Amusement parks are happy places, filled with the joys of childhood and the exhilarating rush of fantastic rides to be dared. That was the vision of eccentric business man Nathaniel Winter when he opened the doors to Atlantic Island Park in 1977.
Unfortunately, the park's history turned out to be one plagued by tragedy and drama. Its freak accidents, grotesque killings and ghostly hauntings have inspired many a sensational headline, and locals worry the park is far from done claiming innocent lives.
For Lorraine, it's where her worst nightmare began.

Bought while on sale, its a decent horror game but you're in no actual danger while playing. The fact it ties in an MMO or some kind makes it...hard to recommend at full price. It is a walking simulator in the end with some horror elements and I will admit I jumped a few times playing this but I finished it in three hours. Do not buy this at full price, wait for a good sale and then give it a go. In the end, recommended when its on sale, NOT recommended at full price since at best you'll get four hours of it and that's if you REALLY take your time.
Very creepy game with some jump scares and a good story.

This was a fun story game, quirky and neat
A trip just in time for Halloween. Fun for the whole family, my son loves it here.
Atlantic Island Park were kind enough to give us the whole place to ourselves too. Chad the chipmunk was a great guide, all the rides were free (shock therapy was my favorite) and I even got this bloody ice pick souvenir too.
Tell your friends, bring your kids.
Even if you like "the walking sims", i doubt that you'll enjoy this one
It's a psychological horror set in an abandoned amusement park, where our protagonists is trying to find her son. Okay, not the most original premise, but still you can at least expect decent writing, right? Nope. While there is some interesting stuff about the parks history, which, i guess, is connected to MMO Secret World, since this is supposed to be a spinoff - the writing overall is just very poor. Her narration is ridiculously melodramatic and sometimes sounds like a bad slam poetry. Kind of reminds me of Dear Esther, which also had pretentious amateur hour ramblings, but at least it had great soundtrack and something nice to look at.
Speaking of that game, it's as long as that one, that is something little over an hour, but with DE it felt like it told everything it wanted by the end. I feel like some parts are quite underwritten and what there is, is not stellar. like the stuff with her son. i know that they're trying to do the exhausted single mother going through all sorts of emotions, but the way she speaks of him in one section in particular, where she might as well say that she wants to throw him into a woodchipper, coupled with how up its own rear her narration is throughout the game makes her kinda unlikable. One could argue that she's supposed to be like that, but if that's the case, you gotta make her interesting at least.
But that is the first half. In the second it becomes more of a horror game and that falls flat too. The scares are not that great most of the times and some of them are straight up silly. In the final third the game just says F it and rips of PT and even though it's probably the best section in the game, it still isn't as effective as it should be.
And that's the park for you. The same idea has been done to death and better in other horror media. It's short, but somehow still feels padded, like there is a section, where you just sit and listen to Hansel and Gretel story for 7 minutes. it's annoying, forgettable, and as a cherry on top, it's overpriced. skip it.
Average parenting simulator
This game was a bit rubbish. Its a walking simulator through a creepy theme park and a loose story line about a woman suffering from trauma induced and possibly prolonged post-natal depression. It has some not very scary jump scares and an attempt at a scary ending...which was a rubbish lazy ending. But there is literally no game play, its just walking around until you thankfully get to the ending, which luckily is long because its such a short game.
The Park is a pretty good psychological horror game. I really liked the whole spine chilling atmosphere around the setting of an amusement park.
Another thing that was well structured in my opinion, were the jump scares. Especially on some key points of the game.
The voice actors were simply amazing! Their voices enhanced the story and the experience in a way that kept me hooked throughout the whole time.
The visuals and sound design were very impressive, with some high level details around the park.
My only complain would be its duration, as you can finish the game in 1.5 hours without rushing.
Overall an enjoyable experience, and you should check it out!

Early on you ride an escalator for a solid minute while the protagonist rambles on about how cool theme parks are.
Shortly afterwards, you get on a swan ride where for SEVEN AND A HALF MINUTES you are told the story of Hansel & Gretel. Absolutely nothing else happens during this sequence, and you can do nothing except look slightly to the left and the right.
This unfortunately sets the tone for the rest of the game, which I'll admit does present some interesting ideas, but somehow manages to fumble the execution of nearly everything.
Awesome, little game with great visuals and atmosphere.
I wont lie, it was just plain boring. There are 10X better games with the same concept, so unless its $1 i dont think its worth it
Wow, I know where Lorraine's house in SWL is. Let me tell ya, when i got to that room,
where the piano music plays and got to hear the whole thing ( and I waited for it all )
The conversation with all the backmasking.. was a trip.. I have camped out on the back porch
numerous time listening to that.. but to hear it up close and personal.. and this is the story for
that.. This whole game is SWL atlantic park lore.. If i had known this, I wouldn't have even looked
the kid.. they NEVER make it ( especially in The Secret World )

- Its very short (over in 1.5-2-5 hours)
You like walking simulators with a good story and a creepy atmosphere on top?
And you dont like them too long? Well, you've found your game.
