing new game+ with a fully maxed out character. The "options" are non-existent, you will be taking the same 5 skills for your character and the same upgrades depending on which weapon you choose. This makes for a boring combat loop, its not difficult, its just frustrating.

Your skill bar cant be rearranged, whatever order they are added is where they are stuck. Animations from enemies do not always match the hit-box, just expect random things to hit you even if you are outside of the animation. Expect to go backwards and grind to try and keep up with enemies, they WILL outscale your levels and gear. You will need to go to previous levels you have already beat to upgrade your shops and level-up shrine. If you don't do this, you will do almost zero damage to enemies.

Bosses are frustrating, not because they are hard, but because they have artificially inflated HP. When you would normally hit for 100-120 damage, on a boss you will hit for....25. As far as I can tell there isn't an armor pierce or scaling you can add to gear so I'm not sure why they did this.

Overall, with the combination of zero customization to controls, annoying grinds, bad loot, lack of skills/options, I can't recommend this game. I bought it on sale for $7.49 and would have immediately refunded after the first few levels if it was full price. I wont be finishing this one.

Truly a game with a lot of potential, but so much was lacking with this game. I'll keep it short and say the game was kind of fun to start. I realized soon that the game just scaled poorly. There was too much grind to keep up. The game doesn't let you progress with the right leveling from one level to the next and I had to find a map in German to even do secondary objectives so I could get resources to level up my merchants. I ended up on the second-to-the-last level and the enemies were just too overpowered for me. I tried to go back a couple of levels to grind some levels and catch up and my bar didn't even go up 10%. I was level 24 on a level 30 map and the enemies were starting to kill me in 2-3 shots. The previous level was slightly difficult, but not impossible.

I had to force myself to grind through this game.

It has a great edge of difficulty..

The difficulty spike from level 1 to level 2 is just insane.
The boss in level two turns into a damage sponge and kills you in 7 hits that are extremely difficult to avoid
